Crab Hushpuppies
Devon K.

Dauphine's was a wonderful choice for restaurant week. The restaurant is gorgeous and on Sundays they have a live jazz band performing. I had the crab hush puppies, the catfish with grits, and the beignets. The hush puppies were my favorite. Service was speedy and all of our food came out quickly despite being a large group. The beignets were my least favorite item and tasted like old oil was used to fry them, so I wouldn't order those again. Our waiter seemed a little miffed not too many people ordered cocktails/we were doing restaurant week, but other than that service was good. They do have a 4% operational fee which they mention while making a reservation so just be aware. I'd go back for restaurant week or happy hour but their prices and fees are too much for the regular dinner menu.

Went for Saturday brunch and still thinking about the experience and food here in Monday. Unfortunately I live in TX and we do to have this gem here locally. I will be back as our waiter was very attentive and knew so much about the menu. The restaurant felt modern with a Louisiana feel. Very clean and a bright environment. Food was amazing and the pictures do not do this any justice that I will post.

Very nice brunch atmosphere. The live band playing miles Davis is a nice touch as well. The beignets are not as good as the real ones from New Orleans, but they were a nice sweet way to end my brunch. The fish on grits were pretty tasty as well. It seemed packed but there wasn't a long wait for seating for actually getting my order.

Enjoyed a spectacular dinner at Dauphine's, highlighted by barbecue shrimp and barbecue quail eggs for appetizers, and grilled tuna au poivre for the entrée. Service was outstanding. The wine list is extensive. Dauphine's offers a gluten-free menu and staff took great care to handle a food allergy. The atmosphere is chic, making it one of our favorite restaurants in the Sixteenth Street Historic District.

A dozen of half shell oysters

What a hidden gem. I never heard of Dauphine's until one of my friends recommended it. I was really pleased by the experience. The service was great. I met some friends at the bar and the hostess took me right to them when I walked in. When I reached the bar the bartender immediately greeted me and gave me a menu. He gave me some suggestions for drinks and food. He was extremely personable, attentive and friendly. I ordered the Negroni and a dozen of the half shell oysters. The Negroni was very strong but refreshing. The oysters were delicious. They gave me all the fixings such as horseradish, hot sauce, cocktail sauce, and vinegar. They tasted amazing. The ambiance was very upscale. It was very crowded but all of the staff were attentive and well trained. They have two levels and also a patio for guests, the bar was rather long and offered a lot of seating. Overall, it was a great experience. I will be back soon. Cheers!

Steak Frites with egg fried hard

I chose this place to enjoy brunch for restaurant week and I'm so happy I did. I went to sit at the bar and was warmly greeted by Roman, one of the bartenders. I ordered the Aged French 75 which was very refreshing but kind of small especially for the price. But then again, it's DC LOL. I ordered the crab hushpuppies, steak frites, and beignets from the restaurant week menu. Everything came out hot and delicious! The crab hushpuppies were the star of the show! The corn side that they were served on was soooooo delicious!! I could put that sauce on everything if I could. The steak was kind of burnt on the outside but still was tasty. I really enjoyed my meal and would definitely come back next time I'm in DC.

Rhubarb quail egg salad

We had a great time overall- I had heard mixed reviews so was a little hesitant but the food was really good! The bread service was truly exceptional- everything was so buttery and amazing. The roasted rabbit was great, my husband got the tuna steak and enjoyed that a lot, the pepper sauce on it really brought it home. It was a birthday so they brought out the bread pudding, which was nice of them. The bread pudding itself was dense as a brick but the ice cream and the caramel were very good. It's a little informal for such a special occasion (a little loud, a little bright) and had more of a 'after work happy hour' vibe which didn't really match with the food and the price point. But overall good!

Went for family dinner. Cute spot with a French based menu. The food was 3.5 stars for me and the star of the show was definitely the dessert. Service was friendly but the dishes took awhile to come out to the point that we considered canceling a few items. We had oysters, bread service, fried boudin balls, and crispy fried artichoke to start. The sweet potato brioche was *chef kiss*. For mains we ordered the smoked sirloin, and 2 other dishes that I can't remember but we devoured, and a side of the collard greens. The beignets and the gelato/ice cream trio were the stars of the show but they did take a goooood minute to come out due to a "large party ordering 40+ beignets". Overall a good meal with decent service.

