Lord why didn't I avoid this place? I was here one time eight months ago and the person that did me did a magnificent job unfortunately, this time around it was possibly the worst!! and the crazy part was that the owner was sitting next to the guy that was doing my nails and observing his work and said nothings!! I left with wonky shaped nails! I just wanted to get the hell out of there.! now I'm gonna have to look for another place to fix my wonky shaped nails never again and my stepping foot into this establishment. read more

Vivi nails on Rt. 9 in Latham is an awesome experience for some self care and pampering at an affordable price. The staff is very friendly, welcoming and attentive to your needs. The inside of the nail spa is bright and clean. One wall is lined massage chairs with foot baths, the other side is lined with nail stations. They offer a variety of services at affordable prices. You can call ahead to make an appointment or reserve some chairs together if you have a group. They are good for birthdays, mother's day, valentine's day, anniversaries, getting ready for a bug event like a wedding or just in need of some self care. They are great for both men and women alike. I find it nice treat myself to a pedicure twice a year. They massage my calves, feet, exfoliate my skin, scrub off calloused skin, and make my look and feet feel great. This was my fifth visit to Vivi Nails and I should have reviewed them sooner! read more

I came in for a basic manicure expecting a relaxing, professional experience -- and instead left with scratched, damaged nails and a lot of frustration. I had regular nail polish on (not gel or acrylic), but instead of using polish remover, the technician used an electric nail file to sand it off -- which unnecessarily roughed up and scratched the surface of my natural nails. She didn't soak my fingers or prep my cuticles properly. She barely touched them at all, and what little she did was done with the e-file, which felt rough and careless. The end result looked messy, my nails still had residue on them, and the usual basic touches like a hand massage or even cleaning under the nails were skipped. I ended up stopping the service partway and only paid for the basic manicure ($15), but I still left disappointed and annoyed. My nails look worse than when I walked in, and now I need time to let them recover. I don't usually leave negative reviews, but I want others to be aware. If you value careful, respectful nail care -- especially for natural nails -- I'd recommend looking elsewhere. read more

Probably the worst nail experience I've ever had. I got ANC and the nail technician hit my skin with the nail drill 3x. The first two times it really hurt, and the last time it cut me and I was bleeding. They apologized, but were laughing about it at the same time when I did not find it funny. There is also this weird white webby residue left on my nails making me feel less of the quality. Would not recommend this place. read more

And told them I wasn't satisfied how they look super gelled up in some spots. So this lady understood what I meant and did her best to fix my issue. My pro tip is get a female technician in this salon who understands the aesthetic of acrylic nails. Mostly guys don't have that guy. Not to sound sexist or anything. My overall experience: the lady first when took me into the space to fix my tips said, that I should have gone with a lighter color. How dare you tell someone that ? I picked what I liked, who are you to tell me that. My overall experience as a person of color, is not to return at all. However on the positive note, she fixed her co worker's task. $50 for ANC amber and $15, I tipped that guy. I always tip good for human services, doesn't matter how bad your work was. read more

Worst experience to date. They ignored me as I repeatedly told them that the acetone was burning my fingers and was in pain during my gel removal. I tried to take off the plastic glove and aluminum foil with the acetone-soaked cotton inside; the woman tugged the gloves back onto my hands. I ultimately had to rip them all off as they were completely burning my fingertips. The pedicure was terrible, she was not paying attention and was giving less than half effort to give a good massage - disappointing considering I chose a specialty $60 pedicure. They then used the drill to remove the remainder of my gel - completely sanding down past the gel and I had to ask her to stop as she was burning my fingers there too with the friction. I had to ask her several times to go back in and properly do my cuticles, instead of just using the drill. I had blatantly flaky skin and hangnails that she was alleging not to see and giving me attitude when I asked her to correct it. Completely lazy and unprofessional. I ultimately decided to forego getting my gel manicure and had her apply a clear coas as I could not wait to get out of this salon. After waiting for 4 years to get my nails done again to correct damage like this I had had in the past, here I am again back at square 1 with paper thin nails covered in ridges. Save your time and money and go elsewhere. read more

