I purchased my 2019 Highlander Hybrid in December 2021. It showed MPG of 27.9. Each time that I took it to the dealership for service, it was returned to me with a lower MPG. When it dropped to 23, I asked the service person why. I was told that it depends on the driver. I am the only driver! I recently began taking it to Master Tech. They are friendly & professional. When you make an "appointment" here, that's not really when your car is getting serviced. They should clarify that with an appointment you are dropping off your car and they will get to it when the "appointments" before you are done. They have a shuttle service to take you home while you wait and I'd suggest they tell you that when you make an appointment. I had an appointment at 10, it's 12:30 and they haven't even looked at my car yet. At 1:00 I had my estimate of work needed. I had to make a return appointment. These guys messed up on my thermostat housing, even though I took it back twice to them on top of that telling me I had a scored piston when I take it to an actual professional shop and they told me and showed me there was no scored piston. Kevin loves to argue and enjoys talking over me when I'm trying to explain my situation. Kevin needs customer service training monthly. Be aware of chop shops like this. I took my truck to Master Tech to have the vacuum pump replaced, and after my experience, I can see why people feel ripped off. Between their high prices and poor customer service, I was left disappointed/ resentful. My truck was in their shop for nearly a week, I spent thousands of dollars, and I still had to take it to another shop because I felt like Master Tech was giving me the runaround--at my expense. (Other shop was a much more pleasant experience) Master Tech also left trash in my truck and didn't reinstall the valve cover because bolts were missing. You'd think a mechanic shop would have spare bolts on hand to properly secure it. read more

The people were nice but quoted me 2500 for my drive shaft... that's robbery, I took it to Ron's automotive got it fixed for 16. That is a 900 dollar difference... I also felt like the guy Kevin treated me like I was stupid when I told him I was going another way "well you still have to pay for it" (the inspection) obviously... being nice isn't a good excuse for over charging customers if you're looking for a good deal this isn't it. Had a problem with our key receiver: It showed the key was always inserted, so we couldn't lock/unlock the car remotely. Took it to this place and asked them to fix it. They charged us $179 for diagnostics. They did a full checkout of our car and suggested many repairs and maintenance items. We didn't ask for this but had no choice in the matter. Few of the suggested repairs are on the Acura maintenance schedule (eg. "Need new timing belt at 60k" when timing belt swap not required before 105k). We were basically charged $179 so they could try to sell us unnecessary services. NONE of the diagnostic fee was applied to the actual repair charge. Then the $179 charge (familiar price?) to actually fix the problem. We believe this involved using a pick device to loosen a lever inside the receiver. We'd give a good guess that this took at most an hour. Twisting the knife, we were forced to pay $29 for Hazmat disposal...for picking a lever inside a hole in the dash. Here's another gem: They wanted $379 to replace the transmission fluid. The oil change shops only charge $185. This is not rocket science. Two stars only because the problem was fixed. We paid $423 to have a guy loosen a lever inside a key receiver. We're done with this shop. Update: Kevin called and left a message defending his charges. Basically they charge $180/hr for labor and his ass is covered by his fine print. Go Kevin. read more

Brought my corvette in to get the pilot bearing replaced. They were very expensive. I figured alright spend the money get the job done correct. Well that was a mistake. 7 months later the pilot bearing exploded. They tried to blame it on "Chinese parts". They did warranty the work but it didn't matter the damage was done and my vette was essentially garbage at this point. They struggled to get my car back to me and unfortunately now I have a half fixed corvette. Won't make that mistake again. If you have a corvette. Don't take it to these guys. read more

My wife and I will not be returning. Our battery light came on earlier this week and they told us we needed a new alternator which came out to a $1200 fix. We paid it and 2-3 days later the battery light came on again. My wife took it back into the shop and they said the belt was frayed and "close to snapping", it cost around $200 to fix. They also claimed they found a mouse nest in the engine (see the picture they gave us). It seems unlikely to me that mice would be able to nest in our engine since we drive this car on a daily basis. I don't understand how they could have missed these 2 things, especially the belt, while they were replacing the alternator 2 days ago. This tells me that the staff here is either incompetent or they intentionally charged us for the for the expensive fix knowing we'd be back a couple days later to pay for the smaller one. The staff has always been extremely nice. Unfortunately, I think this is to cover up that they will take advantage of people when they can. read more

Had them install an interlock device in my 2015 Denali. As soon as they installed the device the vehicle started having problems... the automatic running boards wouldn't fold down, then the truck wouldn't hold a charge. Had the truck towed to their shop numerous times only to have it stop working after I drove it once. One of the times I had it taken to their shop they call me and say the truck is fixed and to come get it. I showed up to get the truck just after they closed and it wouldn't start so I basically drove over there for nothing. When I talked to them the following day they didn't even apologize for wasting my time and making me drive over there for no reason. When I had enough of dealing with the truck not working I finally had the interlock device removed and basically spent around $2,000 on shop hours and installing and removing the device. When I went to have the device removed they told me the tech they had that had installed it no longer worked their and they had no one else to remove it so I had to take it somewhere else to have it removed. I would give a zero but it's not an option. Brought my truck in for an e brake replacement, incorrect installation. Told me I was missing a part I went down and checked it out it was incorrectly installed but had spent hours looking for the part both on the road and at the dealer but after realizing they incorrectly installed it, they argued with me and told me I was wrong except that I have two of these trucks and was able to describe what they did wrong so that it could be repaired correctly paid over the phone and asked that my keys be left in the truck so I could pick it up later that night, arrived to pick up my truck and the keys were not in it!! Had to return again (4 times for this one job) to get my keys Go elsewhere if you can I also asked the service manager of the entire organization to have the owners call me they never did read more

Went in yesterday to see if the guys could figure out why my car is leaking oil. I made the appointment with I believe his name is Andy or Randy at the front desk he is always there. The guy didn't tell me anything about a charge to have my car inspected when I made the appointment, had he have I would've waited to make the appointment because I've been so broke lately. They kept my car for more than three hours gave me a ride home in some strangers vehicle who had just dropped their car off to be worked on and then told me it would be almost $600 to have an oil cooling hose repaired. I told them I didn't have that much money laying around right now but I would get it fixed when I got my tax return money here in the near future. They then sent another one of their workers to my home in another strangers vehicle to pick me up. I would be very upset if I found out they were driving my car around to chauffeur their customers. When I picked my car up it was a quarter tank of gas lower than it was when I dropped it off. And they didn't offer to compensate me for it. They charged me $155 yesterday just to tell me where my car was leaking oil from and used a bunch of my gas. When I told the guy I think his name is Andy at the front desk that I didn't know there was gonna be a charge for the inspection his response was my guys don't work for free and I told you about the charge when you made the appointment,I'm really broke too I'm a single dad and my daughter is expensive. Now that I've had such a poor experience here I will be taking my car somewhere else to be worked on as they cannot be trusted. He did not tell me about the charge for the inspection I would've remembered something like that. Answered all my questions about future servicing needs thoroughly. My tires are low profile, and keep getting low due to pressure drops from the cold weather we've been having.
