Very cool concept, I mean what isn't to like about pizza out the back of a truck especially since they make the pizza in the back of the truck. Unfortunately the pizza is just okay. Think your basic mall food court pizza and you'll have what DC Slices has to offer. That doesn't mean the pizza is bad or anything but it definitely isn't anything spectacular. Went with a classic slice of pepperoni and it was okay, could have been bigger and a little thicker but for what it was it did the job to make me slightly full. 4 dollars is just about the right price for a slice this size. Customer service was great, guy delivering the pizza was friendly and helpful, nothing overly special with him either though. All in all, DC Slices is okay, nothing overly special but could be worth a visit if you see it on your block. read more

This pizza is something similar to NY style. It's a little thin, a little crispy and a little small. The bigger problem is that it's awfully expensive for most slices. $4 will get you a single slice of cheese, or a slice of pepperoni, or a slice of meatball, or a slice of veggie, or a slice of sausage and onion, or a slice of... Well.. You get it. No matter how many toppings, it's $4. $4 for a slice that should cost about $2.50 tops. At least it's fresh - but you may have to wait a while for it. This is not the truck to come to if you're in a rush. Don't bother with the pizza here. Come here for the tater tots. In fact, if not for the tots, I would have given DC Slices 2 stars. For the same $4 that you would have paid for a slice of pizza, you get a sizable helping of plain, cajun or old bay tots. For some extra, you can get cheese, bacon, or a pizza style. read more

Amazing pizza, superb restaurant quality from a food truck. This review is for the buffalo chicken pizza and veggie slices. The buffalo chicken is as good as everyone says it is, the cashier added bleu cheese and fresh basil which only enhanced an already good slice. The veggie slice had delicious tomatoes and crunchy green peppers with red onions. The sauce was a bit heavy but it was robust and left an excellent aftertaste. I haven't followed a food truck on Food Truck Fiesta since Bada Bing, add DC Slices to that shortlist. read more

4.5 stars. The slices are good, definitely on par with take out in Boston and New York but not quite gourmet. The fact they offer mozzarella sticks and tater tots only bumps their rating up even more. Get the fresh basil on your slice, it adds a nice touch and smells delicious. For as long as the line can get, they do a good job of keeping people moving and updating you about your order if is in the oven baking. I'm a simple girl when it comes to pizza. As such, I got a slice of pepperoni from these guys outside of Dodge City the other night to satisfy my late night cravings. Service: Awesome. These guys are fun and seem to genuinely enjoy interacting with customers. Food: As tasty a slice as I've had in DC. I'm amazed a business advertised as DC Slices no longer serves single slices of pizza, but since I drove all the way to South Arlington from Bailey's Crossroad I decided to support them. The pizza was a tad bit too greasy, the tater tots were unseasoned, and there's no parking my the location. Each slice is just like the next. This is a near impossible task in the Pizza world. The pizza is always hot. The cheese is always stringy. The sauce has the right amount of Italian spice. My face lights up whenever I see DC Slices Truck. I would be delighted if all Sbarro's were replaced by DC Slices! If you spot their Food Truck, order a minimum of two slices of pizza. The pepperoni and sausage pizza is FANTASTIC! I usually don't go to food trucks because I think they are mostly mediocre and overpriced but this pizza truck was great. $4 for a pizza isn't the best price but it's better quality than anything in NoMa (your other pizza option is Harris Teeter). The girls working in the truck are super friendly and they even have a little sun visor thing on their truck for the hot summer days. The pizza is thin crust and very filling. THey also have tater tots and other side dishes. IS IT CHEAP? Not really for pizza, but I think this was a good pizza experience you should try at least once. read more

Excellent NY-esque pizza slices that are large for the price, full of flavor, and just the right amount of crispy and soggy to fold without snapping or slopping, respectively. The cheese and sausage/onion slices are by far the best, but the pepperoni is a close third (with a little dose of added red pepper flakes and oregano). Avoid the ranch at all cost - tastes like Kraft, unfortunately - as well as the plain tots. The latter of which is, simply stated, bland and greasy. read more

So I've been here twice, once at the end of a late night when the pizza tasted phenomenal, and now once at lunch where I was very satisfied. $4 a slice seems a bit steep but the slices are large and an $8 two slice lunch definitely filled me up. The pepperoni is delicious and the addition of fresh basil really lightens it up and gives it a bright punch that other pepperoni slices usually lack. The Buffallo chicken is good but not great. I wish they mixed in some buffalo sauce into the the tomato sauce. IMO Ledo's makes the best Buffchick pizza around and that is their technique. The crust had a nice crunch with just the right amount of chewiness for a NY style slice and the topping selection is excellent. Sriracha is delicious on almost anything, but great on pizza crust. Think they deserve more credit than they get for serving solid and satisfying pizza all from the back of a truck. read more

