After 7 months of paying $224+ total, I decided enough was enough. Originally, I was supposed to close my unit out on April 29 but had to shift it to May 1st. Imagine my surprise when I show up with moving crew and i received the info that I did. The lock that was on my unit, I didn't have the code to, I wasn't late on my rent, so I didn't understand why it was there. I go to the office and speak to Hope (blonde older white lady), and I forget the other lady's name (but she tried to explain everything). I ask about the lock and the other lady speaks up about having to pay $224 to be able to close out the unit. She states it's the first of the month and unfortunately, if you're still on the grounds, you have to pay for that month. I argue, I'm clearing out my unit today, why would I have to pay for 30 days, and it won't be in use. I explained the scheduling and before I became too upset, I asked for management number, not aware that they were managers. Hope explains it's policy and directs me to the number on the door; I call the number and once option 4 came up, it prompted, "speak to a manager." The system already knew it was me based on my number. The service connects me to a manager, the voice sounds familiar, I look up and it's hope on the phone. I come back inside and I ask her why she would direct me to a number that's going to direct me right back to her. She claimed corporate must not be answering, but corporate was never an option, at least not up until option 4. Hope was able to get in contact with her boss, someone from corporate. She wasn't able to get the $224 waived and let me know that if I didn't pay the $224, they would report it to the credit bureau. I WILL NEVER DO BUSINESS with public storage ever again, no matter where I am in the world. I get that it's a business but to force someone to have to pay for a month when they won't be there and will purposely try to affect your credit when you see it as stealing and don't want to pay, tells me everything I need to know about them. Crooks & thieves! Avoid Public Storage at ALL costs, if you can!

Griffin Moving & Storage - Wrapping this carefully to go into storage

Let me start by saying, I hate moving. So for me to give Griffin Moving and Storage a 5 star…read morerating you know they had to be on their game through the entire process. And given I have moved MANY times in my life, I have plenty of moving companies to compare them to. Mine was a complicated move. I had furniture and storage coming from another Allied carrier up in Chicago delivered to the Griffin facility that I needed to sort through and determine if the items were going in the new house, being thrown away, or staying in storage. Then I had another house where some of the things were going into to storage and some of the things were going into the new house. The teams from Griffin handled all the complications with ease. My first interaction was at their facility where I went through the 7 vaults from Chicago and divided it up. The team there was great, friendly and personable. I didn't realize that this team, led by Joey, would be the team that I worked with all week. That was nice as I think it gave me additional comfort in "knowing" the people who were handling my goods. This was a three day move- packing, moving of the house and then moving of the storage. Each day the teams showed up on time, ready to work and put in long, hard days. I also liked the care that they took to make sure they weren't damaging anything. The doorways were padded, the floors covered and TLC was given to everything they handled. I did not have to file any claims for damage to the premises or the furniture (it's important to note that most of the furniture went into storage and it was mostly boxes that were moved into the new house) And as for wrapping the things going into storage? Well they were padded, and all wrapped up tight in plastic so hopefully when I need those items again, they will look just like they did when they pulled them out of the house. The only thing that didn't go exactly as planned, but that Griffin immediately solved for, was a discrepancy between what the upfront surveyor thought was moving and what dispatch actually had to move. So my advice here is be as clear as you possibly can on the upfront to avoid any additional charges. From a pricing standpoint, they are competitive. Definitely not the cheapest, but do you really want cheap when you are moving all of your personal things? They send you an estimate and will do a real time true up after the move based on hours. All in all, I still hate moving and I am typing this surrounded by boxes , but if you have to move either locally or across state lines, you should talk with Griffin Moving!

Wife and I moved from Austin to Fort Lauderdale in January and used Berger Allied. The entire move,…read morefrom load estimate to delivery, went smoothly. The South Florida vibe didn't work for us so we decided to move to Palm Springs, CA. We contacted Berger again but they only have an office in Tampa. They provided Griffin Moving and Coleman Worldwide Moving as potential Allied agencies in the Lauderdale area. I chose Griffin because their reviews were slightly less negative than Coleman. The load estimate consultation was conducted virtually, rather than in-person. We were shipping one vehicle and I was told that Allied would be the shipper and the transport would not be brokered out. A few days later I was contacted by Montway Auto Transport to discuss details. They were contracted by Sirva, the parent company of Allied, and since I had already read their abyssmal reviews I contacted Griffin to find out what was going on. The consultant, Scott Durst, said Sirva would be the customer and that the car transport would not be brokered, except that is exactly what Montway does. Vinny, the Alied driver, and his crew loaded the household goods on 10/8. The auto transport truck also picked up the car that day with a delivery window of 10/15-10/23. Once the moving truck left we did too, trying to get to north Florida ahead of Hurricane Milton. We even passed the car transport truck on I-95 so we knew it was en route. We had an airtag in the car and saw that he made it to near the FL/AL state line that night. From that point it sat in Austin for five nights, then six nights in Dallas. Montway said the truck had mechanical issues and they were working day and night to fix. Pretty convenient that both locations were auto transport businesses. As the delivery window started barrowing and we knew the car was still in Dallas we contacted Montway and that is when the week of gaslighting (lies) really started. I also contacted Griffin Moving asking for assistance with getting straight answers. Jack Griffin, the miving coordinator, responded six days later after an additional request by my wife. Through 6-7 Montway staff that I spoke with, I was given new delivery estimates that would be impossible to achieve, location updates of El Paso and Phoenix (car still in Dallas). Finally we tracked it going through West Texas to Van Horn. Montway called and said driver was pulled over and police instructed him to stop driving for eight hours. He actually made it to Phoenix that night as indicated by airtag. The car was delivered two days after the due date and Griffin only communicated the last couple of days. The reason they got two, instead of one star, is that Vinny and his crews on both ends were great. Vinny was one day late but that is understandable since his house was in the track of Milton and he had two pickups in the storm track prior to heading west. Jack said he doesn't put stock in Yelp or Google reviews but I do and they reflect our experience.

We purchased full replacement value insurance on our move and our storage. In our move, two pieces of 3-D art pieces, both designated as high value, were both packed in a small moving box facing one another. Both pieces were ripped, and we had to initiate an insurance claim for those pieces as well as other damaged items. Our guest room furniture was a few years old, barely used and in excellent almost new condition prior to the move. After 10 months in storage the white furniture was stained with imprints of blue moving rugs down to the zig zag print. There are small blue dots on the finish indicating the furniture was subject to moisture. I contacted the company and was told it would fall under insurance. I left the furniture exactly as delivered assuming they would send an inspector to assess the damage and cost of repair. I submitted my claim in August and contacted the company every few weeks with no response. In October, I initially heard from another company that handles claims for A-1, but when they asked A-1 for $250 to cover the visit of a furniture repair firm, the claim was immediately turned over to their insurance agent and denied on the exact same day. Every three weeks I asked for an update, with no response. In December, I was forwarded a back-dated letter from the Insurance agent saying the damages were not covered and to contact A-1. My name was misspelled. The insurance agent never contacted me. No inspection of the items was completed. The Company President has denied they have any responsibility for the items. A-1 packed, moved and stored these items. They used their own moving blankets and materials. No one would return my calls to provide any explanation at all. I have yet to receive a phone call back from the A-1. I have only received cold email responses from the President to contact the Insurance agent. Insurance told me to contact A-1. It is a great game of "not it." No customer should be ignored and treated in this manner. If you want to pay and store items, in order to receive your furniture damaged and with no protection as a customer, this is the moving and storage company for you.