Service - freakin amazing Ambience - dark dimmer light setting - not a fan cause it makes me drowsy but it sets the date mood Food - phenomenal Got a second plate of oyster pasta cuz it was that freaking good!!!! And even asked for the recipe! Soooo good!

The Bread Basket, delicious!!

This place has very nice atmosphere. I ordered shrimp cocktail, greens and red beans/ rice. In my honest opinion the sides were okay. The greens had s vinegar flavor to them and taste a little bitter. The red beans were a little firm than I like. They were mild in flavor. If you looking for more spice you won't find it with these dish. The atmosphere and Ambiance are worth visiting this place. The chicken and rice are very good. The service was good as well.

Chicken and biscuits Delicious very filling !

Really good chicken and biscuits for restaurant week. The steak was very very salty in comparison. I wouldn't recommend that over the other choices.

Fried boudin balls

The service was great, the staff were very attentive and we didn't have to go out of our way to request anything from our server. The food was very delicious. I really enjoyed the oysters but I feel like you can't go wrong with anything on the menu.

Pig ear salad - I'd skip this one
Christina O.

Sunday 11-3pm live jazz - make reservation for main dining. You won't regret it. Ambiance - high ceilings and New Orleans feel. Upscale as it is a Michelin guide restaurant. Service was very attentive. Freaking loved the jazz. Brunch - Creole inspired cuisine with amazing cocktails. Came for brunch, loved the raw oysters - so fresh and has three levels of salinity. Bread basket - delish, banana bread was the best I've ever had and I'm not a huge fan of banana bread. The other biscuits were nice, the pimento cheese scone was really good too. Chicken and waffles were delicious with a perfect mix of spicy, sweet, and savory. Very crunchy on the outside without compromising the moistness of the chicken. The pig ear salad was just okay.

The place was pretty packed with everything from business to a bridal shower party. I really enjoyed how simple and inviting the place was for conversation. Being with other co-workers, I didn't want that place that I was screaming over everyone to have a conversation. More importantly, it wasn't that 20 year old vibe of being 4 deep at a bar begging for a drink. It was an elevated crowd that wanted a drink after work or a place to decompress. Oddly enough, there was even a guy there who whipped his laptop out to work while drinking and eat at the bar. Kinda different but hey, to each their own. Overall, this was a total win for me as it was still a weekday and exactly what I was looking for. Service at the bar was spot on and overall a secret win that Yelp help guide me towards. It's a basement bar with a bit of a dive vibe, but it's hard to ignore the nautical, blue crab theme throughout. They have a happy hour and they have a great variety of drinks in general. It's bring-your-own-food (BYOF) and there are a bunch of delicious looking Asian spots nearby, including upstairs. The food at this location was great. The red snapper with the rice and tomatoes was very flavorful. The red snapper could have been cooked a little harder. However, other than that it was great. However, the experience started on a rough note. When checking in at the Marriott, the front desk agent was quite rude and incorrectly insisted the restaurant was already closed. The African American guy behind the counter definitely needs some etiquette lessons or at least needs to be trained if he is supposed to be the face of Marriott Capitol Hill. Fortunately, we went up to the rooftop anyway. They seemed short-staffed, but the bartender stepped in to serve us and was absolutely wonderful. Lighting could be better, IMO it's a little too dark for my liking. The food was also a bit hit-or-miss. The sweet chili shrimp appetizer was fabulous, hot, and featured a great portion size. For the entree, I had the Trout a lo Macho. The presentation was beautiful and it arrived piping hot, but unfortunately, the mussels were not cleaned properly and still had dirt in them. For the price, the food could have been a bit more polished, though the portions were appropriate. Pros: Great rooftop views, excellent bartender service, and reasonable on-site parking ($8/hr or $12 for 2 hours, which is great for DC).
