Bobby and his team at David's did the catering at my wedding and were top notch! The food was amazing. They were constantly checking on us and made sure everyone was happy. Through out our lengthy wedding pictures, Riley kept checking to make sure we had water and drinks. This team was amazing from start to finish. The decor was absolutely what I had visioned!! I can't thank Bobby and his team enough for helping to make my day even more special!!

Grits Breakfast Davids Scrambler Breakfast
Robert H.

I visited this location on a Saturday morning after I had worked an a long shift all night. I asked the staff what was the best meal for the items I like for breakfast. She had zero knowledge of the menu at all! Complete waste of a question when I asked her about the menu. I got the cheese grits side, bacon and what was supposed to be scrambled eggs with cheese along with two pancakes. My meal came out to $20.97. The food was so bad I literally didn't eat it. I showed the server who asked to remake the meal. I told her it should've never been served. The grits weren't done so the hard pieces were like spitting sunflower seeds out for about 15 minutes. The eggs were supposed to be scrambled an I got what looks like a egg omelet with cheese in the middle. The bacon was hard as hell. I was happy when I seen the pancakes but as I prepared them I could see the pancake at the bottom was burnt an the one on top was used to cover it. So it tasted like eating burnt syrup. Since when I'm store the server never offered her manger I assumed their wasn't a manger on duty. I contacted the David's bbq which wasn't on 23rd ave and spoke to their manger. Who offered to remake the meal at this time it was 9am I was home and obviously not coming out. I wrote this review because not only was the food terrible but the complete disregard by the host and other staff who I showed that food had no common concern about the food issues. Consistency creates customers my experience wasn't what I've been told about this place by friends!

Lunch BBQ pork plate
Courtney E.

Dave's is just around the corner from our house and we had a coupon, so we went for lunch. The coupon was buy one BBQ pork plate and two drinks, get a BBQ pulled pork plate for free. We spent about $20, but without the coupon it would have been about $28. I believe there were up charges for some of the sides we got on the dinner plate. The food here is always exactly what you expect from a local BBQ place: it's good, it's fast, and it leaves you full. My lunch plate was so much that I couldn't finish it. We will go to this place when we're in the mood for BBQ and don't want to go to a place like Mojo downtown. It's a good lunch spot.

Rib plate

Came on a Wednesday and got the 10$ rib plate with potato salad, corn bread, fried okra, and a warm fresh cookie. My boyfriend ordered the brisket sandwich and wanted fries but they didn't have them at the moment. They instead let him have the Mac n cheese with no up charge and an extra cookie for free. This made our experience feel special and shows how much they care about their customers enjoying their meals. Food was also very amazing paired with their in house BBQ sauce. Tea was great as well. Can't wait to come back for their famous pulled pork sandwich

I have been coming here for years. Every local knows about David's bbq. It's still my favorite breakfast spot in town and they definitely do have the best tea. And their bbq is fantastic obviously, Brian hood the owner takes a lot of pride in his food and you can taste it. They do an awesome smoked turkey for thanksgiving and sometimes Brian does his special smoked meatloaf. And they have the best catering in town for prices, quality of food and quantity. They have done a couple of events that I've been at and there has been plenty of food for everyone. Bottom line is if you haven't been then you need to go.

I didn't have my phone on me and believe it's best as the food was disgusting and greasy and service was just as bad. Your warned dont go.

I posted a review and it was THE TRUTH! But Yelp or David's had it removed. I did not lie the service and food were both horrible and so full of grease it was inedible. The cooks and waitress BOTH had to see it as the cook fixes it and the waitress brings it. This is a fact and truth but I'm positive Yelp will delt thos as well as the truth seems unreasonable!

No fancy pants are needed here. Just come as you are and bring an appetite! This is pretty darn good Q for the amount and type of food get here. Factor in the price point and it's a real winner. The Working Man's Combo seems to be the best bang for your buck as it includes a sammie with or without slaw, a regular side and a small beverage for only $6.99. I enjoyed the chopped pork which was moist but only a small ring. I wasn't real happy that they put a bit of sauce on it but I imagine you can ask that they hold it. The BBQ beans were killer. They were sweet and smoky with pork and onions in it. Best part is it was not watery but rather thick and plentiful. I had the sweet sauce on the side was incredible----dark and thick and the molasses were discernible. So happy I found a new Q joint in the area.

Can't tell from the photo, but all those "burnt ends" are slimey fat tissue.

I had the daily special, which i knew what i was getting based on what was at the register, however they made me the surprise (Vegas) by accident... and then made the correct sandwich without a hesitation. My friend and I met after we parked our bikes. She was sitting outside, and as I was locking my bike, less than a block away, she texted me. I just walked to her without responding, and with a smile and a hug, we walked in to look at the menu. The sandwiches have some very creative names that go along with their creative construction. I got a #10, which was a fusion of French dip and Philly cheese!! I wanna buy the person a beer, whoever thought of that one! Even though it was busy, we didn't wait long to order. Every sandwich comes in a paper bag, so you can take it out or stay and munch. We got a combo with chips and a drink, because how else do you eat a big sandwich like this?! There are board games to play, decor that is not typical and a big display of Guy Fieri, from the Food Network, that lets you know this place is on America's culinary map. After the sandwiches were done, I brought them out to my friend Kimberly, who was saving our table. We both were hungry, so out of the wrap and in with the teeth. Mine was full of flavor and the fact that all the sandwiches are heat-pressed, made the texture very satisfying. The au jus was thick and delicious and made me think someone took great time and effort to make it. It is a casual restaurant, great for a date or a group of friends, or a solo quick lunch, that can also be a dinner as well. The food is somewhat pricey, but it delivers as a good meal with a creative touch. They could have emptied the garbage can more quickly, as it was more than overflowing, when I went to throw the garbage away. Memorable food, and makes me want to come back to try at least two other sandwiches that I read about.

