Maybe I just had a mediocre experience but I found everything to be kinda meh, kind of on the same level as a pre-made burger and the fries were greasy/overcooked, don't remember the price being bad though at least not with the student discount I had at the time. read more

Dave's food trailer was in Mexia, Tx on Wednesday, April 17th and it was my first time stopping by for food. It came highly recommended by a co-worker. I ordered a double-meat cheeseburger with mustard, extra lettuce & diced onions, and a large order of home fries, and a coke from the sweetest lady in the world. She asked me if this was my first time eating there from the truck and I told her it was my first time trying Dave's Burgers at all. The man cooking, I assume was "Dave" said, "Well we welcome you and thanks for stopping!" She gave me a bunch of business card magnets to pass out where I work. When I got to work, I opened my bag of food at the front gate and shared some of those fries with the guy at the front gate. He was like, "OMG! Those are those good fries! Those homemade ones!" Yes! They were amazing and had a small bite of sweetness to them. I couldn't wait to taste my burger. When I got to my office, I wolfed down a few more handfuls of fries then unwrapped my burger. I was like , I couldn't believe the monster burger I had there. I know it must have been 2/3 pounds of meat on there with 2 perfectly melted slices of American cheese. My bun was perfectly toasted, the perfect amount of mustard was on there as well as my extra shredded lettuce and diced onions. The meat patties were seasoned deliciously with what tasted like a garlic, salt, & pepper blend, maybe a little onion powder too. Whatever seasonings they used made me come to realize that I had just eaten the best burger I had ever eaten in my life. It was so big it made me two meals out of it that day cause I cut it in half. Next time, I will definitely order me two orders of fries. One to eat then and one to save for later because they were the type of fries you could reheat and they'd be just as good as when I got them fresh, unlike those hard fast food matchsticks that you have to eat in 5 minutes or less. Overall, I have to thank my stomach for telling me to stop at Dave's. I go to Waco once a month for my doctor, but now I can look forward to seeing Dave's Burgers food trailer in Mexia. Thanks y'all for bringing Waco's BEST burger to our small town. I certainly appreciate y'all and look forward to seeing you both again. read more

This place is right off I-35 and is a great lunch stop. Service: The service was great! The casher made a couple jokes with my friends and I, and offered me a cup for water when I didn't order a drink. The food came out in a couple minutes. They got my order wrong, but in a good way. Instead of a triple meat burger, they made me a triple cheeseburger, so I got $1 worth of fries for free! They were very sorry for messing up for burger and offered to make me another one (even though it was like 8:40 - 20 minutes from closing time for them), but I was fine with what I got, so all's well. Food: I ordered the triple meat burger and a small fries, but after getting the triple cheeseburger, I was in a good mood eating my food. The fries were lightly salted and tasted extremely fresh and new. The buns were deliciously buttered, the meat was solid, and the vegetables/cheese complemented the meat and buns deliciously. And the food came in a plastic basket and made the food look appealing. Environment: The place was spacious enough for a good crowd. There were two TVs showing two different things (2 different basketball games while I was there). The lighting was subpar, maybe because they were close to closing. I paid $10.48 for my rather large burger and a small fries. I wish I had seen the Zipper Ripper food challenge (5 patties, 5 pieces of bacon, and a pound of fries in under 12 minutes, $20 if you don't succeed) because I definitely would have given that a shot. For the price I paid and the satisfaction of being very full, I'll most certainly come back to try the food challenge and/or get a scrumptious burger. read more

I've always enjoyed their food and today's visit I'd give the food at least 4.5 out of 5 rating. The low rating was for the poor service received by the cashier. She was rude, lazy, and didn't provide good customer service. I believe if she went to Dee's Donuts, they could teach her proper customer service. read more

Hearty burgers and hot dog options for your road trip! Stopped here on the way from Austin to Dallas for lunch. 2 burgers, onion rings and a drink will run you about $15- pricer than you'd expect but it was good food. There's a food challenge for those who dare: 5x5 + 1lb fries + large soda. Under xxx minutes (can't remember how long) and if you finish you get your photo on the hall of fame. Fail, pay $20 and be seen on the hall of shame! read more

Just be sure they read your order back. But excellent food! One of our favorite weekend stops while out and about. read more

We stopped here headed out of town for the Labor Day weekend. It was mid-afternoon so not many people there. Staff were friendly and helpful. I love me some homemade onion rings and was sad when they said theirs were frozen. I tried them anyway. They were pretty good for frozen ones. Kids devoured their burgers and fries. I recommend the sweet potato fries over the regular fries or request they cook the regular ones longer. They just weren't crispy enough for me. Kids loved the ice cream afterward and the chance to play at the park next door to run off some energy after riding in the car for a couple of hours. read more

Good food and friendly service. Really tasty burger and they can do it up any way you like it. Fries were really crispy. They come with seasoning but they can do it without the seasoning if you're not into that. read more

