I placed an order through the Dave's Hot Chicken app at the Wake Forest, North Carolina location on Highway 98. I ordered the Trio, which included mozzarella, boneless chicken bites, and sliders. When I opened my order, I was honestly blown away to discover that the sliders had been prepared and packaged without the chicken--the primary protein and main component of the item was completely missing. This goes beyond a simple mistake with a condiment, topping, or side item. How does an order make it through the kitchen, assembly process, packaging, and final handoff without anyone noticing that the actual chicken was missing from the chicken sliders? From a customer-service and basic QA/QC standpoint, this represents a significant breakdown in the order fulfillment process. Customers ordering through the app are trusting the restaurant staff to prepare and verify their meals before they leave the kitchen, particularly because an app customer may not discover an issue until they have already returned home. There should be some level of final quality-control check to ensure that the primary components of an order are actually present. I have already contacted Dave's Hot Chicken corporate and provided both my email address and phone number requesting a callback. I believe the level of service failure associated with this experience warrants more than simply reporting a missing item through the app. Someone within management needs to understand what occurred and determine how an order containing sliders with no chicken whatsoever was allowed to leave the restaurant. I understand that mistakes happen in food service, and I am generally reasonable about an occasional incorrect or missing item. However, completely forgetting the primary ingredient in multiple chicken sliders indicates a much more fundamental breakdown in attention to detail, quality control, and customer service. I hope Dave's Hot Chicken takes this feedback seriously, addresses the issue with the Wake Forest location, and follows up with me regarding how this situation will be resolved. read more

Super cute! Staff was nice. Now...on to the chicken. We went to see if tje Carolina Reaper sauce chicken was really worth having to sign a waiver. And um, yes..yes it was! Within seconds hubby had beads of sweat popping off of his forehead. If you aren't accustomed to hot stingy foods ---DO NOT GET THE REAPER! His gut was ...and that still didn't deter him. Daughters wanted to get the X-men meal. She liked the medium level chicken. It was odd to me that I couldn't order a regular ranch sauce but had to order a large instead. Instead of getting anything related to X-men she got a normal meal with no X-men toy. The X-men meal is more expensive compared to a regular meal and I wasted money for nothing. Good Hot Chicken. The heat levels say what they mean. Hot is no-kidding burn your face off hot, I'll have to work up to "extra hot" and "reaper". The breading is crispy, the meat juicy. This location firming the holidays they give tickets for you to with extras (we didn't but you could) It is easy to get to and the wait was about 15 minutes start to finish. The loaded fries gives you the option to really taste everything they offer in one dish. You get the fries with cheese sauce and slaw the chicken has a sweet sauce (maybe honey) with the Dave sauce! I liked it but wish my fries were cooked longer so they had more crunch. The chicken tenders are very large I was shocked! My daughter and I decided to try Dave's when we were heading to pick up Cava in the next parking lot. There was a long line (only one register open) but it moved quickly. It's a really nice setup with plenty of seating. It did take some time to get our order, but it was worth it as I believe everything is made to order (not 100% sure). We ordered the Dave's bites (mild) with fries. They were definitely worth the wait, so yummy. The chicken bites were perfectly seasoned, so were the fries. I loved the Dave's sauce. The meal comes with bread and pickles to balance it all out, perfect ! I'm looking forward to going back soon. read more

I would challenge a number of the 1-stars as they were all when things were new and this place was swamped, I mean lines out the door, impossible to get because everyone was going there. Things have settled down and the staff has seem to get things in order as far as order turn around. I've not had any bad experiences with ordering since February 2025 or so. Before that it was a bit of hit or miss. But the food I got was good so I didn't care as much. I've ordered a number of times both takeout and eat in, every time has been a solid experience. They don't have a big menu but you don't need it, the slaw they put on the sliders is great and I really enjoy and haven't had a bad order from here. I haven't gone above hot, which for me is quite palatable. not into hurting myself to eat any more getting old makes that not fun, but the Hot is great flavor and have no complaints. The 'tender' designation is a bit of a misnomer, because the things are huge, so if you have a mid to small size kid getting more than a 'tender' might be too much for them. Fries are crunchy on the outside/krispy on the inside, lobby and seating area was clean the few times I eat there, they're close to my house so mostly eat take out from them. Stopped into the new(ish) Dave's Hot Chicken in Wake Forest for lunch on a recent Sunday. It's an L-shaped shop, with counter at the front, dining room to the right and back. Order at the counter, you get a pager that buzzes when your order is ready. Menu is straightforward - they have chicken! Seven spice levels to choose from- no-spice to reaper (for which there is a disclaimer). I went with mild, just to test the waters. The area where you order is tight... with 3 people in line, the line is blocking the door to come in. Seemed cramped, considering the size of the store in total. Service is relatively slow - it took 10 minutes for the food to be ready. Way long by fast-food standards. Despite having a person assigned to the dining area, it was a mess. Trash on the floor, tables in need of a wipe, empty napkin holder. The chicken is good. It's heavy on the paprika - the chicken is bright red. It's nicely crisp, not greasy. The chicken tenders are 2 to an order - a sizable portion. They're served on white bread. Mild was mild, just the slightest twinkle of heat. I think next time I'll go for medium. Baby steps. Several sides to choose from, I selected fries. Fries were crisp and nicely seasoned, albeit luke-warm. Dave's sauce is reminiscent of Zaxby's sauce - Thousand Island dressing-esque, bumped up with some extra spices. Also available are honey and ketchup. There are plenty of chicken places to choose from, and this one is definitely different. Not sure how often I'll be back... but will be. I'm sure the service time and mess are part of new store jitters and that will settle down soon enough. read more

