insanely delicious meal from start to finish. i absolutely loved the vibe of this place. it's a large space and they've used it to full effect, fitting so much in nooks and crannies without it feeling tight. the service was perfect, and the place seemed to encourage warmth - i chatted with people at the tables on both sides of me! a lovely couple to my left recommended the fried artichokes as an appetizer, which i split with my friend. they were so good, crispy and flavorful. for a main, i got the baked stuffed shells, which were french onion flavored with soft caramelized onions and lots of gruyère. i bodied this dish lol, i practically licked the plate clean. for dessert, i got the gianduja semifreddo and my friend and i also split the bananas foster baked alaska. i got a chicory espresso martini to go with it too. the drink was strong but didn't taste like it - one of the best espresso martinis i've had, and paired so well with the semifreddo, which was otherworldly. the baked alaska was also excellent - the combination of the cinnamon and bananas was phenomenal. one of the best dining experiences i've had in a while - it so deserves its bib gourmand! read more

The food here can be either hit or miss... I usually come on Sundays where they have the all day happy hour. The service also depends on the day... The first time I came here a woman told us that we couldn't sit at the bar, but later on then said we can. The ambience is very nice, especially on Sundays when they have the live jazz music. When I did come the second time, it was a bit salty but nevertheless, it is a little bit of New Orleans in DC read more

Me and my girlfriends went here today (1/11/2026) for brunch at 12:45pm - we were seated pretty immediately as we had a reservation. During Sunday brunch, there is a jazz band playing which is a nice addition to this already aesthetically pleasing restaurant; definitely a cute spot! We were promptly greeted by a friendly bartender upon being sat, he gave us water and told us our server would be with us shortly. Unfortunately, this was the beginning of the challenges of our time at this restaurant, our server did not come shortly and we ultimately had to flag someone down to get help, and that person helped track down our server. We were having trouble deciding what to order, so we asked our server for the most popular items/his recommendations, he proceeded to list off most of the items on the menu which didn't help us narrow down what we wanted to order. I decided to start with the crab and artichoke dip while we continued to peruse the menu and decide what we wanted for our entrees - I thought the crab and artichoke was yummy. Unfortunately, our server took forever to reappear, so we ended up flagging someone down (again) and we ordered our food from them. I ended up getting the Blackened Catfish Creole and both of my friends got the shrimp & sausage gumbo. My food was just okay sadly, it lacked flavor, however the catfish was cooked perfectly. Both of my friends said the gumbo was "weird" and not what they expected. FYI, our server did not check on us throughout us eating our meals, we got a dessert menu (from someone other than our server as he just wasn't around) and I got beignets and my friend got pineapple upside down cake. Ugh, I hate to report this, but the beignets were not great, they were too bread-y and my friend didn't care for her dessert either. Overall, this restaurant was an unfortunate let down, it's really nice visually, but the food and service do not match the vibes. read more

Came to Dauphine's for restaurant week brunch and had an awesome time! The place has two beautiful patios and is quite spacious. We sat inside and were delighted to find their was live music. Every though we were at the table right next to the music, it wasn't took loud and we didn't have to shout which was appreciated. Our waiter was awesome. Really nice personable guy! I had the spritz to start -- perfect brunch drink, light and refreshing. For my starter I went for the crab hush puppies which absolutely slapped they were incredible! For my main I had the egg cheese and pork sandwich on sweet potatoes brioche and a sweet potato hash -- hard to go wrong with a classic breakfast sandwich. Super filling and the bread was great with the fluffiest egg I've ever seen on a sandwhich. The hash was also really yummy! Finished with bread pudding which was great but the best dessert on the menu is the peanut butter one! Its like a PB&J! Had a bite of my friend's and was blown away. Ended with a coffee that was super tasty. Will definitely come back and will definitely sit on the patio! read more

It's a beautiful ambiance, friendly staff and we were seated quickly. They had kids crayons (and they were hexagon shaped so they don't roll of the table - my favorite touch at the restaurant!). Bathrooms clean. The highlight of the food was the bread service! We ordered one to go bc we enjoyed it the most. We also got beignets to go and they were just okay. The rest of the food was lacking. We ordered the striped bass with curry and the grilled ribeye. The fish was fine but my husband felt pretty sick later from the curry most likely. And said they curry flavor was pretty bad as someone who knows and enjoys various curry's. The steak (I ordered well done bc I am pregnant) was super salty and the salsa on the side was very oily, and the corn side dish with peppers was very sour like very pickled (just so you know what the flavors are like, if this is a New Orleans thing maybe others enjoy that). It was honestly hard to finish the steak but we did just bc we were starving. It was so salty I had to pass some to my husband (and I'm someone who likes salty food). Server was very friendly and apologetic on the steak and said it's not usually that salty. So maybe it's all fine just be aware if you have a sensitive tummy skip the fish curry and if you find the steak to be too salty send it back in the beginning and don't eat it all like I did ;) read more

