I didn't end up using All About Automotive but wanted to leave a review on the brief interaction I had with them. I called in wanting to see if they would be available to look into certain my car, they were but wanted to charge almost $200 just to read my check engine light code. (Ridiculous) considering this is free to do at places like AutoZone, Jiffy Lube, Valvoline etc. almost $200 to plug a computer into my car... on top of an additional $200 to diagnose my car. So approx. $400 total out the gate no repairs. That's insane, I also read reviews prior to calling which are about middle ground but I figured her you can't win everybody so let me see. There's one review that noted All About Automotive provided them with a loaner car. It way from a few years ago but I wanted to see if that was a possibility still so I asked if they provide one. The woman I spoke with (Jennifer I believe) for this whole interaction let out a snarky short laugh, then said "no, get a rental car". This was annoying because, OBVIOUSLY, that would be the next route, and also why are you laughing at me for asking a very reasonable question. All in all once she told me they were going to charge me almost $400 off the bat I no longer wanted to use their services. Now with this being said, if you don't care or can afford the additional fees on top of the cost what ever it may be to fix your car then it doesn't matter. Hard to start cold almost impossible to start when warm Got to the point where I wouldn't use my Suburban because if I drove somewhere I would be stranded until it cooled back down. I took it to All About Automotive and discussed my issues, they took the time to listen and did some diagnostics on it and let me know there was an issue with the starter and corrosion on the battery cables between the two it starts better than it has for the past 5 years. I had them do a few other maintenance jobs and I was good to go. They also noted that my radiator had a leak so they wouldn't add the antifreeze as I asked, which I appreciated. They gave me a quote and because i recently lost my job I told them I could take care of that issue. I brought it home it runs great and I immediately replaced the radiator myself but really appreciate them pointing it out to me so now I feel better about the winter season and it is ready to go. Well yelpers, 3 years ago when I used this automotive repair shop, I would have given them probably three or four stars. Their cost was high and a couple of times they did not complete my job and I had to take the car back for them to complete, but on the all, they did a pretty good job. I moved out of the Portland area 3 years ago but I am now back living in Gresham. I have a new vehicle that needs repair work. After thorough research on the area of what repairs my vehicle needs, I have concluded that it probably needs ignition coils. Three days ago I called AAA Auto repair and asked if I could bring the vehicle in for them to inspect and repair. They wanted to call me back. That was okay. Today, I called AAA Auto repair and talked to Karen, who is the owner's wife. She and her husband Steve and their son are very pleasant people to deal with. But today she dropped the bombshell on me that in order to get my car fixed at her mechanic shop. and even before she would even come near my car or touch my car, she had to have a covid-19 test done on my vehicle. What?! That vehicle has been sitting in a grass field parking lot for the past 3 weeks and I have never heard in the news or otherwise of a vehicle contacting covid-19. Anyway, for them to even touch my vehicle they wanted me to hand over $400 upfront for a covid-19 test on my vehicle. I have never heard of that before, but I was not going to fall for this added unneeded expense. I basically thanked Karen hung up and since then found a mechanic in the Gresham area that will work on my vehicle and doesn't need to test it for covid-19. In fact, when I mentioned that to the new mechanic, he laughed. Anyway, fellow yelpers be a little concerned about AAA Auto repair in Gresham. They now seem to be coming up with new, ridiculous, and nonsense for you to even bring your vehicle to their garage. Anyway, finding this new mechanic, I am totally happy and I do wish Steve, Karen and her son the best of luck in their endeavors, but I would advise them to put a little more time and effort into fixing the vehicles then find excuses not to fix them. It is now a day later and I have had the opportunity to speak to many of my past colleagues and friends regarding the probability of my 2017 Dodge caravan contacting covid-19, and they all agree that they have never heard of a case like that and to be told that my vehicle is suffering from covid-19 is ridiculous. read more

Walked into this shop for a repair estimate, the mechanics wife was not helpful and said She'd have to talk to her husband who owned the place. She walked to the back of the shop to get said mechanic but said "she was warning me about him" then came back and said they couldn't help me with my automotive issue. She did not ask many questions and the whole situation felt like they just wanted me to go away. Awful customer service, don't know how a place like this is in business. read more

