Chicken 41. Pad Thai
Trinity G.

Delicious! Our family friends recommended this place and I am so glad they did. The staff was kind and friendly. I ordered chicken pad Thai which was light and flavorful. We also ordered a side of fresh spring rolls which hit the spot. If you are looking for good Thai food, this is the place to go!!

Delicious flavorful Thai food on balboa pier!!! My family was vacationing here and we were craving Thai! We were so excited this place was nearby! We did an online order and ordered plenty of dishes ranging from the beef oanang curry, paprik king, pad see ew noodles, shrimp dishes, ginger chicken. Everything was delicious!

A solid option for Thai or any takeout on the end of the peninsula if you don't want to fight peninsula traffic. They are friendly and the food is pretty good. I really enjoyed the pumpkin curry - it had full chunks of pumpkin it it and the spice level was pretty spot on.

Mint Leaf Thai Cuisine is a little restaurant making big impacts. When you first walk into this restaurant, one of the first things you notice is its size. Depending on the orientation of tables, the establishment can fit less than or more than 10 parties at a time, depending on the size of the party. The restaurant was decorated with lots of bright colors and the restaurant had a comforting vibe to it. Although the front of the house was only ran by two people, they were very friendly, quick, and efficient at doing their jobs. It was astounding to see our server take our order by memory and make no mistakes while doing so. I ordered the yellow curry with chicken and a small side of white rice. The yellow curry ($15.95) was one of the best yellow curries that I've tasted so far. The coconut milk yellow curry had a rich flavor and was perfectly spiced. On the menu the dish is labeled as spicy, but I found it to have the perfect kick. The kind that you feel more in your throat than your mouth. There were carrots, potatoes, and chicken in this dish, and I found everything to be perfectly cooked. On the menu it states that the curries do not come with rice. While I understand you can eat curries alone, most Thai places that I have gone to includes a side of rice with their curries. Since rice was not included, I added a small side of white rice for $2.50. For dessert, the table shared the Mangos with Sticky Rice ($11.95) and it was simply delectable. The mangos provided a subtly sweet freshness to the sweet sticky rice. The portion was fairly large and good to share with 3-4 people. My visit at Mint Leaf Thai Cuisine would have been five stars, however people at my table noticed that some of the dishes were not cleaned properly and had to exchange them for a clean dish. With this all being said, Mint Leaf Thai Cuisine has a great array of dishes that are sure to be delicious for everyone.

Suggested tips are based on after tax total instead of before.

Food is decent. Not the best Thai food I've had. But wanted to comment on the pricing as this place intentionally rips you off. As you can see on the receipt, suggested tips are after tax instead of before.

10/10. My favorite thai spot. food is always delicious. the staff is always so kind and considerate. i brought my puppy with me and we sat outside. staff brought him a water dish.

Perfect little thai spot right by balboa. Waiter was oh so kind and attentive. Paradise fried rice was my favorite- all the good stuff pineapple, cashews, shrimp! Delicious flavoring. Pad thai also very tasty! Mongolian beef could use a little more but that may just be my own personal preference. Overall glad I checked this place out it was just what I wanted on a beautiful day spent in balboa.

41. Pad Thai

Mint Leaf Thai Cuisine in Newport Beach is a solid choice when you're craving classic Thai comfort food done right. The restaurant has a relaxed, casual vibe that fits perfectly with the laid back Newport Beach atmosphere great for a quick lunch or an easy dinner without feeling rushed.I ordered the Thai iced tea and Pad Thai with chicken to go. The Thai iced tea was spot on creamy, well balanced, and not overly sweet, which is always a win. It paired nicely with the meal and felt refreshing rather than heavy. The Pad Thai was flavorful and satisfying, with tender rice noodles cooked just right not mushy, not dry. The chicken was juicy and well seasoned, and the dish came with all the essentials bean sprouts, crushed peanuts, egg, and a fresh lime wedge to brighten everything up. The sauce had that familiar sweet savory balance with a hint of tang, making it comforting without being bland. Mint Leaf Thai Cuisine delivers dependable, tasty Thai food with generous portions and good execution of the classics.

