Ransom has been our families 'goto' PC repair guy for many years. He is SUPER knowledgeable on ALL things PC and has a rolodex in his head of all the apps, programs and tools needed to get you up and running again FAST. Also liked that he bills partial hours so repairs are always very affordable and fair! This latest issue was related to an MS Windows 10 update making my version of PowerPoint unable to PRINT! Uber frustrating, but Ransom quickly went through all the possible reasons why my printer was not printing PP files (and all this is done remotely via remote sharing of your desktop so you can see (and hear) his lightning quick mouse moves as he quickly gets to the bottom of your problem!). Mine was solved (along with correcting an unrelated connectivity issue with my printer that had been causing it to randomly 'act badly' from time to time over the years). Should have called Ransom sooner! But all is well now and my business and personal PC needs are all sunshine and goodness (for now)! A darkened hole of a place.... Really, a dreadful experience. Found them here, On Yelp. Customer service was nonexistent. Like dealing with someone in Calcutta. They were unable to retrieve any data from a failed hard drive. I was unable to recognize the obvious clues.....So, I took a new, in the box computer to them to set up, with disks for software that I run. I had an external drive with a backup..... Long story very short. I picked it up, many days after it was promised.... No software had been installed, no needed files. Every file was left, uninstalled as an icon on the desk top. Nothing worked... Nothing. It was surreal.... Like a bad dream. After spending 150.00, and reading the glowing Yelp reviews, I really expected more. Don't be stupid and hopeful.....I'm just not sure why one would consider using this business. read more

Best friend's partner spilled water on my laptop. First thing I did was leave the room so i wouldn't punch his face. Second thing I went in search of repair places. One place I called and called and even showed up and nothing. No response. So I left Tech Solutions and came to FixMyGDpc. At first I was confused. I showed up at a house? The neighborhood is great i know it well, so that wasn't a problem. But i was confused. Met Ransom that day, turned in my laptop and I figured things would get fixed quick. I told them what was wrong {{key sticking}} and they went to work. What made me happy though is that they took the time to really make sure nothing else was wrong. They called and said there might be something wrong with the motherboard, and was doing extra checks. In the back of my mind I was terrified that something would be wrong. And that it would cost an arm and a leg. Though I wasn't funding this procedure. Turns out everything is fine and that i just need a new keyboard. And almost 3 weeks later I get it. Which had NOTHING to do with them. Don't trust eBay children. If you need to buy a new part for the computer and they recommend eBay, just do your own search and see what you get. I should have. This shit would have been done 2 week sooner if that was the case. So they popped in the keyboard, quadruple checked that it would work and sent me home with my fancy looking laptop. The whole experience though.. drained my life. Not because of the fine people here, but because what happened. The person that worked on my computer was Kelly and she was super nice. She showed me a thing or two when she installed the keyboard on how to keep my laptop up to date. AND she disable Norton that kept popping up and annoying me. I was really happy with the customer service and I was really scared. A yelper below said their customer service wasn't good. I did have to call a few times but that was because I was a bit paranoid. So yes I would recommend them purely on the job done, and how sweet and nice everyone was to me. {{ Seriously, they were nice, offered me water, and chatted with me about their business }} The only downside was how long it took. Once again, eBay not this dudes. And the price. The price wasn't dirt cheap, but it's something I wouldn't mind paying. I came here because of fellow Yelpers reviews discussing how good these guys were and how inexpensive. And I left feeling like Abel after trying them twice. Sometimes I contemplate getting an Apple just so I can go to the Genius Bar: my wife has an Apple, and whenever she has to go, and I've gone with her, the answers are clear-cut while they may not be what you wanted. Therein lies the first rub: my screen was flickering and blacking out on a netbook that was nearly a year old. I had done some research online and thought it might be a hardware problem--the screen itself being bad. I told Ransom this. Ransom and crew did their hard drive cleanup (in other words, nothing with hardware), and it worked for a bit then frazzled again, same prob. I brought it back, and it was past the thirty days, so they said they'd do the same thing and charge me again--I opted out. This time I went to the manufacturer, and they replaced the screen (over the year warranty, so it was out of pocket). Voila! Netbook