I got the pepperoni slice which was thin crust, decent crispiness, foldable, and wasn't greasy. The tater tots were awesome, absolutely awesome. They take a few minutes to make but they're so crispy and tasty, I actually went back for more. The tots are the flat circular version rather than the cylinder version, which adds to their awesome crispiness. Almost all pizza is great pizza but D.C. slices is one of those places that really takes it next level. A piece is $4 and the slice is a meal alone however, they offer sides that always too good to resist. My all time favorite slice is the smoked gouda slice. The slice has chicken, which I pick off, but its worth picking through the meat for this slice. Gouda on a pizza is always a good idea and with the added fresh basil it's worth waiting in this trucks always long line for. The crust is always crisp but not hard and your slice will always be warm. They have many different slices and while they have their regular slices they have new ones that they rotate on and off their menu so there could be something different for you even if you go daily. I have also had their tots, which are greasy and great! I have had their fried ravioli which comes with red sauce to dip. The ravioli is fried so it's super heavy so I kind of regretted getting a piece of pizza too because it was just too much for me. However, they were incredible and worth every calorie. They were crunchy on the outside and creamy on the inside. Absolutely one of the best things to make it's way into the deep fryer. The guys who work in the truck are super friendly and when you hand them your card they will always read your name on it and say thank you, followed by your name. Got DC Slices last week in Franklin Square. Waited in a long line in the hot sun - ended up trying to decide between the sausage & onion or the BBQ chicken slices. I asked the guy about each and since the BBQ Chicken was on its way out of the oven, I decided to go with that. Asked for the fresh basil, based on other reviews, and was disappointed to hear that it had fallen off the counter and spilled in the truck! :( The guys were super nice and apologized. During the conversation and ordering process, there was a mix up and I was given two slices. They quickly said to keep the extra slice on the house and were very nice about it. I was impressed with the pizza -- it was not the best I've had, but certainly up there with other DC pizza places. It is what you would expect to get from a pizza food truck - and a good option if you feel like having pizza for lunch. Overall, I would give 3.5 stars - but I bumped it up due to the customer service. They have also added Sweet Potato Tots which sounded great -- I will have to try them next time! read more

I have frequently seen DC Slices around at various festivals and events, but have never thought to really visit them because, well, it's just pizza, and typically I gravitate towards food truck items that I'd have a harder time finding elsewhere. DC Slices had a $3 slice of breakfast pizza, so I finally decided to try it, despite not particularly being a fan of breakfast pizza. After having just a single slice of theirs, I'm reevaluating if I am not so much a fan of breakfast pizza. The slice was quite large for $3, the crust was crisp but not burnt, and there was an abundance of both egg and bacon perfectly spread across the slice. The bacon was crisp, and the slight bit of country gravy on the slice added an additional layer of flavor. Buffalo chicken pizza is my absolute favorite (and I hear they have a tasty one!), so I'd definitely seek out DC Slices if they were serving up again at an event in the future. read more

This pizza really is great, it's among some of the best I've ever had, and it comes out of a truck! I first had DC Slices at Truckeroo. I was impressed by the way they managed the long line, and how fresh and consistent the pizza was despite the insane amount of people. The cheese was just right, the dough was perfectly cooked, and the sauce tasted fresh and delicious! They also ask if you'd like fresh basil on your pizza. I said yes and was certainly glad I did because it added a little something extra that was just awesome. Also, the service was very friendly. The piece that I was given was a little smaller than how they usually cut them, and without me even saying anything, the server gave me back a dollar and said that they wouldn't charge me full price for a slice that's not as big as their standards. I wouldn't have even realized, but I thought it was really cool that they're that committed to their product. 2.5 Stars Really. DC Slices offers very acceptable slices of pizza along with a long line and a semi-high per slice price ($4 each, although the slices are big). If you hit them up at the very start or very end of the lunch hour there will be less of a line. It will also go quicker if you order whatever they have ready to go and not wait for them to heat up your first choice. Best of those I've tried so far is the Buffalo Chicken (which is actually pretty great); but pepperoni, sausage, and veggie pizzas are fairly standard fare. I have tried the pizza here twice, lured by the fact that one of the owners is supposedly a Philly native and I know my people can do pizza... But. The pizza was good...I had both the cheese and the veggie and they were quite good by pizza standards for DC. I was also lured to the thought of the pure decadence of having both pizza AND tater tots covered in cheese AND bacon for lunch after a few weeks of being good and eating "healthy.' Here was the problem, both times: timing. You can't seem to order two things of a different nature at the same time and expect both to be ready at the same time and hot. Now I know I am being bitchy here but if you're gonna do pizza and taters, you've got to be able to do both at the same time...or at least within 15 minutes of each other. The first time I got cold pizza (which took to reheating pretty well) and piping hot, wonderful taters. Second time I got lukewarm and stuck-together taters and hot, delicious pizza. When I saw the dude stick my pizza under the heat lamps the first time, I thought "NOOOO!!! I will skip the taters, don't turn my pizza into plastic." Second time I saw the taters go under the heat lamp and realized that I had a choice: either I had delicious taters or I had delicious pizza---but I was not allowed both. I have been trying to figure out how to "game the system" by bribing friends to order one while I order the other but, since no one seems to be willing to sacrifice on the altar of the Tater Tot, I have to stick to one for the time being. I had a slice of pepperoni pizza and that day they were giving out hot sauce as well. The pizza was good pizza, the slice was worth a DC $4. It's not the worlds greatest pizza but it's much better than a chain (like Dominos, Pizza Hut, etc). This truck is the real deal! Slices are around 4 bucks and a whole pie is around 20 some dollars. I got a slice of cheese and cajun tater tots which I totally recommend. My entire meal came out to around 9 dollars but I was stuffed after I finished eating. The pizza slice was pretty big and the tots were crunchy and not too greasy. Kind of caught between a 3 and 4 star, but with the truck being out on a grey and grungy day and catering to the DC Lunch crowd, I'll pop them up to a 4 star... The pizza itself is average.. a nice thin crust with just a little bit of dough (as opposed to the cracker thin of some places) but not as much as a normal hand tossed pizza. They are definitely generous with toppings on the pizza, and the slice itself is huge.. taste, to me, was about average - no tastes popped out at me, but when baking for the masses, average is sometimes better. I also tried the bacon and cheese tots, and those were quite tasty.. definitely no complaints about them. Though I will admit the tots were my second option for a side. I was hoping they would have Wings today, but they didn't... ah well.. I don't think I'll end up stalking DC Slices for pizza, but for an affordable, decent food truck meal, they are tough to beat. One slice of pizza, one of the more expensive sides, and a drink (canned soda or water) for $11.00.
