This was our favorite spot on our entire Oregon trip. Quick background - we came here with our couple friends for a trip in which I proposed to my fiancé. We had to call early to change our reservation as we were coming from Redwoods Forrest, and they couldn't have been nicer about the adjustment. We started with the poke tuna for appetizers and were skeptical with the portion size at first. The skepticism ended as soon as we soon our first bites. The tuna was prepared perfectly, with excellent flavor and garnish. We ordered the lamb and filet minion for entrees. When I tell you this is the best food my fiancé and I have shared together for the two years we've known each other, I mean it... and we are foodies first and foremost. The steak melted in our mouths and the lamb had an amazing sauce that added to it. Our waiter, Austin, was the star of the show. He showed us great hospitality and celebrated our special occasion with fun energy. I strongly recommend you request Austin as your sever if you have the option. Party of four on a Saturday night 6pm; parking in front of the restaurant is full, available parking down the road or across the street. My fiancé and I arrived 15 minutes prior to our reserved time and were seated promptly by the hostess even before the last two of our party arrived. We were given menus and told a bit about the wine list, our waiter (Dalton) would be with us shortly. We sat for 20 minutes before Dalton came to our table and asked us for our drink requests. The rest of our party arrived shortly after. He returned with our initial drink requests and took the remaining two drink orders, we also ordered bread and salads at this time. The rest of the drinks came out quickly as well as the bread. At this point we ordered our entrees and reiterated that we'd still wanted the salads we asked for... 55 minutes after we were first greeted by our server our entrees came out. (3 of us ordered the Tri-tip dinner and one order of the Filet Mignon) Salads were forgotten. We asked Dalton where our salads were and he apologized and quickly rushed to the kitchen seemingly rushing to remedy this mistake. He returned shortly after slightly apologetic and asked if we needed more drinks. We did. We all ordered another round each. 10 minutes later and halfway through our entrees the next round of drinks made it out. Albeit one drink being wrong and having to be remade. Still no Salad. We asked about the salad situation and Dalton stated he didn't want to bring them out with the entrees.. sooo dessert Caesar salads?! No idea.. we told Dalton to forget the Salads, we've almost finished our INCREDIBLY SALTY TRI-TIP dinner. Quite possibly one of the most over seasoned Tri-tip's I've tasted, meat cooked wonderfully just extremely salty on the outside bark of the meat. All three of us agreed it was extremely salty. The one that got the Filet Mignon was pleased with all he received and it looked like a wonderfully crafted meat in itself. Dalton told us he would make things right with all the issues that we had experienced and we weren't sure what that would entail. The bill was placed on the table minutes later with 3 of the 8 drinks being no charge. Still just over $300.00 before tip. All in all, not a great experience, had high hopes for this place and it failed in almost every way. read more

Sorry, but the experience we had was abhorrent. It started off ok enough, but drastically decline from the greetings and welcome. We ordered an appetizer and cocktails, after that we're left and basically forgot about. Seriously, hungry and no appetizer arrived, only to be given apologies and after about 2 hours our dinner arrived. This isn't a large restaurant, it's a small house with a few tables and no excuse for guests to be forgotten. I have been there 3 times. The first and second times, I had a decent meal and the 3rd was awful. I ordered fish that was so dry that I could eat only a bit of it, so I brought the rest home and ended up throwing it out. The cost of my meal was nearly $100 including a glass of wine and the tip. The service was excellent but I will not be going back. If I want good Italian, I will probably go to La Briccola in Ashland. read more

I was super excited to try Decant, but it was rather disappointing. My husband ordered the cod at $56 and was served a tiny 2 oz piece of fish. The risotto was good, not as good as mine. The chocolate mousse we ordered was not what they show on IG. We received a small square of dry chocolate cake with some whipped cream. Seriously disappointing. Dropping $450 on dinner for four and having it be average is not what I was expecting. I guess Medford is still Medford. read more

While visiting family in Medford, we tried out Decant. It definitely is upscale, especially for Medford. Definitely a destination for locals celebrating a special occasion. While the food was good to very good, the prices felt a bit gouging. I get it is a small family owned business, but $65 for a filet mignon and almost $50 for Tri Tip? It felt like the chef is vying for a Michelin star. I've been to Michelin star restaurants and nothing was extraordinary. My main issue was with the wait staff. While they have been trained to the extreme, their demeanor bordered on arrogance and lacking in any discernable personality (a smile never appeared by any of the front of house folks). They almost seemed bored and put out serving folks. Definitely try the place out for that special occasion and decide for yourself. read more