Celebrated a friends bday at Dauphine's during restaurant week. This restaurant is huge with lots of seating including bar style table seating. They have a nice outdoor bar and indoor seating. They specializes in seafood and have a great selection of oysters. I have the smoked chicken gumbo with potato salad for my appetizer, Swordfish for my entree and beignet for dessert. Server is also great though they were really busy but he was funny and helpful. read more

We went here for happy hour on a Saturday. We ordered the sparkling wine and oyster po boy sliders, liver mousse and fried boudin balls. We also ordered beignets. Everything was delicious. Service was wonderful. Our server was Christian in the beginning and Declsn took over. The manager kept asking us what we wanted to order, which was sweet. I guess he didn't want us to wait. I was super hungry! The ambience is wonderful. I felt like I was in New Orleans. read more

My best friend wanted to get together for happy hour and recommended Dauphines and I'm so glad that he did. To know me is to know that New Orleans is one of my favorite cities in the country and Dauphine's offers a little taste of New Orleans right in D.C. We sat at the outside bar for happy hour which started out empty but within 20 minutes of us being there ended up being packed. For the evening we enjoyed the Local Oysters on the Half Shell with classic accompaniments (lemon wedges, mignonette and cocktail sauce) allowing the oysters to shine. The Crab & Artichoke dip was delicious and served with a house made cheddar cracker that honestly I could eat by themselves. The Creole Shrimp Cocktail were served with a yummy remoulade dipping sauce and I can't forget about the old fashion's that were probably some of the best that we have had a a long time an added bonus is they were on the happy hour menu so we indulged in a few lol. All in all I had a wonderful time at Dauphine's from service to the drinks and food. I will most definitely be back to try out some of their other menu items. read more

Made me feel like I was back in NOLA! Love the interior design, definitely have the aesthetic down. Excellent cocktails with a wide variety to choose from - we weren't disappointed in anything we tried. Boudin and the fish dip were delicious - accompanied with some homemade(I think?) saltines. Phenomenal bites. Bread service was top notch, biscuits with the jam and butter could of easily been dessert. Really nice bread basket. Oysters were prepped well, no complaints. The duck jambalaya was the weakest dish we had, definitely not bad - but not great. Breast was a bit chewy when it should of been the highlight. Would of been better without the duck and just more sausage and kraut! Beignets with decaf cafe au lait reminded me of being at du Monde after a long night of good times. Not as good, of course, but good enough! read more

We came here on a Thursday evening during restaurant week and it was packed so I definitely recommend making a reservation far ahead of time. There were lots of great options for restaurant week meals- our favorites were the bacon wrapped pork loin, the catfish, the ube cheesecake, and the lobster fritters. The braised beef shank and the chicken gumbo were just ok and we weren't fans of the sauce on the mussels. The service was also not the best- there were 6 of us and they consistently brought out 5 dishes at a time and then we would have to wait for 5-10 mins before they would bring out the 6th person's dish with every single course. read more

Brunch Bread Basket Biscuits were soft and perfectly golden brown. Banana bread had a nice banana presence. I liked the touch of sugar topping giving it a pleasant crunch. The andouille sausage and cheddar scone was excellent. The only downside is the amount given does not leave enough for a table, unless you share small slices. Fried chicken & waffle They were out of it, unfortunately the party I was with decide to go near the end of brunch, so I missed it. It looked amazing. Heirloom Grits Thick, and creamy. Presentation was nice with the shredded cheese and diced green onions on top. #CynBitesFeedMySoulStatusConferred #ThisFeedsMySoul Beef & Sweet potato hash Chimichurri sauce with a nice accent. I Cynivised by adding hollandaise sauce, which the tang from the hollandaise kicked it up a notch. Plenty of steak and potatoes giving equal amounts in each bite. Perfectly poached egg on top. Well executed in flavors and presentation. Service Quality servers, that were attentive and friendly. Very welcoming place, highly recommend. Ambiance Cute decor. The jazz band was excellent! Really had the New Orleans vibe nailed to the T. read more