fixed. The only reason they get two stars is Ransom is a really nice guy. Although both he and his brother are really skinny and talk REALLY FAST, which reminds me of "Breaking Bad," if you know what I mean... Bottom line, if all I wanted was my hard drive scrubbed, maybe. After not getting a hold of anyone at Elite Computer (see other review), I was referred to Ransom by Ryan Simmons at Wardlow Station. Yes, the same Ryan Simmons as another Yelper described as "going back and forth to his truck...pot smoking". I was getting the blue-screen-o'-death and told Ranson that I tried installing more RAM, but the BIOS wasn't liking it. He told me that if I brought him my tower, it'd be $100...figured that was in market for computer repair. Dropped off my rig at his house, which is only a couple blocks from where I live. Couple days later, he told me he reset BIOS, installed a bunch of new hardware drivers, installed Office '07 (I was using '03) and installed a suite of virus software (AVG Antivirus, Spybot, EFRC, ccleaner) and backed up my system on DVD. Only thing I should've been more clear was to not uninstall WoW and a couple other applications; not a huge issue but it took about 10 hours to reinstall WoW and I had some other minor issues, but the 3GHz upgrade and tune-up make my rig run like a charm. He can also diagnose stuff via remote access...think that runs about $40. read more

Bottom line: They stole $ from me. They would not give me change owed and later ridiculed me for asking for it back! I decided to go to these guys to fix an external hard drive because they used to be only a couple blocks from my place. They seemed nice at first. They said they fixed mac products but that wasnt true. It took 3 times as long because they said they had trouble finding the right program to use. Turns out it is just defective casing and it worked without the case. I got my drive back a week later (smelling like cigarette smoke. I didnt know metal could even be infused with cigarette smoke.) So I paid $100 for them to spend a week to take the case off the drive. Ok fine. When I went to pay they charged me for a different wire I have to use because the case is gone. I had $120 with me but they had no cash there. Since they seemed nice and I live a few blocks away, I said they could drop it off to me. Well, they never dropped it off. I texted with them and Ranson (they main guy's name) told me many times that he would get me the money owed but never followed through. Completely Ridiculous! Then they stopped answering my calls and I kept texting (over the next couple months). Finally he started making fun of me because I was trying to get him to give me my change. I feel like they never intended to give me my money. You cant run a business and lie, cheat and steal and ridicule customers. Ok, ya'll got away with stealing my money. I have mixed feelings about Ransom and his crew. They did a wonderful job of ridding our laptop of a nasty virus. We didn't loose any data - thanks goodness. (Time to make regular backups!!) And they gave us some very good tips for keeping the laptop that way. They optimized the laptop and it is running faster with less hangups. The price was very good - no complaints. Much better than other quotes I got and those other guys were just going to wipe my hard-drive not restore it. But Their service leaves much room for improvement. So 5 stars for the work they did and 1 star for customer service = 3 stars. But I will use them again - hope their customer service is better. read more

I don't know where to start. Ransom is brilliant when it comes to computers. My desktop have been giving me problems. After emailing him, he responsded right away and was instructed to call his sister, Samantha (SHE is also AWESOME!) for an appointment. He worked on my computer remotely and was very patient with me. **Results** I am happy NOW with the service I received at FixMYGDpc or NMNL Tech and at a fraction of the cost that I would have paid at a brick and mortar store. **Trials and Tribulations** So, I have gone through so many emotions while thinking about writing this review. You see, this was the second place I took my computer, after the first shop basically did nothing for almost three business days. I was very hopeful that they would be the solution. And, the long and the short of it is that they were. However, it was a bumpy road getting there and much of it could certainly have been avoided. **Contributing Factors** There were a few factors that lead to my frustration: 1. It is hard to get a hold of anyone via the phone. You typically need to leave a message and they will call you back 2. The tech inputted the wrong email address for me and I didn't receive any of the ongoing updates they send all their customers on the progress of your system 3. Each time I spoke or wrote to someone within the company, they had an opportunity to "manage my expectations" accordingly and give me a realistic estimate as to when the computer would be ready. Instead, I was told each day that it would be ready later that day or the next for sure. Well, after six days, I am sure you