I have been coming here for a few years. Great service each time. Only the basics here for me, but they are extremely thorough. I have a newer wrangler and a 25 year old truck. They do excellent work and spend the time to remind me of what I need to do in addition to my normal oil changes. Very respectable considering I usually don't go for the extras. I am not sure why I keep coming to this specific spot. Probably because it is close to where I live. I would suggest going somewhere else. This is the worst customer service I have had at any oil change place and it is every time. No one greets you when you come or tells you wait times. You could sit here for 2 hours waiting and no one will come. The people in the other line who pulled in way later than you might go first because there is no check in to what people need or timeframes. Don't go here. I have usually had good experience with Gresham Valvoline. But last time 2 things were upsetting. The attendant told me that a cabin airfilter would cost 20-something dollars. I was charged $48! I would never have gotten the filter if I had known the real price. I brought my own synthetic high mileage oil, but was still charged $52 for the oil change. I called Valvoline to inquire about DEQ inspections at the Gresham location. After waiting in my car for my turn (no one came to the car to check anything as I waited) to pull forward, I found out that DEQs are not provided there due to an internet issue. It would be nice if the phone connect was up to date on the services at this location. Nevertheless, it was a long wait to find this out. However, once Virginia came over to help me, she was successful in changing my attitude from annoyed and disappointed to a contented customer. She offered to do at a vehicle and fluid checkup as I was already there after waiting so long. She ever so helpful, kind, and gracious in the way in which she treated me. She is an A+ representative and gives great service and all with an attitude that is ever so pleasant and helpful. Will go back for next oil change and hope Virginia is still there! read more

Do not go here unless you want your vehicle absolutely destroyed!! They ruined my car and to the point it's not worth even getting fixed. Took it in for an oil change a month ago 2 weeks in started smelling like something was burning. Took it back to the same location and a young gentleman stated everything was fine. He didn't see anything wrong with it. A week later while driving home my car completely dies won't start. And had to be tripled A back to my home town (2 hours away) just to find out it would cost thousands to fix. A stranger passing by when waiting for triple A (who actually worked at that location in the past) stated there was NO OIL IN MY CAR! That there was an oil leak that it should've been caught by valvoline. When I returned to valvoline asking for a phone number to file a claim the manager was rude. And wasted my time. I came in there for a phone number to call to file a claim not for you to sit there and treat me like I'm the stupid one. While you go over your security footage. I ended up calling the customer service line and they stated that they are unable to assist me! Even though their policy is "within 30 days you can file a claim" the gentleman over the phone wouldn't even help me start the claim filing process and just hung up on me! Never again would I ever return to valvoline (at least this location) nor recommend this establishment to any of my friends or family! I suggest you steer away from this unprofessional location and take your money somewhere else and not get stuck without a working vehicle and financial hardship!!! read more

Good mother of god - worst service I've ever seen. Ran by simply to get an engine light code checked. Typically they'll send someone out with a clipboard for preliminary check-in... Today, nothing. I waited almost 2 hours without being acknowledged. Once I finally reached the bay, the team launched into oil change mode without a word. I had to ask that they all stop what they were doing and explained that all I needed was a code check. Dude looked me dead in the eye and said "My code reader is down." DO NOT go to this location! I went in for an oil change ONLY, the manager urged me to get the transmission flush, listed off the reasons I needed it, so I agreed. A few weeks later, I'm driving down the road, towing my trailer, and my transmission slips hard in 3rd gear. After sitting for a moment and restarting the vehicle, it seemed to shift ok. I get to my destination, park, and my truck sits for a few weeks. Then, I go to tow again and my truck slips 5th and 3rd gear hard again. I stop, and do a series of checks, including the fluid. I find that it is INCHES above the "hot" marker on the dipstick. I look up the effects of having too much transmission fluid, go ahead and google the effects, if not, here is one of the thousands of links: https://mechanicbase.com/transmission/slightly-overfilled-transmission/ I go back to the location and the same manager that suggested I get the service in the first place kindly helps remove 3 QUARTS of overfilled fluid to get it to the level it should be... notice that all of the links say a quart overfill can cause serious issues... HOW ABOUT A GALLON? I get back on the road and 10 minutes later, BAM! another slip in 5th gear.... At this point, I contact the most reputable transmission shop in the area and ask them the effects of overfilling, he lists all the same issues listed in that link and says 3 quarts is an insane amount overfilled and that I need to contact a lawyer immediately and begin pressing charges because it is 100% on Valvoline. He also says that transmission 'flushes' are not good for your system and that no transmission shop would ever recommend that. You would normally get a much more in depth service at a transmission shop when servicing/ changing your ATF fluid. He said this is all due to their negligence. After hours of struggling on the side of the road, I finally get my trailer and truck parked somewhere safe for long-term sitting. I contact the transmission shop and guess what... THE MANAGER FROM VALVOLINE CALLED THEM TO SEE WHAT THE EFFECTS OF OVERFILLING A TRANSMISSION ARE! I now have record of the manager that suggested I do this in the first place contacting an actual transmission shop and asking questions about THE SERVICE THEY ARE PUSHING ON PEOPLE! How do you not understand the repercussions of the work you do? How insanely negligent is that?! I get an estimate for my transmission rebuild and it is $6,500 dollars... I now have a lawyer involved, ready for litigation, a transmission shop that is witness to their negligence, and these people (Valvoline) contact me to let me know my claim is denied... what a freaking joke. I have a free lawyer that provides me free litigation through work, evidence of them performing the service, evidence of them calling transmission shops and asking about how to do the service they obviously don't know how to do, evidence of them removing three quarts of ATF, and a google reviews section filled with people that have left this shop with damage done to their vehicle due to negligence. Hell, maybe we will get a nice little class action lawsuit going against them! Love watching professionals work, and these people did an excellent job, and paid attention to detail in their work. My truck's brake fluid reservoir was wiped down during the service... something you don't often see when getting an oil change, but this is an excellent indication of professionalism of those working there. Well done! They checked my battery, offered to check tire pressures: I'd just checked them myself, and my vehicle had just had its second warranty check about 2500 miles ago, but it was reassuring that they checked everything under the hood. (I change my oil every 2500 miles, one reason why I had almost 300,000 miles in most vehicles I've owned.) Very clean facility: that ALWAYS impresses me. Long story short: excellent service. Most oil change service emphasizes the quick-turnaround, but most people don't know that the last 1/2 cup of oil in the engine has the most contaminants in it, so by my watch, the time it took to completely drain the oil from my truck indicates to me that they were more interested in getting the last of the oil from the engine than they were in getting the maximum number of cars through their service bays. As a vehicle owner, this one fact should be of interest to you, especially if you want your vehicle's engine to last 200,000 miles or more. Very nice people who did an excellent job. read more