Great burger place with real deal onion rings. Awesome public playground kids next door while you wait. Has gourmet sodas with killer falvors like Coconut! Complete with a free MONSTER BURGER meal challenge. If you can eat the whole thing in 12 minutes. Staff super kind too. DAD spilled his sarsaparilla soda on the floor UGGH!!! The young lady cleaned it up and said no problem sir. Really nice folks working there. read more

Stopped here by chance on a road trip during lunch peak. The restaurant is small and very clean. The staff is friendly and fast. The food is AMAZING! They have unusual soda choices along with the standard options. (Dewberry, Lemonade, coconut cream) my burger was delicious but the onion rings stole the show! All the food was seasoned well. Our orders came out fast and correct. My husband said the fried chicken sandwich was juicy, perfectly seasoned and batter was definitely homemade. We should have taken pictures but we weren't expecting food this good from a burger barn. Definitely stopping here in our way back! read more

Updated review. My family was looking forward to eating here again. I ordered chicken fried steak sandwich. There was hardly anything in between the bread other than lettuce and tomato. It it cost $4, that's ok. You'd get a better burger at any fast food place, even McDonald's. We aren't going back. read more

Super convenient, food is always delicious and the staff is always friendly. Highly recommend stopping by when you're in town.

Great service and great food! I had a jalapeño cheese burger it was so good and really juicy for being a smash burger I'll be back for sure! The fries are really good too I think they might have a little sugar on them perfect amount of sweet and salty read more

3 stars. If you are in the Bellmead / Lacy Lakeview area for lunch, I suggest giving Dave's a try. If I am in the area and in a burger mood I would eat here again. This is a good burger, but there is honestly nothing that sets is apart from Dubl R, Kitox, Health Camp or Tom's. But honestly, if you put all these burgers in front of me I'm not sure I would be able to tell the difference...there just isn't anything mind blowing about any of them. I think they're all good, I enjoy going to all of them; but don't really have an outlier. Again, this is a spot you should try but if I had to choose a Waco burger at this price point it will probably be toms... because they give you a cookie. read more

Daves Burger Barn - Cheeseburger - Burgers Near Me - Waco, Texas

This place needs help bad. Two teenage Hispanic girls run this place with a lot of attitude and take your order while talking on their cell phone talking about tonight's plans. All while they have a little old lady cooking everything, which hey she might be the owner back there if she is that old lady she needs help badly. After ordering we noticed a fry n a hotdog that we order wasn't in there. Which of course the girl got rude with me saying what did I order after saying what I'm missing. Then goes to say I ddnt order a hotdog even tho I did and got charged for it but wants to charge me again for the food I payed for. I will be canceling my payments for this establishment because obviously the owner of this place doesn't give a damn about customers. read more

We were passing through Waco and googled best burgers in Waco. Dave's burger barn popped up and we tried it. Was not disappointed. We got our burgers and fries to go and sit inside waiting for our order. The staff was super friendly and very talkative with us. Hands down one of the best I have ever had. And it's homemade patties!!! Win!! read more

This review is specifically for the truck! It's my teenage son's favorite and hearing that there will be two in the future was exciting for him- he is hoping they will visit our neighborhood even more frequently. I was happy with the speed - not fast food but it didn't take forever, either. We ordered 5 burgers, all different and all were correct and delicious! Sweet potato fries are cost-acceptable and good! read more

Daves Burger Barn - Was so good forgot to snap before I started eating - Burgers Near Me - Waco, Texas

They have seasoned to perfection chicken stripes and golden tater tots. They have a laid back atmosphere. They cook your food on time and it's hot and finger licking good. They are very mannerable. They dinning area is clean and southern comfort. read more

Have eaten here a good bit over the past several years since it's right down the road from my school. Food has always been hot and delicious, never had a complaint. My favorite thing about this place is that I can get fresh cut jalapeños on my burger instead of the pickled ones they have everywhere else. read more

The food was delicious. It was cooked perfectly. The lady there was very patient with us seeing as it was our first time there. She was very respectful and kind. The place was clean with no bad smell. She made sure our order was right before we paid. She didn't miss anything and she wasn't stingy with the condiments. Definitely will be going back. read more

It was pretty good. The bun could be steamed so that it is softer, but the patty was so juicy! The chef in the back can work it. There was a rush of people that came yet the food got pushed out in good quality at a good time. I'm giving this one four stars solely because the service was confusing. I repeated an order to the girl at the register twice and she still got it wrong. I had to go back and order chili cheese fries again. This is a fun place to go with the family because it's a chill atmosphere and there is a park next door. read more

On a recent roadtrip from Dallas to Austin, we were getting hungry. My trusty Yelp app suggested I check out Daves. I was happy to see that some of my Yelp buds had given it good reviews. Score! I called ahead to order and was told it would take 20 minutes. Seriously? 20 minutes for some burgers? We arrived before our 20 minute window was up and I learned why it takes so long....they make everything nice and fresh for you. I love when places do that. I got a jalapeno cheeseburger, no bun. The hubs got a double cheeseburger and onion rings. The nugget got a plain ol cheeseburger. Everything was delicious and we ate it right up. YUM! read more

Daves Burger Barn - They've got the Blue Bell - Burgers Near Me - Waco, Texas

Good old-fashioned burger joint. Great place to stop while in Waco. Fast service, great food! Will be back when we're in the area.