42. Pad See Ewe made vegan

Came here after visiting Newport Beach & going on a boat cruise on the 17th- the restaurant we initially wanted to go to turned from a 15 min drive to a 58 min drive due to the high traffic, & we were celebrating my friend's birthday, so we came here instead. No reservation required, we walked right in for a party of 5. The food was really good - the veggie dumplings & pad see ew (usually what I get at a Thai restaurant). This place came up when I searched for vegan food, but the menu is not vegan and doesn't have any vegan denotation so we worked with the waiter to make our dish vegan. Great location, great Thai food. The Thai iced tea with boba can only be made with regular or coconut milk so we chose coconut milk. Very sweet tea, I love it.

Kids liked the cream cheese wontons, I loved the jungle curry

Very yummy little Thai place close to Balboa fin zone that was better than expected. I loved the Jungle Curry, and I like it hot! Only thing is you need to byob...no alcohol license but the curry makes up for it. Yum

Spicy Thai Beef Salad - I DON'T recommend (bland and beef tasted old)
Deb H.

So I only got food from here because I saw all of the good Yelp Reviews and I must say I'm very disappointed. All of the food was watery and lacking flavor: Pad Thai - bland, zero flavor. Also it was weird that the noodles were pink. Pumpkin Curry - I ordered this based on all the rave reviews: granted the pumpkin itself was delicious and perfectly cooked but the rest of the curry was bland and it was SUPER WATERY like a broth. I also didn't like how I had to pay an additional $2 to get rice. The curry should come with rice = I don't like being nickled & dimed.... Pad See Ewe - so bland and flavorless Spicy Beef Salad - the beef tasted weird like it was spoiled/old and the lettuce was just one big slice of lettuce (like you'd use when making lettuce cups) that I had to slice up myself so it wasn't really a salad. There were more basil leaves versus the one large piece of lettuce. The flavor of the sauce was also very bland. Tom Kha Kai soup - again watery and bland although not as bland as the rest of the food. This was the only dish out of everything I ordered that I actually ate in its entirety and didn't just throw it away because the rest tasted so bad Mango with Sticky Rice - hard to mess this up and it tasted good but the portion size was super small for $8 Overall I will never eat here again. It was a flavorless experience and not worth the calories nor the money. If you want good tasting Thai food in the Newport Beach area then I'd recommend Thai Del Mar in Corona Del Mar. Or if you need delivery then try Bangkok Corner.

If you're a local, you already know about this gem. My girl and I loved coming here, the ladies working are sweet and checked up on us to ensure everything was good and it was. The food was really tasty, absolutely did not lack in flavor. The portions are also a pretty good size. We will be coming back!

Chicken larb
Angel D.

Friendly service, quaint establishment, decent food including decently priced lunch specials. My friend was a little turned off by the appearance of the pink Pad Thai but she still finished it. The best thing our group ordered appeared to be a basil dish, the pad see eww, and the chicken larb. I thoroughly enjoyed my chicken larb which was well-seasoned and served on a bed of fresh herbs and lettuces, including red and butter lettuce.

If yelp wants me to quit, just say so instead of continuing to delete my review, they say it supposedly/potentially be offensive to some people, pl remember the woke Instagram fact checkers were all fired by ZUCK, even Google calmed down and all the woke politically correct twitters were fired so why is the woke culture alive and well w the yelp police, the only one that should be offended is ME, NOONE ELSE! Why is it OK to say German virus/German Rubella bc it was discovered by a German scientist but not if it involves other nationality about the Covid19 virus? Zaab Thai aside from being very sweet which is frequently the case w Thai food, I said the service was good but the food was not authentic bc all the help I saw was not Thai, I just explain why that could be the reason why the food was what it was, I did not comment on how anyone physically looked, now that would have justified deletion, btw other social media gave the creators a chance to appeal, I have my posts reinstated many times that's the democratic way. Why should anybody be bothered by facts? I'm not offended if somebody asked me if I were Asian, I just came back from Hanoi, I was even asked if I were Russian? I just laughed it off bc it was funny. People just need to relax and not see problems when there were none. I see that I'm not the preferred yelpie, having been invited just 3x in my 11 years being a productive yelpie, it's OK I cherish friendship w many yelpies here and I like being of help as I'm a passionate foodie but please enough w the constant messages complaining about imaginary issues. TYVM. I have traveled the world, I raised 2 executives so I know what being offensive is, I'm polite to everybody I know and love people from all nationality or else I would not have spent time learning 5 languages and above all I HAVE COMMON SENSE, which unfortunately is missing in a lot of people even billionaires.

