Saw some of the negative reviews this place have but I do not think they deserve it. Dave himself helped to fix my car which was having very bizarre electrical issues and went out of his way to stress test it to make sure it was fixed properly because I told him I didn't have money for another set back. He did end up finding additional problems and was upfront about labor costs. Its expensive, yeah, but I think its comparable to other mechanics you can trust a lot less. I see other people complaining that their check engine lights and stuff came on after being repaired with a big bill. If you guys don't know after a repair to reset the codes and IF there are any additional problems that were not what you got repaired, it will take something like 20-50 miles before the cars computer registers the new problem. I feel strongly this guy is an honest mechanic, they keep great communication with me and have even done some digging for free for me when im trying to buy another used car. They have told me to turn down repair jobs for potential cars because they thought it wouldn't be worth it. I think it will be concerning when Dave retires because I won't know who else to go to that won't swindle me. read more

I wouldn't deal with any other auto shop in the state of Washington after dealing with this shop. Please be aware and do your own research before going to them. They will scam you out your money and not fix your car properly. I got my car back with two new P-codes and the check engine light came back on a day or two of getting it back. After paying them over $5,000 you'll think you would've got what you paid for. Once they got paid all that being nice went out the door. read more

They have a diagnosis fee which I have no problem with. And you shouldn't either. I would rather have them take the proper time to figure out what the actual repair will be/cost instead of taking an educated guess for free. Nobody should work for free. Ever go to a shop and get gaslit on a repair and how much it will cost? It's the worst. And it will cost you more than the diagnosis fee after it's all said and done. That doesn't happen here. They do the diagnosis, figure out the problem and give you a accurate cost and timeline. In the off chance the diagnosis doesn't uncover the full repair, they don't charge you another one. Ever get a call a month after the repair asking how your car is doing after the repair? I got one from Dave's and it was the first time I ever got a follow-up from any mechanic to see how my truck was holding up. Fantastic service. Highly recommend Dave's. I don't leave feeling swindled or confused and neither will you. read more

Mechanic forgot to put the battery cover back on after testing it. If they can't pay attention and put back the only thing they took apart. How can I trust them to take apart the rest of my car for a repair. On top of that they charged me $150 to tell me my battery was faulty. Which is exactly what I told them when I went it there. I had requested further diagnostics to rule out something else causing the battery to go bad. The shop did not do this. After I went to auto zone to replace my battery and they checked the voltage of the battery for free. It took less than 2 minutes to do. My car also tells me the voltage of the battery which is how I knew it was having a problem in the first place. I was going to not write anything at all and just suck up the scam/waste of money but when I opened the hood and saw my car wasn't even put back together I had to warn others. Customer service was nice and friendly. read more

I just bought my Mini Countryman and had to get a couple things fixed as I had a coolant and oil leak that the dealership that I bought it from couldn't fix. I can't say enough about David and his staff. They took care of getting in touch with the dealership that purchases the car from to handle the warranty and getting my car fixed. Stephanie kept me updated as to what was happening. Although it took awhile for me to get my car back as parts were delayed, I knew that me and my car was in good hands. Thank you so much for all you did David, Stephanie and all the mechanics that worked hard on getting my car back on the road. read more

Hey guys! This is your honest review. I'm an 18 year old girl who it's quite easy to get over on. I trusted these people to check out my check engine light, and they told me I don't have catalytic converters which is the code on my engine, I have a straight pipe so it's just that. Actually I have 2 catalytic converters which if they actually lifted my car would've seen. Went back to them when it came back on and they gave me the same excuse! I'm asking for my money back this morning after finding out about this from another place. I had months to fix this, but David's Auto Repair did not do their job and let me know. For $100+ they did not do their job. read more

This service center had a chance to gain me as a lifetime customer. It was my first time using them, and I was looking for a local place to get my car serviced... and I told them that on the phone when I called. There was a rattling on the right side of my car. I had just had my breaks replaced by a friend... so I thought it may have something to do with that. So I took it in to find out what might be happening. Come to find out, it was simply a loose screw that hadn't been tightened. They charged me $160 to tell me that, and tighten the screw. REALLY? I was shocked! I don't expect it for free... but $160? I will never be back. I totally feel taken advantage of. They could have had a customer for life... sad. read more

