Although there's always a long line for pizza, you gotta give it up to this awesome food truck. The service is always phenomenal. The BBQ pizza slice was great... the only thing is that it's $4 per slice... a little steep, but totally worth it. I was impressed with the pizza -- it was not the best I've had, but certainly up there with other DC pizza places. It is what you would expect to get from a pizza food truck - and a good option if you feel like having pizza for lunch. They have also added Sweet Potato Tots which sounded great -- I will have to try them next time! You gotta follow this truck and head to it if you're looking for good DC pizza. read more

Tom It means a lot to me as a consumer that you as an owner would reach out to a disgruntled customer. It definitely shows the type of organization that you run and the quality product that you expect to be served to your customers. I'm new to the DC region and am a huge fan of food trucks. I understand fully the issues that can arise from individuals who allow power and control to get in their head. I did notice that as the evening progressed your doors were open and pizzas was being served. Absolutely willing to give you guys another shot. I've been at a couple events where these guys have shown up. Out of the other trucks there this place was the best choice. The pizza was decent and they had a good variety. The price for it not so much but still a good bit of pizza. Try the buffalo chicken and tots! Good! read more

I finally walked over to Franklin Park on my lunch break to try the pizza. And boy am I glad, it was worth the hike! I had pesto chicken pizza, which they were just trying out today apparently. It was sooo good. The crust was perfect crispness! The slices are very generous. For just $5 I got a slice and a coke. Only compaint, they don't take credit cards! I rarely carry cash. Count me in for a slice of DC Slices! I have always been a fan of thin crust pizza (no disrespect intended, Chicago) and was intrigued by the concept of pizza from a truck. The downtown area seems to lack places where one can get quality slices. I walked over to 13th and K one afternoon and indulged in DC Slices. I was delighted to be served a thin crust, large, tasty slice. It was topped off by freshly sliced basil (upn request-no extra charge). They have a very reasonable lunch deal where you can get a slice and a soda for $5. The service is very fast, and the people are friendly. Additional condiments such as oregano and red pepper flakes are outside the truck on a small shelf. If you get a slice by itself it can run you between $3-$4 dollars. I found that for me one slice was enough. Needless to day, I have been back more than once. read more

Big fan of DC Slices. As a young, very childish vegetarian eater, I really love their menu options. I got a slice of cheese and a slice of the very veggie and they were both fantastic. Was happy to see that the crust was thin, foldable, and the slice wasn't very greasy. It's raining today, so the line moved as fast as it took to cook the cheese tots which were also great as the cheese seemed layered throughout the tots and not just on the top. Mind you that this is shredded parmesean and what tasted like chedder and not liquid cheese. I really would've been happy with it either way. One thing I will say is $4 a slice is a bit on the pricy side, but I'm still happy with this. read more

DC Slices 'za passes the NJ native test -- it's not doughy at all with the right balance of snap and chew in the crust. Slices ($4) are large (1/6 of an 18" pie), so being cooked properly ensures it can still be folded to eat. Good sweet sausage on the sausage & onion slice. Tots are also a plus ($4 without topping, more for cheese/bacon). I had the Old Bay tots, which were a bit salty but with enough Old Bay to add to the flavor without overwhelming it. Tots were crunchy and not too greasy, and the portion was large enough to eat as an entree when smothered. The single slice & tots were almost too much for lunch. If they cut the pies into eighths and cut down on the tots a bit, they could do a 2-slice/tots/soda lunch for an even $10 that would be perfect for me. Still, it's worth a visit when they come by my neighborhood. read more

DC Slices catered our office pizza party today. We had a large order (8 pies) which we placed last week. We emailed DC Slices to place the order, and our message was returned quickly. Tom, one of the co-owners, delivered our pizza which was hot and on-time. He was friendly, attentive, and very easy to deal with. The pizza was quite tasty with a thin crust -- the way pizza is supposed to be made. The BBQ Chicken was especially popular. I recommend asking for fresh basil (which was provided on the side of our catering order). Our office is located in the Chinatown area. We had looked into Matchbox and Ella's, but DC Slices offered more bang for the buck, ($20 for an 18 inch pie, regardless of toppings) and my co-workers and I were very happy with the choice. read more