Very disappointed. Tried this place. It was recommended by a few people. So I get a manicure with a man who didn't even soak my fingers to soften my cuticles , didn't push my cuticles back. He just filed my nails, trimmed a few pieces of skin and then did the gel polish. 20 minutes ! I did get a few minute massage which was nice. Then on to the pedicure. Woman sits down doesn't even say hello. My heels are dry so whenever I've gone to other places they always use that cheese grater looking thing and my feet also feel so nice and soft afterwards. She used it very quick and that was it. I had to do it myself when I got home. $93 later I'm very disappointed. read more

I've been looking for nail technician who could do acrylic powder nail extensions in upstate for a while. It's pricier but has much natural shape and last longer on me. I got my acrylic powder nail extensions done by Tracy, which is WOW! So gorgeous! If you want the acrylic powder extensions, she is your nail technician for sure ( she is off on Sundays and Mondays so be sure to call to make an appointment first as they are always very busy!) The whole set is $75. the extension is $60, gel nail polish $10, And the almond shaped nails, is +5 extra, but totally worthy and still $30 cheaper than to get it done in the New York City. I also get a pedicure done by Lin (at least that's what's on his name tag), which I thoroughly enjoyed! Can't say enough good things about these two technicians! read more

I so wanted to give this place a genuinely good review, but there was just one thing that stopped me. The place is fresh, clean, they play relaxing music, give you little water bottles, so nice. However, the language barrier was too much of a challenge. I was there for a pedi and requested my toe nails be short, after making several hand ventures after she cut one toe and before she cut the next one, I ultimately gave up. the lady next to me begged the woman to do the scrape callous on her foot, and after speaking to someone who said she spoke English, she too gave up. As a customer I need to be able to instruct the stylist to what I want, but in this case it was futile. I won't be going back. read more

Nice ladies and environment but terrible manicure... How I ended up having more hangnails less than a week later than when I came in there is crazy. They don't manually cut cuticles, they use the filing machine which saves time but frankly it's painful because it's too harsh and leaves your cuticles looking chewed up. I really love my ANC manicure from Vivi's! I paid $38 plus an $8 tip. This was my first time here and I will definitely be back. I totally forgot to ask the tech's name but she shaped my nails beautifully! I've always had super short and weak nails so this is my journey to growing them out. I got ANC color #7. It's the perfect yellow for this warm weather. I would've given 5 stars but the tech seemed to be a little rushed and preoccupied. She answered a few phone calls and didn't really talk to me much. I didn't have an appointment and they were kind enough to see me right as I got there despite the salon being pretty busy. I really don't have any complaints and I totally understand that it was busy so that's why she was preoccupied. Next time I'll be sure to make an appointment. The space is super clean. read more

First time customer, good first impression. Salon is clean, when you come in everyone is wearing masks, gloves & they ask you to use hand sanitizer. I didn't have an appointment so there was a short wait for a simple manicure (no ANC, or tips) just a classic salon mani is $14. Service was pleasant, but quiet. I don't mind that, at all. The pedicure stations were nearly filled with customers, I like that they use disposable tub liners.. they also had what looked like leg skin treatments, where they wrap the calf with product & cover it with plastic wrap? I didn't review the list of services but with the number of people there, it seems like a popular option. My manicure was good, I asked for a "very square" shape and the results were mostly square, a little rounder than I prefer but everything else was very good. I'd recommend & I'll be back. read more