Generally I despise having to go to an auto repair shop. My lack of knowledge in this area always leaves me feeling like I am being scammed. Did not feel this way at David's, at all. I felt confident that they knew what they were speaking about and I appreciated that they presented the option for my repairs, giving me the pros and cons of each, ultimately allowing me to make the final decision....without any pressure. I really felt like they had my best interest in the path chosen to repair my vehicle. Thank you so much for fitting me in without an appointment, thank you for your communication while you had my car and for helping me resolve my issue. Would definitely recommend and will definitely return. read more

1 year ago, I took my vehicle in and had them do the water pump (Main reason) and brakes (They found them leaking and in terrible shape) When they put the first water pump in, it failed and so they ordered another and repaired the vehicle. (Note this is history which is pertinent) Now on 6/04/2016 I go in for front end work. They told me it was dangerous to drive on it (This was 9-12 months ago) so I finally got the $$ up and made the appointment. I then get a call at 3 pm telling me "We didn't fix it as the parts were questionable" OK, so I ask "Why not call for new parts?" They replied "It's too late" not "We didn't order them, or "We got overbooked" just "We didn't fix it" Thing is, I looked underneath the vehicle, they never even touched it. If you're running a shop you'll have 5-9 vehicles in various states of repair, keeps the mechs busy and money rolling in. So, in short they had NO INTENT of fixing this vehicle, didn't give a damn about my safety either. Plus they didn't care about anyone else as if the linkage lets go then I could crash into other vehicles...' This shop is DANGEROUS to trust as they don't care about life, nor honesty. I came in with an exhaust leak on my truck. A great tech named Josh diagnosed quickly and the repair was done in an hour. I told them I didn't want anything else done unless it was drastic (it's a 30 year old truck, there's plenty "wrong") and they respected that. The price was very fair and the customer service outstanding. They have a couple gems of employees in Josh (tech mentioned above) and Jessica (service consultant) who I can not say enough good things about. 5/5. Will come again when the next thing on my Ranger goes. read more

My daughter was traveling from Alabama on a Western vacation with just one other girl friend. As they returned to her car, after taking a hike in Mount Hood, realized her car was leaking oil and called us for guidance. I immediately went to the Bosch web site to find a Bosch Service Center for her to have her car serviced. I found David's Auto in Vancouver, Washington, called and spoke to Jessica who immediately addressed my concerns. She spoke to my daughter, ordered the part needed and arranged for the car to be repaired the next day. It was comforting to know and trust that she was taken care of by a Bosch Service Center. THANK YOU to Jessica and the staff at David's Auto Repair for taking care of her and getting back on the road. Just a little FYI about her trip, she overall drove 6,650 miles in her Western trip from Alabama! read more

Front rep was amazing. Mechanic barely did a diagnostic. All I was told was there was a leak and not where it was.

Straightforward diagnosis and resolution for vehicle issue. Fair price and done in a timely manner. Jessica is very courteous handling the intake and communications. We have used David's for about 5 years with 3 different vehicles. They have always done a good job at a fair price. I have shopped the pricing on specific components and they are not the cheapest but we don't want that, i want good work at a fair price and they deliver on that. Most importantly we recently have a huge issue with something they did, huge communications breakdown. I was expecting David to make it right and was very pleased with his offer to take care of the issue before I even asked. No one or any company is perfect but i judge them when things go wrong, and as a long history has shown, David does it right and makes it right. Long term client, and happy to stay and keep it that way. Thank you David for running your business the way it should be run. read more

I've been going to David's Auto for decades, back when he was up in Hazel Dell. I strayed one time, and learned a rough lesson. I love my truck, and it's been in the family for over a decade. Took my car here based of the recommendation of the tow truck company so they could work on my power steering issue. They had my car for an extended period of time and told me there were no error codes then asked to take it apart to determine the problem. They then came back a few days later with a problem. After authorizing them to replace the part then they wanted to replace another part. I told them to give me my car and took it to the dealership. The dealership just called me and informed that the part, Davi's Auto, replaced was not needed and should not have been replaced. I was then informed of what the actual problem is and they were so far from the truth. Thanks for wasting my time and money! I do NOT and will NOT recommend your shop to anyone in the future. I hope that this helps save someone else from getting screwed! read more