Always appreciate the service here. Used to drive from north Portland to this location because of it! That and always got a good price and they aren't pushy. They have a speal to give but that's just part of it. You tell them no and they say ok, and nothing more. I was excited to try their service since covid is currently going on, I found it convenient to stay in your car. I pulled up and Mike approaches my car (NO Mask) and asked what I need it. It was 5:00 they close at 6pm according to google. I said I need it an oil change he told me he couldn't do it because "his pan was full" I was baffled. So what are they doing open for a whole hour. My significant other got their car oil/filter changed here and the oil/filter was due. I usually do this myself and most mechanical work on my vehicles so seeing the work of someone else led to some disappointment. The oil drain plug was over-torqued by so much that I...yes....needed a breaker bar to get it off. This is after letting the engine get nice and warm and putting anti-seize on it. Let it sit for 30 minutes and it still wouldn't budge. I did get it off and had to replace the drain plug as it was nearly rounded off before I even got to it. Now the oil filter. It was so tight that not even the wrench could take it off. The wrench, attach to socket drive, just rounded off the metal from the filter. Darn. Rubber ratchet (for oil filters) didn't work, oil filter wrench didn't work and actually crimped the filter (cheap garbage metal). There was no brand name on the filter either. Finally, had to use a screw driver method and even then it just mutilated and mangled the filter so bad. Oil filter is supposed to be hand "snug" not torqued to 100 lbs. lol They have cost us money and several hours of time including a few friends who are mechanics who were helping me. EDIT: Zane came over and immediately fixed it with specialty tools and all is well. This is just a warning for future reference. read more

At that point if I wasn't stuck in line - not able to get out I would've left. I was gearing up for a cross country road trip, and took my car in for an A/C tune up, as when I was idling stuck in traffic, there was no working A/C. It worked fine while driving, and kept the car plenty cool. I took in it last year for the same issue, and it improved. This year, they notified me it was just serviced last year, and questioned if I still wanted it serviced, which I hesitated about, but decided to get it done anyhow. After I pulled out, I had now had no working A/C, not even while driving. They attempted to reservice it later in the day, but still nothing. I was offered a refund, but am still worse off than I was before going in for service. Long story short; if you need A/C service, I wouldn't trust them to do it. The staff itself was friendly, and tried to be accomodating, so I give them a good rating, but now having a broken A/C, especially when trying to move across country made this a terribly frustrating experience. I'm 4 hours into this problem, and still have to get it serviced elsewhere. read more

However I watched as the person replacing the oil in my car, spilled oil on my engine and I'm an attempt to degrease after said spill, failed to notify me of said incident. A appreciate their efficiency however the lack of communication with customers makes me not want to return to this location. When this business was Oil Can Henry's it was great, my go-to oil change place for years. My last oil change there, now Valvoline, was laughable as I was told my fuel filter needed changing. As it was changed on a previous visit (Oil Can Henry) and was only months old I inquired how they came to that conclusion. I heard the 'tech' below my vehicle say it looked dirty. The body of my fuel filter is metal, its location is near the gas tank, exposed to all the wet muck Portland roads can throw at it. I asked Mr. Head Tech to check the records for my vehicle on his computer, he verified that the fuel filter was indeed only months old. Nuff said, bye Valvoline you've lost my trust. read more

Dishonest and when you call them out on their dishonesty they will rebuttal and state that they said something else. Super unprofessional and would not recommend getting your car serviced here. They will tell you something is wrong with it that isn't, so always get a second opinion which is what I did and I even saw for my own eyes and they lied. Not worth the trouble. read more

Went there for oil and light bulb change, first they hurry you in for oil change hand you the prices and have no coupons I searched and search for there coupons can't find any. They will not help you find there coupons next day I see a 5 dollar off regular oil coupon. So I'm out five bucks. They suck there just kids who will not help you left very unsatified.