I've been going to DC slices for about a year and half now and I love this place! I would always get two slices: one very veggie and one buffalo chicken. However a few months ago they switched their menu and two better slices came along: the great white and the chicken fajita. The chicken fajita has the right balance of heat and taste, which were scrumptious. The great white also has that splendid aroma flavor which makes one to eat a whole pie! Seriously, ya'll, get it together. I had a serious craving for pizza and was happy to see the DC Slices truck parked outside of my office. The line was pretty long with around 6 or 7 people in front of me, but I thought that since their food was precooked the line would move quickly. HA! I spent 20 minutes waiting in that line. I have never seen anyone in food service move so slowly. When I finally got to the front a very friendly young man asked what he could get me. I ordered cheese pizza and he told me they were out. They were also out of veggie, leaving me with zero options. Friendly guy said he was sorry, but he didn't seem very sorry. Also, it was 12:30! How could they possibly be out already? Maybe they have limited oven space and warming space to keep the cooked pies? No idea. I just know that I left that truck down almost half my lunch hour, still hungry, and extremely unsatisfied. read more

It is hard to screw up the pizza by the slice business, but the winners at DC Slices have some how managed. Horrible, horrible horrible. The pizza costs $4, and the slices are small, tasteless and have the texture of cardboard. I would have felt ripped off if I had payed $1. read more

When I first imagine pizza in my head, I think of pizza like this. Greasy gooey awesomeness. When I first think of a slice of pizza like this, I do not think of spending $4. It's not that I'm super cheap, it's kind of that I'm not, actually. If I'm going to spend $4 on a slice of pizza, I might as well pull out $8 more and buy a larger, better quality, pizza. (I'm looking at the Pi Truck). Isn't crappy food supposed to be cheap? Isn't that why our country has an obesity problem? Tried this again in DC when the Fojol Brothers were out of food. The pepperoni was decent, but the crust comes off as more of a flatbread, without much crisp or dough to it. I applaud them for making the pizza there on the truck, but I think the dough needs work and I would wonder how hot their pizza oven gets. $5 for a slice and a drink seems ok, but it's not filling enough to make a meal. read more

My first dc food truck -- at the high heel race! I'm not sure why people complain about the price; these are huge slices. Not a bad value. But after that it goes downhill. There was a long wait just to order; their timing isn't very good and the physical setup appears inefficient for managing service. Some of the advertised flavors were unavailable, unless I wanted to continue waiting. (no) As it turned out, my pepperoni pizza tasted ok, but it was really greasy. Getting two pieces, on two plates -- from a truck! -- shows they haven't thought through the customer experience. (how am I supposed to eat AND carry this?!) I didn't try the tots; they don't go with pizza, in my view. After trying food trucks now in Austin and dc, I'm not sure they live up to the novelty. This one sure didn't win me over. read more

I had high hopes for this "fresh pizza on board" food truck. It looks pretty nice as far as food trucks go and even broadcasts free WiFi. Unfortunately, I was left disappointed. Their pizza selection consisted of cheese, pepporoni, sausage, and veggie. I decided on the basic cheese, usually a safe bet. All of the slices are $4, and you can throw in a drink for an extra buck. Without the drink deal, one slice is kind of a rip off. The slices are decent sized, but I wouldn't say they are large (If you're really hungry, one slice might not do the job). You can get a much larger slice of pizza for half the price a block or so away at Cafe Cantina on H St. How did it taste though? My slice tasted like it had been cooked hours ago and then reheated. The crust tasted stale and the cheese was slightly congealed. The only thing salvaging the slice was the fresh basil that was sprinked on my pizza, which added freshness and spice to an otherwise dull slice of pie. Too bad the wind blew most of it away. I'm sure if I got the slice when it left the oven, this would be a 3-star or possibly even a 4-star review. But I'll never know, because I doubt I'll be back. On a positive note, the man working the truck was personable and friendly, cracking jokes to waiting customers, which was unfortunately the only refreshing thing about "DC Slices." read more

Got my cheese fix with a slice of cheese pizza and a side of cheese tots from DC Slices. The service was so friendly and speedy that I had to stop by and leave a nice review. I was on my out to grab lunch, and saw this truck parked over at McPherson Sq. Capital One Bank was offering a promotion: Buy one slice, get one free. Sure why not, I can never pass up a deal. I stood in line in what seemed like forever, and finally got to the front. I ordered a slice of Buffalo Chicken, Very Veggie, and a side of Cajun tator tots. First off I didn't realize how HUGE the slices were! I had enough food to last me 2 meals easy. The Cajun tator tots were the star, seasoned very well, and just plain delicious. I was sad though they they didn't actually look like tator tots, but rather coins? It still tasted good, so who cares. The buffalo pizza was also delicious, tasted very fresh, and had a nice kick to it. They topped it with picked jalapenos, and also had buffalo cheese dressing which I passed on. The crust was thin and crispy. All and all a solid pizza, not the best I've ever had - but good nonetheless. I'm torn as to whether I will return. $4 for 2 slices was a deal, but $4 for one slice, outrageous!! read more

