Life as I knew it was over. I opened my 2009 MacBook Pro one evening to find a flashing folder icon with a question mark on it. Apparently my computer was no longer recognizing my hard drive. It was failing and needed a data recovery professional, the Geniuses at Apple said. This news was catastrophic. I had priceless photos of my new baby's first few months of life that had not been backed up. I was willing to do anything to have these photos (and my sanity) restored. The Genius at the Apple store referred me to Golden State Mac. I gave them a call immediately. Even though they were closed late Saturday night, I received a call back within minutes of leaving a message. Gabriel at Golden State Mac explained what he would do to try to help and was able to pick up my computer the following day--that's right, this service comes to you! I can't say how comforting that was. My computer was going to be looked at ASAP and I didn't have to go anywhere. The next day, as promised, Gabriel drove to my home and ran a diagnostic assessment on the spot. He then took my computer back to his office to perform more intensive work and kept me in the loop the whole time. My hard drive needed to be replaced and no data was able to be recovered using software--it needed emergency surgery in a clean room. Gabriel referred me to an ethical place that could perform this more extreme type of data recovery. So helpful! Did I mention that he didn't charge me one penny for his time? The diagnosis was free, as promised. Golden State Mac even packaged my hard drive for me, saving me that extra headache. Golden State Mac Consulting really understands how precious time is for its clients. They were also able to consult me on a hard drive replacement and upgrade, upgraded me to a new hard drive at a great price--better drive and price than the Apple store offered--and installed the newest Apple operating system for me. I was just on the phone with Gabriel & he was incredibly helpful. I went to the apple store a couple days ago to get my macbook pro looked at because my keyboard was malfunctioning and a couple keys weren't working && the workers at the apple store told me that there is nothing that they can do. So found Golden State Mac Consulting on yelp and Gabriel go my serial number and phone number and called the store and made some arrangements for me and he talked to a couple people. If you have any computer issues, Gabriel is the best person/place to deal with. A week before I took the Bar exam, my computer was having track pad and battery issues. Every store I called said it would take 2-3 days to get the issue diagnosed, and another couple of days to fix. So, after reading some reviews on how prompt Gabe was, I sent him an email on a Monday. He called me that afternoon we discussed my issues and he ordered the 2 pieces needed. By Wednesday he came to my place, ran a system check and after he confirmed both items needed to be replaced, he installed the equipment. The entire process took 30 mins (Add an extra 10 mins b/c we got caught up in a discussion about The Wire). Anyway if you want affordable, prompt and reliable service for your computer needs, you absolutely should contact Gabriel...Or if you just want to avoid the inconvenience of dealing with the Apple Store! read more

Couldn't be happier. Contacted them in the morning and Gabriel responded within the hour. He came by my apartment that afternoon and took a look at my laptop that wouldn't start. He took a look and gave me his honest opinion and and I decided I didn't want to proceed with repairs (not worth it for a 4 yr old laptop). He gave me advice on how to salvage my laptop and even took the hard drive out for me so I could scrap the laptop. When I asked him what I owed him he said nothing. All in all he came to my home, spent 30 minutes with me and didn't charge me a thing. Highly recommend and would definitely use him again. read more

As a work from home employee, I'm often my own IT department and I know just enough to get myself in trouble. That's where I found myself when I contacted Gabriel at GSTC. He was quick to respond and set up a time, and the remote fix was effortless. My email account is now back up and firing on all 8 cylinders (yes, my email account has a V8). In addition to the email service, he also performed a tune-up on my Mac. It no longer lags and seems to be running. Brilliant people doing brilliant work for great prices. The Mac Pro at my studio went down and would no longer power up. After some intensely stressful days, I found Gab and Ellie at GSMC. I have been extremely pleased with the service I have obtained from Gabriel at Golden State Mac Consulting. My 2010 27" iMac was warning me that the hard drive was failing. Gabriel confirmed the situation and, the very next day after I contacted him, he arrived, replacing the hard drive with a new one and installing, at my request, more RAM. The fan proved noisy and he remotely installed a regulator. So far so good!! I'm extremely pleased. Based on my experience, I strongly recommend this enterprise. After a short time testing my machine, indeed it was a failed hard drive. Sad, but they got me up and running in no time with a new hard drive, much faster then the old. It takes an extraordinary experience to compel me to write a Yelp review, but if anybody is worth the praise, it would be Gabriel and his partner Ellie from Golden State Mac Consulting. My early 15" 2010 MacBook Pro was giving me some debilitating issues after over hundreds of dollars and multiple trips to both the Pasadena and Cerritos Apple Stores, so I decided to look for an alternative and gave Gabriel a call. I gave him a quick synopsis of my situation and he did his best to help me resolve my issue over the phone, which ultimately didn't succeed, so he went ahead and took the next available opportunity to get my machine in...which was 7:30 the next morning! Both him and Ellie showed up looking sharp in GSMC attire before I could even crack my eyes open. Fast forward a few hours later tonight and Gabriel shows back up at my place with what was basically a brand new computer. He thoroughly explained exactly what was wrong, what he fixed, and where I've been shafted by Apple previously. We chopped it up a little bit and I learned that both him and his partner have nearly a decade experience each working for Apple, and left about a year ago in order to pursue this dream. I'm hard pressed to think of a better customer service experience I've had, and am endlessly thankful for what these guys did for me. All in all, Gabriel essentially gave me a new computer in a time frame and price that were just too good to be true.
