We had an issue with one of the TVs, so we reached out to Davis Electronics to service it. His turn around time was about a week which wasn't bad and the TV has been working fine ever since. Mr. Davis has responded to the pandemic constraints. He picked up my malfunctioning 5 CD/DVD Sony player from my home, repaired it in his shop and returned it it quickly, for a total cost of $125.00. CD players, like turntables, are gradually going out of existence--at least for now. I was glad to extend the player's life and my access to my CD and movie collection. Useless, dishonest and unethical are three of the more polite words I can use to describe Mr Davis and his fraudulent business. While I would rather not waste any further time on this business, I feel I have a duty to warn my fellow Yelpers. Long story short, he claimed to have repaired my TV, got his money, the TV worked for a day, he promised to come back and fix after 12 calls over a 2 month period, he never did, I finally got a hold of him after another 3 months(claimed he had been out of the country the entire time), I asked for a full refund and have never heard from him or been able to reach him since. I believe his F rating from the Better Business Bureau supports my experience and warning. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! I felt compelled to write this - as I have no idea how the previous comments could be about this guy. There is a chance they are owner's comments I suppose. This man knows about electronics as much as google research will tell him. He charges a diagnostic fee, without any discovery towards what the actual issue is, only the approximate fix that in my case was: "there could be 3 or 4 things wrong with this, and the approximate fix for this would be around $500, so let me know if you want to do it". He did not unscrew or take the TV apart, did not have a multi meter (or know how to use one) to test if a particular part was the culprit. Basically looked at it, confirmed the same thing I already told him, and charged an "inspection fee". In comparison, another technician who charged $65, actually took the TV apart, using a multi-meter and schematics for the TV figured out where the flow is wrong. Wrote down the part number needed to replace, and provided with an exact fix for that, or gave us an option to fix it ourselves, after showing how the part is installed. Do yourself a favor, call someone who uses a multi-meter - as that is the only way to find out the bad flow of electricity - and is prepared with schematics for your particular TV. "Davis electronics" is a waste of your time and money, as it was mine. I want to be clear that is review has 0% bad feeling towards the man - he is just trying to make a buck. But he simply has no experience or knows what he's doing with various TV's. read more

I recommend this service. Mr. Davis was super easygoing and followed up himself - easy and reliable. I didn't have to hound or hassle in any way. He was very polite during home visits, transparent in his pricing and gave tips on maintenance and avoiding further damage to my products. I had several broken stereos. Mr. Davis found a time when he could visit my home and assess the damage. He took the products that needed repairs. He repaired a broken speaker for just $15 - dirt cheap. The other stereo was more expensive to fix simply because Mr. Davis had to order a replacement part from the company. He gave me cost estimates beforehand so I could decide if I wanted the repairs and an itemize receipt at the end, with a promise that he would come back and fix anything if it wasn't functioning properly. I now have two fully-functioning stereos, very happy I didn't have to buy replacements. Everything has been working perfectly for the last two weeks, since he finished repairs. The only delay was in waiting for the replacement parts to ship to DC. The entire process took about 10 days. I have a flexible work schedule and was able to meet Mr. Davis at my home during a week day, so it's possible this may not be as easy for every who's strictly at their desk from 9-5. I won't pretend to know how other customers' experiences were, but I suspect some comes from white people with a strong sense of self-entitlement who are uncomfortable around people of color, or people with accents. Take the strong criticism on this page with a grain of salt, Mr. Davis clearly knew his stuff and probably undercharged me for the time he himself spent on repairs. After our Samsung TV stopped working following a freak accident, we tried diagnosing the problem through FIOS support and Samsung help. Nothing worked. We then called Davis Electronics, and a wonderful repair man came, figured out what had happened and took our TV away for repairs -- which required replacing a part. It's back to working perfectly! This is a follow-up on Mr. Davis Electronics IN-HOME service. After a few days in the shop, Mr. Davis called me and indicated that the turner on my 37 inch Panasonic TV was badly damaged, (my fault) and the whole board needed to be replaced, which was too costly. My TV was delivered on September 6, 2013 with a VIDEO OUT 2 connection replacement board. Once delivered, we plugged up, and I was SO PLEASED. My TV was HD quality! I got ripped off by him. All it was where 3 back lights that went out inside the Tv! He tells me it's more than that, and something melted in the TV. Really dude! I call another Legit TV guy, and he fixed it!! For 185, a lot better than 400.00 for another tv. U do the math. Then he had a nerve to tell me it's not worth it. My Yamaha RX-V375 Receiver recently stopped powering on after 3 years of steady use. I found Mr. Davis here on Yelp, and while I was a bit hesitant because of the wide range of reviews, decided to give him a shot. As other reviews have mentioned, he charges a flat fee of $35 for home pick-up, drop-off, and diagnostic. I called him on a Saturday, and he came to pick up my receiver that same afternoon, which was very convenient for me since I work during the week. About 4 or 5 days later, he called back with a quote to fix the problem: $85 plus tax, for parts and labor. I gave him the go-ahead, and once it was ready, he called to schedule a convenient time to drop it off. All in all, I paid about $125 for the repair work without ever having to leave my home, and the whole process took about 2 weeks. A month after I got it back, the receiver is still working the way it should. Mr. Davis also said he'll give me a 90-day guarantee on the work, which was nice. I can't speak for any of the 1-star reviews, and will update this review if anything changes, but my experience was nothing but positive. read more