DO NOT BRING YOUR CAR INTO THIS SHOP. Their 5 stars review must be fake account created by the owner themselves. We brought our car in last week. And everything that they were pricing us that need to be replace were all over priced. After telling the admin team that will just do the one thing that they recommended it to be fix. They have a completely different attitude towards us because we didn't want to spend $4,000 worth of stuff they quoted us for. Brought it to another mechanic shop they mentioned certain parts wasn't place back on correctly due to ( All about automotive). All the problems was fixed with half the cost of what AAA quoted us for. I have an older Prius and have always taken it to Toyota for service and repairs. I was quoted $1200 for a 120,000 mile tune up at Toyota; that's a pretty big chunk of change. I thought I would shop around and remembered All About Automotive being members of the local Chamber of Commerce so I gave them a call. For less than $500 I was able to get the tune up. Yeah, still awesome. They helped advocate for me and found a lot of issues with a vehicle I bought from Shift.com (shift technologies or their other names). They found the evap cannister etc needed to be replaced, and recommended to replaced the fluids, belts, etc. They fixed my truck but the dealer did help with only a little bit of the issue. All About Auto however, was amazing. They were incredibly busy and couldn't always get to me but they ended getting a hold of me, fixed my vehicle, took it through a separate DEQ (because Shift wanted a physical copy) and they did all this. They even sent me a card about their service. What a 180 on customer service compared to Shift (and I am sure other dealers). Unfortunately, the dealer is not providing compensation for the fluids, body work, trim, tires, filters and shocks that need to be replaced. Thanks All About Auto for actually trying to helping and doing it literally. If there's something I can't fix on my vehicle I am taking it to you from now on. Thanks again. read more

100% Disabled veteran here. My engine went out in my pickup and these folks were more than happy to help me out, after all I was only receiving 80% benefits at the time so I borrowed the $$k from family to rebuild/engine replacement. Yeah I forgot to mention it was a 4cyl 22re Toyota motor out a early 90's Toyota pickup. So if you have anything more complicated start digging deep! Well after about $3k later I made it from WA state to California. Then the engine blows. An internal bolt was not installed causing resistive oil burn to the point it needed another engine......again. So dont make the owners Harley payments! read more

What an amazing shop! Great owners and wonderful staff. They found the issue on my car and instead of replacing the part with would cost me 3800$. They offered to service it for 200$! It solved my issue temporarily. But at least I am still driving and part is not completely worn out. So thanks for looking into my glitch and thanks for checking out reviews of other mechanics who dealt with the same issue before. The shop closed on weekends so if you need to rent a car. Use Budget. After reading some of the seemingly bot reviews that give this place a one star, i had to post a quick review. I went here about a year ago however, this shop took in my complex and modified japanese sports car with zero quims.. and man they did an amazing job of repairing it. Said car was very tiresome to work on, and theres no room to work and its repairs are difficult (i say this because i had to work on it a few times... at least compared to working on an old truck etc). They charged me an extremely fair amount and also let me know about everything they thought of the vehicle and potential future issues. Mind you i took this same car to 2 other shops before going to them, both those other shops attempted to overcharge me and were also unable to fix the issues properly. All About Automotive fixed my car the right way, the first time. at a good price. Highly recommend, its been awhile but I plan on taking my car here for the next repairs that may be needed. Will not go back. We spent over $6,500 having work done on our car over a 2 year period to then be told we needed a new engine. Many times we still had the same issue after paying to have it fixed. Yes they would have us bring it back after calling them, but that is extra time I don't always have. I was happy with the All About Automotive admin staff, just not the mechanic(s). We found another mechanic that we are very happy with and who is less expensive. read more

My Fiancé and I Just moved to the area last year and decided to try All About Automotive as our Subaru was in desperate need of an oil change. At first, I thought it was going to be a regular mechanic shop but I was kindly greeted by laughter when I walked in (always a good sign of a company that takes care of its employees.) After the oil change, we got a letter in the mail thanking us for choosing All About Automotive. I couldn't help but think that it was such a nice gesture in an era of spam emails, to receive a physical letter in the mail (currently hanging on our fridge haha). Then, before our next oil change we got a letter in the mail from them saying how they have a service that they can come to pick our car up and perform maintenance if we're located within X mile radius which is SUPER cool! I mean who wants to leave their home when they're offering a free service like that? Then, today we got a car fax report and I've never gotten one before so now I have some info about my vehicle which is another awesome feature they gave us. Like wow. Went here on a recommendation. Specifically stated I wanted an oil change and a tune up if my spark plugs were bad. Debbie at the front desk was rude and told me that if I couldnt leave my vehicle all day and pay $165 for a diagnostic check, then I would only get an oil change. I waited TWO HOURS for an oil change only to be told that my spark plugs are shot, so I went to another shop, same morning, to have them replaced by a competent staff that cares about customer service. I brought in my Toyota Yaris this morning, complaining of squeaking brakes. I told them to also check the alignment. They did a total-car inspection--of everything--which they said they do for all new customers (me). Obviously, less-scrupulous firms might use this as an excuse to flag unnecessary issues for repair. Nope. In fact, when they called me and said the car was ready (only a few hours after I brought it in), they said the brakes were fine! They did do the front alignment (which I knew was needed), for the price they'd quoted, but they said the brakes didn't need anything. Maybe some dust/dirt had gotten in and was making the squeak. They gave me a point-by-point report of all of my car's systems, and recommended that I pay attention to the tire tread. Who has integrity like this? I'll definitely be using All About Automotive in the future. read more

