One of the best locksmith in SF. I brought my gate lock to fix it at the store. The store looked like he was away but I called him to ask for help. Then he opened his business for me. I showed up 5mins before his closing time. My gate lock was having hard time to turn and open, so Mr. Duong helped me with changing the cylinder and making sure to keep the same key. He also taught me how to install back the lock. He was very professional, friendly and fast. The price was super affordable, so I gave him tips for his hard work. It was 4 times cheaper than buying a new lock. I asked him when he usually at the store? He told me he is usually at the store mostly in the afternoon, but give him a CALL before coming to the store. He does morning trips or appointments to fix people's locks. I definitely recommended him to my friends and family. read more

In the past Davis has helped us at our house as well as our neighbor next-door when they got locked out. I've had very good service from him. However I have been trying to get in touch with him since December 2023. Davis is a very responsive lock smith. I was locked out of my place. Called several shops, they all took forever to respond. Davis picked up the phone and told me he will be here in 20 minutes with a very reasonable quote. Once he arrived, he was able to open the door quickly. The whole experience was pleasant. We agreed on a fee to forcibly open and remove the heavy safe for disposal. Other locksmiths were unable to provide a disposal service for the safe. Davis Duong is a professional locksmith, and that means you should adjust your expectations just a bit! This is not your typical hardware store keying. He travels to places to do rekeying, update security measures, change door handles, add in dead bolts, and such. It makes it rather convenient that he comes to you, but that means making an appointment. I can understand that if you show up at his place of business expecting traditional counter service that you might be a bit surprised. His work is terrific: very clean, nothing rigged, everything professionally installed, and keys that are not going to wobble in a lock. It's certainly a different level of quality and service than what a typical hardware store provides, that's for sure! read more

Very rude. Showed up during business hours to find the shop closed, called their number to see if they were there and a man picks up says they're not open on saturdays. I told him, it says on yelp these are your business hours so maybe you should look into that. He gets irritated and says "you should call them and fix that." And then hangs up. Wow ok. And you hear that click of the door shutting behind you. When that happened to me, I was lucky to find Davis Duong on Yelp. This is where I miss my wife and kids. My master bedroom has a dead-bolt lock, but a separate shower-room. I accidently left my set of keys on my lanyard on my work pants. I was about to take a shower and the door abruptly slammed shut behind me and thus locking me out. Yes, "butt-naked and freezing my ass off!" I was able to called Davis Duong Locksmith, which is located only two blocks away. And he said, he'll be there in 10-15 minutes. Meanwhile while waiting for him, I was taking a shower. Then after my shower, and flossing my grills, the locksmith rang the doorbell. With just a Dora the explorer beach towel around my naked waist, he came in with just a small set of tools and pry the dead-bolt lock open. The whole process took only one minute and costed my "naked" butt $60.00. He's been doing this a long time and seen many similiar incidents like mine. He also has a credit card machine in his van. And I used my Visa for my misfortune. My holiday-pay did come in handy unfortunately. In addition to his one minute work for $60.00, he made a joking remark and asked me, "aren't you freezing?" This guy drove over in 5 minutes when I got locked out of my apartment. I think it was a little after 8pm, but he's available for emergencies after hours so you should try calling anyway. Getting the door open takes anywhere from 5-20 minutes , but he's really nice and chats with you during, so it's not awkward while you stare at him working. He also has a key cutting machine in the back of his van, so make sure you get a few copies afterward. read more

I see some reviews describe him as rude or difficult to understand, but listen people, welcome to San Francisco. Not everybody sounds like a Midwestern newscaster on NPR. Swung by after work on a weekday to make a copy of my keys. My roommate had her jacket stolen with her keys in the pocket so I was being nice and made her copies. I had a motorcycle seat lock that was unable to lock and I needed help, so I took the lock cylinder off the seat and went over to Lock World over at Geary St and they quoted me $45 to rebuild my lock. I decided against that. I called the motorcycle dealership to price out a new lock and got quoted $20 for a new lock, half of what Lock World wanted. So I remembered Davis Duong Locksmith from when I was a child and paid him a visit. Less than 10 minutes from entering his doors, my lock was unstuck and I my wallet was only several dollars lighter. Great owner, the most reasonable cutter for quality keys. He doesn't use the bendable crap blanks one gets at low-end hardware stores. I've had cheap keys bend and nearly break off in old locks. Only one problem with Davis Duong Locksmith: he's closed almost all the time since he does mobile work all over town. Get lucky and you'll get good keys. Really knows his stuff. He recut a key when it didn't work right. Try dealing with someone else about that not uncommon problem and they might suspect you're scamming them. read more

This guy is the best. After locking myself out of my apartment and finding out he was closed on Sundays, I reluctantly called a 24hr service. The guy showed up, but couldn't pick the lock, claiming it was too new of a lock and too high security. So I said no way, I know Davis Duong can do it. Called him, he answered and was awesome enough to drive right over. He picked the lock in 30 secs with the 24hr guy standing there watching in disbelief. He then proceeded to explain to the other locksmith how to do it, complete with drawings and all. He happily drove over on a Sunday, and showed up the 24hr guy in the process. Called him twice no answer. Then the third time he said someone was locked out so he had to leave. I would give no stars if it was possible. This person has no sense of politeness, refuses to acknowledge your problem by stating that he is busy or driving. Gives a senario of if he's dead then what should I do. What kind of person runs a business like this. I called three times and even agreed to his 85 dollar minimum appointment. My front door lock wasn't working well, instead of coming out and charging me, he told me to put WD-40 in the lock and if it didn't get better to call him. Voila, it's fixed. He's excellent. This guy is such a dick! Do not very give this guy any money!!! Such a POS. Called him from north beach to ask for his help after I was locked out of my apartment. He said 10-15 minutes. Ok no problem. While I was waiting i remembered that a widow near the fire escape wasn't locked. I managed to jimmy off the screen and I was in! Since my phone was locked in the apartment, used a neighbors to call him the first time, I picked up the phone to call and let him know I was able to get in myself. He proceeded to tell me I was wasting his f-ing time among other expletives that I won't write here since I actually have a sense of class. What?! Seriously? Proceeded to apologize for not needing his services and tell him that if this ever happened again that he would have been my first call, but after the way he speaks to customers I would highly highly highly suggest never using this man or his business for any locksmith needs. Actually ended up hanging up on him as he continued to verbally attack me. He seems completely mentally unhinged! If I could leave less then one star I would. Stay away everyone read more