Went in for a scheduled appointment for a pedicure. I was 15 minutes early to allow time to pick my color. I watched them take walk-ins while I waited and waited. By the time I was called back, it was 30 minutes AFTER my appointment time, and after one of the walk ins left after her UNSCHEDULED pedicure! Now for the horrible experience: I sat in the chair... and the food spa was empty (no water). After 10 minutes a woman came over and started the water. I finally put my feet in. Every pedicure always has the Dead Sea salt added to the water. It softens the skin and adds to the experience. Otherwise, why soak your feet in luke warm tap water? She begins to clip my nails and trim the cuticles. Keep in mind they wear rubber gloves. Her wet gloved hand slips and she literally stabs me with the cuticle trimmer. I'm now bleeding profusely! She says NOTHING! Grabs a piece of cotton and wrapped my toe and continues on. Now as women we all know that we get pedicures because we like nice smooth feet after they use the foot file. We she grabbed the polish, I asked about it. She said that's only done as part of the callous treatment pedicure. Ummm no. I'm had many pedicures there, and always had that done. She said she would do it, but it's an extra charge. In the meantime, the cotton around my toe is completely red with blood. She unwrapped it, splashes water on my toe, dried it and begins painting my nails, while dabbing blood every few minutes. In the end $40 for a very sub par manicure. The older woman next to me got the exact same pedicure, and hers was $28. I know this because when sitting at the drying station she and I were talking. She wanted to say something to the person who did her pedicure, but I asked her not to. read more

I was impressed with them and despite being fairly new, and ironing out a few things, they are very clean and very sweet. They did a good job on my acrylic set and I went back for a fill closer to 3 weeks and they did an even better job. To get almost 3 weeks out of acrylics is insane! The 30% makes it all even better. I would make an appointment as they are trying not to have walk-in's most places due to COVID-19. They are prompt and I did not wait too long for either appointment. My usual place, Venetian Nails, was booked up so I decided to try a new place with my grandmother and mom. I had Peter and he seemed to do a good job nothing spectacular. He didn't understand what I was asking for-a white base coat so my lighter shade doesn't look milky. He called over five other people to help him. We figured it out in the end. My MiMi got French tip on her toes and they look alright. The original girl doing her toes couldn't do it but the other girl sat there to learn. My moms nails are all different roundness tips. They disinfect well but the whole place smelled like acetone. What totally saved this was that it was dirt cheap! My nails were $25 (not including tip or tips) Moms were $28 (no tips or tip) and my MiMis toes were $35 and they gave her a birthday gift since it was her birthday. I had a Pedicure back a few months ago. Ever since, I have been dealing with very painful ingrown toenails. I had to go to a Podiatrist and they had to cut away about 1/4 of my toenail where it was infected. At the time of the Pedicure, I told the lady that she was hurting me and cutting way to low. I like to walk about 2 miles a day and water aerobics, but my toes are still very sore. I went back to inform them of this situation and all they did was smile and said they were sorry. I WOULD NOT recommend getting a pedicure there! read more

Worst nail salon ever! The salon might be pretty but the pedicure was the worst I've ever had. I just wanted my toenails clipped and a foot soak. The Employee only cut the front of my nails and not the sides so I left there with sharp, jagged nails. I tried to communicate with her but she didn't understand anything I was saying. I'm easy going and patient so I usually let things slide but this service was unacceptable. I did attempt to speak to the manager but they were uninterested. They charged me $33 for a toenail clipping. I didn't get polish or any special services. If you want a quality service I would suggest looking elsewhere. I understood a bit of what they were talking about, and the entire time they were doing customers nails, they were negatively speaking about the customers. Not good business practices. Great service, I'm never disappointed at vivi's. The staff are always a pleasure to be around and the quality of their work is worth every penny. I only get to come here every now and then but I always look forward to it. This time I went in for a pedicure and an acrylic full set and one of the employees actually ended up telling me to do anc instead and helped me pick out a color I would like. The pedicure was so relaxing and the lady gave me a sample packet of the lotion she used, and really took her time with the service. The manicure came out perfect, I'm usually pretty picky but the lady did everything perfectly and I left feeling pampered and happy. If I could, I would recommend this place to everyone. read more
