I haven't been here in a while. Came back recently and noticed Simply Fish went upscale :). They have live music at dinner time. One-man band. Good entertainment. My spicy salmon salad was good but it would have been nicer to get the center cut of the salmon instead of end pieces. Salmon was a tad fishy. 4/5 My husband had the fish & chips and that was good. 5/5 Service was good.

How did I not know about Simply Fish Seafood sooner?! Think of California Fish Grill on steroids! I'm so glad my friends introduced me to this place, and we even got seated next to the owner, Derek, who was so pleasant, kind, and humble. He and his staff went above and beyond, and made us feel so special. We came on St. Patrick's Day, which was perfect for their Taco Tuesday specials. We ordered a ton of food, and nothing disappointed. Every dish was fresh, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. When it comes to seafood, it is usually a hit or miss for me, and items such as fish are easily overcooked. Not here. We got the CIOPPINO $22, with fettuccine $7 extra, ROCKIN' SHRIMP TACOS $3.50 each, a battered fish taco $4, a FILET MIGNON TACO $4.50 (special prices on Taco Tuesday), SHRIMP TAQUITOS (5 for $12), the WARM SEAFOOD SALAD w/ lime vinaigrette $23, and the SEABASS with rice/French fries $16. My favorites include the cioppino, Rockin' shrimp tacos (their best-selling taco), the shrimp taquitos, and the warm seafood salad. The tacos were huge and delicious as well. The fish taco was a little salty. Their menu is extensive, and they even have a SECRET MENU for more options. Could it get any better?! They even have LIVE ENTERTAINMENT on Wed, and Fri through Sun, although reservations are required on Fridays I believe, for their Tribute to Frank Sinatra and their classic 70s/80s/90s night. I definitely need to come back soon. This may be my favorite place in OC for seafood now. Fine dining quality at an affordable price, not to mention huge portions and great value! You can even order lobster tails and steak here, or add them onto your entree for an additional cost. This is the BEST RESTAURANT I have eaten at so far in 2026. Happy eating! Yelp Review #30- 2026

    Calamari = addicting

Good seafood and friendly staff. The space is one room with a high ceiling, but it felt cramped with how close the tables are to each other. Long wait time for dinner when we went on a Friday night, and service was a bit slow since it was packed, but staff eventually checked in to make sure we got everything. Orange roughy with fries and grilled zucchini: 3/5. The fish tasted plain, as it was very mildly seasoned. The creamy sauce was quite skimpy, and it didn't really add much flavor to the dish, but the lemon helped a little. Apps/sides such as clam chowder, calamari, and breaded scallops: 5/5. We enjoyed these a lot - they were addictive and had great textures. Definitely group pleasers. Location is in a small plaza off Harbor Blvd and Adams Ave. Free parking in the lot is available, and we didn't have any issue finding a spot even though it was a busy in the plaza.

Back with a friend for a second meal at Simply Fish. Had the fish and chips which is the Monday special. Enjoyed it very much!

Last night my family and I went to Simply Fish for dinner. I've been passing it on my way home for years and always meant to stop in, and this finally gave us a reason to go. My sister had the clam chowder bowl. Both of my nieces ordered bowls as well--one had a rock shrimp bowl and the other had a salmon bowl. I ordered the filet mignon skewer with a 4-ounce lobster. We also shared the sampler as an appetizer, but I didn't get a photo because it disappeared pretty quickly. Everyone really enjoyed their food. They had live music playing, which was actually really nice. When we arrived around 8:30 PM, the restaurant was very full and we got the last table, but we never felt rushed. We were able to take our time, enjoy the music, and relax. My skewer was tender and well seasoned. The lobster was small since it was a 4-ounce portion, but the meat was still very tender and flavorful. As for service, our server was very kind but a bit forgetful and on the slower side getting things back to us. That could have been because it was busy when we first arrived, but even later in the evening when it had cleared out, that was still the case. He may have been in training, so I'm not holding it completely against him. There was another man and woman who came around and delivered our food, and they were much better. I won't take off any stars for the service, but I do think a little more training would be helpful.

It's a casual seafood restaurant but the food is as good as all the fine dining. They have many menu choices as well as daily specials and limited alcohol/wine selection. We had fish & chip, warm seafood salad and side of grilled zucchini. Fish & chip is definitely one of the best I've ever had: flaky with a perfectly fried thin crust. It's not fancy but service and food are top notch. Will go back for other selections next time.