Everything sounded so authentic, we decided to explore out of our usual Pad Thai and Pad See Ew. We ordered their Thai Boat Noodle, Crying Tiger (ribeye steak), and a fish soup (can't remember the name). The best was their Thai boat noodle, hands down. It's almost like pho with a giant bone in short rib. Their crying tiger was delicious as well. The fish soup has an acquired taste, and pretty spicy even with the normal spice choice. The place is so cute! Clean, well managed, and with trendy decor. I love the spaciousness of the tables, doesn't feel too crowded. And even with a busy restaurant, their service is excellent. Well, I guess it was bound to happen. While my food adventures in OC have largely been successful,…read moreit was inevitable that I'd end up coming across a place that so many folks like that just didn't hit the mark for me. However, I never would've thought that place was going to be Siam Station. After hearing good things about their spot in Cupertino/the Bay Area from several friends, it felt rather fortuitous when we randomly came across their original location - and with no line in sight! Inside, they've got a cozy sort of vibe and it's cool how they have some outdoor tables set-up as well. As for the menu, it didn't seem all that extensive at a glance, but it has all of the staples you'd expect to find among their appetizers, soups, salads, fried rice, stir fried noodles, noodle soups, curry dishes, entrees, and desserts. -- ZESTY WINGS - Deep Fried Chicken Wings Topped with Crispy Basil and Served with Chili Sauce Easily our favorite dish of the night. The wings were really crispy on the outside and oh so juicy on the inside. Even though there wasn't much of the sauce, which was flavorful but not that spicy, it was fine - the wings were still great without it. -- KHAO SOI with Chicken - Yellow Curry Broth with Egg Noodles and Chicken and Served with Red Onions, Lime, and Pickles Ehh...this was okay, I guess. On the plus side, the chicken was tender and I thought the broth was pretty good - not the best I've had, but better than most. That said, I didn't love the egg noodles, especially the crispy ones after they had soaked up the broth. -- PAD KEE MOW (Drunken Noodles) with Crispy Pork - Flat Rice Noodles Stir Fried with Spicy Basil Garlic Sauce, Bell Peppers, Tomato, Sweet Onion, and Thai Basil I was super excited for this, but it was disappointing. The first thing we noticed was how pale it was and, sadly, the taste matched. Whether it be their garlic sauce or some chilis, this needed more. As for the pork, it was definitely crispy, but a few pieces bordered on dry/burnt. -- MANGO STICKY RICE A little hit, a little miss. The mango was fine (decently sweet, soft), but the sticky rice left us a little wanting. Mainly, I didn't love the glob of coconut cream, was it was pretty thick and viscous, which gave the rice a weird texture/coating to it. As far as service goes, it was uneventfully good. Although there was one point where it was hard to hail someone, it was mostly because the restaurant got increasingly busy and one of the servers was trying to help a group sort something out with their order. Otherwise, our food came out relatively quick and the workers were rather efficient with everything. Despite how we left feeling bummed out by our experience, it had more to do with being underwhelmed than the food actually being "bad". Admittedly, we came in with high hopes/expectations from all of the hype we had heard and it probably didn't help that we had gone to Manaao the night before, which is one of my favorite Thai restaurants anywhere. What's more, I wonder if we just didn't get the best that Siam Station has to offer. I certainly wouldn't be opposed to coming back to find out (and potentially writing an update), but perhaps I'll just try my luck at their spot in Cupertino that my friends like so much.

I mean I haven't been to Thailand yet haha, but I feel like this is as close as I'm gonna get. Specifically their khao soi absolutely clears every other khao soi I've ever tried. It's SO rich, creamy, and I didn't know such strong flavors could exist in a dish. From the perfectly cooked egg noodles to the most tender flavorful chicken to all the little veggie garnishes, but especially that spicy curry broth, wow it's truly the perfect dish. I've ordered this one every time I come here and even for takeout, and it's consistent in how perfect it is every time. Second favorite dish here is the massaman with hangar steak. The curry in this one looks similar to the one used in the khao soi, but it actually tastes completely different! The curry is a bit lighter which could be better if the khao soi might be too rich for you, and the hangar steak is definitely the star of the show. Cooked perfectly and amazing with both the rice and roti that comes with it. Mee klook noodles are a bit sweeter if you like that sweet savory combo. The desserts here are soooo good here too and actually feel worth the money. Service is always so friendly, even one time we got seated 45 minutes before their closing and we felt really bad, but the servers were so kind and we always feel taken care of here. Will never stop recommending Hanuman to everyone I know!!! I feel like the word has gotten out already so there's definitely always a line, but trust me it's soo worth it!!!