Very disappointed. When I got the estimate after dropping my car off the first time they didn't include everything like they said they would, so the price really threw me off when they sent me the other estimates, I still scheduled the appt to get it fixed, after getting my car fixed the engine light was still on and this time it was solid, so I called and told them what happened after it should have been fixed, so they scheduled me TWO weeks out and I told them on the phone when scheduling I had to leave out of town that day at 4pm if they could be finished before then and they said no problem. I get there I don't even get my car till 5 just for them to call me almost a WEEK later just to tell me they needed to look at it more because I took it home early and they didn't finish testing....... so of course i scheduled 2 weeks out again because I'm a person for giving chances when my family and friends told me to stop going here, just for them to finally say they made a mistake and missed something else that needed to be replaced along with the other thing they replaced, so they only charge me the difference but still totaled to about 1500. And of course they have to schedule a week out to replace it again after a week of waiting for the estimate. It seemed like they just shrugged me off and that it wasn't important. I finally get my car back and this is probably the only real coincidence that happened while it was there was the starter decided to start making noises which they didn't say anything until I turned my car on from picking it up and heard it so I had to walk back in and ask someone to take a look for them to say "oh I forgot but last night the starter started making noise". It's been a couple weeks now and I go to check my oil and the hood won't open. How many coincidences/mistakes can there be? So I swing by, they check it out and not even 5 min later they send me away to someone else or say they can charge me 115/hr.. on something that they most likely caused. So I didn't go where they recommended, I went out to Clackamas to a place I could trust and they squeezed me in, fixed it in 30 min, and called me and told me they fixed it and it looked like someone had done work on it recently and took a part off and didn't put it back on right and the cable got unattached, so they reconnected it and charged me about 60 bucks on something all about automotive should have fixed. These people will NOT give it to you straight. They tried to charge me $950 for a full replacement of the rear break drums and shoes. Not only did Les Shwab quote me at $450 but after their inspection they said my breaks still looked fine and I ended up not even having to replace them. Not only that.. all about automotive sent me a full breakdown of EVERY SINGLE TINY ISSUE they found with my 1993 Ford and tried to make it seem like my car was about to fall apart if I didn't address these issues. They also never called me to tell me that they were going to do some minor work to clamp my exhaust pipe back to its hangers EVEN THOUGH I TOLD THEM NOT TO WORRY ABOUT THAT BECAUSE I HAD A FRIEND THAT WAS GOING TO HELP ME WELD THE BROKEN PEICES BACK TOGETHER. They ended up charging me $180 for basically a diagnostic and putting some hose clamps on my exhaust pipe to secure it. DO NOT TAKE YOUR VEHICLE HERE THEY WILL TRY AND SQUEEZE YOU FOR EVERY PENNY THEY CAN. read more

I'm traveling the states in my sprinter van I converted and needed new brake pads on the back wheels. Usually do most work on the van myself but when you're traveling sometimes it's easier to let a shop handle things. After about an hour or so of being the only customer there they came to me with an estimate for $1200 wanting to change or service all of the calipers along with the brake pads. She went into a long speech about how it was super hard to find the parts and I'm lucky she found them. I'm not saying they were trying to get over on me but they definitely should have gone about the process in what I would consider a less forceful manner. Why couldn't you just perform the work I did asked for and not shove unnecessary options in my face. I went to a local shop in hopes of a straight forward deal. Turns out just one of the back pads is worn. The next shop changed the back pads and suggested just a new caliper for the one back side. Calipers are usually life long parts on vehicles. They gave me the not so worn pad to swap out if the same side keeps wearing and serviced the caliper a bit to hopefully not wear out the pad so quick. read more

Rob made a large mistake while working on my wife's car, which could have cost me a motor had I not caught the problem within 25 miles from his shop. I contacted him with the problem and was told he didn't like me and didn't want me for a customer (that was after he took my large payment). He didn't have to like me, however he could have done his job correctly as any reputable shop would do and have some concern and offer to check out the problem.
