The combo plate

Good food and great service. It was a slow night, which made the place feel calm and peaceful. I visited during dinner, and the dim lighting made the atmosphere more relaxing. I really enjoyed my time here.

I've loved each and every visit here and the heart grows fonder with all fulfilling bites. The best and worst thing about Darbari is finding the proper entrance to their private parking lot- which is tiny but never seems to be full and always seem to have a table. This is an aged establishment with consistent quality and service. Especially their tahdig, probably the most unhealthy thing we can order but still way healthier and crunchier than anything fried in a grease basket.

Great hole in the wall for legit Mediterranean food. One of our go to spots in the area. We ordered the combo koobideh and Cornish hen. The koobideh was ok, not bad. But the Cornish hen was simply out of this world. Free bread is a nice touch. Their special rices are also amazing. Decent amount of parking but traffic can be a pain since it's near a big intersection that eventually leads to the beach. Service was good but when we first came there was only one server servicing the main floor. Eventually another server came and service was smoother. Would definitely keep coming back!

I love Darbari!! They have the BEST Persian kabobs in town and the best kabobs in general. I usually get it Togo and they are fast and on it. The food is always consistently good! Since my best friend is Persian, I've eaten a lot of Persian food in my time - Darbari is amazing! Next time I need to get the Tahdig with Gheimeh. Give them a try!

I ordered the boneless chicken platter with chicken koobideh. Half salad half rice. The chicken was very flavorful and seasoned. Grilled to perfection. The rice was fluffy and moist. Definitely great food. I just had the order to go.

We found this place by chance while we were on our way to the airport. It was a small restaurant and the Persian grill caught my eye! There was free parking lot in the back of the restaurant super convenient. We walked inside and was greeted so kindly immediately. The waitress was so sweet. Super friendly! They had a huge variety on their menu. We decided to get the beef to share and thank god we did because it was a huge plate! It was so flavorful! The rice was steaming and such smooth taste. The beef had so much taste I can't even describe. It was that good. They have complimentary bread with butter too! The food came out so quick too! The place is clean and quite. Definitely deserves more attention here !!

Search was on for Persian food like we used to get in Pasadena. Tried Darbari for takeout, Chicken Barg and Filet Kabob with Adas Polo and a Greek Salad. Friendly service, food was brought to our car parked behind. While the meats were perfectly seasoned, both were dry. The adas polo was quite good, but I prefer my own made at home with plenty of fresh medjool dates, Darbari's few dates were dry like a preserved food item. The Greek salad is nowhere near the level of My Greek Kitchen a few blocks away. The items were enough for the two of us - for two night's meals, but we considered it to be on the expensive side.

We were craving some mediterranean Food and found Darbari on Yelp as a highly rated restaurant. Though bit of a drive, we went for it. Its a small , cute little place with not a lot of seating but makes for a nice cozy spot. They have their own parking at the back so no need to park on the street. Food here is great and service is on the money. We tried their mixed kebab skewers and chicken kebabs and both were awesome.

Honestly, I don't know why I haven't been here before but I suppose it's better now than never? I absolutely love Persian food, it's one of my favorites, aside from KBBQ and sushi. There's a tiny parking lot in the back or you can park on the street where Mother's is located and it's just a short distance away. There is indoor and outdoor dining with ample space. The service was awesome. The water was getting filled right away, I didn't have to ask for anything, and the food came out in a timely manner. Can I have a gallon of the Ash Joe soup? Ash is one of my favorite soups and I've gone to quite a few places for it but this one has the best one, hands down. I ordered the chicken shish kabob with the lubia polo and the chicken and veggies were great. They give generous portions of the rice as well. My friend ordered the vegetarian fesenjon. I didn't try his food because I was so busy eating mine but he said his was good. Next time, I'd love to try their zereshk polo, white fish kabob, filet mignon kabob.

Meet up with a good friend over lunch , my friend and her boyfriend who is Persian. This was my first time having Persian food and let me tell you, my taste buds were going crazy!! All the different flavors were amazing. I have to say Persian food is interesting and good experience. Super nice authentic Persian Resturant , food is great but the best thing about it is the owner attitude who serves us him self with a big smile . Food is fresh and tasty , atmosphere is nice and simply and the prices are reasonable. If you're seeking an authentic taste of Persian hospitality and culinary mastery, look no further than Darbari Persian Grill. It's an experience you won't soon forget. 4.5 star .