We ordered the soup medium spice, the curry spicy and the Pad See Ew extra spicy. Be careful! This is some authentic spice here! We love spicy, especially my husband and he said he may order spicy instead of extra spicy next time. That is the first time he has ever said that. So be warned. Everything was so so good. The only knock was that the bottom of the crab rangood was almost raw. Still 5 stars for quality ingredients and flavor that had me elated to have leftovers for lunch and dinner the next day. Delivery was fast, food was well packaged and piping hot!! and portions were generous. It is now in my favorites and will definitely order from here again. Next time I will get pics but we were starving. Price is a little on the expensive side but soooo worth it!!!

First impressions walking in, the place was very clean, neat, and ambiance was nice. Much more elevated than what I expected for a neighborhood thai restaurant. Menu had some of the traditional favorites, as well as a few with some nice twists - like pad thai with soft shell crab!! And then the food came... we were in love. We scraped everything off the plates. We ordered the special of the pork jerky, so fresh and delicious. The pad see ew was the BEST I had ever had. Very dimensional flavor. Again you could tell it was very fresh. We also ordered the Garlic Pepper Beef, not my favorite, but would order again. We loved it so much, I begged the waiter to open a location in Los Angeles... specifically Porter Ranch, please!! I hope it happens. We love thai food and I can say this was the best I have ever had. I can't wait to return.

After pursuing some options in the Newport/Huntington Beach area, I decided to make 8:30 pm reservations for Starfish in Newport Beach! I have driven past this location so many times, and was excited to finally try it out! Upon entering, I was impressed by the moody interior with beautiful lighting and a gorgeous wooden door. The hostess was kind and quick to offer us a two-top bar style seating table that was close to the kitchen. We appreciated that we were sat so promptly, and we actually enjoy sitting close to the kitchen so we could see all of the deletable food options! We began our meal with two rolls as appetizers - the Buddha roll and the Sushi Nigiri Plate. The Buddha roll was a tofu-based vegan roll with a fun touch of toasted coconut flakes and two delicious sauces layered on top. Both my boyfriend and I loved the roll and would absolutely order it again. My boyfriend loved the sashimi plate and stated that the seafood was fresh and was higher in quality compared to your average sushi restaurant. Moving onto our main course, I ordered the Thai Green Vegetable Curry with coconut rice (which our server mentioned was different from the regular white rice because they cook it with coconut milk instead of water) and my boyfriend was craving another sushi roll, so he opted for the Shrimp Tempura Roll. The Shrimp Tempura Roll was pleasantly different from regular shrimp tempura rolls, because it contained crab meat and shrimp tempura. We noticed at this point, that all three of the sushi rolls that we ordered used rice paper instead of seaweed, and this unique twist to the sushi rolls enhanced them! I LOVED the presentation of the Thai Green Vegetable Curry. Something about a large stem of basil cascading over my food makes it extra fun to eat! In all seriousness, this was one of the best curry's I have had, and the coconut rice enhanced the entree. For our beverage selection, the cold sake that we hoped to try was out of stock, so we requested hot sake instead, which we sipped on through the meal. Pro Tip: the hot house sake was only $10 which is an amazing price point! Finally, it came to my favorite part of the meal, dessert! My boyfriend was leaning towards the Scratch Cheesecake, and I was leaning towards the Mango Pudding. We asked for our server for her recommendation, and she stated that the Banana in Fillo Dough or Scratch Cheesecake were her top two options. Based on this, we opted for the Scratch Cheesecake. It was good, but I probably wouldn't get it again. In my mind, I think of a cheesecake and immediately crave a thick slice of a classic New York style cheesecake. However, this was served in a glass with a graham cracker crumble as the base, and a cheesecake-style mousse layer above, with poached asian pears as a topping. While this wasn't my favorite part of the meal, it was still a fun twist on a classic dessert with a lovely presentation. Next time, I think I'll follow my heart and try the Mango Pudding. Between the food, ambiance, wonderful service, and elevated experience for an affordable price point, we will definitely return!
