2004 bmw x3, 220,000+ miles still runs strong! have been bringing this car to Paul, Ted and Chris for about 4 years now and they have never steered me wrong. I called last minute on a wednesday to see if one of the tech's could diagnose an AC issue as the weather this week had started to get a bit warm. I called up and the receptionist was very helpful, courteous and even did a quote for me over the phone for an unrelated issue. They were able to get me in right away--took a 10 minute drive and was taken care of and back on the road in under two hours! The owner is super friendly and is on-site--will answer any questions you might have about the service and process. All in all i was able to get a complete AC repair including diagnosis, labor, AND FREON GAS for under 250 bucks. You cannot step foot in most import shops in portland, let alone a volvo specialist for under that amount--hell it costs 200 to walk in the door at most shops!! Took my Mercedes in after I ran the side mirror into my garage...ugh. Dangling off the side, it was a mess. I went in to see what the "damage" would be. One of the guys came out to take a look and was able to fix it to workable (though not perfect) condition in a couple of minutes. No charge. Since then, I've called for requests for standard services (alignment etc.) and they refer me to a larger shop that is super affordable. Peter's Import / Bartosh is my absolute favorite shop in town. Peter's is the shop and Bartosh is the parts shop. All inclusive. Ted, the owner has got to be the most straight up auto shop owner/operator I've come across in a long time. Not only is he friendly and cordial, but he knows that good customer service will ensure repeat business. His prices are fair and his staff is extremely talented. They do an amazing job and will back up their work. I recently had my GTI in have the fuel injectors replaced and my valves walnut blasted. My car has never driven so good or been so responsive. They completed my car in the timeliest of manners for a fair and honest price and I am a customer for life. As for Bartosh, the parts shop. Chris is the best parts manager! He is quite knowledgeable and has never let me down. I have 7 VW's in our family, and I have been getting all of our parts from Chris for years. He started out as my parts guy, and is now what I consider to be a great friend. I love to go in and pick up my parts and chat with the guys in the shop. My 2010 Volvo XC90 started making a noise whenever I would turn the steering wheel and the "anti skid temporarily off" light would come on. I took it back to where I had purchased it and have had all the service work done on it. They gave me a $1500 estimate to fix the steering angle sensor. Jim Fisher gave me an estimate of $2000. I took it in to Peter's and after 3 hours they called me and gave me a rundown of the minor things they had done. There was nothing wrong with the steering angle sensor, it just needed a flush of steering fluid. I paid a grand total of $238. Also, the customer service was AMAZING!!! Friendly and fast service! Took my Forester in without an appointment and a day later, what I thought was an electrical issue was nothing more than a blown fuse, even though we thought we had changed the bad fuses. Long story short, he was backed up and got to it as soon as he could and found the problem and fixed it at no charge! Absolutely overcharges and uses cheaper aftermarket parts while charging you for BMW factory parts. My next mechanic showed me the parts when he pulled them out(after 4 months and the same thing went wrong again), went back and compared them to the old invoice I kept. Never went back. Have loved my new import mechanic up in BG for a while now. Nothing else to say other than my humble advice to steer clear of Paul at Peter's Import. Take it as you will. read more

First experience with this shop. While there were delays that were unavoidable (getting parts shipped in from the East coast during a major snow storm), the shop's mechanics did the job right. They correctly diagnosed the problem (w/ Range Rovers and electrical issues, that's not always easy) and applied the fix in a very timely way as soon as the part arrived. ZERO STARS.......I have been taking my cars to Peters for years but was very disappointed when I recently took my BMW in and was told that ALL my power steering lines were leaking. REALLY? ALL OF THEM? AT THE SAME TIME? AND to the tune of $950 to fix them. So I decided to get a second option. I took my car to a well known shop in Portland... Boyd Motor Werks put my car on the rack and within 1/2 hour had the 95 cent clamp replaced.....plus labor $48.93. I thought I hit the lottery!! It pays to .get a second option!! Yesterday, my 2012 Volvo was running really rough and I had taken it into Peter's regularly since I bought it. They diagnosed it this morning and told me it was misfiring and needed new spark plugs, it would be $350 to do this. I was surprised and Paul told me, "yeah, usually you have the spark plugs replaced at the 75,000 mile service and your car is at 88,000 miles." I said, "but you guys performed the 75,000 mile service?" Paul said, "couldn't have because these are definitely not new plugs that you've got." I said, "maybe it was something else that I paid you $700 for?" Paul said, "yeah, the 75k service is only $500, check your receipt." I checked my receipt and yes, it was $725 that I paid for the 75,000 mile service - just 7 months ago! They gave me the new spark plugs today for free but this is pretty shady business. I need a mechanic I can trust. I'll never return to Peter's. read more

