Do you crave a beautiful night out with your person? Do you crave a tempting menu with all your favorites and more? Do you deserve friendly attentive service and a comfortable and stylish room? If so, you will enjoy your night out at Roux! We got there early on Friday night. We are seniors! We were quickly seated and served water and menus. The menu is thrilling with all your Cajun favs (poor boy sandos!), we chose the shrimp etouffee, the lobster bisque and the fried oysters. If you prefer beef they have a tempting selection of steaks including a legendary tomahawk rib eye! Our Heinekens were $6 a bottle. The parking is free and easy! They have beignets for dessert! You will like this place, I promise!

Nice little spot, their clam chowder was really good, not the best but I would order again. Their gumbo was average to me, could be better imo. I also had there salmon fish which I thought was pretty damn good, just wish the portion size was a little bigger. Service was a little slow imo but it was kinda busy so I can let it slide. I would come back here.

Came here with no reservations on a Saturday evening at around 6 PM. The place was packed particularly because the banquet room was rented out so they had a busy evening. We got the ribeye with the one side. I chose the garlic noodle. He chose the potato. The garlic noodle was just OK. I probably won't order this again. But the red potato was excellent! That was the big nice appetizer of the meal. The ribeye was great, good flavor and came out on a hot sizzling plate. The decor is decorated similarly to New Orleans and gives you that comforting feel. The weight staff is really friendly and does their best. I always appreciate coming here.

Came with my boyfriend's family for a dinner night. We made a reservation, but there was a good amount of seating when we came. I'd definitely make one in the case that more people start coming in! I got the Garlic Noodles with Ribeye Steak (Medium Rare). The steak was tender and well seasoned, but lots of fatty pieces were in there. Paired with the garlic noodles, it was great! You really can't mess up good noodles and steak. I also tried the Shrimp and Hot Sausage, but the sausage was dry. Definitely would stick to the steak. Prior to our meal, we also got the Fried Calamari that was addicting and crispy! Our server was incredibly attentive and quick. He also memorized our big order without writing it down! Props to him!!

The server was attentive and friendly. The food coming out fast and tasty. The atmosphere was great with good music.

The food blew me away! I lived in southeast Louisiana for 15 years. Not that I'm some Cajun food critic, but I've often been let down by any Cajun food outside of that area. I was really impressed with the food. We ordered char broiled oysters which were very good. Fried shrimp po-boy for me and I loved it. That's comfort food for me. My wife got the seafood gumbo which was excellent and we also shared the garlic noodles with sausage and shrimp which blew me away. Then we finished it off with an order of beignets that would rival cafe du monde. I would highly recommend this place and we will absolutely be visiting Roux again.

This is a hidden gem. Looks very nondescript from the outside. Inside is quite charming. Service was excellent. (Special shout out to Chris for being so kind and friendly.) Food overall was tasty. (4.4/5) Appetizer: Spinach and artichoke dip Would have liked the dish to be a bit warmer. Also having the cheese more integrated into the mixture would have been nice. But it was still enjoyable. Appetizer: veggie eggrolls They were fried well. Not greasy and not dripping with oil. The vegetables were well flavored and received a serving of four. Entree: Chilean Sea Bass with Creamy Lemon White Wine sauce paired with mixed veggies. The Seabass came pan seared. It had a really tasty rich flavor. Buttery smooth texture and perfectly seasoned. It came with two large grilled shrimps and the vegetables were broccoli, carrots, and cabbage. I only wish the portion size was larger. Dessert: fried banana with vanilla ice cream This was a perfect end to the dinner. Semi sweet with a light dusting of powdered sugar paired with ice cream. Random note: the outside is decorated with oyster shells. I guess after they've been used, they clean them and chuck them outside!

I came here with friends to hangout and it was such a great time with delicious food and great customer service. I shared a 3lb seafood boil with a friend and it was filling!! The shrimps are big and the sausage links are thick. The fried banana dessert was a nice finishing touch to the meal. Nathan was the best server and really made sure we were taken care of. Will definitely be back :)

Great date spot. Good service. Came in and immediately greeted by server and seated shortly after. They have both indoor seating and outdoor covered seating options for those who prefer the al fresco route. Menu is extensive and there is soemthing for everyone. We had the carpaccio for appetizer and then gumbo and shrimp etouffe for mains. Took a while for them to prepare (so don't come here if you're in a hurry) but when it came out everything was cooked right, seasoned well and tasted great! FYI- it's kid friendly they have food options for a kids meal. While we didn't try it, wanted to mention. It's also wheelchair friendly. They also have a special events room in case you want to book for a private party. The decor is nice and the place is clean and well maintained for special occasions. Easy to find, ample parking. Great little gem!