I want to preface this review stating that Dauphines has a Michelin star and this review is based off the expectation of service and food equivalent to such. I went to Dauphines with a group for brunch. We were a party of 8. The restaurant itself is very aesthetic with beautiful plants and tasteful decor. It sets a very nice ambiance. When we ordered our drinks, two members of our party ordered teas. They asked for the status of the tea 3 times before the tea was brought with the main course well after the rest of us were served our starters and drinks. The tea was just a cup of hot water with a teabag served on the side so i am not sure why it took 30+ minutes. We got the bread as an appetizer and it was amazing. So delicious I would definitely recommend. Everyone's food was delicious. The manager was very attentive and I appreciate his coming by. We had little issue with the check. The menu says it's automatically included in the check for parties greater than 6 which we were, but then it wasn't. We ended up asking the waitress who confirmed that it was not in fact automatically included. Overall I would recommend this place for a cute brunch. read more

Came for a special brunch and we had a lovely time. Our 11 yo son really enjoyed the food and it wasn't so stuffy that he felt out of place. It's a fancy spot without being fussy. The ambiance is lovely and it's in a great spot for a stroll past the White House when you're done. read more

Excellent experience at Dauphine's! I stopped by here for a quick dinner during their happy hour while in the area. I was quickly seated at the bar upon arrival and greeted by friendly bartenders. I ended up ordering the burger and crab and artichoke dip and a Diet Coke. The crackers that came with the dip were wonderfully buttery and flaky all on their own. They paired perfectly with the cheesy dip, which was generously loaded with crab meat. The burger was juicy and tasty and came with a side of house made chips and small pile of pickle slices. The bartender served a mini glass bottle of Diet Coke and poured it into a beautiful glass for me. When the bartender discovered I was visiting the area for a dance convention, he helpfully suggested other popular places for dancing in the area and interesting spots to check out. I hope to come back here the next time I'm in the DC area! read more

Dauphine’s - Burger and dip during happy hour - Seafood Near Me - Washington, DC, District of Columbia

I stopped into Dauphine's while visiting Washington, D.C. for happy hour, and the experience was absolutely exceptional. From the moment I sat down, the bartenders made me feel genuinely welcomed and taken care of. They took the time to walk me through cocktail recommendations, suggest food items, and even let me sample a couple of things to make sure I found something I would truly enjoy. That kind of thoughtful, personalized service is rare, and it made the entire experience feel less like just grabbing a drink and more like being hosted. The cocktails were fantastic, the food recommendations were spot on, but what really stood out was the hospitality. The team made me feel heard, valued, and comfortable -- especially as someone stopping in from out of town. I would highly, highly, highly recommend Dauphine's. Amazing atmosphere, incredible service, and the kind of staff that makes you want to come back. Can't wait to visit again the next time I'm in D.C.! read more

The apps and drinks were good but the two mains were really subpar (catfish creole and the pork steak). The catfish was flavorless and the beans on the pork dish were hard and dry. Wish I would have taken pictures. I'm not sure where the pig ears were on the pork dish. Just not good and definitely not worth the $$$. I may have excused it if the dishes were under $20. read more

My favorite part of Dauphine's was the service. It was lovely, and they really emulate Southern, Louisianan hospitality. The server was so nice to us the entire night and gave great recommendations. Whiles the pasta dishes + proteins were pretty good, my favorites were the "Bread service" (a bunch of different breads that were so good and served warm) and the Branzino! They did seafood dishes well here. I came here for a work dinner and we had a great time. I did wish the pace of the dinner was quicker, as there was a large gap of time between apps and mains tho. read more

So let start with the atmosphere. It was absolutely stunning. It felt like a hip underground trolley station to me. Very worth of brunch! The meals were greatly portion for a full belly experience. Both the entrée and appetizers were plentiful, flavorful, and pleasing to the tongue. The drinks were made with a well balance between being strong yet with flavor! The service was quick and the waiters that we had were knowledgeable and friendly. Absolutely come check this place out! Came here to celebrate a friend's birthday. The decorations and ambiance were amazing! However, the food and the wait staff were lackluster, especially considering it was supposed to feature NOLA-inspired cuisine. I ordered the beef and sweet potato hash, which consisted of cubed beef and cubed sweet potatoes, topped with a collard green chimichurri sauce and a poached egg. The egg was poached perfectly; however, nothing else had any flavor, not even a hint of seasoning. At the very least, the beef should have been seasoned before cooking and cutting. The chimichurri also lacked flavor. There were a few of us, and everyone, excluding the birthday girl, shared the same opinion about the food and the lack of seasoning. I ordered some beignets for dessert, and they were delicious. I liked the little shaker that came with them, allowing you to add your own powdered sugar. I also appreciated that the manager, or possibly the owner, came by to get our opinion on the food and service. I may come back to try their happy hour, but I don't feel the need to return for brunch. read more