I've had this place bookmarked for a while, and decided to come in on a Friday at 2:30. Lucky for me it was happy hour menu! We tried the lobster roll and that was $35 if you get two it's $60. I got the three taco selection and for happy hour. It's only $12. Even beers on draft at happy hour is six dollars each, which are all really reasonable prices. The menu is huge. I had a hard time deciding and thoughts and this was my first time I wanted to give something off their happy hour menu a try. Their service is excellent and they have a live. Frank Sinatra impersonator on Friday evenings and a jazz singer on Saturday evening evenings. The place is fairly large cozy and has a diner type feel . I wouldn't mind coming back to try other dishes .

So they have OC WEEKLY which sounds great. However I got the bundle with shrimp taquitos, fish and chips, and the sad ass salad. For $38, mind you the shrimp taquitos are $13 for 5 and fish and chips is $16 thats $29 supposed to have an option of clam chowder or salad. Guess what theyre out of clam chowder you can settle for lobster bisque or sad ass salad. When I brought it to their attention that this wasn't really a deal becuz instead of 5 taquitos I got 3. I was willingly to over pay on the taquitos they came back we can offer you dessert. No I didnt eat the salad and I dont want dessert. But my wonderful waiter was able to accommodate me. Thats good service. And I really my food except the salad lol

First timer! Had an amazing experience with Robert. He was able to suggest great dishes. He was a delight. His positive and funny demeanor put the icing on the experience. The food, delicious! We ordered tacos (blackened salmon, blackened mahi, and rockin shrimp), crab cake, clam chowder, and mussels. And wine to top it off. Definitely would recommend 10/10 Coming back soon.

I can't believe I've lived in Costa Mesa for almost a year now and have only tried this place today. The menu is vast and there is a choice for everyone. We ordered the Sunday special which had lobster and steak on rice. My god, what a deal. Service was amazing and we never had to wait too long to have someone come ask us if we needed anything. We made same day reservations for 4 pm on a Sunday so it was not too crowded. The place is very clean and the vibe felt like a local gem seafood diner. Parking is plentiful. We will definitely be back.

Came here for lunch. The staff is friendly and helpful with answering questions. The place has a casual vibe and the tables are pristine. We started with margaritas, got oysters for appetizers, and surf and turf for entrees. Margaritas- They make them strong which is always appreciated. The regular one is limey and refreshing and the mango marg is sweet and fruity. Oysters- Fresh and meaty! Came with different condiments and sauces so it was fun to mix and match with each sample. Surf and Turf- We got the baseball cut steak which was cooked to preference. The meat is nice and juicy and perfectly seared. The lobster is fresh and tasty. I love the seasoning on it which pairs well with the sauces offered. Rice pilaf is buttery and fluffy and the mixed veggies provided a lovely balance to the meal. Great meal overall!

3.5/5. Decided to try this restaurant on a Friday and we did not make reservations since it was last minute but we waited about 35 minutes before getting seated. They do have plenty of parking which is nice. The restaurant itself is not too large but definitely cozy seating with high ceilings and they had singers entertaining us which was neat. We waited about 10+ minutes until one of the hosts saw us and decided to jump in to take our order which we appreciated. We started off with the clam chowder and crab cakes. The clam chowder wasn't too bad, wish it was hotter in temperature. The crab cakes came out quick and was slightly on the dry side. For our main entrees we had the swordfish and the shrimp/lobster. Both came with sides and I highly recommend getting the brussel sprouts because they were cooked very well. My swordfish was slightly overcooked and the shrimp was bit chewy. The portions are very generous for the price as this place does have reasonable prices for seafood. No one really checked in on us throughout our dinner and we finally flagged someone down for the check.

I love this place so much, and have been coming here since they opened. All the plates are delicious no matter what you chose.

