What a great surprise! The food was great, the appetizer was great. The drinks were great, and the the service was great. My friend's son wanted to try chicken tiki masala, so I looked up Indian food. There is not too many Indian food places in Costa mesa but this one looked the most appealing from what I found. It is on the other side of town for me.. I didn't expect much, and was very surprised... It is in a somewhat hidden corner of a strip mall on Harbor and Adams... but worth the search. they immediately served a complementary appetizer like you would get chips and salsa at a Mexican restaurant.. It was a nice touch. The tables proper table cloths, nice water, glasses, etc. when the food was served, it came served in very nice what I believe to be copper Bowls... everything just had a nice feel to it. We talked to the owner a bit before we left. He used to manage some Indian restaurants up in Los Angeles for a long time, but has lived in Orange County for many years... I guess he recently purchased this restaurant, and I would highly recommend going to check it out.. I love to see independent restaurant owners making good food in our neighborhoods thriving.. Absolutely incredible experience! The Aloo Gobi was hands-down one of the best I've ever had--perfectly seasoned, tender potatoes and cauliflower cooked with rich, authentic spices that really popped with flavor. You can tell it was made fresh with care. Paired with their fluffy, fragrant rice, it was the ultimate comfort meal. The service is perfect and your table is well taken care of. Friendly service! I ordered the Chicken Korma, samosas, garlic naan bread and extra rice online. When I went to pick it up I had asked if they made sure the extra rice was packed. They didn't and it took a few minutes for them to check the receipt and add it. The extra rice was $2.99 but I also paid extra $0.99 to have it with the chicken korma and it didn't have the rice so it was a little disappointing. It was $32.28 for everything and the portions were kind of small. Aside from the price and missing rice, it was packed well and the food tasted good. read more

Tucked away in corner, under new owner this place is great. Loved the food service and ambiance. I personally like clean walls not any tacky indian art works. Food was great, for their locals. For my Indian taste needed some more flavours. First off nan dough didn't have salt , I ordered Peshwari nan its but sweet in flavor. If nan dough has salt in salt in dough it taste better. Hint of salt bring out flavor of coconut and raisin ( my personal opinion) Pakoras I like with spink le of chaat masala, when I asked they gave us. Maybe for their american crowds they don't like taste of chaat masala. Samosas were big in size and freshly made. Yummy. Mango lassi was really good, no artificial flavour added. Malai koftas were great, fresh ingredients, soft and creamy. Food was piping hot just the way we like it. Owner Mr. Robin was very nice, came and check on us multiple time, so is there staff. A generous 2 stars. I requested my tikka masala to be extremely spicy... I must have mentioned it to him several times...Apparently, my requests went through one ear and out the other...It was a tad above mild....The rice was good and the naan but the main dish just did'nt cut the mustard...With that being said, i will not be returning. read more

Ordered butter chicken and garlic naan from here after coming back from India and graving the dish. It's okay, but the butter chicken isn't authentic. They add too much tomato paste -- the taste is more reminiscent of tikka masala and it lacks depth of flavor. It might be more appropriate to name this tomato-flavored sauce with chicken in it than butter chicken, which shouldn't be so acidic in taste. The curry doesn't have "umami" in it. Unfortunately, the chicken also isn't tender. When I eat it, it feels like this was a white person trying to cook Indian food. Disappointed :( read more

Guy at the front was very nice. As soon as I got the ordered they wasted no time getting it out. Hopefully I can have some time to dine it. This place is actually delicious! I'm an Indian foodie fan and this place is going to be one of my go-tos so close to home! It's small but neat and clean inside. Wine glasses and cutlery on the tables so it's a cute little spot for a delicious date night. The proprietor or manager was so nice. Parking might be an issue on busy nights because it's in a popular strip mall on Harbor blvd. No issues at 5:30pm on a Friday night though this week. We ordered the onion pakora, raita, butter chicken, lamb biryani, aloo gobhi and potato naan. I literally could not find anything I didn't like. Everything was perfectly prepared and so flavorful. The biryani was loaded with lamb pieces. They were not stingy with the portions. Popping deliciousness! If you're nearby, give this place a chance to entertain your palate! Enjoy! read more

