They have one of the best Biriyanis! We love the ambience and love spending time with the family here. If we cant go there we don't miss their Biriyani special on Wednesdays. read more

We went for the weekend buffet. The buffet was very impressive: incredibly clean, lots of variety, and dishes from different parts of India; however, it was far too spicy for my palate, as I rarely eat Indian food. I imagine if one we're accustomed to Indian food it would be fine, but I probably won't be able to go back unless I build up my tolerance. read more

If you're out late and want to eat great Deccan Spice is your place. I ordered the anda burji and found it to be full of fresh flavor, herbs, and juicy tomatoes. My date ordered the mutter paneer and found it spicy but flavorful. We shared some samosas and walked away very full and with plenty of tasty leftovers for breakfast. The staff was very friendly and attentive and the menu seems to have something for everyone-including a dozen great vegetarian options. I regret that we arrived late at night and missed the buffet, but I will consider that an incentive to return. read more

The food is consistently delicious, and the service is always friendly and attentive. Super tasty!

Decent Indian food. We went for the lunch buffet. They have a pretty good amount or selection for meat dishes. They had butter chicken, a chicken 555 which is a spin on chicken 65....it had good flavor and was a little spicy. They had a goat dish, and a fish curry option. We were surprised that there weren't many vegetable options. They had fried baby corn, and some bean and lentils, but not really any greens. It was clean inside, and it felt modern....not run down. Some of the other Indian places around just feel older, run down, and less clean. read more

Had here couple of time...takeouts...also took a party order, all friends were happy with the food... For me a good option for Indian food...Chettinad Chicken Curry and Biriyani were really good. read more

My boyfriend chose this place randomly as he was craving Indian food. Upon walking in I saw a buffet. I asked if there was anything vegetarian on it, as I'm a vegetarian. The waiter replied, the whole thing is. Apparently Tuesday's only from 6pm-10pm they have a vegetarian buffet for $9.99. I opted for that and it was the best vegetarian Indian buffet I've had in Chicagoland. Everything was flavored so nicely and you could taste the distinct flavors of each dish. It also comes with hot chai. Total gem, I plan to return and hope others will give it a try and enjoy it as much as I did! read more

Deccan Spice - Indian Near Me - Naperville, Illinois

I found Deccan Spice through Yelp and I was pleasantly surprised. Because it's tucked into that Trader Joe's parking lot, I didn't know it was there. My boyfriend and I eat here about once a month at the lunch buffet. The staff were extremely nice, showed us where the vegetarian and non-vegetarian food was, and offered us tea right away. Their buffet is the perfect size, and has a lot of vegetarian options, as well as chicken, fish, and sometimes goat. (I think?) They have veg and non veg biryani that is colorful and spicy. The Biryani is a little too spicy for me, so I cut it with the plain Basmati rice and it's perfect. When I say these people are nice, that doesn't begin to explain it. The second time we visited, they recognized us and said, "Welcome back!" They are always asking if we need anything, more bread, another drink etc, very attentive in the most kind and genuine way. I mean, I don't think I've ever had a more genuine experience with restaurant staff. They are SO NICE! There was even what may have been a teenage boy working there on a Sunday and he was also extremely attentive and sweet. Their naan bred is SO GOOD! We made the mistake of eating two baskets of it once, and now have a limit of one basket for the two of us. :) The food is great, all different levels of spicy so there is something for everyone. My favorite is the Biryani and the Fish Curry. My boyfriend likes the butter chicken. They also have some little desserts and a small salad bar if you would like a traditional salad. When we completed our meal, they asked us if we wanted some tea "to-go." We declined but it was a really nice thing to offer. Looking forward to going this weekend. :) It is a good price at $14 or so per person for the buffet. We also saw a large family arrive once with about ten people and they were seated easily at a long table and there is enough room in the place that it wasn't disruptive or too loud. read more

