The workers are also very friendly, and there's some seating outside. The Chapli Kebab was delicious, flavorful ground beef patties served over some good rice and salad that was also tasty. The chicken platter was just as impressive, with tender, moist chicken that was served on some pita alongside hummus, salad, and fries (these were really good too!). Santa Ana's hidden gem! My husband and I always look for new restaurants/different cuisines to try and this time we stumbled upon this Afghan restaurant on Yelp. Every dish blew us away. The different spices, yogurt, sauces paired well together and created flavors that are undeniably delicious. This was our first time trying Afghan food, and Kebab Kurry Express completely blew us away. It's a cozy, small spot tucked into a strip mall with plenty of easy parking. It has a very casual counter-ordering setup with table service, and the space is beautifully decorated with Afghan clothing, cultural items, and traditional music playing in the background. The owner couple were the nicest people ever, taking the time to come by our table and ask how we were enjoying every single item. We started with the Leek Bolani. It was beautifully pan-fried to a perfect crisp with a slight char on the outside. It was served with a cooling yogurt sauce and a vibrant vinegar green sauce that made it absolutely delicious. The owners suggested we try the Squash Bolani next time since it's a crowd favorite, and we definitely will. For the main course, we ordered a half-and-half plate of the House Special Mantoo and Aushak. The portion sizes were very generous for the price, and we were both shocked at how good these were. I loved the Mantoo with the savory meat sauce, while my wife preferred the Aushak topped with lentils and chickpeas. We also had their Indian-style Chai tea, ordered without sugar. It was incredibly authentic--a rich, flavorful, and fabulous cup of tea. I highly recommend this restaurant for an extremely flavorful meal, great value, and exceptional hospitality. I had been eyeing this place for a while in search of a place with qabili palau, and this place did not disappoint! Also ordered mast-e-khiar, leek bolani, dough, and a chai in addition to the qabili palau. The bolani was served with a yogurt dipping sauce and a chili sauce that were delicious. We found this place after heading to get tacos but the nearby restaurant was too loud for us. This place is oozing with personality, very cozy and well decorated. The service was fast and polite. The food was delicious. This place offers Mediterranean and Indian fusion, we had the chicken tikka masala and it was excellent, but hadn't tried any Mediterranean food, though most of the people there were ordering Mediterranean food and it looked great too. You know how you can tell if a Chinese restaurant is good based on how many Chinese people eat there? Yeah, it's the same here, this place is clearly popular with the locals. I saw this restaurant on a story by Rachel Brown on Eyewitness News. I stopped here for lunch and lucky for us the owner was there. He was very nice and explained every dish. I had the Shishlik Kebab. It's a meat of your choice mixed with broccoli, onions, and shredded carrots. I got it with lamb served spicy. You can order it without spice. Traditionally you're not supposed to eat it spicy. It was the most delicious lamb I've ever had. It was cooked well done and was very tender and flavorful. I practically licked the plate. It was so flavorful and paired with rice/salad. Perfect for a lunch meal. This kind of Kebab is a flattened ground beef with a bunch of spices. You can get it non spicy or spicy. I chose the non spicy and got their hot sauce on the side. You must try their home made hot sauce. It's a hot sauce like no other. It has spices and other things in it. Not a hot sauce like you normally would get but it's bursting with flavor. Oh, another item I ordered was the Hummus. It's creamy and delicious. Also, the warm garlic naan was so good.
