My dad took MY truck because he has had good experiences with the owner. the owner isn't there much anymore. I have MY truck in the shop now. MY truck was running perfectly fine, but it didn't have air coming into the interior of the truck. We left it there to figure it out, on Thursday THIS week to get checked out. my dad had to make a phone call to find out the diagnosis at 4pm and they said that "suddenly" the air conditioning compressor had seized up. (The original quote was $374 with the cleaning of the internal fan. Then the estimate turned out to be $733, with the Ac compressor) Consequently I AM STUCK AT HOME . My dad called at 9:30am and they hadn't even started working on it yet. And happenstancaly the mechanic had a short day on Friday. Hopefully MY truck will be ready on Monday without much more payment. read more

The manager, Dallas, flaked out on doing my brakes which I scheduled 2 weeks in advance. I went in 2 days before to confirm they were ready for me and they said we were good to go. Got there and Dallas says, "I didn't think you were coming until Friday" (the Tuesday as scheduled and confirmed). Then he said he was short staffed and couldn't do it that day. Called the next day to confirm I could bring it in Thursday. When I brought it in, HE BANNED ME FROM THE FACILITY because he didn't like MY attitude. Do not go there, at least until Dallas, the manager, has been removed. read more

They just lost a regular customer (2 household vehicles). I arrived at 6 and sat and waited for 10 minutes for the bay to free up. They were working on a car in front of me. At 610, they closed the bay doors and shooed me and another customer away because they were closed with nothing but an arm motion. I told the attendant that the least he could've done was let us know they were closed...before we sat waiting for 10 minutes. Awful customer service. Just a bunch of kids working without a clue. I sent my wife and daughter here for an oil change. $270 later they came home. They completely took advantage of them both. We will start with my wife - $115 for 8 quarts of synthetic oil and a filter. That's about $55 at Napa. $60 to do the work is pretty excessive but the part that really irritated me is that this all came as a surprise AFTER the work was done. No one ever mentioned the advertised $34.95 was going to change to $115. And that's not the bad part.... My daughters oil change turned into a $155 affair. After dinging her for an additional fee for using more than 5 quarts, they managed to sell her on a fuel filter for $70 by telling her she would make back the cost in a year via improved gas mileage. Let's start with the cost. It's an $8 part that would take an autistic monkey 10 minutes to install. A competent mechanic could do it in 5. That puts the shop rate at $360-$720 an hour. But the real slam here is the sales pitch. I've been working on cars for 30 years, built formula Ford race engines and even worked on fuel injection algorithms and programming for production cars. The idea that a fuel filter has ANY impact on fuel economy in a fuel injected engine is straight dishonest. And just icing on the cake - I replaced that filter less than a year ago.... These people took advantage of folks that didn't really know what to look for, billed them for services AFTER they were rendered without informing them the expected price was going triple. They sold them unnecessary parts at an astoundingly inflated price using a flat dishonest sales pitch. These are the sort of people that give auto mechanics a bad name. Stay away. read more

I've been getting my oil changed here on and off for a few years. It's OK. They told me this last time that my battery was dying which I believed because it was about 5 years old. A few days after the battery install, I wasn't able to start my car. After about 15-20 seconds, I got it to start. I thought maybe it was just a fluke until a few days after that, I wasn't able to start the car at all. Very upset, I called AAA. about 45 minutes later, the AAA guy comes out and inspects the connections. The battery connections were super loose. He tightened them and I was on my way but I was mad about being late for work because of the guys at this express lube not taking the time to make sure the battery connections were good. I'd recommend just getting the oil changed here. Anything else, take you vehicle somewhere else. read more

This page needs it's name updated. They go by Xpress Lube and are "sponsored", I guess, by Havoline....no Texaco anywhere now if there was before. I've been bring our cars here for years. I can't give any recent comparisons of Xpress Lube vs. their local competitors because I simply haven't gone elsewhere for oil changes in a long time. Only a couple of things irritate me about Xpress Lube. One, it seems like when they update their computers every couple of years, they lose all the history on your vehicle. That's sad, because not only do I want you to show me the condition of my air filter, it would be cool if you would tell me when you last replaced it for me. It's not a huge deal, but an irritant. Secondly, and there is no way around this, but there is a revolving door of people working there. I get it, it's not a destination job, but sometimes you find a person there who is REALLY good at the customer service part...and the explaining part, and you show up the next time to see a new face. Oh well, for the most part we've received above average customer service here, and they work quickly. There is also a car wash attached to the lube bays. You always get a free wash coopin after an oil change. Call that a $5 value! I know there are specials and coopins out there to get an oil change cheaper, and that's cool. You go there, I'll keep coming here. read more