Came to have dinner and my first observation was that the name of the restaurant on the building doesn't match the name of the restaurant on the menu. Next there seemed to be very few people working. there was one person manning the phone, counter and the tables overall seems to have more take out orders than dine in. Probably because the actual restaurant looked unfinished. There were cables hanging where a tv should be and no decorations just blank walls because of this the restaurant was very quiet when you spoke there was an echo. Would recommend some music. Because of how little people were working the waiter forgot to bring me hot sauce. Food was good but the overall dinning experience left more something to be desired. We tried this place on a whim and im so glad we did. We are vegetarians so we tried the chilli paneer and vegetable tikka masala and both dishes were delicious. The garlic naan was perfect. Got the Tandoori chicken which was well seasoned and has a delicious smokey flavor along with the Tikka masala (also great) got the medium spice but felt like we definitely could've done hot (but I'm a spicy fan) Naan was delicious and chewy/soft texture. We used to frequent this Indian restaurant when it was tandoori Fresh but stopped going when it became Green chilis. Had dinner there last night under its new ownership. Food was great. Even more flavorful than tarts original place. We had the platter and saag paneer with the potato and peas stuffed naan bread. The saag paneer is filling so our items were easily enough for 3 people. Andaaz is seriously a gem. The owner is one of the nicest, most genuine people I've met -- super welcoming and you can tell he really cares about the experience. The food? Unreal. The lamb curry is rich, flavorful, and so tender it basically falls apart. And the tandoori chicken is on another level -- juicy, perfectly cooked, and packed with flavor. Great hot fresh Indian food. We ordered to go. We had enough for left overs for 3 people for 2 additional meals! Very simple inside the restaurant. Not too busy on a Friday at just after lunch time (1pm-ish). Staff were very friendly. We had vegetable curry, chicken curry, chicken tikka masala, green chili chicken, rice, and garlic naan. I am gluten free and only had the veggies and chicken curry and rice. The green chili chicken was breaded-I will ask if they can make it without gluten next time. Green Chilis was recommended as a place to try for my birthday lunch. I'm usually a 'Mexican food for my birthday' guy, but I was up for something new. I'm glad I took the suggestion. The space is lovely, with good energy and a mix of clean and spices. I had the chance to meet the owner, who told me that he would be making some changes. I'm excited to come back and see what he does. As an appetizer, I ordered Samosa, crisp pastries filled with potatoes and peas served with fresh mint and Tamarind sauce. The Samosas were crispy, flaky, and stuffed. The Tamarind sauce is gold! There is a Lunch Menu with some good selections, so I ordered Vindaloo Chicken. It is cooked with hot spices & potatoes, and freshly squeezed lemon. It comes with rice and Kachumber. I also got an order for Garlic Naan. Leavened flatbread is sprinkled with garlic and cilantro, and lightly spread melted butter on top. It was warm, buttery, and delicious. The piece is big enough that I brought some home. One of the reasons that I wanted to go to Green Chilis was to try the Chicken Tandoori. Boned chicken legs marinated in yogurt, herbs & spices cooked in the tandoori oven served with sauteed green peppers and onion and topped with fresh cilantro & lemon. It came on a sizzling hot plate that announced its arrival with a dramatic entrance. The chicken had just the right amount of spice, char, and juices. The bed of grilled onions with lime juice made it just right for a birthday lunch. For dessert, I got Rice Pudding. Lightly sweetened rice cocked in a saucepan with whole milk & Indian herbs. I was too full, so I brought it home along with one of the chicken legs. If you are in the area, try it and say hello to Chef Paul. You can taste the love and passion for cooking in every bite. What a wonderful experience. The new owner is the chef, just took over 3 months ago. He had a successful and well-loved restaurant in Hollywood for like 14 years. The restaurant is not fully staffed yet, but what a gem it was to have this chef serve us tonight. Such an authentic person and his genuine love to serve excellent flavors really showed. We drove down from LA and happened to stop by because we were in the area for a concert. We started with samosas and it was a promising start! The filling was thoughtful and the pastry crust was perfect. Even the dipping sauces were so pure in flavor. Ordered garlic naan, tikka masala and lamb vindaloo. Every item was made with care. Flavors were specific and developed with intent, did not feel heavy at all. We were pleased with the depth of flavors and quality of ingredients. I felt blessed to have had a meal here! Haha sounds cheesy, but after meeting the chef prior to our food and experiencing his passion through his actual food was pretty special. I highly recommend. Don't judge by the "slower" service, the chef is paying more attention to the food! This restaurant deserves a lot of love, give it a try!!! read more

This is a great gem here in Costa Mesa. It is under new ownership and the new owner is very nice and attentive. I ordered a large meal for 6 people and it was all prepared well and organized.