I rarely give bad reviews but stopped here because it had great reviews for italian steak house and got hot peppers in crab cake i partially ate before my throat, tongue and lips were burning (returned partially) and duck that I turned back because they told me it also contained peppers as if it was tacos. It was instantly nauseating with a salty plum mocktail which I also returned rather than drinking and was still charged $40. Never had to pay so much to be so thoroughly sick to my stomach with no consideration. read more

I'm torn here. Tasty dishes, however, I cant express enough how surprised at the seemingly missing ingredients or misaligned descriptions. A dish called Poutine listed as pork belly with cheese curds.I am sure there was no more than 1 oz of pork belly with no evidence of cheese curds served over French fries. No where are fries listed. A few bacon crumbles with great herbs over (truffle) fries (truffle oil, not real truffles) does not make an outstanding dish or value. Other dishes at the table were mushroom risotto (it was great but no visible mushrooms), and mushroom bisque. Obviously we were there for happy hour and enjoyed our wine, (great selections). So maybe dinner is a better experience. Just surprised that unique advertised ingredients are miniscule to non existant. read more

I took my husband to Decant for his 76th birthday dinner. I had high hopes based on the wonderful reviews. When we walked in, we both really appreciated the clean, lovely decor. We had reserved a table on the back patio, which could not have been nicer. We were seated next to the waterfall and the fireplace. Our server was a family member and very gracious. We learned that her parents are going to be reopening the Jacksonville Inn restaurant where we used to eat every week before COVID. I ordered the Nicolas Jay 2018 Pinot Noir upon the recommendation of our server, who is also a sommelier. I would rate it a 3 out of 5. In my opinion it needs to be laid down for several more years before it develops the rich flavor I was asking for. The price was $128 for the bottle. I don't recommend it unless you're going to put it in your wine cellar for at least 10 years. My husband ordered the dayboat scallops, which were delicious, as his appetizer. I ordered the beef tartare with a bit of cold foie gras and delicious foie gras toast. My appetizer was exquisite. For his entrée, my husband ordered something that was not on the menu they sent us earlier today. He ordered the grass-fed ribeye, which was truly excellent, and was prepared by the chef who is also one of the owners. I was not so fortunate. I ordered something else that was not on the menu we received earlier in the day, which was the lamb tenderloin. The vegetables on the plate that was brought to me did not match the vegetables that were described on the menu I was given in the restaurant. Sadly, my entrée was cold when it was served including the lamb tenderloin, which was also extraordinarily tough. I did not eat it. My husband shared a bit of his ribeye with me, which was more than enough. Overall, both of us found this meal disappointing because it was his birthday celebration. When our server came to the table to ask if we wanted dessert we declined. I asked her if she would be so kind as to package up my plate and explained that it was brought to the table cold. She explained that my husband's plate was prepared by the chef/owner while my plate was prepared by a chef in training. I would have to say that the person who prepared my plate, needs a great deal more training, including the ability to tell when a meal should not be served because it is cold. I am truly sad to say we will not be going back. Our total bill was $345. It was certainly not worth this amount -- and it was not the exquisite experience that I wished to give my husband for his 76th birthday. read more

Ever since new ownership has taken over, this place has now turned into our favorite local restaurant. The food is fantastic and fresh. The service is on another level. We leave feeling seen, appreciated and cared about. They greet us with a smile and leave us with a smile. They genuinely seem to enjoy their jobs and want to see their customers happy. So refreshing. We had dinner at Decant last night. We love to go out on a date night once or twice a month and this was by far one of the best experiences we've had in a very long time. I've been to many restaurants all over the world. This restaurant is such a let down. You read all these great reviews, obviously fake or people that haven't got a clue. What a shame, it could be good, maybe. Halibut, dry, probably frozen. on top of so so veggies and then swimming in a supposedly yummy sauce. Not, brown salt water. i really can say that it was probably the worst fish ever, frozen fish fingers would be better. Less pretentious for sure. I can honestly say that Decant is the most expensive bad restaurant I've ever eaten at. it's one thing serving crappy food, but then to charge that much. What a shame. I had lamb. Tasteless. lamb. on a bed of undercooked pasta bits. I know, German spatzle, but not good. then more salt sauce. what a shame. Shared a pudding. Looked like it came out of a dogs mouth, or the other end. Really, vomit or poo. Extensive wine and scotch list. Stupid prices. Who is buying that there on east main, Medford? 500 a bottle to go with some overpriced underwhelming food. Such a shame. I heard the table next to us saying that they were going to in and out to get some food after wasting two hundred bucks here. Just saying. You be the judge. I'm being kind and generous here actually. This place is an absolute gem! Everything is better than you can imagine! The squash bisque was velvety and just the right amount of cream fresh. The morell app was just the right amount of earthy ,meaty mushroom in a tomato sauce to die for. The filet was cooked perfectly. I couldn't decide which wine so they brought me 2 to taste, really nice touch! Desserts were spectacular! You want to take a bath in the chocolate mouse. The cozy intimate atmosphere was welcoming. Service was incredible. Our table was attended to by multiple servers, which was appreciated. Drinks, snacks and appetizers were delivered in reasonable time. Salad was superb, fresh and appetite enhancing, crab cakes were succulent, drinks perfectly balanced. While awaiting entrees our table of four was beginning to have difficulty carrying on conversations due to the extreme volume coming from a nearby table. For the next 30 to 45 minutes while we waited for our entrees, the laughing, shouting and shrieking coming from that table rose to a level which prevented any conversation at our table. By the time our entrees arrived, the warm ambiance and pleasure of the evening had been destroyed. We all agreed had it not been for the remarkable food and service, the entire trip would have been a complete waste of time and money. We felt it would have been appropriate for management to respectfully request the loud patrons consider their surroundings and other customers, or offer to move them or us. This is a small, cozy restaurant, not a party atmosphere bar with live music. As much as we loved the service and were blown away by the incredible tastes (best osso bucco EVER), we are now reluctant to return for fear of encountering the same situation. read more