After looking around for options in the area that weren't Best Buy, I settled on trying out Davis Electronics. It was my first experience with TV repair and all told I'd say it went really well. Davis is great, has owned his shop for 25 years and handles everything so there's no information gap between who you speak to initially and who does the work. It was a flat fee of $35 for him to come to my apartment, remove the guts of my tv, take it back to his shop and get me an estimate for the repair. My estimate was a reasonable one and worth it over buying a new tv and he came back to my apartment and re-installed the repaired parts. He came on a Saturday and my TV was up and running the following Saturday. Very nice guy and experienced repairman. Only reason I didn't give the full five stars was because he had to cancel our first appointment at the last minute, and there were some delays on the Saturday that he came back to to the install. I had a very good experience with Mr. Davis. My bedroom TV first lost its video, and then a few days later the sound. I thought it was the relay system from my main TV to the bedroom. Mr. Davis came to my apartment in the timeframe we agreed upon, checked out the relay system, and found it to be working. He took the set with him and called a few days later to say that it should be scrapped, and I should buy a new one, recommending two brands. So I bought a new one, and he came over to set it up, arriving on time, and working efficiently. His charges were certainly reasonable, $45 for the initial visit, and $90 for both the diagnosis of the old set and for the installation of the new one. read more

I nearly kissed and hugged Mr. Davis I was so pleased with his service. Needed an old Kenwood amp repaired and feared that I would have to toss out the system...which I dearly love. I received great service from Mr. Davis after a lightning strike sent a surge through my Roku box into my flat screen TV frying the electronics. He found a replacement for the affected circuit board and did the repair for less than 1/5th of the cost of replacing the TV. It was a joy working with him. We recently (as in last week, December 15th) had an electrical problem and that resulted in the main board of our large flat screen TV blowing out. I did some research and came upon Mr. Davis of Davis Electronics. This could not have been a better customer experience. Mr. Davis came out THE SAME DAY I called him (which I did not and would not expect of course if we did not call him at a convenient time for that to happen). He worked on our TV for over an hour and charged a small amount for the visit. He told us we needed a new board, and would price them for us and get back. Within five business days he had secured the board, brought it back, and fixed our TV. Not only did this happen at a very fair price-- and I believe in paying people adequately for their labor--but he is the nicest, most pleasant and friendly person you could meet. I HIGHLY recommend Mr. Davis if you need television repair. read more

I have tried to use local business when possible twice I have brought items there for repair one time my camcorder they had it for 6 months and never fixed second time my flat screen tv they have had for 7 months and still not fixed they are worthless as a business in my use and I'm still waiting to get my tv back I will suggest you take your business else ware I am goin to see about reporting them to the better business bureau . Davis is definitely the person to call if you need your TV repaired. We have a Samsung TV that just stopped turning on. We thought for sure we would have to buy a new one. Then my husband found Davis Electronics and we are so glad he did! Davis came and picked up our TV. We paid him $35 to diagnose the problem. In two days he called back to tell us he could fix it and to give us the price. It was about half the cost of buying a new TV, so we were thrilled. He completed the job very quickly and had the TV back to us in a couple more days. He is very nice and thoughtful. We completely recommend him! read more

I have the same story as some others have here -- Mr. Davis claimed to have fixed my product, but in fact did not. My Bose radio got wet, and it would still turn on, but you could mostly only hear static. I called Bose to see if it could be repaired. They offer repairs, but this model was over 20 years old, so they said they couldn't fix it, but offered to sell me a new radio for $200 -- $100 less than the going retail price. I thought maybe I could get it fixed for less. I called Mr. Davis and he said it would be $40 to look at the radio, and I said OK and he came and picked it up. He called some time later to tell me it would be $90 to fix it. I said OK, and I mistakenly believed he meant since I paid $40 already, that it would be $50 more, but it was $90 more. No matter -- I didn't say anything, I paid it and thought at least I was helping a local businessman. The trouble is, the radio didn't work. All of the buttons were messed up -- when I pressed FM it would switch stations. When I tried to select a station, the volume spun up and up, out of control -- pressing the volume down button didn't help, I had to unplug it. I called Mr. Davis back to tell him the problem, and he told me to unplug it and plug it in again. I did, but that didn't solve the problem. After that, I left many messages, but he would not return my calls. I paid $130 to fix a 20-year-old radio when I could have gotten a brand-new one for $70 more. Mr. Davis does not know how to fix a Bose radio, and he is unwilling to try or give me my money back. Don't trust him. read more

I was having trouble with my LCD TV. I called Davis Electronics, explained the problem, and Mr. Davis showed up at my home 3 hours later to pick up the TV and take it in for diagnostics. Two days later he called and had the problem solved, parts ready to be picked up, and repairs ready to be made, if I approved. I approved, and the next day Mr. Davis called to say the TV was ready, and could he deliver it on Saturday morning. He showed up on time, set up my TV, and accepted payment by check. I have a Samsung DLP from 2006 that had a problem of shutting off randomly after being turned on. Sometimes this would occur after just having the TV on for 10 minutes, or sometimes would not happen for a few hours. But the problem was always present. I found Mr. Davis online and decided to give him a chance after reading some good reviews. I was not let down. Mr. Davis came to my house, took off the back cover of the set and removed the power supply and lamp chassis to take to his shop to work on. Within a week he was back at my house with the repaired parts and reinstalled it to the TV. Unfortunately, his initial fix did not solve the problem. This is where Mr. Davis really shined. He came back the next day and this time took the whole TV set back to his shop, at no additional charge. After some troubleshooting, he got to the core of the problem and fixed it, then ensured the set was fixed by running/monitoring it in his shop for a week. He delivered the TV, and it has worked flawlessly since. While it appears very difficult to find a reliable TV repair shop in the DC Metro area, I would highly recommend giving Mr. Davis your business. Not only was he very knowledgeable and dedicated to 100% satisfaction, he's also a very nice guy and someone you can enjoy giving your business to. Very fair price for the work as well. read more