I ordered at 6;35, as I start this review it is 7:05. It's puzzling to me that a place who only serves chicken 4 different ways takes this long to provide food. I have door dashed for this place in the past and there is always a terrible wait. It's actually so bad I declined orders from them because it would take so much of my time waiting on the food. Although I knew that, I decided to try them as a customer, hoping the wait time was just a door dashed experience. This is my first time here on my own and I can't believe the wait is exactly the same. I don't think I'll be back. No food is good enough to have to wait this long every single time in this type of setting. It's ridiculous. My total wait time ended up being 45 minutes. My order was wrong. Then my stomach got upset later. Can't say I'll be back. But this has just been my luck, as I read over other reviews, seems a good percentage of people like it so go for it. read more

First of all, the customer service is wonderful. The speediness of getting my order. It's supposed to be exactly as it is because you have to wait. So they can make it just right. There's something about the chicken that so amazingly delicious. Don't skimp out on their delicious milkshakes and frosty beverages with flavor. Whether you get the sliders, or you get the chicken tenders, you're going to want more and more every time you come here, you're going to crave it. I'd give zero stars if I could. We waited over 30 min for some overpriced chicken tenders, fries, and Mac n cheese. There was almost no flavour despite getting the "medium" spice. Please understand, this may be "hot chicken" but it could not be further away from what Nashville Hot Chicken is. I lived in East Nashville for 3 years and still visit the city multiple times a year. This place is an embarrassment to itself. Open for only a few months and the bathrooms are some of the dirtiest I've ever seen. Wholly apathetic staff. The chicken itself is garbage. Chewy, overcooked, stringy and soulless. I got the "extra hot" and it's the equivalent of a medium anywhere in the city of Nashville. Just a boatload of dry spice without any soul what so ever. From what I could tell the spice blend was also full of warming spices which throw the whole flavor off even more. Shockingly overpriced for what you get. the chicken was good, ordered medium spice did it right, and temperature was hot right out of fryer. the fries were warm at best and seasoning did not help. I ordered just after 3pm and had to wait almost 20 minutes for food. seems a bit slow for a restaurant with 3 people in kitchen 1 at counter and 4 people in the dining area. my biggest issue is waiting for 20 minute, and asking people to tip at the register, if they had table service I wouldn't mind tipping but the owner is basically asking customers to directly pay their employees. It was honestly like a high end Popeyes." -my husband I was really craving Hattie Bs but we are 9 hours away from Nashville so I decided to give Dave's Hot Chicken a try. Customer service was sub par at best. The dining room was filthy. The food was okay, but also not what I had in mind. That's obviously not the restaurants fault. If you like Popeyes you will probably love this place. Just not for us. If you are craving Nashville Hot Chicken, I guess you'll just have to drive to Nashville. New hot spot in town that is a favorite for a lot of folks who have tried Dave's Hot Chicken in other states. Expect a bit of a wait if you're walking in. For me, I ordered online and got my food in 10 minutes. I skipped the line and picked it up. This is an excellent way to treat yourself to Dave's Hot Chicken while the wait is long. Most importantly, the chicken slider I ordered was just as good as I remember it. Flavor packed a punch and hit the spot. The secret is in the bun, Dave's sauce, different levels of spice, and the pickles. It was stupidly good. Highly recommend. Dave's Hot Chicken is a welcome new addition to the WaFo chicken sandwhich options out there. And in my opinion, is supreme to those options currently out there. read more

We got there just after noon on Friday. They had just opened at 11 and the floors looked like they hadn't been swept in a week. Floor under the drink dispenser was really dirty. The napkin dispensers were all empty. Food was ok but nothing great. We won't be going back. read more

This was my first time eating there as I don't usually eat fast food but, I had Five Guys when they first open which is in the same place and it was horrible. Burger had no taste and a burger and fries with drink cost over $20.00! At Dave's Hot Chicken I got a slider with cheese, fries and a drink. The slider which is one chicken tender although I don't know haw they call it a slider as it was tremendous in size with all the trimmings. This meal cost me $15.00 which was okay for the size of chicken you get. Where they get you is the drink. Just under $4.00 for a fountain drink that cost them about .24 cents is ridiculous. They go heavy on the spices here. Like to the extent that all you taste is paprika. And there is not alot of options. Not having ranch, honey mustard, or barbecue sauce at a fried chicken restaurant is absolutley a huge missteps. Plus the food made me and my wife sick. read more

The big annoyance, similar to Raising Cane's, they had no other sauce than Dave's Sauce. People like Ranch with hot chicken. The mini sliders are perfect for that quick fix without getting too stuffed. The sauce is a nice complement to the heat and the crinkle cut fries are blast to the past from an older time. First time visiting this place. The person running the counter was helpful, only to everyone that walked in the door to pick up an order. She kept telling me to wait. She asked if it was "for Here or To Go", I said to go. when the pager went off 8 minutes later, it was prepared as "For Here". I told it was to go and she handed me a bag to put it in yet it needed to be boxed. So she gave me a box. Never offered to assist just made me do it at the counter. The food was just below adequate and I will never be returning. Much better chicken at other restaurants. The store itself lacks personality. Steel chairs on concrete floors.