Great tandoori chicken. Kids loved it. (Non spicy if you prefer it that way.) Excellent goat biryani. Excellent plain and garlic naan. Delicious egg pakora/bonda. read more

Me and my husband really love the food from this restaurant, since we found this place we order from DecanSpice at least once a month. All of the vegetarian options are so delicious and the spice combinations are amazing. I always look forward to ordering from here and have never been disappointed. The Paneer Tikka Masala and the Jaipuri Malai Kofta are our favorite dishes, but you really can't go wrong here. read more

This is the first time we've tried this place. On a Monday night, past 9 pm, most places were closed and the kids and I were desperate because we had no food in the house. They deliver to our location. The food was amazing. Top 3 all-time in my long Indian cuisine experience. We devoured every morsel, every drop of the butter chicken and tandoori chicken which were both divine. My only minor peeve was the steep delivery fee of $5 and the small portions. But this won't keep us away. The kids said we should try eating in and check out the place and the rest of the menu. I'll update when we do. read more

I ordered delivery twice from here. The first time I thought it was good. The portions for the price are very small. For example, the $12 egg curry had three eggs in it. Flavor was really good so I ordered again.. this time they packed half of my order, and then told me that they packed full. I said I'm pretty sure I can count and the order only had two small boxes. They told me in fifteen min they will deliver the food. It is now 1 hour past when I'm supposed to have gotten food. Still waiting for the driver. Maybe the portions are better in the restaurant. But 12 bucks for 3 eggs in a family style restaurant is not worth it. Indian food is meant to be shared with family. Daal was good .. But again portion and price was just okay. Tandoor chicken was great and for 12 bucks you got three pieces. I'm probably never going here again. There are tons of other restaurants with better service, portions and pricing. Still waiting on the food while the other food had gotten cold. Good service is when you make a mistake you not only make up the mistake but go above it. Received the food at 855 pm finally. My veg biryani had a piece of chicken in it.. I'm a strict vegetarian while my husband is a meat eater. So they basically took the rice if the chicken biryani and put vegetables in it and gave it to me. read more

This is the best Indian restaurant in Naperville. Go there. Be adventurous and try something new.

Great selection, delicious food and good prices! We come here all the time. Highly recommend.

I enjoyed the dinner at Deccan Spice along with my family. The food was delicious and authentic. You will never disappointed with staffs.

always wonder when visiting a buffet how much of the offerings will be great versus good and so on. Deccan Spice delivered wonderful food for all choices offered! Waitstaff were friendly and efficient. Cannot wait to bring my hubby here; what a great find!! read more

This restaurant serves by far the best Indian food I have had in Chicago. The restaurant is clean, staff is polite and the food is delicious. We ordered Goat Kasha and chettinad chicken with chapati and schezwan fried rice since they were out if chicken biryani. Both the entrees were cooked really well and tasted even better. I can't say the same for the schezwan rice though. It tasted 'confusing' for the lack of a better word. It tasted like a mix of chinese and tandoori spices. I generally don't order chinese food in a multi- cuisine restaurant for the same reason and I think I should continue following that . The desserts were also really good. Softest gulab jamuns I have had in US so far and the best rasmalai. read more

Great Indian and indo-chinese food. We came for the lunch but did not want to eat a buffet lunch. The owner of the place was very considerate and got good food prepared for us. I loved the food and loved the ambiance. read more

I don't write very many reviews but I decided to write one for this as I didn't feel the place was getting its due recognition. Andhra Chili Chicken was good but without a question the best Chicken Dum Biryani & Chicken Tikka Masala I've had in a while. I don't spend my trips back to home running around Indian restaurants but this one definitely made me go back there for the weekend buffet and it was phenomenal. I would have given it a 4-star but that extra star is for the reception by the host and service provided by the people working there; S/O to the manager there who constantly walked around and inquired about the food. Definitely looking forward to go home for the Presidents Day weekend and try that amazing CTM! read more

Food was wonderful and they are very accommodating for spice level. Only reason I can't put 5 stars is the lack of changing table in the bathroom read more

