    Feast!
    Marcel E.

We ordered a feast to go for dinner. This was our first time ordering from here so we basically wanted to try everything lol. Our top picks were the Chicken Masala (way more flavorful than the Butter Chicken), Garlic Naan, Samosas, Lamb Biryani, and the steamed Chicken Himalayan Momo (looks like dumplings) with the tamarind chutney was amazinggg. Loved that the chicken dishes all came with rice too. Definitely ordering from here again! Gonna see if we can eat at the restaurant next time

Stopped by for some food and saw they had some good reviews. We ordered the chicken tikka masala, coconut chicken, samosas garlic naan and mango lassi. Both chicken plates were terrific so tasty. Garlic naan is super good. The samosas were ok. The mango lassi was really good. The place had plenty of seating and was clean. Staff was friendly and found they were from nepal. Will definitely be going back super good!

I ordered garlic naan and butter chicken through DoorDash. The butter chicken was good, creamy and flavorful, but there was a pretty distinct tomato taste that stood out more than I expected. The garlic naan was decent but didn't really taste like fresh garlic; pretty sure they used jarlic instead, which made it less flavorful. Portion sizes could definitely be bigger; the photos online made it look like more food than what I actually got. Since I doordashed I can't speak on service, but overall it's a solid spot. I'd give it a 9/10: mainly just wish the naan had real garlic and portions matched the pics.

This place is such a hidden gem. It's definitely more of a hole-in-the-wall spot, but honestly that's part of the charm -- no frills, straight to the point, and the people here are incredibly friendly and welcoming. The prices are AMAZING for the amount of food you get. Huge portions, super generous servings, and every single thing we ordered was absolutely delicious. You can tell they really care about the food and making sure you leave full and happy. Their lunch special runs daily until 3PM which is insane in this economy. The garlic naan was included with the lunch special at no extra charge, which almost never happens these days. And it was fresh, buttery, and so good. If you care more about incredible food and value than fancy decor, this spot is 100% worth checking out. We'll definitely be back!

This was my first time to the Indian Café. The service was good. This is a very basic, no-frills, clean restaurant. Service was good. My butter chicken was good but average. Portion size was similar to most other places. It came with rice. I had to order nan on the side. I would consider returning when in the area again however, I would probably try other restaurants first.

Small, but nicely arranged booths and tables. Helpful staff as we hadn't eaten India or Nepal food. I had Chicken Biryani for $13.99. Great and huge portion. My wife had the Lamb Thali which was very good at $14.99. Fun food as it was all new to us.

Must say I'm really happy to stumble on them! The food is so good, the butter and garlic naan is not too dry, it's still moist. We pair it with. Goat curry, and it goes 10 for me! It's so good, the meat is generous, and the gravy! Oh wow, they gave the rice for one set of the curry, which yes for sure, I finished it with the rice! My daughter loves it, hubby likes it, for these 2 that always are picky eater, kinda good to know they like it! I had their mango lassi for drink, it's good! I will be back for more gravy! Oh the bathroom is so clean, it's a small shop but somewhat it felt homey!

Vegetarian dish: 91. Vegetable Nepali Thali

I was craving Indian food and came across this place while searching on Yelp. I came here on a weekday evening and it was pretty empty but I dined in and noticed many customers in and out grabbing to go. I wanted a vegetarian dish so I ordered the Vegetable Nepali Thali and it did not disappoint! I think I had eaten everything down to the last grain of basmati rice. It was soooo delicious and the naan was freshly made when it came out. It's not a fancy restaurant and could be viewed somewhat as a hole in the wall, but that's usually where the best food comes from.

    Chicken tikka masala

2.5 stars I think this is unfort Indian food meant for white people. Ordered the chicken tikka masala and garlic naan. A couple of the naans were more like chips and not fluffy at all. And also came out cold. The chicken tikka masala's sauce was good but the chicken itself was very chunky and not well cooked. The ambiance is alright and the service is great. Waiter was very attentive. Overall I don't think I'll be coming back.

I see a lot of reviews complaining about them not being open, I recommend following them on Instagram as they post their hours and offerings on there. I wish they included pricing on their posts to allow us to budget better before being on site. They are very much on the pricier side but for the most part that is justifiable with what you get. I picked up some spot prawns at $45/lb, 4 pieces ran me about $25 but those were so fresh I would get them again. I also picked up scallops. I did expect them to be fresh but they were completely frozen so I am not sure when they harvested them and the scallops themselves were a tad on the smaller side, at about $33 for a 17oz bag that seemed a bit steep. Most of their fish range from $32-35 per pound and their Mexican white shrimp were $25/lb. I do very much plan to come back but this would not be a frequent stop for me

5-Star Review: Shuck Oyster Bar in Costa Mesa - Absolutely Outstanding Seafood Experience!…read moreI recently visited Shuck Oyster Bar in Costa Mesa (located at 3313 Hyland Ave suite C 21), and wow - it exceeded every expectation! If you're a seafood lover, especially oysters or creative tacos, this place is a must-try. We started with the oysters from Washington - a beautiful variety platter of four different types. Each one was fresher and more incredible than the last, with that perfect briny pop and clean finish. They were absolutely amazing and easily some of the best I've ever had. Then came the tacos, and they stole the show. The lobster tacos were out of this world - on a completely different level! Tender, flavorful lobster with perfect seasoning and toppings that made every bite pure bliss. The fish tacos were excellent - fresh, crispy, and perfectly balanced. And don't sleep on the shrimp tacos either; they were delicious and rounded out an epic trio. The calamari was some of the best I've ever tasted - light, crispy, and not greasy at all. We also got the lobster roll, which was again on another level - generous portions of sweet lobster in a buttery roll that was just heavenly. To top it off, the fish and chips were spot-on: crispy batter, flaky fish, and that classic satisfaction. A great touch was the cucumber-infused water - so refreshing and a nice thoughtful detail. The atmosphere is fantastic: chill vibe, not too noisy, and since we went before noon, it wasn't busy at all - perfect for a relaxed meal. The service was friendly and attentive. Overall, Shuck Oyster Bar is now one of my absolute number-one go-to spots in Orange County. I can't wait to come back - probably very soon! If you love oysters, fresh seafood, or just great food in a cool setting, you've gotta try this place. Highly recommend to friends, family, and anyone who appreciates quality seafood. 10/10 - we'll be regulars!