Worst shop ever! My truck is 100x worse after taking it there! I was so mad I started crying. Left oil all over my floor boards and my Lincoln Navigator shakes and literally barely runs now. The owner DAVID is such an egotistical moron. He is condescending to women and the worst communicator ever. They WERE going to charge me $700 to install spark plugs. Whatever they did to "check out" my truck made it 100x worse. The engine lite is NOW on after being at David's automotive. I had a bad feeling when I went up there and the way he was speaking to me. I wish I could give this creep no stars! I was lured in by a special, an oil change for $25 ish. Claimed they would check out my car while I waited. They saw me coming. As a working mom, I have to have my car during the work week. My regular mechanic only does monday to Friday. I will admit it had been a while since my car has been serviced, but I take care of my car and I have very low miles. Anyway they got me in for the oil change then wanted to do my timing belt. Flush all my fluids and change me $50 to balance a tire that Americas tire would do for free. That's what got me! Huge red flag this guy - the owner - wasn't on the level. Took my car back to me regular guy, he charged me $50 less than Dave's quoted on the timing belt. Plus refused to flush anything. Said it wasn't needed with my low miles. Then went to Americas tire where they didn't charge me a dime to balance and rotate my tires. Be ware! read more

Been taking our car there for the same problem and each time they claim to fix it but it's never fixed and they charged is a total of $6,000 to not fix anything. So when we go to ask them why haven't they fixed it they tell us that they hope our car has more problems and breaks down. They told us we brought a crappy car bit is that not their job to fix up cars?????? My experience with this company was great! Professional, knowledgeable and a hassle-free experience. I don't have a regular shop that I go to and the last time time I've taken my car in to the brand name service center I walked out with sticker shock. This time when I needed a repair, I shopped around. The brand name service center quoted over $200 to hook up and assess the problem. I walked in to David's shop and was greeted by him immediately. He gave me a no-nonsense evaluation on the spot and quoted the initial diagnostic at $85. I went to the third repair shop and stood in their lobby (after ringing the buzzer) for over ten minutes before walking out. The work was done well and David worked around my schedule. He kept me up to date on the progress and completed repairs. My car passed DEQ in seconds and drives so much better. Not sure how Yelp selects "recommended" reviews but I would definitely look at all the reviews before making your decision based on the two recommended reviews. read more

Can not believe this place is still in business I called to explain to David the owner I would assume my issues with my car to see if it is something he could resolve or not his response " so what do you want me to do here" maybe listen to your customers concerns to evaluate the problem and see if it's something you can deal with or not instead he says have a nice day hangs up the phone I called back to continue the conversation like an adult he proceeds to tell me I'm not welcome there and hangs up the phone again the attitude and the way this guy does business is unacceptable his work is below average there shop looks disgusting and the mans attitude is nothing shy of scum they don't even deserve the one star I have to give them to post this review. hey David "have a nice day" read more

Wow!!!! Incredible customer service and state of the art workmanship. My daughters vehicle broke down on the freeway on her way to a remote job site three hours away from her residence. Knowing no one in the area, 7 months pregnant and parents that live out of state she was quite stressed out. We had David's team look over the car and they did a very through review. They fixed all safety issues to make sure my daughters vehicle was safe to drive and at a fair market price. To top it off the owner of the shop David went and personally picked up my daughter at the airport to bring her back to the shop to pick up her car at NO CHARGE! Now that is outstanding customer service! If you're looking for a reputable automotive repair shop, you have come to the right place. I really like this place because I have always gone into a repair shop with my guards up (as i am pretty knowledgeable with car repairs myself and don't like getting raped) but this place is not the same as other repair shops. They are straight forward, knowledgeable and reasonable with their prices. They don't try to up-sell you or rip you off. I firmly believe that a majority of their business must come from referrals or previous customers. I know that I will be going back there and referring my friends and family for future car repair needs. Thanks David for having a place consumers can trust!! read more
