Food was not on par with most Persian restaurants I'm used to. Seems they are trying to mix Persian with Mediterranean. The vegetables were so thinly sliced on the chicken kabab that they were almost non-existent. (We had one diabetic with us who could not eat the rice so we hoped the vegetables would be a good alternative.) The grilled tomatoes I love with kabab and rice were missing and the bread is thick pita. Kababs were a bit dry although the koobideh was pretty good. Tadig rice was super thick and they only offered two stews with it...the fesenjoon being good while the gehmeh pretty bad. No gourmet sabsi which is the most popular Persian stew. Kashke bademjoon was terrible. Overall very mediocre food. The restaurant itself is nicely decorated and modern. We went for the belly dancing and she was great. Singers were good too. Service was also attentive. Disappointed in the food but all else was great! read more

This restaurant used to be located in Irvine since the early 90's off of Culver and 5-Fwy but has relocated to Lake Forest/Foothill Ranch area since about 2 years. The ambiance is excellent! Full marks to the interior designer. Food is also to the point. I have tried them for dinner about 3 times and lunch buffet ($25 pp) twice and every time the experience was on par with the best Persian restaurants in the area. Worth mentioning are their skewer Kabobs offered for lunch buffet, i.e. Chicken and Shrimp. Specially the Chicken which are very tender and juicy. On weekends they have belly dancing if that's what you are looking for. I would definitely recommend this location. read more

We ordered one of the family meals, the mixed kabobs with chicken, beef koobideh x2, and veggie. Came with basmati rice, pita bread, and salad. It says for 3 people. Probably more for 2.5? You might want to get one of the 4 kabob combos if feeding 3...but otherwise, meal was great. The kabobs were well-seasoned. We were especially impressed with the chicken, came out so juicy and tender. Sauces aren't included, was a little bummed not to see any hummus or tzatziki sauce. Have to order the appetizer, which is a bit pricey. Too bad it's not a la carte. Food was ready by the estimated pick up time. Plenty of parking in this strip mall. read more

We had a birthday party of 25 at Caspian and I can't imagine having a more memorable night than we had! Whenever that many people get together, it is expected to have at least one complaint. But we didn't. The service we received from Mahdieh was just flawless! The food was great and the live performances made it a truly fun night to remember. They even helped us decorate the table and gave the option to split the check and bring our own cake. Having a birthday party at Caspian was the best decision we made. read more

I love Persian food and was excited to discover that this building that had housed so many failed restaurants was Persian. And, I was blown away at what a beautiful job they did in converting it from the last concept. It is really attractive. But, restaurants are about the food, so the jury was still out. The minute I was handed my menu I searched for my favorite flavor - Fesenjoon. The walnuts and pomegranate and molasses are the ugliest, yet tastiest combination ever. Sure enough, it was there on the menu. So, we ordered the Fesenjoon and Qabuli Pulao, which is basmati rice with raisins and carrots and almonds. We chose lamb as our protein. The Fesenjoon was amazing. It was paired with crispy rice, which was so crispy and delicious. I am salivating as I am writing this. The Qabuli was excellent also. The service was fine...efficient, but nothing special. But, we were treated to live music. The whole experience was much better than we expected and we can't wait to return. read more

I tried the lunch buffet today and was very impressed. The restaurant is beautiful inside, with a large dining room and outdoor seating. There is even a stage for live entertainment. The buffet had great variety, beef, chicken,fish and plenty of fresh veggies. The chicken kabobs were my favorite, juice, tender and full of flavor. I also loved the the warm pita bread, the hummus and yogurt dip. The only downside was the fish, which had a noticeable smell and did not taste fresh. Stopped in for lunch on a weekend, very excited after seeing high reviews on Yelp. We arrived at opening, the restaurant was pretty empty. We were seated outside on the patio. The entire restaurant is very well decorated and well kept, very cute for a girls lunch, date or special event. Our party of 6 and 2 babies came here for an early dinner and first off, it is very spacious, easy/plenty parking, and people here were very kind and welcoming. I ordered the lambsicles and they were cooked and tasted perfect! I also tried others - salmon, koobideh (beef and chicken), and chicken kabob. On Saturday I honestly did not enjoy Caspian.  The entertainment felt very unprepared. The band did not seem rehearsed together, the singers were often off key, and the overall chemistry on stage just wasn't there. At times it felt awkward watching the performances because the energy and style between the performers didn't match well at all. The food was also mediocre considering the prices. Eating here is always a great experience. The food is very gourmet for Persian cuisine. What I mean is Caspian has fancy versions of things you'd get at a traditional kebab restaurant. The difference is the spicing and quality of ingredients is excellent here. I was super excited to try Caspian and was let down unfortunately. I had gone to the previous Caspian in Irvine and liked it but this new location was a disappointment. The good stuff about it was the ambience - very well put together place and generally seem to be well staffed. It has a slightly upscale vibe to it but not too upscale....good place to go on a weekend bc they have live music too so it's good for a date night or an outing with some friends and family. The food itself is where the let down was. Koobideh kabab is my favorite food and I have had lots and lots of it in my life and rarely do I ever say it's not good.....this kabab was simply weird. The taste was very off, typically koobideh is either a mix of beef and lamb or just beef with onion, salt, pepper and sometimes some places but sumac or saffron in it if they want to be generous. These guys put something else outside of those ingredients on it and whatever it was, it completely ruined the taste of the beef koobideh kabab. Perhaps it was maybe even just too much butter on it, but it didn't taste that way. To make matters worse the kabab was lukewarm warm, it was 100% sitting in the kitchen for a long time before they brought it out to the table. The chicken koobideh tasted pretty good, it was well seasoned and prepared. I also liked how they put some zereshk on top of their rice, it was a nice touch to it. Unfortunately though, like the rest of the meal, this was also sitting in the kitchen for far too long before they brought it out and it really ruined the experience. I tried some of my dad's qabouli polo and that too was also very room temperature and sat in the kitchen. It was a shame because I feel like the taste would have been ok if they had just brought it out hot but because everything was room temperature it was not enjoyable. read more

