I went in recently for a brake job- I could feel them failing. After being quoted upwards of $800 at other places, I found Mark at Brake Zone. My brakes cost just over $300. However, my GMC was in need of more repairs. It has almost 100,000 miles on it so it wasn't surprising. So, yes, I had to pay more when I left but my car is running so great now. Not only that, Mark had the mechanic save all the failing/older parts so that I was able to see what was done. I didn't feel as if I was being taken advantage of. I have recommended Brake Zone to a few people already and will be taking my other car in for general maintenance too. I took my Ford F350 in because it was having a delayed start; they played whack-a-mole trying to find the issue, and Mark (the shop owner) suggested that I had several problems, and after I agreed to pay for a new starter (that was already new) and had no need to change and once that didn't fix the problem, we went through the wiring harness, glow plug harness. My cooling fan cover ended up missing; he replaced a turbo that was already new and gave me a defective one. When I took the truck back because it was having electric issues and problems with the new turbo (all the work was supposed to be covered by the warranty), come to find out he had an apprentice diesel mechanic do the work. Mark told me to get a second opinion, and I did. He also advised he would honor the warranty and have the new mechanic do the work and reimburse me because it was out of their wheelhouse of what they are capable of doing mechanically. So I did, and when I brought the invoice, he refused to honor the warranty. This is one of the most horrible shops, and I would not recommend it to anyone. After almost $10k spent, I took it to another shop, and they fixed all the issues that Brake Zone did not, and the new mechanic did not upsell me on unnecessary work or parts. Very bad EXPERIENCE!!!! Would not recommend. They changed my front brakes and they felt very stiff and my traction control alert lights started going off mid drive. I took it back and they didn't find anything wrong with the brake job. Now a week after the brake replacement I can't even start my car due to brakes not working and I'll have to pay for a tow to a shop to fix it. read more

Can't believe we didn't know about these guys sooner. My son's car needed a rear brake job. Had to be on the weekend. I called for a quote and got one straight up immediately. No other shop would do that without seeing it first - which is a big time waster. My son's car is a simple older Mitsubishi Lancer. Not rocket science. But I'm tired of working on cars. Boss at Brake Zone said he'd try to save me some money where he could by freeing up calipers, etc. Nobody says that anymore. My experience is usually other shops just throw away stuff that could be reconditioned easily and then make you buy a new part (with a huge mark-up of course). These guys are open Saturday. So that's huge for us working folks that can't get in during the week. Anyway, there were no bad surprises and they did Make Brakes Work Great Again.... Saved me come coin and were honest. Took my car in for no tail lights and turn signals in back and asked them to check the brakes. A little over a week and over $2k later I picked my car up. Everything seemed fine at first, brakes were good and it drove fine. A couple hours later I rechecked my lights and no tail lights again. I took the car back. They replaced the combo switch. When I picked up the car the second time they complained that it was smoking and wouldn't idle so they had changed the spark plugs. The car has always needed to be warmed up properly first. I started the car to drive home and it smoked very bad and ran poor. It was not doing either when I dropped the car off. Upset, I took the car anyway. At this point I was out over $2k, my car ran worse than when I dropped it off and one of my turn signals still wasn't working. The car left me stranded in the turn lane on Andreson by Costco and I had to have it towed home. The nex day I pulled the plugs to discover they had put in the wrong spark plugs and charged me over $50. The correct replacements were less than $25 at auto zone. I had to fix the timing as well. When I called to tell them about having to tow the car, I was told I will let the owner know. That was in March, it's May and I haven't heard anything. I still have to replace my turn signal stalk. The main reason I took the car there for was never fixed. I gave them the opportunity to make it right and never heard back. They won't be getting a a second chance on my vehicles. read more