A personal favorite spot in Costa Mesa! Pros: Highly recommend this establishment for catering or food delivery. We hosted a meeting for 30 and were extremely pleased with the catering platters delivered to us. Highly recommend both koobideh options as well as their three stew combo! Extremely fresh ingredients and made to order. Very generous portions for take out - we have also ordered from them via door dash as well. Look no further if you are craving Persian food and are in the vicinity of Costa Mesa! Highly recommend. A+ Will be back soon!

Kashk should be well incorporated into the Ash and shouldn't appear lumpy or separated

Just received my doordash order and i need to address some issues with my order , the salad Shirazi tastes funky and it has a wrong ingredient which doesn't belong to this salad , shirazi salad has cucumber , tomato and onion with lime juice and if u like to add herbs you can add some dried mint NOTHING MORE ! Adding parsley to a world famous Salad and ruining it's recipe makes people surprised after receiving their food because i thought it's gonna be the same thing as they serve everywhere and now i hate it because only a psycho would add huge amount of parsley to salad shirazi and make it taste like tabbouleh ! Ashe jo had a very weird consistency of whey on it , it didn't look like the photos at all , either the whey wasn't fresh or it's the worst quality one ! It is very clumpy and didn't blend well. Lubia polo and dough were ok , that's why i gave 2 stars to this review.

The rolls…read morewere coated in butter infused with zesty lemon and thyme (Yes, like the name of the restaurant! Isn't that adorable and clever?) Then came the entrees. Knockout after knockout. The Pork Belly with Black Garlic and the Seared Duck Breast were both perfectly executed. Crunchy, golden skin. Juicy meat. Rich, flavorful sauces paired with comforting, silky purées. Balanced. The kind of plates that make us slow down to savor each mouthful... and then shamelessly scrape up every last bite. We were so smitten after those first two dishes that we threw all caution and control to the wind. I asked staff to surprise us with one of the dishes recommended earlier. Out came the Grilled Octopus Al Pastor. Nice char, tender bite, and a tangy sauce. For dessert: the Baklava Cheesecake. Lightly spritzed with aromatic rose water, ultra sweet, and unapologetically indulgent. Beautifully crafted and shareable, though you may not want to. Beyond the food, the ambience really shines. Intimate, classy, and whimsical, with a charming playlist. Ideal for date nights or special celebrations. Service was outstanding. Warm, attentive, and passionate. Staff enthusiastically walked us through the menu and offered recommendations. Our server was on point. Water glasses were never empty, plates cleared promptly, and everything flowed seamlessly. An incredible experience from start to finish. I couldn't stop yapping about the duck and pork belly since our first dinner here. So we came back the following weekend! We ordered our favorites again - the Pork Belly with Black Garlic and the Seared Duck Breast. To our surprise, the meats felt rather chewy and tough. I'm hoping this was a hiccup, but would love to see consistency in texture. Will be coming back for more :)

Parking: Free parking in the back of the restaurant. Our Tes took us to the parking lot outback when we punched in their address. Food: 4 stars. Small menu selection with a couple of specials for dinner. Really enjoyed the burger + fries + beer trio. Good solid food. Creative and generous serving portions. This is really out of the way for us, but since we were doing some shopping in Costa Mesa, Grok recommended this restaurant based on a few of our filters... Wow, the food was phenomenal...but what pushed this from a 4 star to a 5 star experience were the warm towelettes and lemon for me to wash my hands with. I guess they saw me using my hands to eat their delectable empanadas, they brought a plate with warm towelettes and lemon over. Pleasantly surprised and impressed. Highly recommended, and will definitely be back. We come down to the OC a few times a month to see friends and escape our regular routine.

