I received a box of sausage, ribs and brisket from Davila's BBQ as a gift. The box arrived in terrible condition and the meats were not vacuum sealed as stated on their website. The sausages were placed in a plastic bag. I was also missing the 15 oz of spice rub. There was no packing slip or heating instructions. I had to look it up on the website. The meat was defrosted. They had a booth at the Stock Show and Rodeo at the Frost Bank Center. We got there just in time before the line blew up. We got the smashburger at the recommendation of our friends. They have a single, double, or triple version. I got the double and added chili on mine which was an additional $1.50. The patties were super juicy and tender. It will warm you up inside especially since we were outdoors on the coldest, dreariest day of the year in San Antonio. Eat it quick because the grease will soak through the buns! I didn't think the chili added an additional dimension to it so didn't think that was worth it. But overall, would recommend! read more

The luck we've had in Seguin when it comes to food is amazing. This place has its faults , but the four was because overall it was good! We had the famous brisket on brisket burger, and the trio plate. First the burger...wow! One of the best I've had in a while! Amazing flavor! It was perfect...EXCEPT...the actual brisket. It's a theme here that brisket honestly seems like they make zero attempts to trim it. It's not dry, and it is flavorful. We had a COMICAL side of macaroni. It was the absolutely smallest side I think I've ever had and I grew up with churches chicken calling a McDonald's small fries a family order. For three plus dollars too! To the plate, the brisket same thing...half fat and half meat. Still delicious, but had to pick off a lot of the fat which seems like sacrilege. The turkey was great! The fries were adequate. The onion rings are pretty good! The sausage on the other hand...just no. Had the texture of cornmeal. Didn't finish it. It looked pretty too what a-shame! The bbq sauce was AMAZING! This was a great find! I got the fried catfish plate and which was hot and delicious. The mac&cheese is the best I have had since moving to the area 6 years ago, and the cream corn was delicious. I went to the new Davila's Bar B Que location in Universal City today, I was a bit disappointed with the presentation of my meal. I ordered a sliced brisket sandwich on a bun to go. The brisket was good, the outside of the wrapper was covered in bar b que sauce. (very messy) The bun was not fresh, hard around the edges and it was falling apart. I ordered potato salad also, but I did not get any utensils or napkins in the bag. No lids for the tea I ordered. I asked them for a lid and I was offered foil paper. (seriously?) These folk have been in business forever, and pitmaster Adrian has been featured on TV cooking programs. One thing they have regularly that is not available at all BBQ places is lamb; worth a try. I had heard good things and I'm a brisket lover so it was perfect to see them at the rodeo After spending $26 for 3 brisket tacos I knew rodeo prices and food truck prices raise up but that still feels very expensive. While waiting, two of the owners friends showed up and he immediately had the cook make them brisket tacos. I wait and waited. Then another set of friends came up and my tacos came out. The owner tossed the ticket aside and tried to give his friend my tacos. Thank god he didn't want them. Got a Dino rib at their food truck at the Rodeo. It was extremely expensive. They weren't friendly; didn't have any side dishes; didn't provide any utensils (which was need to cut through the rib); We were handed a rib that wasn't Dino size. We waited at least 20 minutes and the rib was cold, the fat on it was hard, white, cold and so gross and greasy. The rib came out of the smoker, which was, in hind site a prop since the meat came out refrigerator temperature. The guy tried to heat it on the grill, but that didn't do anything. They have no excuse being that they been in business a long time and I'm assuming also had a food truck a long time. And restaurant owners wonder why their business closes down. I had the chance to try the brisket grilled cheese and a music festival. It was so good! They had their food truck there and a limited selection from their menu. It was well worth it and a delightful experience. All of the workers were amazingly nice and helpful! The brisket in the grilled cheese was very tasty! I rarely believe reviews, but this food was horrible. Someone told me about it and I thought I'm going to have to try it. What a mistake! I got the catfish and shrimp plate with green beans and cream corn. I got three little teeny pieces of fish. I'm not sure what kind of fish it was. The fillets were so thin all I tasted was the batter on them. The shrimp was not much better. The green beans were horrible. They tasted like somebody grabbed them out of a freezer. Boiled them a few minutes to thaw them out and put them on my plate. The cream corn was very odd tasting, but out of the meal it was the best tasting of anything. So sad. I want to love this place, I like its charm but maybe it's not for those who enjoy some of the one off kinds of foods they offer. I was on a kick for turkey plates back in November and this place had a decent plate but the few times I had them they weren't consistent in quality, flavor, or portion. Especially when I brought my family in for them and some of us got larger portions of turkey than others. I revisited the other day because I seen their menu listed turkey legs which I was so super excited for... that's as far as it went though, my husband and I both ordered turkey legs (he talked himself out of the lamb ribs for one) they were so very dry, no juices dripping, skin tough and almost crunchy, with no flavor to be had completely lacking a good smokiness. The bbq sauce also leaves so much to be desired. I was super bummed. My daughter had ordered the loaded potato and they rang up a stuffed potato instead, not a huge deal because she will eat either, but there were huge chunks of tough fatty brisket in her potato and she wasn't having it. My husband and I both ordered dessert with our food, the pecan pie had good flavor but hardly 3 slivers of pecan on the whole tiny slice (for almost $6 the slice was abysmal). I'm torn on whether we will try this place again when Schultz's and Burnt bean are within the nearby vicinity and have comparable prices but exceptional quality. My brother has a life threatening dairy allergy. We ordered the sausage and were told by manager that it did not have dairy. The sausage did have dairy. We've had to stab my brother with the EpiPen and he is still having trouble breathing. We might take him to hospital here shortly. Called the place and told them and didn't even get an apology. YUM!! I like everything I have tried here so far! My lunch today was the 1 meat plate with 2 sides. It is a great value, very big portion that I split up to enjoy for my 2nd lunch later in the day The turkey is smoked perfectly and very juicy and flavorful. I think their macaroni and cheese might be my favorite anywhere. I could eat a whole plate of just that!! The food is served quickly and I love how friendly everyone is. Stopped in to pick-up some food to take back home. Wasn't too busy and folks were nice. Had the turkey breast, beef brisket, frito, potato salad, and hush puppies. Loved the people and how kind everyone was. Didn't have to wait too long, but overall we weren't impressed with the flavors. Although the meat wasn't dry it also seemed to lack overall flavor. I was really looking for some peppery, smokey, juicy bbq and just didnt quite hit the mark. It definitely hit the BBQ craving, but I've had better. Great price for quantity of food. Finally finally ate at here, I've seen it on TV etc. I'm gonna give my honest opinion: I used to have a barbecue and taco truck so I think I know what barbecue is about, my wife and I had the two meat plates with sides the sides as in potato salad coleslaw were good, the beans were like whole beans that were cooked with no flavor whatsoever the brisket had no smoke flavor and was way under done the ribs were good the sausage had no flavor at all it's supposed to be jalapeño sausage I was truly disappointed the most disappointed I've been at a barbecue place in Texas. read more

Unfortunately that wasn't the case during our recent visit. Had to wait awhile for the burger special even though the place wasn't overly busy.