can imagine how frustrating that can be 4. This is a home based business, and while their set-up is legit and impressive, I couldn't help but be concerned that maybe I was getting scammed when I couldn't get a hold of anyone and the days dragged on. **The Difference Maker** What ultimately made me feel good about the experience, in the end, was good old fashion customer service and interaction. This is a small operation and they are very busy with personal computers, web-based support and servicing small businesses. This is a hard working team and it can therefore seem like it is hard to get anyone's attention. What helped to reassure me is when I went to pick-up my laptop and the owner, Ransom, sat down with me and walked me through what they had done and gave me some tips for ongoing maintenance. Additionally, we hit a small snag when installing some updated drivers and he took the time to address it right then and there. This was the polar opposite of the experience I felt I had up until then. He didn't rush me and assured me that if anything else went wrong to just bring it back. **Constructive Feedback** If I can offer any constructive feedback to NMNL, I would suggest don't lose sight of the customer's need for personalized service, you certainly deliver it when a customer is face to face with you. And, remember that these days being without your computer is like being without transportation, stressful and annoying. So, six days, when I really felt I was given the impression it would be two max, can cause frustration. Look, I would rather wait longer to have it right and get a better deal and most people would be willing to do the same. But, set proper expectations upfront so you aren't setting yourself up to disappoint the customer. This is a young team trying to make their way in the world and are still learning how to run an effective business, so I don't hold that against them. I do encourage NMNL to continue to consider their customer and find ways to not lose that personal connectivity in this 21st Century World. Perhaps, much of this could have been avoided if the tech had gotten my email right and people were totally straight with me on when to expect the laptop back, a lesson learned for all involved. This certainly has the ability to consistently be a five star business with some refinement and I would fully expect them to get there. They are committed and enthusiastic about what they do, a winning combination. **Conclusion** Upon reflection, I would certainly recommend them to friends and fellow Yelpers. My computer is lighting fast now and they showed me how to keep it that way. However, if you have a very specific time horizon make sure they understand that and make sure you are ok with their service style approach. Honestly, these guys are artists, and an artist cannot be rushed and sometimes beat to their own drum. However, everyone appreciates brilliance when they see it, but not everyone is cut out to live through the process it takes to get there. Next time I have an issue, I will certainly bring my computer back, as they have demonstrated to be a trustworthy and knowledgeable crew. I pride myself on being able to take care of business. If I don't know how to fix something I will research and figure it out. I'm a Leo, that's the way shit is. This weekend my pc caught a nasty bug. No problem, I'll fix it. Got on Microsoft forums and figured it out. Next day, the bug was back and WORSE. I was infected to the max. This Leo put her head in her paws and cried. So, I went to Yelp and found Ransom at FixMyGDpc.com. I sent him an email and 45 minutes later he called me. Next thing I knew he had remotely taken over my computer. I sat watching in amazement as his arrow flew around my desktop and things started happening. Before long all the nasty bugs were gone (I am embarrassed to say how many he found), I had brand new security installed, registry cleaned, a bunch of crap I didn't need that was slowing me down had vanished and my pc was flying! He even installed Google Chrome which I love. All this for 50 bucks! Yep, you read it right, 50 bucks. And I didn't even have to lug my computer anywhere! Ransom is the man. They sent me emails letting me know the status everyday and then when I went to pick up they showed me how to upkeep my computer and things I should or shouldn't do in order to keep my computer running at its best! He logged on remotely which is definitely great on saving that trip to take it in. Highly recommend! My daughter's Dell laptop had an automatic Windows 7 update go through and after it was installed, she couldn't get past the logon/password screen--completely locked out of her computer. No way to restore with her Windows disc since she goes to Michigan State and everything is back at school. We called Ransom and in spite of being overloaded with small business customer phone systems going down from the heavy rains we've had (plus his brother had a motorcycle accident that day), he told us to bring in the laptop the next evening since we couldn't get into the laptop for him to work on it remotely. Ransom not only got into Windows