Also very much chatting with each other and even when making eye contact with servers for assistance was ignored. Food wise order the dozen oyster chef choice, grill cheese, chowder fries, ahi and lobster taco Dozen oyster there were 3 types all on the brinier side with the final ones more brinier than others and accompany with ginger 2 types of chili sauce and pickle red onion Chowder fries a bit on the salty side with some bites but had a nice chowder and fries ratio With little heat from the Fresno chili that were garnished Tacos were served with in a blue corn tortilla, for $6 each on the smaller side like a street taco and flavors wise pretty basic, didn't stand out very much Grill cheese with 4 pieces very buttery toast nice crunch and gooey melty cheeses Overall pretty decent food but wasn't impress with the service and though short handed, there wasn't a sense of urgency to assist, minimal acknowledgment, and wasn't checked back on after food was dropped off as others were being asked around us Also noticed in their food kitchen window as dishes were waiting to be picked up there was a plate of burger and fries and someone from the kitchen twice with barehand taking bunches of fries from a already prepare plate to be delivered. Seemed very odd. Unsure if would return to this establishment.

Totally understandable as it's peak summer, and a weekend, they get busy. The restaurant was hot and humid. Now I'm sure they have AC, and even with all the windows and patio doors being open, they really should have opted to use the AC. The entire dining experience was uncomfortable. We ate our meal literally sweating. Even our server was sweating lol All our drinks went room temp in a matter of 10 minutes, we had to repeatedly ask for glasses of ice from the bar just to try and mitigate our body temperatures somehow. Also, the booth itself was incredibly tacky. And I don't mean visually tacky, I mean the texture. The feeling of plastic when it gets really old and it feels sticky to the touch, that tacky. You couldn't slide in or out of that booth if your life depended on it. And again, considering how humid and hot the interior was, it only made it worse. The lighting was also so dim that it gave the vibes of being sat in the corner of a musky Denny's diner lol. Halfway through our meal they turned the lights off for dinner service (I get it, to set the mood) but it made the table so dark we had to ask them to turn them back on so we could see the food on our plates. It wasn't that the entire restaurant was dim, it's certain tables (and sadly ours was definitely one of them) We had a party of 6, and one person got their meal well before the rest of the table. We of course insisted she begin eating, which she did, and our remaining meals came out as soon as she was done with hers. The waiter removed her plate as he set down everyone else's lol. The food was good, but, again with how uncomfortable the environment was, it was hard to enjoy. The restaurant was also fairly empty throughout our meal. We got there before 5 so that awkward "linner" time frame. Even so, we had to flag down our waiter for another round of drinks, water, etc. The Shorebird absolutely has stunning views, and that's what they're known for. Their food is solid, mist dishes fairly justifies the high price point. This visit was just not their best. Overall service and ambiance, fell extremely flat. I set the bar high for my guests, as they traveled in from out of town and I raved about my experience from a few months back. Granted, I was sat at the patio, overlooking the beautiful view, and the service was impeccable. With all the stellar dining options in Newport, unless you find yourself at a table on the balcony, I don't think Shorebird is the obvious choice. You'll end up spending the money regardless so you may as well look for a spot that is guaranteed to meet the expectations of the price point without having to be dependent on a view.

Luke's Lobster in Balboa was another birthday treat from the wife, and she wanted to take me here…read morebecause she knows I love lobster and crab rolls, or really just lobster and crab in general. Now here's the thing, I've never really had a great lobster roll. It's always been so overpriced for the lack of flavor and just never really worth it. Luke's was the first and truly one of the best places I've had a lobster roll, and honestly it was kinda shocking. We ended up getting the flight, which came with a crab roll, a shrimp roll, and a lobster roll, and all three were phenomenal. But what completely shocked me was that the shrimp roll was a hundred percent the best of the bunch. The butter it came with, that pure savory sweet ocean saltiness, the bread, the butteriness of it, I wish I had ten of them. I could have sat there and eaten all of them right then and there. The shrimp roll was number one for sure, which really surprised me, but it was that good. The lobster roll was a solid second. Great amount of lobster too, and I mean this isn't the kind of place that gives you two or three sad little pieces, they pack a whole handful of lobster in there, which I really appreciated. If you're paying a pretty penny for it, at least they came through with a generous amount. The crab roll though, that one completely fell short. I wasn't too bummed since I was way more locked in on the lobster, but the crab just wasn't there. I don't know if the crab itself just didn't have the flavor this catch around, but it tasted like watered down salt with a little bit of butter. So yeah, that one was not great. Lobster and shrimp though, wonderful. The clam chowder was also really good. I added a little pepper just to give it an extra kick and a little bite, and it was great. The staff were so sweet too, super welcoming and helpful, especially since it was our first time and we had no clue what to get. We hit them with a bunch of questions just to get their insight and hear what their favorites were, and they were awesome about it, really welcoming and just genuinely sweet and helpful. This is definitely one I'd love to go back to, and I highly recommend it to anybody looking for a good lobster roll. Truly a good place in my opinion.