Indian is always my go-to when I visit a new place. As a white midwestern guy, I typically have a hard time getting very spicy food even when I request it. Deccan wasn't shy about the spice and I came away burning and satisfied! Great flavors and quick service. read more

First, I know almost nothing about the cuisine of India, but am trying to learn! This is the place to do that, because: 1. The menu is very extensive, as is the buffet. - huge selection of apps / small plates and lite / regular dinner portions, all generous. 2. Anthony, who has been there every time my wife and I have gone ( ~ 6 times) will spend time answering questions, making suggestions, and adjusting the heat if desired. He is a great person to help people trying to learn the joy and savor of spices new to us. 3. Decent quality wine selection. 4. The spices and ingredients are unique for western European descendants like us. Do not assume the location in Naperville Plaza (always plenty of free parking) takes away anything from the fine food, service and value. We live in the West Highlands and can walk to dine..........another plus! read more

I had a great experience at Deccan Spice. On a Sunday evening, my wife and I brought a vegetarian friend who enjoys Indian food. It was the first time there for all of us and we were all impressed with the taste, size of portions, and menu options. It took a surprisingly long time for anyone to come to us after we were initially seated, so we did not have water or anything as we searched the menu. I ordered appetizers, but at the same time as our entrees because the service was initially slow. Similarly, at the end of our meal, it was hard to get the bill and pay. I eventually walked up to the counter to get someone's attention. That being said, I will gladly return to Deccan Spice because the food was delightful and our server was pleasant. read more

What a treat to find a place offering a malai kofta dish, let alone one that made me want to lick the bowl clean. My whole group loved the food & will be returning. Try the biryani, the flavoured naan or, of course, the mughlai malai kofta. Our server, Anthony, was just the right amount of attentive. Tasty galub jamun. PROS: Pick your own level of spicy/hot, from nothing to WHAP. Great selection of choices. Lots of vegetarian options. Easy parking. Great service. Biryani is buy one, take one home with huge portions. CONS: Ambience is just OK. OVERALL: There are numerous Indian options in the Naperville / Aurora area, but this is now my favorite. Yes, it is a strip mall location, but the food and service were the best I've had in the suburbs and many Chicago places. I'm so pleased they do take-out! TIP: This really does spice according to what you want, so don't be afraid! read more

Pros: fast and friendly people. Good service. Cons: the food was slightly below average. Ordered dal makhani that was ok, and paneer tikka which I did not like. Fiancé did not like the chicken dum biryani. For $70 not worth it, will stick to my other go to places. read more

I am one of those really aweful people who look to reviews but dont take the time to write one. So, here's my first review. I hail from the land of Biryanis so for me Biryani has to be perfect. This means, the chicken should be juicy from inside with a fried glaze from the outside. The rice should not be overcooked or undercooked, but flaky. And achieving this perfectness isnt easy! Moving on, Biryani needs to be spicy but not overpowering with the spices. And I personally like my Biryani to de dry and not oily. Now, Biryani is literally Chicken cooked with rice and you may be wondering why I am getting so specific about the consistency of the rice and chicken, and the spice level- well, these are the only two things that separate a great biryani from a not so great Biryani! So, 5 stars for the chicken biryani. Its just Perfect! My husband loves goat biryani but I cant speak to that as I haven't tried it yet. I also love their yogurt rice(stunner), veg pakoda, fish appetizer (forget the name, but it was on the buffet), and chapattis (yes, yes! they are good. I ordered the no-oil chapatis) Deccan spice is a fantastic restaurant for Indian food. Their buffet carries a variety of options. My 2 cents: Drop items like uttapam, idly, hot and sour soup and chat. Not that they are bad, but for a restaurant that excels in Biryani, make sure that people dont get blurred by the array of offerings and pick something else over Biryani. This may especially be true for first time tryers. Good Luck and please preserve the awesomeness! read more