Update! We went the other day for a small personal celebration with friends. When we walked in they were hosting a large corporate event which made me happy to see them doing well. We were seated at a great table away from the activity. Service 10 out of 10. Regularly checked on which was appreciated. The food. 10 out of 10 again. We all ordered something different and it all came out at the same time hot and fresh! The pricing is comparable to the service and quality of menu items provided so understand this isn't one of the typical corporate restaurants in the area that put you thru like a machine. Wow, this place is FIRE. The best Middle Eastern Persian Food of all of South Orange County. I had dinner here last weekend with my girl and some of her friends. The first location in Irvine closed but the owner relocated here and honestly I think I like the new set up more than before! Walking in, you're greeted with statues and an overall infrastructure that tips its hat to Iranian heritage. I've been there twice, and both times it does take a while for a staff member to realize you're waiting for them to seat you but everyone's rather friendly all around. The waiters are all attentive and are willing to answer questions about the food if you ask them to--not something they used to do before and I'm glad they changed that, going to this restaurant isn't so daunting to a lot of my friends now! Let's talk about the food! It's pretty good but the price is rather high considering the amount that you get. The quality of the food has gone up since its relocation and I couldn't be happier, don't get me wrong BUT it's not enough to justify the price hike in my opinion. Overall I would say Caspian is a good place to visit if you'd like a taste of Iranian cuisine, but the price is something that keeps me personally from visiting more often than I'd like. We came Saturday at 730 pm so we could catch the live dinner show, which tonight was international music. Really great ambiance, there were several birthday parties where they served dessert and had the fun sparkler candles. Throughout the night, service from Moses and his team continued to be top notch, we definitely felt like VIP. We ordered the lamb kabob, beef koobideh chicken tender kabob, but kicked off the night with dolmas! They were warm, not chilled, and more flavorful than I'm used to. Ok. So we were back again last Saturday. I have been eating at Caspian since I am in my mid 20s. Over 25 years. I have to say, the food, the entertainment, is just amazing. If anyone gives this place less than a 4 star, I just don't know what to say. We had lamb, koobideh, chicken, and white fish. Everything was perfect. We were a party of 15 Persians, and everyone said how great the foods was. Now, some people always complain about price. I ask, where can you have high quality meat, with other fresh ingredients, that you end up taking half home because the portion is so large, and only pay $30 to $40 dollars for? On top of that, service is great, the vibe is great, the music is great, and you can dance all night long with the house band, sing with Shirin, and go home without having to clean up after yourself. Do yourself a huge favor, come here once a month, you will enjoy it every time. I do. High five to everyone at Caspian and thank you for always giving us a memorable experience. I really enjoyed our time here. It's a great place for dinner and a convo, and seeing belly dancing :). Service was great too.The mezze plates were so yummy i could've eaten it all myself. They let us mix and match a beef and chicken koobideh, and we also tried a baghala polo with lamb. We ended by splitting a cheesecake and 7 layers. Very concerning experience at Caspian. My sister ordered rosé, and when it was served, it was poured for her rather than coming directly from a bottle at the table, which immediately raises questions for me now looking back. Given how sick she became and the fact that she had to be rushed to the ER, it makes me seriously question the quality and handling of the alcohol being served. I also began feeling sick the following day which makes the whole experience even more alarming. At this point, I think Caspian needs to seriously look into where their alcohol is coming from, how it is being stored, and whether old or improperly handled alcohol is being served to customers. Between that and the symptoms we experienced, their food and drink safety practices need to be investigated. No one should go out for a meal and end up this sick afterward. read more

Alright, this place was definitely not what my family was expecting at all and very underdressed for the dinner. The inside is very clean and nice and has some beautiful decor and statues that were pretty cool! As far as the food, everything genuinely tasted great. The hummus and the 3 Hot Plate Platter are a must-have! We could not stop eating all the sauces and hummus with the pita bread. The entrees were recommended by our wonderful waitress, who said the lamb is the go-to. The lamb IS the go-to. Had wonderful flavor and seasoning. Perfectly cooked and very moist! The rice was alright, not the best, and very dry, but of course, you get the lamb dish for the lamb, not the rice. The chicken kabob was also great and perfectly cooked chicken with wonderful flavor and zest of lemon! I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for Greek food! Also, our server was honestly the best of the night. I forgot her name, but she killed it and was on it with the drinks.
