One of my favorite Persian restaurants. Great dishes in great portions. We had a party of 20 and they took really good care of us. Food was delicious. We started with a couple of their combination appetizer (hummus, bocani, salad olivieh, and dolemeh) which were the perfect pair to their warm pita bread. A few orders of their Darya #2 (filet mignon shish kabob, chicken shish kabob, beef koobideh). The Darya #3 with the lamb chops was amazing too. We ordered a few more individual items like the beef koobideh (comes with 2 huge strips with steamed rice & grilled tomato). They give you a lot of butter... so do the thing and let it melt on your hot rice. It is so good! Food is great. Decor is a little outdated but it stays true to theme. Service was excellent. They were even able to store a cake for us and brought it out as requested. They provided a cake knife and dessert plates for us. Will definitely be back. read more

Came here on a Thursday night for my daughters birthday dinner and their service and food was well above 5 stars! We got there after Disneyland so we were exhausted and it was about 7:30 but they seated our party of 7 with no issues and the food was just immaculate! They use REAL CHARCOAL for their bbq! What I ate: - Hummus: free with Yelp check in. This was a great way to start. I like that there were some olives, tomato and cucumber slices to give it some freshness and a nice drizzle of olive oil - Lubia polo: I've never ordered this before but I'm glad I tried. I really liked the rice, it has a depth of flavor I appreciated. It was basically Persian fried rice. Came with a koobideh skewer and fresh cucumber salad. I finished this all. I would definitely order again Pros: - Food was all great! I tried and of my friend's juicy chicken kabob and it was cooked perfectly - Service was friendly. When our server was busy the manager (? Or owner?) stepped in to help and serve us too - Lunch prices were reasonable considering the amount you got, mostly in the $15 dollar range - The interior of the restaurant was really ornate and pretty. Inflation! We all hate it. Nowadays, you get less for the same price, or lesser quality for the same price, or the same quality and quantity at a greater price. Pick your poison. I've been coming to Darya (Tustin) for decades, even before they moved up the street to nicer digs. Always pricey, but also always quality meals. Until yesterday... Ordered two Darya salads to go. Sit down for a fine lunch and, to my dismay, I get option four: Low quality at a higher price! ($32 for two salads minus tip). Everything was there; dates, walnuts, tomatoes, olives, cucumber and cheese, but the slam-dunk foundation, the corner stone that brings it all together, the goodness to heap even more goodness on, was old lettuce stems! At a second-rate restaurant I wouldn't be yelping, but this is Darya! This is WHERE you go to get the best of the best. One would think that the "Darya Salad", if nothing else, would honor it's namesake. Check out the pics. Sorry Darya. I didn't mind your prices until the quality fell off. Buh-Bye PS - Darya is the only restaurant I know of that opens at 11:30 for lunch. Not a big deal. Just an inconvenience you need to remember (and I usually don't). Am I being to nit-picky? One of the best meals I've had in years! The service was excellent (shout-out to our waiter, Danyal) and the food utterly scrumptious. Had lunch there with my sister and nephew the other day. The service was nice and ambience pleasant - the food on the other hand was the worst Persian food I ever tasted. Incomparable to the other Darya in Santa Monica. The Persian salad was at least a day old - tomatoes soggy, and the cucumbers mushy. The rice was oily and not fresh. My white fish was more like piece of leather dipped in oil. I had the same experience with this restauraunt a few years ago, and I thought to give them another chance and see if things have changed - unfortunately same old sad story. read more

I love Persian Food! And unfortunately we don't have a very good Persian restaurant in the Peninsula. Forget about Shalizaar in Belmont ! Whenever I travel to OC which is often, I go to my favorite Persian restaurant in Orange, called Darya. It is the best Persian food in ÇA. I took my client there and he loved it! Better than Rafi in Glendale, Shamshiri in West Hollywood and the original Darya in Costa Mesa. Their Soltani combination Kabob which is the most popular dish, a combination of filet mignon called Barg and koobideh which is ground beef is out of this world! The filet melted in my mouth and was cooked perfectly ! The koobideh was not over powered with onions and juicy ! Also had lamb, Juicy Ckicken which is boneless chicken breast cooked to perfection along with chicken koobideh which ground chicken with seasoning. Ordered 3 types of rice instead of just Basmati rice! I loved the food so much that I ordered some food to go and bringing it on the plane back for dinner tonight! The food was delicious! I tried the Lubia Polo and it was right on point. The rice and the beef were perfect. My son tried the ghorme sabzi and he also enjoyed it very much. We used to come here very often, but since we moved further away, we can only do it on special occasions, and today was one of them. We met old friends for lunch. The menu is a great choice of Persian foods, including appetizers both had, and cold and main dishes. Lots of choices. The food is very tasty. Server was Makeo (sp?) he was very helpful and kept checking up on us to make sure everything was good. I don't remember the name of the food runner but she is fabulous. If I tried to do what she did there would be broken dishes and food all over the floor! The owner was there as well, and she remembered us which was pretty neat. I think her name is Pantea. They used to be a belly dancer there on Friday nights I believe and it was fun, but you couldn't hear yourself talk so today we had a very peaceful and delicious lunch. read more

A local friend has been recommending this place many many times. Apparently this restaurant is somewhat of an institution in the neighborhood. For one reason or another , we never had a chance to eat here until recently. To be completely clear, you come here for the food. The restaurant feels outdated. But it reminds me of a hole in a wall Asian restaurant that serves bomb food. (FYI, beverage selection very limited). Get the mixed combination app .... very tasty and refreshing. The eggplant was so flavorful. Gets your appetite going for the much heavier meat dishes. For main courses, get the combination platter which gives you a taste of all the grilled meats.