Birthday dessert

Yummy food! Happy service, very attentive, and an easy place to have a conversation. Thank you Roux for an ending of a fantastic birthday with a fantastic meal and dessert.

A side order or red beans and rice, I absolutely will go back for just this

10 out of 10 a Cajun must try!! A group of went here for "Fat Tuesday" and this place did not disappoint. They have their own dedicated parking lot, plenty of seating with comfortable chairs and booth options. The servers were attentive and friendly and the food.. OMG everything was perfect!! If you like spicy Cajun food or seafood you must try this place at least once!!

The food is still great. I've been here about a handful of times over the past yr. I would say our fav dishes are the shrimp etouffe (broth is amazing!!!), jambalaya, garlic noodles with shrimp and sausage and the Mardi Gras pasta. Service is still super friendly. I forget her name but the waitress/hostess always does an excellent job. It's a really nice mom and pop spot. If I lived closer I would go more often.

Backstory: when my wife and I first started dating we went to a restaurant that coincidentally was called Rue that was also Cajun and was amazing (no pressure). My family and I came to celebrate our 3 yr wedding anniversary. The restaurant definitely gives the nawlins vibe when we walked in, that also looks great as a date spot. Our server was super attentive and was super mindful that when our baby was sleeping he even filled our waters away to reduce the sound which was really thoughtful. We ordered the New Orleans gumbo, fried calamari, Jambalaya, and the Mardi Gras pasta. One previous concern I had previously with Cajun food in California was that it wasnt seasoned well. Well, NO WORRIES HERE! Everything tasted amazing. If you're looking for authentic Cajun, you'd roux the day for not for visiting! Let's go!!

Second, they are not stingy with the lobster. Every bite actually has lobster in it, not just filler. Everything was rich, fresh, and super satisfying. The bisque and chowder were the perfect add ons and the pasta and mac and cheese just took it over the top. The vibe is really cute too. It gives under the sea meets Fisherman's Wharf. It was busy while we were there mid afternoon with only one open table most of the time. The food is good but definitely has some small things to work on. The mac and cheese was very watery. The cali lobster rolls we tried were great but the classic butter lobster roll was dry and missing the butter. The grilled cheese and the quesadilla were just alright. We will definitely be back to try more things on the menu. Just excited there is finally a local place to get decent lobster rolls at. My recommendation would be to focus on the lobster rolls and tacos. ditch the quesadillas grilled cheeses and lobster fries.

They give you the option of either a 4oz or 6oz, priced at $34 and $49. It's a Connecticut style roll made with buttered lobster on a toasted brioche bun. It also comes with a side of fries and you can choose your choice of seasoning, "Chef's way" or "Maine style." The roll is pretty expensive but honestly worth it in my opinion because of how much lobster they pack into it. The brioche bread was perfectly toasted. The lobster was fresh and buttery without making the bread soggy, even after pouring extra melted butter on top. This is definitely the best lobster roll I've had.

5-Star Review: Shuck Oyster Bar in Costa Mesa - Absolutely Outstanding Seafood Experience!…read moreI recently visited Shuck Oyster Bar in Costa Mesa (located at 3313 Hyland Ave suite C 21), and wow - it exceeded every expectation! If you're a seafood lover, especially oysters or creative tacos, this place is a must-try. We started with the oysters from Washington - a beautiful variety platter of four different types. Each one was fresher and more incredible than the last, with that perfect briny pop and clean finish. They were absolutely amazing and easily some of the best I've ever had. Then came the tacos, and they stole the show. The lobster tacos were out of this world - on a completely different level! Tender, flavorful lobster with perfect seasoning and toppings that made every bite pure bliss. The fish tacos were excellent - fresh, crispy, and perfectly balanced. And don't sleep on the shrimp tacos either; they were delicious and rounded out an epic trio. The calamari was some of the best I've ever tasted - light, crispy, and not greasy at all. We also got the lobster roll, which was again on another level - generous portions of sweet lobster in a buttery roll that was just heavenly. To top it off, the fish and chips were spot-on: crispy batter, flaky fish, and that classic satisfaction. A great touch was the cucumber-infused water - so refreshing and a nice thoughtful detail. The atmosphere is fantastic: chill vibe, not too noisy, and since we went before noon, it wasn't busy at all - perfect for a relaxed meal. The service was friendly and attentive. Overall, Shuck Oyster Bar is now one of my absolute number-one go-to spots in Orange County. I can't wait to come back - probably very soon! If you love oysters, fresh seafood, or just great food in a cool setting, you've gotta try this place. Highly recommend to friends, family, and anyone who appreciates quality seafood. 10/10 - we'll be regulars!