This place will rip you off. I took my kia sportage here only because they put a timing chain on the same car last year....600.00. Which I found a fair price. So I needed a new brake master cylinder and I thought I would have them do an oil change as well. So over the phone they told me (Paul) it was going to be 275.00. So I said ok. Then I go pick my car and the bill is 480.00!!. I guess he forgot to mention the labor of 190.00 over the phone!!. I am going to carry this problem to the end including standing out front with a warning sigh to others . I had to pay it with money I didn't have. I will never, ever go back to them. Ok....now its a week later and they have decided to give me back 100.00 and admitted to misquoting the price.........I guess there is a God. read more

WOMEN BEWARE! My wife's car had engine light on and had to go through DEQ. Peter's turned the light off for free and said it would be about $200 to fix her car. The light came back on and failed DEQ. Dropped car off with DEQ document stating what was wrong with car. Now Peter's says it will cost $375 plus tax. What happen to $200 to fix? We said forget it, went to pick up car and was charged $51 for diagnosing. REALLY? DEQ document gave code and location of O2 sensor that was bad. Toyota gave a free estimate over the phone. From $200 verbal to now $375 written estimate and a $51 charge for telling my wife what she already knew. When I questioned him about the $51 and the difference in the verbal and written estimate price all he would do was ask me if I worked for free? read more

It was the day after Christmas and no one was open, while Peter's was already booked they fit the inspection in and gave it a thorough walk through even working with me as they performed the inspection. One of the hardest things to do is to find a decent reputable mechanic someone you trust someone who has your best interest at heart who is honest fair and reliable luckily I have found such a mechanic after looking for years ,Peter's auto repair on Evergreen Boulevard was kind enough to take a look at my wife's Mercedes when no one else could find out what was wrong with it she gave them a rundown of the problems that she had with the car they gave us a diagnosis in less than two hours charged her for only one hour . Gave us an estimate , fixed the car to our satisfaction and we have been going back there for the past 12 years .this is the first time I've actually thought about writing down my thoughts and letting other people know what a great outfit these folks are. I just recently bought my 2nd ever BMW from a dealer when only after having it for two days the check engine light came on. (And yes, I know that BMW's are high maintenance and its a common car for problems.) I just love the comfort and speed of these cars! The dealership took full ownership of the issue(s) and sent it off to Peters for the diagnosis and repairs. I called a few times checking to see the progress of the repairs and was pleasantly surprised of the AWESOME customer service!!!! My car was making a strange noise and the repair shop I usually go to could not fit me in for three days, so being impatient I followed what looked like great reviews on the internet and brought my car in as a first time customer to Pete's. The quote that came back to me was over $1,700.00. So of course I patiently waited the three days to get into my original mechanic who came back with a bill of $80.00 for a simple fan belt repair. This is just shocking to me. I certainly hope their trying to take advantage of a lady in distress doesn't work on that many people. I guess a little patience saved me $1700.00 after all. read more

I took my car in for a leaky radiator. I did not want to wait to take it over to Portland. They were kind enough to work me right in. They called and told me the radiator was leaking and it would be over a $1,000. I felt that was way too much and told them so. When I picked it up to take it to Portland, they said I owed over $100.00 for the diagnosis! What a rip off. I offered to bet them lunch that I could get it fixed in Portland at the Volvo specialist shop for 80% of that! They would not take me up on that- assured me that they did quality work, Volvo radiator, etc. They wanted 50% more than what I got it fixed for- and I got a 2 year guarantee- usually the Volvo radiator is warrantied for only a year. They have a good reputation, but you are going to pay for it! read more