Highly recommend! My friends surprised me for dinner here to celebrate my birthday and I'm so glad they did! The food, service, ambience (decor + setup) and drinks were all so good! We shared the oysters and bread service -- both were delicious! Everyone who knows me know that I loveeee oysters! So I was pleased. For my entree, I ordered the Branzino Amandine, which comes with Louisiana rice, green beans, and satsuma! So fresh and so flavorful! The almonds set it off. I'm thinking about it now and wish I could have some. The menu has a lot of good options to from so I definitely plan on returning to try them. read more

Dauphine's is a knockout of a restaurant, located just around the block from the Westin City Center where I was staying, so perfect walking distance. Being a fan of New Orleans-style cuisine, Dauphine's certainly fits the bill that I wasn't expecting during my stay in DC. I managed to grab a bar stool at the stylish open-area bar counter, which is surrounded by booth seating on one side and the lower-level dining area on the other. The ceilings are high but with acoustics that don't drown out the sound. The service at the bar was reasonably fast, given I arrived around 7:30 in the evening. For dinner, I took advantage of the three-course meal special for about $58. Out of the options for each of the courses, I went with the crab hush puppies, which were delightful, while the bacon-wrapped pork loin with creole mustard cream was delicious. Finishing with the chocolate and pears was an excellent conclusion to the meal that wasn't too heavy and had the right balance of sweetness and fruitiness. Cocktail-wise, I tried a wide range of selections, starting with the Dauphine's Martini, which was quite lovely with its anise aromas and full-bodied, navy-strength gin. Given my taste for NOLA-originated cocktails, I followed up the martini with the New Orleans Fire, which is a "fiery" blend of bourbon, amaro, ginger, and habanero. That cocktail certainly brought some nice heat but also some excellent sweetness. Given that I had enjoyed it at the Carousel Bar at the Hotel Monteleone in the French Quarter, I also enjoyed the Vieux Carré, one of the only rye-based cocktails I order again and again immensely. If you're staying in the City Center or further west in the Georgetown area, it's worth coming over to the Dauphine to enjoy their NOLA-styled fare and cocktails. read more

Dauphine's is what happens when Cajun comfort food meets a Prohibition-era costume party and somehow it mostly works. First off, the vibe: full-on speakeasy energy, dim lighting, and that "you better look like you belong here" atmosphere. And you kind of do. Dress decent. Not because it's fancy fancy, but because there are a lot of overdressed people walking around acting like they invented buttons. The place attracts a weird mix of "date night classy" and "professional a-hole in loafers," so do yourself a favor and show up looking put together. Food-wise, the Cajun menu delivers. Big flavors, solid execution, and the kind of richness you expect when a kitchen isn't afraid of butter, spice, or joy. The bar is the real star though. Every drink we had was a straight 10/10. No misses, no weak pours, no "bartender got distracted by their own personality." Speaking of the bartender: super nice, but also had the kind of street-smart energy that makes you feel safer crossing the street afterward. Like if anything went sideways outside, they'd handle it without spilling a drop. Only real heartbreak: no Mr. Pibb. I know it's a small thing, but some of us have standards and they're cola-shaped. Bonus win: we had $150 in credit card credit, so the whole night felt gloriously free. Drinks? Free. Food? Free. Judgmental overdressed crowd? Unfortunately still included at no extra cost. Bottom line: go for the cocktails, stay for the Cajun food, dress like you're trying (even if you aren't), and bring your own Mr. Pibb emotional support if you need one. read more

I love brunches that aren't super loud with music so this place was perfect. The service was on point and they were super accommodating. Not too many restaurants offer cucumbers for water (instead of lemon/lime) but a few will have them at the bar and will just grab some for me. Often times it's not available and I'll just get a "no, sorry", but here...they got a whole cucumber cut up for me which was so nice! I ordered the chicken and waffles and it was the BEST chicken and waffles I've ever had! I would come back literally just to order it again. My friends all loved their food as well. read more

