All the fat picked off the brisket and the not so good sausage.
Ivan J.

The luck we've had in Seguin when it comes to food is amazing. This place has its faults , but the four was because overall it was good! We had the famous brisket on brisket burger, and the trio plate. First the burger...wow! One of the best I've had in a while! Amazing flavor! It was perfect...EXCEPT...the actual brisket. It's a theme here that brisket honestly seems like they make zero attempts to trim it. It's not dry, and it is flavorful. We had a COMICAL side of macaroni. It was the absolutely smallest side I think I've ever had and I grew up with churches chicken calling a McDonald's small fries a family order. For three plus dollars too! To the plate, the brisket same thing...half fat and half meat. Still delicious, but had to pick off a lot of the fat which seems like sacrilege. The turkey was great! The fries were adequate. The onion rings are pretty good! The sausage on the other hand...just no. Had the texture of cornmeal. Didn't finish it. It looked pretty too what a-shame! The bbq sauce was AMAZING! Especially the spicier one! The menu has some crazy items! We want to come back with the whole crew to try all the items. Like lamb barbacoa and lamb ribs! We also had tres leches and banana pudding to go. The tres leches was just ok, and skip the banana pudding...trust me.

Fried catfish plate with cream corn and mac&cheese

This was a great find! I got the fried catfish plate and which was hot and delicious. The mac&cheese is the best I have had since moving to the area 6 years ago, and the cream corn was delicious. I love the vibe of the place. It has an old backyard BBQ feel with a family atmosphere. The staff was friendly, and the service was fast. I will add this place as a favorite.

Ordered trio plate of chicken, turkey breast and pork ribs with a side of creamed corn and mac & cheese. And a catfish plate with cole slaw and green beans.

My assorted meats order. So so good.

I stopped in and got a variety of meats to go. I believe I may have met and spoken to the owner himself. Great guy! GREAT food. They've been around as long as me! If you're ever in Seguin, please stop in. They have burgers, catfish, shrimp, and a variety of family recipe sides - possibly the best potato salad I've ever had! Plus yummy looking desserts.

Mom saw Davila's on TV and wanted try it. She loved it but me and hubby felt it was ok compared to other bbq places in the San Marcos & surrounding areas. We had the ribs, Turkey leg, and brisket Grill cheese sandwich.

Must try! Papa Davila - smoked potato, with brisket, cheese and sour cream! It's enough for 2 meals! As we were eating, a lady says this peach cobbler is amazing! Y'all check out Davilas BBQ!

1 meat plate - (smoked Turkey, macaroni and cheese, and fries)

YUM!! I like everything I have tried here so far! My lunch today was the 1 meat plate with 2 sides. It is a great value, very big portion that I split up to enjoy for my 2nd lunch later in the day The turkey is smoked perfectly and very juicy and flavorful. I think their macaroni and cheese might be my favorite anywhere. I could eat a whole plate of just that!! The food is served quickly and I love how friendly everyone is. The owner makes it a point to check in on his customers and greet everyone as you come in! I like that they have a drive thru too for when I'm in a rush. 10/10!

Nice folks. The smoked chicken was good. The brisket on a cold bun killed my experience. This place has potential but the dry brisket with large chunks of fat needs attention.

I'm surprised I've never heard of them because this is some of the best barbecue I've ever had. Some of the best customer service too! I'm so glad I stopped in. This will be my go to every single time when I'm in Seguin, Texas. Food: everything was phenomenal! The brisket was made to perfection absolutely some of the best brisket I've ever had. The jalapeño sausage, I've never had a jalapeño sausage that good! The cheese was bursting out of the seam! The tater salad oh my God! Talk about a blast from the past if you're from Houston Texas, and remember the old Heights camp house BBQ, you will remember they had Camp house potatoes. They tasted exactly the same wow I was so happy to try that because I never thought I'd have a dish like that again in my life. The brisket rice was OK. I probably would get something else. The banana pudding was phenomenal. This is some of the best barbecue I've ever had. Easy five star review! The customer service was great. The line moved quickly and everyone was extremely nice. I will go out of my way to come here and get barbecue every single time when I'm at Seguin, Texas. This should be on Texas monthly, this should be on everyone's radar if you love barbecue! Once again, thank y'all for the amazing customer service and amazing food!

