Liz (I'm pretty sure was her name) was very rude to my mother while she was working in the fitting room section. My mother's English is not the best, and instead of being patient or helpful, Liz was very disrespectful and spoke to her in a rude manner. Her behavior came across as racist and dismissive. I love the prices here! I was looking for a sleek plain bag for interviews that would hold my porrfolio and tried Ross and H&M first. Ross was a bit pricier because it's designer but it didn't have what I was looking for. Then I tried H&M but the bags were really bulky to be my work bag. DD has affordable purses and a nice bags for work, also half or even a third of the price of H&M and felt like better material. As for the store in general, I worked retail so I know what's up and will give the benefit of the doubt. I noticed some reviews that they were mad about store policy. Yea heaven forbid that a customer not make a store messy or clothes anymore messy. It's store policy, don't be mad at the fitting room attendant. I'm docking one star for location. Being in a ghetto area, you tend to attract ghetto customers then it perpetuates a cycle of bad and mad customers with attitudes that workers deal with daily then that causes unhappy workers. I heard horror stories from a friend about being harassed or seeing fights in a DDs. Personally I never seen or experienced that but I also never been to the Oakland or San Jose location like him so maybe avoid those stores. read more

Today I went to this site in San Leandro to return an item it had all the tags except for the price tag but I had my receipt I had bought 2 one in brown and another one in pink the lady in another store charge for both with the same tag I explained to this lady who help me it was Hispanic very rude no customer service she told if I want it to return it I had to go back to Hayward store when is the same company why I had to go to Hayward if it was next to the gym I go. I was so mad I was talking to my husband and she just got into my conversation which is totally rude and I told her I wasn't talking to her she refuse to help me and ask another person to help me out because I was also making a purchase I had 2 more items with tags but no price when I ask him to check for the price he told me the price in one of the olive blouse it was too high the price when I took him another one similar with price 3.99 or 4.99 the other was a black velvet jacket he told me a price higher according to the manager I ask him what was her name he told me Stephanie according to her the price was 7.99 I said to him no thank you I continue to paying for my 3 items I ask to speak to the store manager and she said she was I couldn't speak to no one else because there was no one I was very upset I ask the guy for the phone number for the corporation number to make a formal complaint he refuses he said just go to the store website he said he didn't have the number so at the moment I was very upset of the whole situation I didn't bother to check my bag I paid and left the store once I got home I check my receipt and my bag he had charge for the total of 5 items stead of 3 so he had charge me for the other 2 items I had ask him to check the price I don't know if he did it in purpose of not I called the store right away a guy by the name Juan answer it I explained to him he said the store was close to go tomorrow and speak to the manager he took my name he said he will let them know but I had to go tomorrow I told him I want my money back because I didn't take those 2 items they were left in the counter top you have cameras you can check them hope corporation can read my post and investigate this issue and resolve this asap and train their staff better and managers who really wants to work and do their jobs and not miss treat customers I will go tomorrow to get my money back and hopping I don't have to see Stephanie I really don't want to deal with her horrible attitude and no customer service other stores had nice and polite managers either good customer service read more

Went to DD's Discount after eating at Chavez Supermarket Taqueria where the food is good! This store has cheap items kinda like a Dollar Store w/ Clothes and everything seems to cost more than $1 that's for sure. I'd only shop here if I lived nearby & had time to kill since it's a bit disorganized inside. There also was a Security Guard so people must be stealing or something. I saw clothes, houseware items, socks, pillows, etc. Bath towels for like $4 instead of $20..things like that. I got only 1 thing since I wasn't really in the mood to shop. It was Northpoint Home Collection 12 pack wash cloth 100% Cotton made in Pakistan, compared at $6, you pay $3.49. With .31 tax it was $3.80. They take credit cards. read more