and cleaned up the problem so the initial logon screen functioned again, he cleaned up the system so her computer runs faster now than when she first got it...and all this for only $75. Had we gone to Best Buy/Geek Squad, we would have had to leave the laptop for at least two or three days and I don't even want to think about how much it would have cost. We now have my daughter's laptop set up so Ransom can access it remotely even if she has the same problem, so she can get any computer problems resolved quickly and for a reasonable cost even though she'll be three time zones away. Ransom is dedicated to this craft and keeps continually abreast of developments in the computer field. He's knowledgeable in computers, phones as well as routers/modems. On my most recent call to him, he was able to upgrade my recent windows 7 configuration, fix some internet issues as well as update my internet protocol in connecting my bluray and notebook. He was also able to recommend google for better cell phone connections through the computer, recommend a good backup service and recommend last pass for keeping track of all those dang passwords you need to have nowadays. And to top it all off, he's personable to boot with that good old southern charm you don't see too much nowadays. He's able to explain things in non-computer terms to the average layperson as well so that you don't scratch your head wondering what he's saying. I've had a few computer services in my time, but he's at the top of my list and I use him whenever I need someone to work out the kinks from my computer. Oh my gosh - Ransom and his team are AHH-MAZING! Incredible customer service, very prompt, professional and sharp about this business. I found them on Yelp last year when my computer had the "Blue Screen of Death" and they totally saved the day. At that time, they also set my computer up for remote access, so if I ever needed help again, I didn't have to go in, they could access my computer with my permission, remotely. This SAVED ME yesterday! I got a virus and my computer was WIGGIN' out! My computer is my lifeline to my business, so I was freaking out! I called and emailed Ransom, and within an hour got a response, and they fit my computer in, evening working into the late hours of the night to FIX EVERYTHING! Even after the computer was fixed, they set up a debriefing consultation after wards, to ensure you're fully informed on the updates, what was wrong in the first place AND how to prevent it and monitor for future issues. DO NOT USE THIS GUY! Worst experience ever. First of all, he makes me pay upfront with cash, since his "credit card machine broke that morning." He tells me it will take 24 hours. I only took it in because it was slow, nothing major. FIVE DAYS LATER, after many unanswered phone calls, text messages and emails, he finally lets me pick it up. It's SLOWER and he's erased Office, which I now have to re-install. When I was trying to get my computer back, I left messages saying I didn't care if he fixed it, that I just needed my computer back, which he would never respond to. I even went to his house twice to try to get it back but he would never come out. When I finally had to threaten to get a lawyer he had the nerve to act like I was being unreasonable and texted me "wtf." He is the most discourteous, unprofessional person I have ever worked with. And on top of it all, after five days of being without my computer (I work from home, so this is very inconvenient), I still have to take it to another place and pay all over again. RIDICULOUS. Do not use him. By the way, this is the first negative Yelp review I have ever left. I just can't believe how I was treated. read more

Highly recommend. We've had our desktop for more than 5 years and it was definitely due for some clean up and upgrades. It shut down on us and we brought it over to their office. They were able to restore everything, clean up the hard drive to improve performance, and installed security software. Very reasonably priced compared to spending a fortune at Best Buy. James determined that the computer was not salvageable, but helped me out by transferring everything from my old hard drive to my Macbook. They are very friendly and have really fair prices. Ransom runs a great business! I can't say enough good things about Ransom and Kelly at NMNL Tech... I had one of the worst computer viruses around and after a ton of hard work they managed to remove it. It was such a lengthy and time consuming process because the virus was so bad, but they always kept in contact with me the entire time. Not only are they super smart with computers and 100% know what they are doing, they are super nice too! I'm so glad I found a computer repair business that has the capability to use remote access (I live in the valley) so I don't have to drop my computer off at Best Buy or some other complete rip off of a business so they can charge me $199 + just to diagnose the issue. And since most places sell computers they are going to try to get you to think your computer is beyond repair and that it's in your best interest to buy a brand new one!