Can't say enough about the service Chris and Mark provided. I had a trailer brake fire on my way to Washington on my 2 axle bumper pull and had to pull off on exit 4. A very nice gentleman that knows Mark stopped to help me, and we ended up towing it on 1 axle to Mark's shop. This was the Sunday before labor day, when noone was open, and he still opened the gates to let me park it there. By Thursday of that week, he had replaced the wheel assemblies and axle (because the castle nut fused to the threads a new axle was needed...) He also regreased the front wheels to avoid the situation happening again because at my previous service appointment somewhere else, they did not grease it properly. I was planning to have an oil change today because it was the only day that me and my husband had a chance to do so since we are so busy working and and dealing with kids. I tried to call the phone, no answer. Then I went through their website and there was two options to book an appointment. It's either a brake inspection or an oil change. So I chose oil change for 4:30PM so I booked to it and I was hoping that this would be out of our plate as soon as possible. I went inside and saw the guy in the front and he was on the phone so I politely waited. As he hanged he did greeted me and ask if I needed assistance I said yes I booked through online for an appointment and he said he didn't see any appointment through his computer. He also said they don't do oil change after 9a to 10a (even though online they had option got afternoons) So I told him I understand then We did had a small talk and I even told him it's from a friend, and he doesn't know about cars cuz he is young so me and and my husband didn't have a clue what type of oil it is and the vehicle didn't have any owner's manual. So he offered to take a look of it. So we went out side it's was pretty warm for me and my kids and we stayed out there because I thought it was a quick look. Suddenly when he opened the hood he got a phone called and answered it I thought it was maybe a business talk so I politely waited as he is checking my oil and opened the cap of my oil tank while taking to phone then suddenly as I hear him chatting through phone it didn't sounded like a business talk anymore. Then his partner walked outside at the same time I was dealing with my kids as I watch and waited then next thing I knew he was still on the phone and walked inside with his parter and waited outside and it's pretty warm outside with my kids waiting for the mechanic. After 15 minutes or 20 minutes I decided to close my things for my oil and closed my hood and then left. I had to call my husband about it, asking if I should patiently stay and he say just leave and so I did. We were both upset and we both agreed we're not coming back ever again. Brought my vehicle in cuz I had a little wobble when applying brakes & a few days B4 I had a tire changed a few days B4 at another place, upon putting wheel bk on the tech showed me it wobbled & it was probably a tie rod,, mind u that at that time BOTH front tires were put on with in the last yr & had NO wear at all. So I told the shop all that info & left my vehicle to be looked over... Under the impression once they told me what was wrong if I didn't have them do it I'd be charged$70 but if I did & I was in recovery I'd get $80 off.. so front break pads needed to be replaced along with rotors cuz they were warped & bearings needed to be repacked. They call say it's done & even with recovery discount it's $900,, $550 in labor & test drive he tells me that on high speed on fwy it still has slight wobble & it must be bk brakes BUT little did he know I had just had Everything done there 3 months prior and when I told him that the it had to be the tie rod!! He said 1 side was real bad but would do just that 1 side for $300 more, I declined. Now 3-4 months later the outside the same tire I've had on there for over a year has wore down to wear I have to get new 1's So I buy both tie rods $50 for both $200 two new tires & get up under to put them on & it's obvious the one side was turned,, no 1 else has worked on my truck so truck still has a wobble on braking on fwy.. The owner Mark was on-hand and nice to talk to- clearly focused on client retention and beat all the other quotes (I got 4!) by a significant amount. Initially felt a little nervous about his crew as they all looked pretty rough (yes, I realize the stereotype of mechanics but these guys looked especially rough lol). However, the guys all respectfully acknowledged me when I came and went, acted professionally, and followed Mark's instructions without hesitation. I initially chose this shop because it was local. I first called and it was refreshing to hear someone straightforward without a ridiculous sales pitch. When I brought my car in, I was able to get a brake evaluation done while I waited without an appointment. I realize this can't always happen, but they exceeded expectations. As it turned out, I surprisingly didn't need brakes. The mechanic showed me where there was some maintenance that the braking system would benefit from and I had this service performed-again while I waited. I ended up being helped by 3 employees there and all were professional, knowledgeable, comprehensive, and above all: honest. That's not easy to find. took daughters car in for a simple oil change. mind you my drive way where she parks had zero oil stains. the very next day after oil change I notice a big oil spot. car now is leaking heavily. call them told them what was going on and their response was we didn't see the leak above the engine that's your oil leak. mind you again zero leaks in my drive way until that day. put card board under car and in 24 hours had a huge stain. took it back and the manager there wanted to take the car back and told me he get me in a minute, I told no I will meet you by the car. he ended up sending one of his techs out instead. techs answer to issue, car develop oil leaks boss! too bad Mark the owner is a stand up guy, fair and what I believe honest. during the oil change they called my wife to tell her there was something wrong with plug and that whoever did the oil change last screwed it up! guess who that was?? them!! never taking my cars there again! lost a long standing customer! read more

I stumbled across Brake Zone because i went to its location thinking it was a previous business (fyi: Brake Team was here and was a fraud) i had a negative interaction with. I met the owner, Mark, and i explained to him what the previous business did and he offered to fix the problem and no cost (he felt bad and wanted me to know he's all about customer service and retention). After talking to him, i got a good feeling about his business and showed him some work the dealership stated i needed for my vehicle. Mark looked it over, item by item (both on paper and physically on my vehicle) and told me what i needed and what could wait. He ended up doing the work and saved me A LOT of money while ensuring my vehicle was safe to drive (the work is also nationally warrantied). I just had THE best experience at Brake Zone! I'm from Vancouver originally but live in Seattle now. I came home for a weekend trip and needed an oil change in a short amount of time. I spoke to Mark and he went out of his way to order me a special filter and made sure they had the correct oil for my car. I was in and out in 30 minutes, but during my time I had a fantastic conversation with Mark.
