We were greeted as soon as we walked in and directed to choose a table of our preference. The waitress quickly came over and grabbed our drink order while we looked at the menu. We placed our order and the waitress was very knowledgeable and able to answer our questions. She also informed us they work as a team so we can stop anyone when/if we need something. We started with the "Burning Bush" appetizer (crispy Brussel sprouts w/ lemon garlic aioli). YUM! They had just the right bite to them, and the glaze on them paired with the aioli was delicious! For our entrees we had the Golden Calf Burger w/ sweet potato fries and sriracha aioli and The Weight of Glory Sandwich w/ broccoli slaw. They were both incredibly flavorful and fresh! You can tell they locally source their ingredients and prepare them onsite. The portions are also plentiful, and we left with a takeout box. To round off lunch we tried the special mousse on the specials board (coffee flavored cheesecake mousse). It was so delightful we dug in before I could snap a pic. Just enough coffee flavor paired with chocolate sauce (not hersheys ). The big windows allow for a lot of natural light and lends to a welcoming and warm environment. I responded very politely, "Well, good evening to you too," hoping to lighten the moment. My sister then told him he was being rude. As Tommy walked toward the counter area, he mumbled clearly enough for several of my family members to hear "Well, you can always go somewhere else." My sister, who is a high school coach, immediately said, "You know what, we'll do just that." As our family members walked out. I stayed behind to ask Tommy why he would say something like that. He denied it, even though my sister, my eight‑year‑old son, and my daughter all heard him. They repeated his words at the same time. I told him we came based on a recommendation from friends of the owners, and that this was ? extremely disappointing. I also at the time, was trying to reach out to those people, and then decided "Why should I. they recommended the food, not Tommy! Once we exited and stepped, we saw Tommy on the phone. I'm sure this was too obviously speak with someone in charge to cover his lie! Hopefully someone will all view the video footage of this evening. If you can't hear his words, you can certainly make out the eye movement in the sarcasm in his face that definitely lets you know what he mumbled because he's very theatrical, so I'm sure at least that shows. We never even got to taste Jake's Burgers because of the disrespectful way we were greeted. We went next door to Fuego's and had a much better experience. Tommy, your behavior was out of line, rude, and very disappointing. you had no rhyme reason or right to make that type of statement to my family. Perhaps customer service is not your field. Tommy, perhaps you need a less stressful atmosphere, especially when there are only 2 occupied tables are in the establishment. One already eating and the other awaiting their food.

What a delicious surprise. While in Waco, my wife and I accidently found Christie's after shopping at Sam's. The burgers are old fashion with toasted buns, real meat taste and the garden/condiments accent the overall flavor perfectly. I don't know why more places don't copy the way they make their chili cheese dogs (Frisco style). My wife is a Der Wienerschnitzel connoisseur and says the Frisco taste like DW chili cheese dog. The prices are unreal. I got a triple meat cheeseburger, a double meat cheese burger, a Frisco and tots for less than $18. The staff was really fast and friendly. I even enjoy the quaint old style burger shop dining area. We're going back today to take the G-Kids after we go to the Zoo. read more

My family and I absolutely love Christi's Burgers. We order from there about once a week. They are super friendly and every time my wife and and I walk in they make sure to say hi to me by name; no matter how busy they are. The burgers are amazing especially if you love the old style burgers. If you want Frisco on your fries or tots make sure you get there early because otherwise they run out. read more

Just a little history, My dad went to TSTI in waco in the 70s. Alittle while ago he told me about this burger place he used to go to. "They slap the meat on a marble slab and than scoop it on the grill." I now live in Houston so when we went to waco we stopped by. Let me tell you what a good burger is like. CHRISTI'S! 5 stars isn't enough to describe how great Christi's is. Not only are the burgers AMAZING with just the right amount of crunch on that toasted bun surrounding an old fashion burger, but the service provided by outstanding staff and owner is hands down the BEST. This is a family owned business so if your looking for a GREAT homemade burger you have found it at CHRISTIE'S BURGERS, everything they serve is served with love and you will ENJOY every bite. Their house sauce is AWESOME--just the right amount of spice and flavor. My biggest complaint: they put the sauce on the bottom of the burger. That's a big no-no for me! Sauce belongs on top. You want that spicy kick hitting the roof of your mouth first and then working its way down through the burger. It sounds like a small thing, but it makes a difference! Burger: 7.5/10 The fries were average. Nothing wrong with them, but nothing particularly memorable either. Fries: 5/10 The vanilla shake was exactly what a classic vanilla shake should be. Nothing fancy, just cold, creamy, and delicious. What more could you ask for? Shake: 8.5/10 The two ladies working the register were incredibly friendly. 10/10 for the staff. My only gripe with the checkout experience is being asked for a tip at a counter-service restaurant where you refill your own drinks and throw away your own trash. I'm just not a fan of that trend. Overall, I really like Health Camp. Simple burgers, simple shakes, an old-school atmosphere, and a place that's been doing this for generations. A few months ago, they started this strange practice of serving partial orders. If you have a family of four, they'll call your number when one or two meals are ready, and then you wait another 7-10 minutes for the rest of the order. By the time everyone has their food, half the family has either finished eating or their food is getting cold. TOTALLY CRAZY!!!!!! Today was much worse than just the separated orders. The burgers came out hot but were BURNT to a crisp. The onion rings were burnt as well, while the tots and fries were embarrassingly undercooked. They were barely warm, and a couple actually had that still-frozen bite in the middle. The service didn't help. The kid taking orders and handling the phone looked like he had just rolled out of bed. When I asked the girl working the shakes about the second half of our order, she was zero help. Instead of trying to find out what was going on, she literally took a big step sideways and disappeared behind the shake machines. What makes this so disappointing is that Health Camp has always been one of those Waco places we could depend on. It can be hard to find somewhere open on Sundays, and we always knew Health Camp would be a reliable choice. Unfortunately, after today--and with the partial-order issue becoming a regular thing--that confidence is gone. I really hope management gets this figured out, because this was absolutely NOT the Health Camp we've known and enjoyed for years.

It seems that Black Bear is going through that inevitable drop in quality that comes with an inability to sustain continuity in their kitchen and wait staff. Hopefully they will work through this problem and return to the quality we are have come to expect over the last year.