I shop here frequently but last week a worker who is an older Hispanic lady with a cock eye pick pocketed my phone out my open purse and watched me search frantically for it. I was in the phone with my air pod and noticed it missing from my purse immediately because it started to static. I went to the car thinking it was there but my call wasn't connected to my air pod until I got back in the store in the baby section where the lady was working. Once I had someone call it she came with it saying it was in the floor. It was not I searched the floors o have an IPhone 13 pro which is heavy and you can hear it fall. This DD's Discounts is located in South Hayward right next door to Chavez Supermarket. It used to a be a Big Lots! a long time ago... Upon walking into the store we were greeted with a Hello and welcome to DD's by the security guard by the entrance. There were plenty of yellow shopping carts right by the entrance as well. The store is somewhat organized and somewhat messy at the same time. Some parts of the store is clean and neatly organized, while some sections of the store are messy and unorganized. The isles can easily feel cramped especially the messy sections but other than that it's alright. You can find great bargains here at really good decent cheap prices, you just have to be willing to deal with some parts of the store being messy, and some rowdy customers as well. The checkout process was quick and easy. There was a short little line, but the lines move fast because they have many lines open or at least during our visit. The parking lot is definitely has that sketchy Hayward feel, so beaware while in the parking lot and area... There's also another DD's by Southland Mall. read more

The staffs are nice but the it's so packed at this location. The racks are placed closely to each other, so it's kind of hard to get through sometimes. And people misplace things from time to time, so there's often a mess in between. It would be better if they can check and organize the store more often, just to maintain it. read more

Great clothes and great prices, but the worst customer service. The clothes and shoes have wonderful prices, which is so great, but it's so difficult shopping there because the store is so packed. The aisles are tiny. You can't fit more than one cart down any aisle. The shoes are never in the right place, and or all over the floor which makes pushing the carts almost impossible. The customer service horrific. I understand it's important to get through the long lines, but they call customers up before they are even finished with the customer before the next one. to be honest it's rude. They don't ask how you are, if you found anything okay, they just do your transaction as quickly as humanly possible and before youre even finished, they call the next person up. I've only recently learned about this store as I'm new to the area. I was in the store before covid-19 a couple of times and I have been in the store since covid-19 twice. I am really happy with the selection of items, especially in the clothing departments . There is always an employee within 20 seconds of my looking around if I have a question about something. The store does a good job organizing the items on the racks which obviously is not easy because it's a busy store and many customers are in there. There is always a lot of up-to-date fashion choices at DD's. I like the fresh look of the store, the conscientiousness of the employees , the friendliness of the clerks , the fair prices, the presence of security, the convenient hours open, the generous return policy and the good location. Thank you DD's for providing a comfortable, safe and fun shopping experience. The cashier, Aika, who checked me out ,was personable and professional and provided a great closure to my visit. Worst customer service. I had return but decided to look around and found couple of things I liked. Bad mistake. They have ONE line for purchase and return. I was next in line but apparently there is only 1 cashier for return. 3rd cashier came to help the long line but can only take credit cards. 4-5 customer went ahead of me because MY BAD that I had something to return. At end, I got so frustrated and said I will just make a purchase since return is too difficult of task for DDs. While, cashier was ringing up my purchase I asked why can't you do return as well. Her response- "I don't know but this cash register only does purchase". WOW...it's 2020 and your technology is still 20 yrs behind. One out of those 2 items that I was buying didn't have a tag. I think this is the best one out of san leandro n southland mall... They have great finds here most the tome. Its a hit and miss... Great prices and affordable. It seems to be stocked everytime i come in. Although it can get bisy o recommemd coming here first thing in the morning. Its not so crowded and you wont have to bump into someone in the same aisle. The services are improving but still a bit of a way to go.the shop is cleaner now, staff are friendlier. They don't allow bags in, so be prepared to check them in. I like DD's because they have cheap brand name stuff, like Hanes, Fruit of the Loom, etc. I do not mind cosmetic blemishes so I like buying men's underwear at any DD's. Price is right. I love coming to DD's for the shoes and various household items, however I feel like the customer service is terrible and is only getting worst. When you're in line they yell for the customers to take the hangers off of the clothes, then they call you before the previous guest has even gathered their belongings. They don't even hand you the receipt! To top it off they don't allow you to bring the cart outside no matter how heavy or how many items you may have, I asked the security, considering I had 6 large bags and he would not allow it, nor did he offer to help.