As it was summer break, a lot of the other businesses in the building were closed (Vietnamese and Italian restaurant as well as a boba place). The place looks like it was being run by a hardworking couple. We checked out the menu and my wife ordered the Gyro Platter and I ordered the Souvlaki Platter. We also ordered a couple of fountain drinks. The gyro meat was well seasoned and tender. The Greek salad was quite good. The chicken souvlaki, however, seemed to lack flavor and a bit dry. Portions were quite generous and the value was there. We actually packed our leftovers for some quesadillas later. If we do go back, I would order the gyro instead of the chicken souvlaki. NOTE: They don't validate parking which was $3 for an hour

I hate to leave bad reviews, but I think want to be honest. I came to The Spot recently for lunch…read moreand was not happy with my experience. Located in midtown, this appears to a fast casual place that caters towards college students. They serve "Greek" street food, salads, quesadillas, burgers, and more. The food is relatively inexpensive. Service is fine, actually the people working there are friendly. Food is made to order and comes out quickly. There is some seating available inside (it's limited) but there are plenty of tables in the hall. I ordered the Street Chicken Souvlaki which included grilled chicken with tomato, onion, fries inside a pita, topped with ketchup and mustard. This was a very large portion. The pita was good, but pretty much fell apart the second I picked it up. While I liked the chicken, it was over seasoned and I didn't care for the "sauced" quality of it. I'm not sure if they marinated it or tossed it in some sauce, but it was too much. The fries were decent, but not super crispy. I felt that they were not necessarily and a little over-the-top. The tomato was fresh and but the red onion slices were very thick. The mustard and ketchup didn't work with the seasonings on the chicken. The dish was just all over the place and I couldn't even finish half of it before I started feeling sick. I ordered a side of onion rings as well. This was a large order and the size was great. But these onion rings were over-battered and were fresh, but not crispy at all. I bit into one and ended up pulling out the whole onion rings. Not good. Overall, I was very disappointed with my experience. The food was so heavy and overly salted I couldn't even eat half of it. I ended up giving it to a homeless person on the way out. The food left my stomach in shambles the rest of the day. Service is fine. But the food is not desirable. It is safe to say I will not be returning, which is unfortunate.

So yeah, expectations were not exactly low. I pulled up and kept it simple. Cheeseburger, fries, large iced tea. No need to get cute when you're dealing with a place that's been doing one thing longer than most people have had careers. Let's start with the burger, because wow. This thing absolutely delivers. Cooked to order, juicy, perfectly seasoned, and hits that sweet spot where you take a bite and immediately understand why people won't shut up about it. Five out of five, no notes, no complaints. This is the kind of burger that makes you question every overpriced, overbuilt "gourmet" burger you've ever had. This is how it's supposed to be done. And then... the fries showed up. Hot? Yes. Fresh? Seemed like it. But somehow they pulled off the impressive trick of being both hot and soggy at the same time. It's like they skipped the part where fries are supposed to have texture. Total letdown, especially sitting next to a burger that's basically winning awards in my head. The iced tea did its job. No drama there. So here's where I land. The burger alone is worth the trip. It lives up to the legend, no exaggeration. But those fries dragged the whole experience down just enough to knock it to four stars. Mac's is this close to perfection. Fix the fries, and we're not even having a conversation. Right now, it's a legendary burger with a side of "what happened here?"

This time I got a kraut dog (I didn't share). I wanted all of that warm tangy deliciousness to myself! I also tried their smash burger. Yes, yes, everyone has their signature burger...but folks...I'm going to say something here that speaks to only the burger aficionados out there...y'all know who you are. My people. The person that goes to a fancy restaurant and while everyone else is ordering the shrimp or ribs or a steak and you're ordering a burger. You know who you are and I'm one of you. This burger literally BLEW my mind. I've tried other smash burgers, but this one was actually executed PERFECTLY. What is the difference? A true "smash" burger is done just that way on the grill so that every crack, every crevice on that grill gets crispy and delicious. And the bread they use here? Soft and pillowy with just the right amount of give and chew. They literally toast the inside of EVERY bun! And not that little tiny throw onto the grill for a second or two...that nice hard grill that makes the butter hard crisp the bread so you get that crunch inside with the nice pillow outside. Shred the lettuce so it's on every bite and not falling out before you take those bites. Perfection. Added some Big Mill's sauce and wow. Just plain yellow American cheese is fine with me. I'm no cheese snob. Next time? I'm definitely enjoying a double. Just wanted to try the entire kraut dog for myself. Worth it. That grill crisped bun on the dog was soooo good. I want it on a double smashburger next time! The staff comes and checks with you and brings you your food when ready. Asks if everything was okay and if you need any sauces or utensils. That is so surprising every time to me. Well worth every single penny I've spent here. The attention to exact details and the comfort and hominess this place exudes along with the selection of awesome 60s and early 70s music (which is exactly from my era) they play is the reason we'll keep coming back over and over again. It's also why this little place is packed on a miserable Sunday afternoon. I'm so glad I went here at the behest of my hubby or I would've missed out on my new favorite burger place!