They only texted me that my food is ready. Didn't send me a receipt, so I forgot what I ordered~

From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt incredibly genuine--even the waiters were speaking French, which added such a charming, transportive touch to our evening! We came here to celebrate a friend's birthday and were glad we made a reservation in advance, as the place has a great energy and fills up quickly. To experience as much of the menu as possible, we ordered several dishes to share. We started with the Burrata and the Butcher's House Pate. Both were excellent, but a special shout-out has to go to the bread and butter. The bread quality is top-notch, and the butter is divine--it immediately reminded me of the high-quality butter I've had in France. Before the mains, we shared the Butcher's Salad. It was incredibly refreshing and the perfect palate cleanser. We opted not to add protein to the salad since we knew we had a feast coming, and it was the right call. Since they are known for their butchery, most of our group went with steaks. Two friends ordered the steak and eggs, and I went with the classic Steak Frites. The steak was cooked to perfection and the accompanying sauce was amazing. Both the potatoes and the fries were standout sides--perfectly crispy and seasoned. Toulouse Sausage was a total hidden gem! It was incredibly juicy and flavorful. I tried a bite of my friend's cod, and it proved that they handle seafood just as expertly as their meats. It was delicate and fresh. While I didn't get a chance to try the cocktails this time, I noticed they have a full bar with a great selection. I already have my eye on the Espresso Martini for my next visit! Overall, a fantastic spot for a celebration or a nice date night. I can't wait to come back.

The Pork Belly with Black Garlic and the Seared Duck Breast were both perfectly executed. Crunchy, golden skin. Juicy meat. Rich, flavorful sauces paired with comforting, silky purées. Balanced. The kind of plates that make us slow down to savor each mouthful... and then shamelessly scrape up every last bite. We were so smitten after those first two dishes that we threw all caution and control to the wind. I asked staff to surprise us with one of the dishes recommended earlier. Out came the Grilled Octopus Al Pastor. Nice char, tender bite, and a tangy sauce. For dessert: the Baklava Cheesecake. Lightly spritzed with aromatic rose water, ultra sweet, and unapologetically indulgent. Beautifully crafted and shareable, though you may not want to. Beyond the food, the ambience really shines. Intimate, classy, and whimsical, with a charming playlist. Ideal for date nights or special celebrations. Service was outstanding. Warm, attentive, and passionate. Staff enthusiastically walked us through the menu and offered recommendations. Our server was on point. Water glasses were never empty, plates cleared promptly, and everything flowed seamlessly. An incredible experience from start to finish. I couldn't stop yapping about the duck and pork belly since our first dinner here. So we came back the following weekend! We ordered our favorites again - the Pork Belly with Black Garlic and the Seared Duck Breast. To our surprise, the meats felt rather chewy and tough. I'm hoping this was a hiccup, but would love to see consistency in texture. Will be coming back for more :)

Parking: Free parking in the back of the restaurant. Our Tes took us to the parking lot outback when we punched in their address. Food: 4 stars. Small menu selection with a couple of specials for dinner. Really enjoyed the burger + fries + beer trio. Good solid food. Creative and generous serving portions. This is really out of the way for us, but since we were doing some shopping in Costa Mesa, Grok recommended this restaurant based on a few of our filters... Wow, the food was phenomenal...but what pushed this from a 4 star to a 5 star experience were the warm towelettes and lemon for me to wash my hands with. I guess they saw me using my hands to eat their delectable empanadas, they brought a plate with warm towelettes and lemon over. Pleasantly surprised and impressed. Highly recommended, and will definitely be back. We come down to the OC a few times a month to see friends and escape our regular routine.

The expanded space creates such a warm, inviting atmosphere that makes the whole dining experience even more enjoyable. This time around, I had the salmon and my partner ordered the cioppino--both were absolutely exquisite. You can really tell the care and quality that goes into every dish. Service was just as impressive. Mia, our server, was cordial, attentive, and made us feel well taken care of throughout the meal. The hostess was also welcoming and set the tone right from the start. It's great to see a place I've loved continue to grow and improve without losing what made it special in the first place. Highly recommend!

He then claimed that it was my father's responsibility to contact InKind about this issue and that it was our problem??? No accountability at all from the manager. Grow up. The food is pretty good. Our waitress was also great. But there are major issues besides that.