Good food, but a seating experience that left us with questions Two walk-in parties arrived at Dauphine's within minutes of each other on a Thursday before 5pm. They were treated very differently, and we were one of them. It was a last-minute dinner for my wife's birthday. OpenTable showed every 4 and 5 o'clock slot open, and when we arrived, one of roughly 20 tables downstairs was occupied. I asked for a table for two, said we had no reservation, and mentioned the birthday. We were told they'd need the table back by 7pm for a large party. While we stood there, another couple about our age arrived with their two sons, casually dressed in shorts and athletic shoes. They also had no reservation. We were close enough to hear their exchange, and they got no 7pm warning. We were led to a two-top beside the cook prep area and politely declined. Meanwhile, the family was seated at a booth in the same section. The hostess next offered us a center-aisle table, and when we asked about a booth, gave a reason we couldn't have one. We pointed to the family. Only after her second trip to the host stand, 10 to 15 minutes after we were first seated and just as we were about to leave, we were seated at a booth. The food was good. Dessert was a lost opportunity to boost their tip. I asked for sweetener for my coffee; it never came. Ten minutes later I was handed the check: $170, plus a vague 4% surcharge. I still left better than 20%. I left that tip because I waited tables in DC restaurants much like this one through my teens and early twenties, before a career in small business finance. The hustle is turning tables. A well-dressed couple celebrating a birthday before the shift has really started is the easiest money of the night. I'd never have mentioned the 7pm party. I'd have bet I could get a two-top in and out in 60 to 70 minutes and leave them feeling special. My wife and I are in our early 60s, active, and not the type to park at a table for two hours. One tries to rationalize why two similar walk-in parties were treated so differently. That family was white. My wife and I are African American. Whatever the explanation, it points to a front-of-house team that needs better training. read more

We came as a group to celebrate, during one of the live jazz brunches. I definitely recommend a reservation during brunch time. Once our entire party arrived we were seated and water quickly brought out. We did drinks and I got the a few plates for the table, the bread basket, pommes dauphine, and fried boudin balls. The bread basket and fried boudin were a hit. The pommes dauphine wasn't bad, but it was very mushy and the consensus was this wouldn't be something ordered again. For entrees there was a mix of the chicken and waffles, blackened catfish creole, crab cake, beef and sweet potato hash, and the traditional breakfast. There were no complaints in the house except for the beef and sweet potato hash. The hit dishes to definitely try are the chicken and waffles and blackened catfish creole. The waffle almost tasted like a funnel cake in waffle form. For dessert we did the bananas foster baked Alaska and that was strong! I don't think the alcohol burned off all the way so it was like a shot in a dessert. Overall, we had a really great time and majority of the dishes were really good. We will be back and definitely recommend trying out if you are in the area. read more

Great experience at Dauphine's! The ambiance is lovely. They went above and beyond with the elegant New Orleans decor. Everything in the restaurant is picturesque (very Instagramable). The service was good! We were seated for our reservation on time. The server was friendly. You must get the bread service! It's incredible. Arguably my favorite part of the meal. I had a delicious tequila-based cocktail. They have a unique selection of house made cocktails. It seemed like the classic Hurricanes were most popular based on what I saw the waiters carrying around. Highlights included the crudo toast appetizer, the broiled oysters, and bbq shrimp. For my main, I had the mushroom stuffed chicken. It was delicious. The cauliflower that came with the chicken was my favorite. It was so fresh! We had a great time. I came to DC for a few days for work & my first night in town we had a dinner with the whole team at Dauphines. One of our coworkers lives in the Roslyn area & while she's never been it was highly recommended to her from others. We ordered appetizers for the table which included bread service, charred broccoli salad, & Brussels sprouts I don't really drink much but I do enjoy a good mock tail so I had the Anita Garibaldi which had Martini & Rossi Vibrante, grapefruit soda, citrus oil. It was very refreshing and tasty. For dinner I didn't have many options as there was only 1 vegetarian meal. While I was highly skeptical & disappointed with only having one option. I had the Ricotta cavatelli root vegetable ragu, stracciatella. I was pleasantly surprised as they did a good job with it as it was so good & just the right portion size. Every one enjoyed their dinner my coworkers the meat eaters had the quail, short ribs, pork loins, & yellow fin tuna. We tried various deserts on the menu Beignets, king cake bread pudding, strawberry shortcake, chocolate pears, & Vietnamese coffee cheesecake. All of the desserts were so good but the Vietnamese & strawberry shortcake cheesecakes were my favorite. This place is great I highly recommend. The ambience & decor was great very aesthetically pleasing great for a date or dinner with friends or family. I will definitely come back next time I'm in town for work.t read more