This is partially owned by someone I am related to. I've been going there for years, but the last few visits have me disgusted and I am going elsewhere. They just tried to sell my wife a new battery for $157. She called and I told her to get out of there immediately. The battery she has now was $110 at Tire Factory, which is bad enough, and she is entitled to nearly $50 off because of the early failure (46 months from an 84 month battery). During a recent oil change, one of their techs tried to convince me that he had all the owner's manual info on his computer, and that I needed a transmission fluid change every 7,500 miles. Seriously. The real spec is 30,000 miles. When the time actually came to change the transmission fluid, they charged me $130 (with coupon). It took over 45 minutes, during which they tried to sell me a gas filter I didn't need. At first they wouldn't even tell me what filter it was they were trying to sell me, until I yelled "WHAT FILTER IS IT?" after asking twice previously. Gas filter. WTF. No, I didn't need a new gas filter, mine didn't even have the manufacturer-specified 40,000 miles on it. When I got home, I noticed the previous transmission fluid change was done at Oil Can Henry's for $30. I hate that they are taking advantage of everyone now, and I am giving up on them. I will never go there again! I went in for a simple oil change and was told that I needed to have my transmission flushed along with my rear differential fluid changed. I proceeded to move forward. One week later I had to go back because I had fluid leaking. It was because they didn't tighten the bolts properly therefore leaking differential fluid. Four weeks later I had to have a new transmission installed in my truck. Expensive lesson. read more

Couldn't quite make out the idiots name since I was in the back seat. It was either Delton or Delbert. Bald, ugly, very loud & very unprofessional to customers & his coworkers. Acts like he knows everything. Calling his coworker a little girl for the kind of sandwich he was going to eat. Everything that came out of your mouth was negative. He was making everyone in the building very uncomfortable. Dude you need to get on some meds. I'm sure your company has a 1-800 number to call so you can piss & moan to someone other than customers & your coworkers. His harassing comments towards my female friend, who was driving were very uncalled for. All she was doing was answering the other techs question. You & your loud mouth, bald head butted in where it didn't belong. Cutting down her car & everyone else's because it's not something you would drive. So thanks dude!! And an employee by the name of Josh was really rude to me and was yelling at me and getting frustrated with me because I didn't go over the hole correctly the first time... And then proceeded to tell me to leave my keys in my car very unkindly... And the whole time he acted like that... He then proceeded to inform me that my trani fluid was going bad on me (understandable) however I was trying to tell him that I might not have the money and then he very rudely walked away when I tried to proceed with I need to talk to my boyfriend first... By far one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had. I waited for almost 20 minutes at their counter before being addressed by their counter associate who found it more important to drink his coffee and shuffle papers in the background. And after an inordinate long time waiting for an oil change, I asked for the free car wash vouchers that you typically get after an oil change. The representative replied to me that they were all out and he's not the boss so he has no clue how to get anymore. I asked if I could just bring my receipt back when I bring my other truck back in for a car wash coupon and he said probably not. Then he replied, "Here's an idea how about you use that hose out back." And in a laughing manner, he stated "Is that enough spice for ya?" The other customer inside was just as appalled as I was. I was in disbelief that he thought it was okay in a customer service role to talk to someone that way. I honestly don't know how they can reconcile this manner at this point. We all know that oil change companies have a shady reputation for their nefarious business practices. This Havoline branch takes it to a new level. Here's the story.... Pulled into the service bay and confirmed with the attendant that the price for a regular oil change was $24.95. He confirmed that price. After service the bill was almost $50. When I asked how it doubled in price, I was told because the volume of oil was .4 quart above their 5-quart standard. Huh? So it was an extra $20+ dollars for less than half quart of oil? Well, no, it turns out they charged $39+ for the basic oil change, not $24.95 as confirmed when I arrived. When I explained that I previously confirmed the price at $24.95 he said, "Oh, that was a miscommunication." Right. Confirming the cost of service prior to it being rendered is so confusing. Let me NOT miscommunicate: Do NOT go to this Havoline unless you are a masochist and like getting ripped off. Telling a customer one price, then charging another, is fraudulent. Havoline shops elsewhere may be better, but you are advised NEVER to go to this one in Salmon Creek. My bad for not reading the horrible reviews this place already had before going there.... read more