The first visit was a disappointment. Will not return. A bit pricey for what I ordered. Love great onion rings. Dave's onions ring not so great. The onion ring basket, not many onion rings. A tried a single hamburger. Nothing special. A $9.95 experience. Will continue to use yelp and look for a good burger and rings. Save your money here. read more

The prices have skyrocketed and the service has plummeted. I hope that they can survive.

Where do I even begin to start? Had my first Dave's burger last month and I have gone once a week ever since! *TIP: Tuesday's are college discount days! Bring your college student ID and get 10% off* The owners and staff are very pleasant and friendly. We were told that they have plans on expanding their current location and opening up a second one near Baylor campus and even showed us the blue prints! They are heavy on making everything fresh, the meat is ground each morning, vegetables and tomatoes are sliced and potatoes for the fries and chips precut each day. I ordered a cheeseburger with homemade potato chips and it came out piping hot. The cheese was perfectly melted and the bun perfectly toasted. Homemade potato chips are not an easy tasks to perfect but Dave's has got it right on the money! Yummy, perfect crunch! My boyfriend ordered the *drumroll* Zipper Ripper challenge! What is the Zipper Ripper? It consists of 5 beef patties, 5 slices of bacon, 5 slices of cheese, all the fixings of vegetables artfully constructed between 2 buns followed by a pound of fries and a soft drink. You are given 12 minutes to eat it and if you can finish it before the time is yup, they take your picture and put it on the wall of fame. Not only that, your meal is comped ($16.99 if you do not finish) and you get a free tshirt. Not a bad deal huh? My boyfriend somehow finished just in the nick of time and the staff said that no one had completed the Zipper Ripper for a couple of months and they really did not expect him to finish since he's not that big of a guy. The experience at Dave's is wonderful and would definitely recommend dropping by if you are driving I-35 in Waco. Tip #2: You can also order ahead of time and they will have it made and ready for you to chow down by the time you get there. read more

Daves Burger Barn - Most recent Zipper Ripper Winner after a few months dry spell of no winners - Burgers Near Me - Waco, Texas

Just a good ole fashioned cheeseburger joint with "wing street" style fries. May need a power nap after this, but worth the pain.

Place is gas, good burgers and they even got rainbow ice cream. Would highly recommend.

Stopped here on the way home from South Texas and was not disappointed. Really good home style burger. The slightly greasy, juicy kind that hits the spot. There was five of us with four eating burger baskets and one having the chili dog basket. The chili dog was good too per the member of our party that ate it. It looked delicious for sure. They have homemade potato chips, fries and onion rings. The chips and fries had a great seasoning on them. The onion rings were nothing special but good. To finish off our meal, we all had Blue Bell ice cream which is delish regardless who serves it. Will definitely stop again if we get the chance. read more

I'm in town for the holiday and wanted to grab a burger from a local place. As usual I turned to yelp for help and was not led wrong. The home style fries were salted well, fresh and not greasy. Very good. I got a cheeseburger and it was excellent. The meat was flavorful with no gristle. I got my order to go and it came out in a few minutes. The inside of Dave's was really clean. A double thumbs up all the way around. read more

I am not going back. I was expecting a price increase, but this place is ridiculous. $7.50 dollar cheeseburger which isn't bad but $1 to add jalapenos $3 fries, $3 drink, .50 debit card fee, $1.50 tax makes for a $15 hamburger lunch. I just can't justify it. Cheeseburger was good, fries were soggy with some type of crunch enhancer on them that to me seemed salty. Just wasn't impressed. read more

This place is a great for a burger and easy direct access from I-35 on the south boundside. It's maybe 1.5 miles or less I-35. My supervisor and I were on our way back home to Austin from Dallas. Needless to say we left at the wrong time. We hit traffic getting out of Dallas and on the way down we managed to hit all the construction traffic. For me all I could do was think about food on the way back home. Hey I have a tapeworm that likes to eat. Anyways I told my boss to Yelp dinner and no franchise stuff since i was driving. He found this great restaurant! The location is right next to a park with a field and a playground. Definitely a bonus if you have kids and on a road trip. When I walked in they had plenty of seating available. The wait was not long at all. I think we spent less than 25 minutes here. Hey we are veterans so we know how to eat fast while on the go. Anyways our food I want to say took about 10 minutes or less. It was fresh! We got the double meat with bacon, cheese, and everything else on it. I ordered the seasoned fries. They didn't look seasoned when I got them but they definitely tasted like they were! Staff was very friendly and helpful when I asked about their free wifi access. They gave me their guest password and offered to help me if I needed any assistance. So a plus in my book for even keeping your guest password secure and not wide open to the public. The facility overall is very clean and so were their bath rooms! Oh and they have the hall of fame and shame wall for their famous Zipper burger special! Triple patty with everything on it and a pound of fries but you have to eat it all less 12 minutes! I am going to here on an empty stomach and try it out! read more
