I make my return to Yelp in order to give Tyler of Ellis Motorworks a 5-star review. In all honesty, I suck at cars and entered sheer panic when my car all of a sudden shut off after I got some gas last week. I gathered a few quotes because I felt like I was ripped off for a starter fix a little less than a year ago by another shop. Tyler is an expert in imports and has a Nissan certification. I have a 2013 Honda Accord Sport, and I'm clueless. Rather than upsell and rip me off, he offered to come to my broken car. After a diagnosis, he knew exactly what to fix- my alternator belt was completely fucked. He got the parts, and fixed everything. He even took care of a few other stupid issues I was having, closing it out with a fresh oil change. Here's the breakdown: $340 for parts including an alternator belt, oil change stuff and some clips for a messed up panel. $300 for labor - He drove to me, ran a diagnosis electronically, drove to buy parts, explained and showed me what the problem was. After, he texted me a list of other potential issues, highlighting what was most urgent and what should be prioritized. I hate unfairness but I respect paying for labor as long as it's reasonable. Fuck car problems but Tyler is dope. I paid him, and gave him some of my company's ice cream for his him and his family. He's my mechanic going forward. read more

On October 20th, 2023, I decided to use YELP to search for a car repair service for the first time. Tyler Ellis responded promptly and arranged an appointment to examine my car a week later, which was convenient for me. On a Sunday morning, Tyler arrived and performed a diagnostic check, examined the fluids and oil levels, and found out that my axle was bent, which caused the tire to sit at an angle. He gave me an honest quote for the repair work, which was around $600. I will order a new axle to be shipped to him for the replacement, and I will schedule the next appointment with him. after neglecting maintenance and repairs for too long, my car was far overdue for some new brakes. unfortunately the mechanics i've gone to in the past are just too expensive for me so i decided to shop around online and sent a project pricing request to several local mechanics. ellis motorworks promptly responded with the most affordable quote so i booked an appointment asap. tyler was available within a couple days of my request. when messaging, he kept me updated on the price of parts and his eta. before beginning the repair, he also asked me if there was anything i'd like looked at while working on my car. there was, and he was kind enough to inspect that along with a general inspection of sorts. he was finished with the job in less than an hour, maybe less than 45 mins but i wasn't keeping track. he explained to me a few issues he found during inspection that i was aware of, and a few more that my previous mechanic seemed to have missed. he took the time to discuss my car with me and explain things i wasn't familiar with, and gave me some tips on breaking in the new brakes and prolonging their life. later on, he also texted me a list of recommended repairs by order of urgency. overall, tyler was kind, professional, helpful, honest, chill, and a pleasure to work with. i've never used a mobile mechanic before but now that i have there's no going back! this experience made getting repair work done all too easy and convenient, and surprisingly affordable! i've found my new mechanic for now on! read more
