So I called almost every computer repair shop in Long Beach listed on google. For the job I needed, Dave's had the second lowest overall price if it went smoothly, and the best price by far if it didn't (same price in either case). Not to mention he was able to do it same day. He works efficiently and had a hard drive to SSD transfer done within a couple hours despite juggling a couple other jobs. Some shops I called wanted to overnight it. Very transparent. I got there and expected to see somebody and have them write down what I wanted which was to change my hard drive on my Dell Laptop from an HDD to an SSD and add an additional 8 GB of RAM for a total of 16 GB. The computer is about 3 years old but it did come with Windows Hello and Windows 10 so it is not outdated. It was just really slow compared with my Chromebook and Windows needed to be reinstalled because of all the muck that accumulated over the years. Anyway, I was very surprised when Dave came out front and invited me back to his bench where everything is neat and tidy. He gave me a great price and my computer was back to me one day after he got the parts delivered. Boy, what a difference! It's speed is now on par with the Chromebook which is instantaneous. I will not grow old watching the spinning wheel. It boots to full function in less than a minute. My advise to anybody is to check your hard drive and RAM before you purchase a new machine. A new SSD really makes a difference. I've done business with other Computer Repair places and they are like car dealers, one price just to walk in the door for an estimate that takes a day itself. Initially I wasn't going to write a review, because I didn't have my computer fixed but I felt I had to write something because I was impressed by Dave's honesty. My laptop wouldn't charge for the umpteenth time so I took it to him to have a look. I've had the same issue because and have taken my lappy to other computer repair techs, some of whom gave it some interesting diagnoses and charged me for their time and 'services'. Dave tried a few adapters in his store and simply suggested that I purchase a new adapter and see if that would work. It did. Dave also gave me some solid advice and recommendations. 1) I like this business. 2) I have used Dave TWICE now for computer repairs, and I probably have 2 or 3 more computers for him to fix (or 4 or 5 if I count my mom & dad's). 3) Someone recently left a 1-star review and the guy didn't even use Dave's services! His whole premise for the negative review was that this business named "Dave's Computers" does not SELL computers. Sorry everyone. This is a REPAIR shop, and a very good one at that. Maybe the guy is technically correct and the name "Dave's Computer Repair" would be more clear than "Dave's Computers" but FIRST AMENDMENT. Dave can use whatever name he likes. My drama of my daughter's laptop. My daughter bought a gaming laptop a while back. Big screen, fast graphics, well over $1000 from a big box store. Glitch! Took it back, out of her hands for TWO WEEKS for repair. Got it back. Then it happened again. Yikes. Guess what, it happened a THIRD time. Seemed like the preinstalled AdWare was causing lockup's and all kinds of bad things. So I went out and bought a new SSD (solid state drive, basically a hard drive with no moving parts). Took the laptop and the SSD to Dave. Asked him to remove the stock hard drive which was loaded/bloated with AdWare/MalWare/CrapWare, install the SSD, and reinstall Windows WITHOUT all the JunkWare, and that is EXACTLY what Dave did. We have not had a single problem with that laptop since then. And with the old hard drive it took 57 seconds to boot up (I timed it). But with the new SSD it boots up in 6 seconds. SIX SECONDS is completely amazing! Ok so the SSD was my contribution, but installing streamlined Windows without JunkWare is all DAVE and that's half the reason why it boots up so fast and the ENTIRE reason why we have had zero problems since then. Dave, and Dave's shop, are a little quirky. So what if his shop is a little weird, he sits in a recliner watching TV, he has a goofy-looking dog keeping him company, and maybe he is not Mr. Personality (the best Nerds aren't). Dave is smart. He does good work. His prices are fair. I have recommended him to friends and family. He has not yet let any of us down. If you have a problem with a PC, take it to Dave, you will not be disappointed with his work. read more

Dave is extremely professional and knows exactly what he's doing. I mentioned my problem to him (my computer was booting up, but my monitor wasn't receiving signal when plugged into different USB ports.) He instantly tested my video graphics cards and found that the bottom card was fried. In addition, he took my computer to the back for a full clean up! He not only pinpointed the problem quickly, but he took an extra step to get all the dust out of my computer. I wanted to optimize my performance for the single working graphics card when I got home, so I messed around with a few settings. As a result, my computer couldn't detect the operating system after I made a few changes. I ended up calling Dave and he even let me come in during his lunch break. He did a careful inspection of my laptop after opening it and gave me an estimate for part replacement and told me to replace parts or buy a new laptop.