I enjoyed a stunning meal, complete with a beautiful red blend. My entree was the Snake River Wagyu, preceded by fluffy focaccia. The steak was seasoned and cooked perfectly; and the accompanying vegetables were absolutely delightful. I paired it with a glass of the Adobe Road Shift red blend, which was delicious, as well. My reception as a solo walk-in was extremely inviting, but I suspect a reservation would be in order for weekends or busier times of year...this place is just that awesome. So I was bored and decided to take myself out to a nice late lunch/early dinner. This place was nearby and when I looked up the menu I was impressed but when I got there it was happy hour and the waiter initially only gave me the happy hour menu so I got the duck wings and fries. For an upscale place wings and fries was very basic order but whatever I'd never had duck in wing form. The wings were very good, had a tasty pepper sauce on it and very crispy. The fries were great as well. The waiter later gave me the full menu and I decided to try the scallop appetizer. This I hated. Now maybe I have a basic palette or idk but something was off texture wise and flavor wise. I've had scallops multiple times but the basic way they're usually made, this restaurant made them by chopping it up and mixing it with apple bits, idk I just think it needs more of the crunch element (whatever it was I can't remember but I wanted more) and some type of zest . I also got dessert. The dessert options all seemed good so I told the waiter surprise me and he brought the honey crème brûlée , it was very very good. I'd only ever had vanilla crème brûlée. I liked this honey one and the sweet salty chantilly cream on top and the huckleberry on top I only wish there was just a bit more huckleberry cause everything together was perfect bite. The restaurant itself was nice, idk it didn't look that upscale to me but the menu and the service definitely was upscale and I also sat at the front so I didn't get to see the whole restaurant. read more

Such an exquisite experience! I came to dinner here with a friend, for the first time, the vibe within the restaurant is warm, cozy, and extremely inviting. The Staff was extremely friendly, and knew the menu very well. I ordered two different glasses of wine, both which were good. The one pictured was a favorite. We ordered the octopus appetizer, which was absolutely phenomenal. My friend, and I shared both plates shown in the photos, and we were extremely happy with the meals. The food was cooked to perfection. I would 100% recommend this restaurant and will be back. I have yet to experience find dining like this with in the Medford area. read more

We tried Decant for the first time on Sunday, April 10 at about 6pm with a reservation for a party of six. We were seated on the outdoor/covered/heated patio. First of all this is a legitimate Italian American family owned restaurant that strives to have everything made fresh and in-house. It is overall a wonderful restaurant. The staff worked so well together and was always checking in on us to make sure that we were satisfied and had everything we needed. We shared the homemade Focaccia for the table, which was great. For my entree, I had the Green Garlic and Wild Mushroom Risotto. Wow, it was so good, so rich and so deliciously buttery! I thought it was excellent. Overall, the entire table thought the meal was A+ and the service was A+ Unfortunately, the atmosphere was marred by a rowdy table of 20 sitting directly behind us. About 5 of the 20 people were getting really rowdy and had too much to drink and were quite obnoxious. I would have asked if we could move; however, it did not appear they had any available areas for six inside. I would return again to Decant, just avoiding a large party if necessary. read more

Amazing! This family owned gem in southern Oregon is hands down one of the most likely places I will return to even though I live out of town. The service, the wine, the food, the ambiance were all impeccable. We ordered the foccocia, farm egg salad, the sunchoke and wild mushroom risotto, the steak frites, and the crispy duck leg with collard greens, and the apple pastry with bay leaf ice cream. The steak was cooked perfectly. The desert was delicious. The duck was super tender. The salad was made with a bacon sherry vinegarette. The risotto was cooked just right.