Me and my husband met up with our in laws at SET Steak & Sushi. We were looking for a restaurant…read morethat was in close proximity to my father in law's mortuary. I also went online to check the ratings on YELP and it looked pretty good... LOCATION: Inside the PENDRY Hotel... PARKING: $15 VALET ONLY... TIME OF ARRIVAL: 1:30pm on Saturday. We only had 1 hour left before they close at 2:30pm... APPETIZERS: Came out 30 minutes later!!! ASIAN PEAR & PROSCIUTTO SALAD: 10/10 I loved everything about this dish! From the PEAR to the dressing. All the flavors were really balanced and complimented so well together. It's just a salad but, this is NEXT LEVEL salad... LOBSTER ROLL: 7/10 Too salty and there were more bread ratio than lobster... BLUEFIN TUNA PIZZA: 7/10 My table had one slice and stopped. It's raw and one must be careful when consuming raw fish because of bacteria and mercury levels... EVERYTHING HASHBROWN: 8/10 It was not bad but, I would prefer the other appetizers over this one... MAIN COURSES TOOK 75 MINUTES TO COME OUT!!!! Because it took so long for the food to come out and we were told that the kitchen was backed up we were given complimentary drinks... SPICY RIGATONI ALLA VODKA: 10/10 STAR OF THE SHOW! It was so good that I didn't want to pass this dish around the table! My in laws were getting full so I took the rest home!! So much flavor!! Creamy & satisfying!!! GOCHUJANG MISO KING SALMON: 8/10 I think the dish itself is very creative. The execution however could have been better. It was leaning towards a claypot rice fusion rice dish. Perhaps borrowing some inspiration or elements from Gyu kaku might elevate this dish... AMBIANCE: 9/10 Beautiful!!! However, the music was blasted loudly as if we were in a CLUB!!!! SERVICE: Service was good. Everyone was trying their best to do their job smoothly. I know it's not the staff's fault the kitchen was backed up. Everyone remained calm and poised. The servers could use more SMILES though... OVERALL: The food was good and the ambiance was even better! If you have the time and patience, I would recommend this place... READY, SET, GO STEAK & SUSHI!!!

The service, however, was pretty slow, and some of the servers came across rude. Thankfully our server Josh was cool, funny, and probably the highlight of the service experience. I ordered the Chilean sea bass while my sister and mom both got steak. We also shared shrimp and a salad, but they brought out the tiniest plates imaginable for sharing. By the time dessert came around, things took a turn for the worse. I suddenly had to make a full sprint to the restroom and let's just say... my dinner did not survive the evening. When your stomach starts rumbling like distant thunder over the Pacific, there's no "I'll wait until I get home." Restaurant restroom it was. Since everyone shared everything except my fish, I'm assuming the sea bass may have been the culprit because I was the only one who got sick. Unfortunately, it didn't stop once I got home either. Overall, I loved the ambiance, but getting violently sick after dinner makes it hard to want to come back... even if I did leave feeling 15 pounds lighter.

We found them to be very comparable: classy, sophisticated, and praiseworthy for both food and service. Celebrating Mother's Day for two mothers, and my granddaughter's 14th birthday, we began with a nice assortment of bread products, Shrimp Cocktail, and Bigeye Ahi Tartare. The shrimps were large, and the tuna melt-in-your-mouth delicious. I could not finish a large crock of French Onion Soup, and only ate half of Mastro's House Salad, which was riddled with shrimp. The part left behind sufficed nicely as an entire lunch for me the next day. While I selected flaky Chilean Sea Bass for my main, Diane splurged on a Jumbo 14 oz. Lobster Tail, and my daughter and granddaughter both opted for a 16 oz. New York Strip Steak adorned with Truffle Butter. For sides, Diane liked her large loaded Baked Potato, and I was fond of the ceamy white Scalloped Potatoes. For dessert the birthday girl enjoyed s slice of complimentary Special Occasion Cake, while Diane tried a dense slice of Pecan Pie, and my daughter and I shared an order of Chocolate Covered Strawberries. The quality was one step above a complimentary hotel breakfast, and nothing that tasted special enough to justify the price. The seafood tower was tucked at the very end of the buffet line with one person in charge of passing things out, so you had to wait through the already long line just to get to it. Also, it felt dishonest for them to advertise a "seafood tower" on the menu and not actually give out a seafood tower for the table when people are paying $150/pp. There was ONE carving station for the entire restaurant which meant you'd have to endure a 15+ minute wait just to get a plate, and some people waited even longer. And they only offered one complimentary drink (including coffee) per guest. And if you wanted a soda, you'd have to pay $5 more. Insane and stingy for the price. Our group ended up over $1,100 all in and it was a total rip off. Disappointing experience coming from Mastros - totally felt like a cash grab.