Sorry folks, but this pizza is awful. Had a $4 slice yesterday and wondered what the heck the hype was. I think people get excited because it's in a truck and therefore a bit of an adventure to get a slice. Those of us who grew up in the Northeast might remember a frozen pizza brand called Ellios. If you would like a reminder (save for a slightly chewier crust), have a DC Slices slice. Nice people, though, and I am always happy to see new businesses, especially trucks, making a go. read more

I read a review in the WaPo that said that DC Slices was no better than Pizza Movers after a boozy night in Adams Morgan. Harsh! It wasn't that bad, but it wasn't great, either. I visited them at the Curbside Cookoff and they had the second-shortest line - was this a sign. Even the the line was "short" I still waited 15 minutes for a slice. When I got to the front, they were out of the sausage and onion, so I settled for a slice of cheese, with a little fresh basil on it. VERY little fresh basil. The pizza was bland - I'd put it on par with Domino's. One thing the Post overlooked in its review of DC Slices: at least at Pizza Movers, you don't have to wait 15 minutes for a slice. read more

I didn't think this pizza was half bad. I wouldn't go out of my way to get it, but I just happened to be walking by and thought pizza sounded good at the moment. I got a slice of plain cheese and I was kicking myself that I didn't say yes to the chopped fresh basil on top (what was I thinking?!) The slice isn't that big for $4...For $4 I was expecting a slice the size of my head. The crust is good but kind of floppy and is covered with just oily enough, nicely browned bubbly cheese. The wait was super long for not-so-great pizza. one of the guys in the truck was just texting as the guy who was serving foot was moving at 10mph. I'm a new yorker, so i know a good slice when i taste one. i was hesitant at first because $4 for a slice is pretty ridic. but I look at other people's slices and they looked good, so I waited 20 min in line, to be handed a luke-warm slice of pizza with a subpar crust and cheese that was plastic-y and not gooey. So $4 a slice may be pretty steep, but I will pay that much for a slice if it's really good and given a certain level of desperation (e.g. no good pizza places nearby). The pizza is pretty good and much tastier than I expected for pizza from a food truck. However, my two slices (sausage, pepperoni, onions and buffalo chicken) were not hot, but only somewhat warm. I'm sure there are a whole slew of logistical issues in trying to serve delicious pizza from a food truck, but I at least wish they would heat the pizza up in a hot, hot oven for a minute or two prior to serving it. When I ordered my pizza, the guy just took a couple slices out of a warmer. I would give this place 4 stars if they could solve this lukewarm pizza issue. read more

Delicious, cheesy pizza! I got a sausage and pepperoni and it was PERFECT paired with the beer from Port City! The tots were delicious as well - highly recommend the Parmesan garlic tots with sriracha ketchup. The tots are round like the hash browns from chick fil a, which made them perfectly crispy all around. Best of all, the staff were incredibly friendly! I'm somewhat of a pizza whore with no real excuse to why it took me sooo long to grab a slice from here. They happened to be at the Great American Festival and the aroma pulled me in. I ended up ordering 4 pepperoni, 1 Hawaiian and tator tots (!) The pepperoni wasn't ready and the girl asked if I wanted to get all the pizza at once. Nice option IMO and they did in 5 mins. Delicious thin crusted, not as greasy with fresh basil/oregano options - just typing this is making me hungry. If you ever see this truck is suggest you stop and grab a slice. A DC Slices truck has been sitting in a Subcamp of the World Scout Jamboree unopened for three plus days. Can't review the pizza because this business took on a task where expectations were not managed. No feedback on open hours, or thinking about the THOUSANDS of scouts and leaders who saw but could not purchase. Poor planning and customer management. SERVICE FAIL. read more

I tried DC Slices hoping to find an option for a decent slice of pizza at a good price. What I found was unfortunately less than decent. The slice of pepperoni I ordered was very greasy and the cheese was tasteless. The crust was ok- it was a nice thickness (similar to a NY slice) but was a bit limp. I think a little more time in the oven might have been better. On the plus side, at $5 for a slice and soda it was pretty cheap for a lunch in DC. I also liked that they put fresh basil on top and had extra cheese and red pepper flakes available to shake on. I tried a slice of veggie pizza and some cajun tatter tots here. There wasn't anything wrong with either item, but they weren't particularly great, or particularly cheap. The price to quantity of food ratio is pretty bad and the flavors don't make up for it. They do put fresh basil on the slices though, that's nice at least. read more
