We saw this little hole in the wall on one of our many trips up and down I35 but hadn't stopped til Today. Cupps is a small restaurant located Just off the access road a block. We enjoy experiencing the Mom and Pop Businesses along our travels. We popped in to fine about 5 booths and a long lunch counter with a row of stools so you can watch the action at the grill. While it wasn't much to look at, the staff was friendly, tables were clean and their bacon cheeseburger and fresh cuts fries were some of the best I can recall ever having. I was a little apprehensive because of the looks of the place, but was splendidly surprised when I got my food. Burger was moist, fresh vegetables inside, fries homemade. Everything is cooked in the open where you can see it. I'm so glad we came by. I definitely would come again. Oh, and the service was friendly. That's always a plus. My husband and I came in at 2:47 PM on a Saturday and we didn't feel rushed or anything given the fact that they closed at 3 that day. They only had 6 more buns left for the day so we got lucky!! This is my second visit. The first was for lunch. They have good burgers, fries. We came this morning for breakfast. I had eggs, hash browns, bacon & toast. It was a really good breakfast at a good price. Drinks are served from a can with a cup of ice. They were short handed today and it was a little bit of a wait. Everything tasted amazing. Meat tasted like real beef(which is questionable at some other establishments that claim 100% real beef) cheese was melted and gooey, veggies were fresh. I don't write many reviews. Only when I really have a great experience. I pulled into Cupp's on my way to Plano from Austin. I am 63 and really have a hankering for old time burgers. Cupp's is the place that takes you back to the era of the burger. Before the big chains. Before the boutique burgers that are so fat/thick you can't stretch your mouth big enough to eat them. Just simple fresh ingredients, a nice patty of meat, and soft grilled bun. I went back to my childhood when I took that first bite. What a nice moment. These types of places are hard to find but when you find one you hope and pray will never disappear. GREAT chili cheese burger!! That's all i got this trip but i will be stopping many more times as i make the drive from Plano to Austin every week. Can't wait till next week!!! read more