First of all, the name should be updated. It's Havoline, not Texaco. Brooks, the main person who was helping me during my visit, was very nice and thorough with the assessment of my car. I had recently moved to the Vancouver area from the mid-west and one of the other employees who was working on my undercarriage asked me if I moved from the mid-west. Because my under-body was full of rust and my brake lines and exhaust were really bad. I had a suspicion because of some funny noises I've been hearing while driving around town, but I am very glad that they were honest enough (concerned, maybe?) to tell me how serious this was. Brooks also showed me the stats essentially of what maintenance Chevy recommends on my car at various mileages. He showed me a sample of my transmission fluid and said that it should've been changed at 30,000 (my car was at 57K at this point) or at 60,000 miles. In the past, most quick oil change places just said what their company recommends, and really didn't take into consideration the make, model, or year of my vehicle; or if they did, it wasn't conveyed to me in the way that I could feel confident about a decision right then and there. Brooks and the other fellows at Havoline really seemed genuine and didn't try to push any extra work on my car. I like that there's a car wash and detailing center attached to the shop, and they give you coupons for these other services (which my car needed a good wash badly from the trip across the country!). I will DEFINITELY go back there, and appreciate the exceptional, non-pushy service I received. read more

Sick to my stomach because my mom informed me that she was charged over $700 for rear brakes and new brake fluid i hope and....pay attention. ....a motor mount and a transmission mount.....your already in there why not replace both of each.....it comes down to dishonest practices.....counting on the others failing someday soon. I went there with my boyfriend and got completely ignored. I honestly have never been so completely ignored in my life. It was MY car. I was the one saying thank you. I was the one paying. The guy looked and talked only to my boyfriend. I was standing in the window to pay and he handed the receipt right to him even though he was standing off to the side. Completely sexist. And yes, enough that even the boyfriend noticed. I've lived in Vancouver most of my life and I'll definitely tell people to stay away. read more

While I was waiting I could hear the workers talking loudly using extremely profane language and telling each other dirty jokes. The first rule of oil changes involving weather stripping, If you don't need to take it off, Don't. No mistake here, someone pulled down my weather road guard and did not put it back. When I got home I had to wrestle it back up and put the bolt back in with the guard in place. I'd rather they come to my window and tell me they can't find their backside with both hands, so that I may go someplace where they do the job right. read more

Just came back from an oil change. Have been using this location as long as they have been opened, but no more. They had a very inexperienced person taking apart my engine covers looking for the air filter. I told him if he does not know what he is doing to stop. I mentioned to the manager that he should not have anyone working on cars that does not have training. He was rude and said "I know what I am doing". Although we have had some issues in the past, nothing this bad. There has been a huge turnover in personnel. Well, this is the last time they will do maintenance on my 3 cars. A lady that was in there at the same time said the same thing, she told me of another facility that I will start going to. read more

Terrible customer service at the Salmon Creek location last Saturday (June 13)! I watched 2 cars go by the opposite lane while I waited for my garage bay to finish their conversation with their buddy. When I asked how much longer it would be, they said a few more minutes which turned out to be 20 more minutes after waiting 20 minutes already ( and I was the next to go in the whole time)!!! When it was my turn, all but one mechanic went on break (their was 4 standing around before). Please tell me what was express about this experience? Took my 2007 beetle in for quick oil change 20. dollars more than dealer but I didn't have wait. Got home oil dripping in five or six places on garage floor. They said it was old oil in belly pan. Yes it stopped dripping after a week or so. Took my 2014 Subaru in two weeks later had to go out of town the next day. Wow simple oil change at 6000 miles . The next week or so I have an oil spot 6to8 inches round. Took it back to them and they say they didn't change the plug gasket that needs to be change each oil change. Now I get to clean up the mess and have a stain on my garage floor. read more

My wife and I have taken our cars to this place for years. That was until I learned that they check for places to grease (zerks) by looking in a book and not at the car. I just learned (the hard way) they have not greased our car for years because the book says there are no zerks, when in fact there were 4 on the ball joints which suspend the front wheels to the car. These joints rusted away. Those grease points are easily seen when under the car. I learned this when they had to be replaced for about $1,000.00. They not only put our lives at risk but they do not intend to change any protocols either. They say they do not train their frequent new employees to even look for differences from the "book". Being fast does not replace the responsibility they have for the job they advertise. BEWARE FOR YOUR LIFE AND SAFETY!!!! read more