Went on a whim with my friends who had already dined here a couple of times. The last time they…read morewaited in line for 1.5 hours after arriving 11:30am. We arrived 10:58am and waited for 2 hours. I've read of long waits but being with friends, chatting and anticipating wasn't that bad esp. watching the line move along and having awnings along the buildings provided much needed shade. Some window fronts had small ledges that one could sit if you wanted so we did in a couple of places. I brought a personal neck fan and a thermos with iced Coconut water so I was hydrated. If it was later in the summer, I'm not so sure how I'd fare? It's best to come early because some items were selling out by the time we ordered. The first was the Coleslaw and "The Blake" Brisket Taco that included the Coleslaw and BBQ Sauce. By the time I ordered the 1 lb of Beef Cheeks Pastrami to go, I was told that was the last of it. Lucky me! My friend wanted to order some but fini! I shared some with her and my other friend so they could taste it. It was so fork-tender, slightly smoky and cutting into it the color was a deep burgundy-red! We were fascinated by it. I love Pastrami and I know Beef Cheeks are tender when done right so I was intrigued on their take on it. I would order this again! I also ordered 1 lb of the Prime Brisket to go. It was a little drier, less smoky than the Beef Cheeks and I had to use BBQ Sauce for some moisture. The El Tejano Brisket Taco sounded well balanced with the Red Salsa, Avocado Crema, Pickled Onions and Queso Fresco. The Pickled Onions & sauces complimented the smoky, tender Brisket. I actually thought the Brisket in my Taco was more tender than the Prime Brisket I got to go. It was a generous 4-slice portion esp. for $8. I think the Flour Tortilla could be somehow toasted. I bet a Sonoran style Flour Tortilla would be great as it has those toasted brown spots and is flavorful! I have some at home so I'm going to use that tomorrow. The only side that was appealing to me was the Potato Salad. I wasn't sure how it would be prepared as some places drown the Potatoes in a mayonnaise overload. They prepared it with a light dressing with chopped Red Peppers, Pickles and I think some onions & something that made them yellowish so the Potatoes shined. I wanted to try the meats as is without BBQ Sauce so I could enjoy it for its purity. I was given 4 White Bread slices, a small plastic container with onions and sliced pickles, 2 Horseradish sauces & 3 BBQ sauces. I'll try the Horseradish another day. When you order and initially pay, they just take your order and you move down to the next station for sides and prepping your food. I didn't know about the "Garnishes Available" with Pickles, Okra, Onions, Jalapeños and Bread til I read the sign afterward. My friends both ordered the "Chinese Sticky Rib Plate" that came with a "Cucumber Smash Salad". The Ribs were a bit salty and mentioned that they weren't this salty the last time they came. They had me try it and after a few chews, I could see how the smokiness and salt could be a bit much after a while. The Cucumbers were cut in chunks in what reminded me of a Korean Chili Sauce type of preparation. I just showed my receipt for the clerk to put the styrofoam box full of goodies together. My friend got up later and asked for some Okra. The Okra had a masculine smell to it so I only ate one piece. Near the utensil station is an area where you could buy t-shirts and I think some frozen or refrigerated items/meat? I saw a SF 49er white plaque so I asked the employee if the chef was from the Bay Area but he said he's from Texas and is just a fan. I told him I'm from the Bay Area and am a fan too! The bathrooms are wide and use drying fans vs. paper towels. I prefer paper towels esp. if you're going to wash your hands w/BBQ Sauce or grease. We walked out in the back area where the smokers were located since we could cut thru to the back parking lot in the cross street. Happy to have tried this and happy they won 2 Michelin Bib Gourmand Accolades in 2024 & 2025 and won Texas Monthly's Best BBQ Restaurant in 2025!! It's exciting to see local restaurants being recognized esp. for their BBQ. When I first visited in 2007, there were only a handful of BBQ spots that people would recommend. Now they're elevating their game and critics are noticing and on the map!! Support local!! To note: While in line, we saw people walking out with bags of food to go. Best to go earlier as possible, otherwise later in the day would be fine if can't wait in line. It would help to highlight the directions on how to order & locate them near the Menu Boards.

The brisket was mediocre at best -- slightly under seasoned and the smoke flavor tasted a little off to me. The pork ribs were lacking flavor, and the bacon ranch potatoes were pretty much flavorless and definitely needed salt. The street corn pudding was okay, but it also felt bland somehow -- not really sweet or savory, just kind of there. I also tried the beef ribs, and they were just okay. They weren't nearly as tender as I expected, especially considering the reputation this place has. The highlights for me were definitely the beef cheek pastrami and the sticky ribs. The beef cheeks were melt-in-your-mouth tender and perfectly seasoned, and the sticky ribs had great flavor. For the amount of hype, long wait times, and "best in Texas" reputation, I left pretty disappointed. I honestly don't understand why this place is considered number one in the state.

Let me tell you, it was worth it! Walk in and its immediately obvious this is a local joint that only worries about the food and not the ambiance. We decided to get two 2 meat plates so we could try all four meats (math is fun!). The plates come with two sides, so we got the classics: mac n cheese, potato salad, black eyed peas and okra gumbo. Everything was fantastic. Juicy brisket, fall off the bone ribs and chicken and the sausage was amazing! The sauce is a great compliment to the meat, it doesnt cover up the flavor like some chain restaurants need to do. We got the peach cobbler for dessert and while it was tasty, we both would have preferred it warm instead of cold. Overall this place is worth the drive out and we will be back next time we are in the area.

Their menu is average sized with apps, a senior menu, kids menu, salads, burgers/sandwiches, pastas, entrees and desserts. They also have a happy hour menu with specials ranging from $1 - $9. They even have cocktails with Power Plant themed names. I was in the mood for steak and unfortunately this town seems to be void of steaks for some reason; however, the Power Plant offers one on their menu. I chose a steak with green beans and mashed potatoes. They indicated the steak of the day was a ribeye, but I've never seen a ribeye shaped like this before, it was long and skinny like a skirt steak, or a strip. Ribeye - tender for the most part and tasty. Almost tasted like a flat iron steak, but somehow this was actually a ribeye despite its unusual shape. Long piece of gristle across one entire side and fat cap at the end. This 12oz steak was more like 9 oz after removing all of that. Green beans - basic canned beans with several bacon chunks Mashed potatoes- chunky with brown gravy. The bread that comes with this is basically 2 ends of a griddled hot dog bun. Service was ok as the waitress came around a couple of times to check on me. She forgot to ask me how I wanted the steak cooked, and also came back to tell me she originally gave me the wrong price for it. It ended up being around $25, as opposed to $22 as she originally indicated. I also added a homemade brownie with ice cream to go. This was a pretty average brownie dessert.
