I walked over for a pedicure while my car was being worked on at the nearby Midas. It was mid-day on a weekday so not very busy. As a walk in they were able to take me right away. I found the pedicure to be very relaxing and love the color. My nail tech was very friendly and helpful. The place was clean and well decorated. David's Nail Spa was open late on a Friday evening when my nails desperately needed some lovin. I don't have the "before" pic but trust me they were bad. What I loved about David's, other than the way my nails turned out, was the "everyone knows everyone" attitude there. The woman who did my nails was chatting with another client and said to her "your mom was in last week" and they both laughed. When she was doing my nails, she said "this is your first time here!" And she was correct. My nails were originally almond shaped and paper thin. I asked her to keep the almond shape and she advised me that doing so would be bad for my nails. She suggested I cut the almond tip off and let them grow and then next time I could get the almond since my nails would be healthier. I appreciated the advice from a professional and followed her suggestion. I had also picked out a sparkly pale pink color for my nails and she suggested I go with a solid color, again to encourage stronger, healthier nails. She saw my disappointment and I said I wanted something "fun" having been in a bit of a funk lately. She came back with a color called neon pink. It was wonderful. The ANC mani and a regular pedi came to 65 dollars which is admittedly a little on the pricey side. But my nails look great and I was so happy with the advice of the nail technician that it kind of made up for it. She could have done exactly what I wanted with my nails only for them to break in a week, but she didn't. I'll definitely be back. read more

I was drawn to this salon by all the positive reviews that I saw on Yelp, but I got the worst manicure that I ever had in my life. I got the Gel manicure was Wednesday, May 30th, and today it is Monday, June 4th, and it has already lifted off my nails at the edges. The person who did my nails was in a great hurry although the salon was not busy, and when she used an instrument to push my cuticles down, she hurt me. I decided to try David's instead of my normal place, based on the yelp reviews. The pedicure was way too quick and the girl had a sour look on her face the entire time. No moisturizer applied or massage, which was very disappointing! I still had high hopes for the ANC nails, but was again disappointed. The girl who did my nail did not speak English at all, didn't ask what I wanted. I tried to explain, but she didn't understand. Anyway, she applied 3 coats very sloppily, and then used 10x the activator needed, so I ended up with nail fused to skin. At the end, she tried to correct the sloppy work by using the drummel and cuticle cutter on my skin but I pulled my hands away and said no. I now have ANC all over my cuticles and skin. First time I ever left without leaving a tip. Sun Nails in Latham is so much better. This posted as location San Francisco, CA, but I'm in Troy, NY!!! read more

My daughter and I went for mani pedicures. She had a normal mani - pedi. We were there on Wednesday. By the evening more were chipping. Today all but two are chipped. After all of the rave reviews I expected so much more. My other experiences the cuticles were always treated with cuticle remover or conditioner. Here they didn't even push the cuticles back. But they did cut off the parts that were protruding. My gels are great. But I felt like we were getting the rush jobs. Disappointed after the hype in other reviews. read more

I went to this nail salon once thinking it was a nice quaint nail salon, which ultimately ended up being the complete opposite. As soon as I sat down everyone was very friendly. Although the women nail tech was a little overly friendly her compliments felt forced. She kept saying "you're so pretty", which became very redundant, again seemed forced and like she trying too hard if you ask me. Fast forward, I showed the nail tech a picture of a marble mail design and the other nail tech intervened and reassured me they can do any design here. Ten minutes later he came back asked to see the picture again and said "We can't do that I don't have the all the material." I then showed the nail tech a simple plaid design (Picture below). The other nail tech agreed and said they would be able to do this one instead. I picked my top coat color and assumed he would use the beige/pinkish color (like the photo) as a top coat for the plaid designs on the two nails that I wanted. Instead he paints all of nails with the red color and tried to paint the plaid lines with red color as well. Obviously the plaid lines aren't going to show up if you use the same color as the top coat for lines as well. He clearly was unable to resemble the photo I had showed him, so he opted to do his own design instead. A little frustrated I agreed and allowed him to do his design instead which was the complete opposite of what I wanted (picture below). AFTER ONLY A WEEK TWO OF MY NAILS POPPED OFF COMPLETELY. Anyone that gets acrylics knows they last 2-4 weeks. Very dissatisfied, I went in to see if they could fix my two nails. They then said they were too busy. I returned the next day and they REFUSED MY SERVICE YET AGAIN for whatever reason. They only had two customers when I went in for the second time, one walking out the salon right after me. The female nail tech said she's gonna get other customers and there gonna be too busy soon so she wouldn't be able to fix my TWO nails ". I was appalled and yet not surprised. You walk in here and there busy is 3-5 customers and I can see why. I DON'T Recommend anyone going here for acrylics! Go to Nail Top instead! read more

Went back 6 weeks later and want to be more specific about the callous service offered with a pedicure, hence this update. So many nail salons do not have well-maintained tools. David's does - he has that electric whirligig that smooths the nails, and very sharp callous removing tools. When you buy the $5 pedicure add-on, you receive three applications, coarse, medium, and fine. It's kind of disgusting to see all the dead dry skin removed by these tools! But your feet emerge so soft and lovely. This go around, I also had a manicure, which is equally lovely. Highly recommend this salon! read more

I have been here more than once because my sister lives on area and likes it. BUT, I only get a regular Mani pedi. Either the polish begins to chip or peel off within days OR I can't remove it all with my regular polish remover....thus leaving my nails looking more than disgusting. I think they do so many of the acrylic or whatever that super strong nail killing stuff is, that they use some of same on "regular" nails. I will never go back. Don't go on a weekend when they're busy. You'll be very rushed and receive a very poor manicure. My ANC was smudged and my technician made me bleed and then smudged the blood into the powder before sealing it so it came out stained. Nails just look sloppy now. This place is brand new, it's super clean and they do a good job. They are friendly and polite. They offer a ton of services. The only negative thing I can say is that they open at 11 on sundays(which is fine) but half their staff doesn't come in until after that. My friend and I went in to get pedicures right at 11(First ones there)and I think we sat with our feet soaking for more than 15 minutes before they started her feet and another 10 before they started mine. I've gone to this place twice, both times for pedicures. The first time was good, except for having a long wait even with an appointment. The owner kept apologizing, gave me a discount and extra massage time. Unfortunately, the second time was not good at all. The man who did my pedicure should not be doing them! It took over an hour and it was not a job well done. He spent just as much time trying to fix his mistakes as he did painting my nails... and he made me bleed! I've been here 4 times now for ANC manicure and I will keep returning. This is the first nail salon Ive been to where my manicure doesn't chip or entirely break off from my nail in between appointments. I could easily go more than 3 weeks with one of their manicures but I only go sooner because of how fast my nails grow out. I get so many compliments from my coworkers how great my nails look and how thin my ANC manicure is. A lot of places I have been to make ANC look like a foreign object is on your nail because of how thick it is. I really appreciate the attention to detail here, if you speak up and nicely ask for what you want or if something needs to be corrected it will be fixed!