Decided to have dinner here again, and so glad we did. Ordered the combo with gyro meat and kefta. Serving size is decent, less meat than expected but tasty and filling, Love the rice and hummus with warm pita. Also ordered the grrek salad. My husband and I shared both entrees. The combo ones with a side salad with a lemony deessing, which was really good and different from the Greek salad dressing, also really good. You can request the pickles id happened to notice when I wsnt to order more pita. 1 cones with the meal but its not enough for the amount of hummus. There are 3 sauces also. A tzaziki, hot sauce and another green one im not sure if it was a pesto. No matter, all good. I'll definitely be back. Its popular for sure, lots of takeout and call in orders. I wish the baba ganoush they would also offer it as an option for the plated meals besides the hummus like a extra charge would be great. Lebanese style falafels are the best and this place nails it. We had reservations and our tables were ready early before our time so we were able to sit there and wait for the rest of the party. The menu is pretty extensive with a good variety of cold and hot appetizers and meats. The prices were also reasonable. We opted for the dinner package, which came with choices of 3 cold appetizers, 3 hot appetizers, salad, 3 choices of meat, and rice for $55 per person plus tax and gratuity. The belly dancing show started at 8:30pm and was entertaining. The dancer really engaged with the audience. I was sitting in a far corner and thought I was hidden from her view, but she came over, started dancing next to me, and got me to do a slight shimmy along with her. It was fun. My only complaint is the waitress was a bit much. We already ordered a lot of food, mind you, but every opportunity she had, she kept pushing to order more and then mentioned there would be an extra charge. She also wanted to charge us for 8 people even though we had 7 people at the table.

** this is from several months ago** t'was sitting in my drafts for a bit,…read more... Several beer pitchers in @ HACHI (just next door-shout out to them)-- for a celebration of a breakup, the end of midterms, or simply the triumph of continuing to exist (in THIS economy?? were all needing to praise ourselves for simply surviving) -- we found ourselves drawn, like moths to a fluorescently lit flame, to Halal Guys. Now listen. The food? Solid. Reliable. The kind of food that understands you are not here for nuance. You are here because life has punched you in the throat and you require a plate of rice, chicken, gyro meat, and mysterious white sauce to spiritually stabilize. I used to go to the OG one in NYC when i was getting punched in the throat there too. (PUNCHED IN THE THROAT BY ACADEMIA, FIGURATIVELY, y'all haver crazy imaginations outthere). BUT it;s the people... It's always the people... The staff. My siblings in falafel... it was 10 PM. You could feel the collective energy of "we have been serving drunk people since sunset and you are the 437th group tonight explaining your breakup story while pointing at the menu." Not judging, just warmth and the quiet aura of people who have seen things. Who have witnessed humanity at its lowest point: ordering extra hot sauce and then immediately regretting it. JC looked in my soul and I think he understood,,, everything. AND JESS! (my fairy wielding a spoon scooping the heavenly meat and talking to me like a therapist??) And they fed us. Efficiently. Respectfully. Would I return? hell ya i would. only to see if Jess and JC remembers me. JK the food is always reliable. y'all stay away from the hot saucres,

Overall (1/5) This was easily my worst Halal Guys experience…read moreand honestly left me really disappointed. I came craving something familiar and left feeling like I wasted both time and money. First Impressions (1/5) When I walked in, there was only one person working, handling the fryer, the register, and assembling plates. I genuinely felt bad for her, especially considering the steady line forming. What We Got (2/5) I ordered a regular plate, which is what I usually get at Halal Guys. Nothing customized or complicated, just the standard order I have had many times before at other locations. Taste and Quality (0/5) The food was shockingly bad. The rice was raw and crunchy, which was hard to believe at first. The meat pieces were tiny and very chewy, and the pita bread was extremely soggy. On top of that, it was only around 4 pm and the usual spinning meat and grill were not even on, despite the line picking up. Service (2/5) The worker was clearly trying her best, but one person running everything in a busy location is not realistic. She was constantly running back and forth between the fryer and the line, which made the whole operation feel chaotic and slow. Space and Atmosphere (3/5) The space itself was fine and what you would expect from Halal Guys. Clean enough, but nothing stood out positively enough to offset the food experience. Was It Worth It (0/5) Not at all. As someone who is pretty frugal and almost always finishes their meals, I could not finish this plate. It genuinely felt like a waste of $18. Final Thoughts This location does not seem to be held to the same standards as other Halal Guys in the area. This experience was disappointing from start to finish.
