I honestly almost gave this place a 5 star review until I went up to pay my bill at the end and this place showed they're just another stereotypical terrible Vietnamese-style customer service place. Location is perfect - on Brookhurst in a great Vietnamese plaza off McFadden with tons of other great businesses around as well. Came here on Sunday of Labor Day weekend for dinner with a friend. We conveniently arrived around 430pm, and they surprisingly have Happy Hour on weekends as well. We ordered the Deep-fried salmon bellies, Oxtail tacos, Garlic noodles, Oysters, and later Whole Mussels Skillet all from their Happy Hour menu. We were pretty excited since they looked like really good deals. Salmon bellies, oxtail tacos, and Whole Mussels Skillet were all good. Garlic noodles - bland, needs more seasoning and greens with them such as cilantro and green onions, more cheese - something. Service - a young boy and girl, Mason and another girl helping us were very sweet. And to what made you guys lose 3 stars - "Oyster (Oyster minimum order is 1 dozen) $2" My friend and I thought this was some Happy Hour only special promo, so cool. I asked and they're just raw oysters - honestly they weren't that good, should've been cooked and seasoned in some way. Basically they didn't have to try much for these, besides ensuring they're clean and safe for consumption, but I thought it was a good deal so worth a shot trying. Then I got the bill and was like WTF? And the worse part was the lady's attitude about it, saying how it's common sense (ie you're stupid for not understanding). The obvious right way to write that is "Platter of a Dozen Oysters $24 and $2 for each additional oyster", not "Oyster (minimum a dozen) $2" - WTF, and she acted like I'm the first to call her out on that. Said she can't do anything, it's obvious, but sure she can tell someone to make a note to update the menu and seemed to roll her eyes. Mason, the young server was nice and understanding, but I couldn't stand the basic Vietnamese woman with HEAVY makeup working at the front. My friend I had dinner with found her extremely rude too. Would I come back? Not likely anymore. Would I recommend them? If you're willing to pay for nice ambiance, decent food, but GOD-AWFUL SERVICE, then be my guest. One of the reasons we wanted to visit this restaurant was to try the NOLA Grilled Oyster Combo ($69.99). Along with that, our table also ordered: the quail with sticky rice ($20.99), salted fish and shrimp fried rice ($24.99), shaken beef with garlic noodles ($22.99), bok choy with sautéed garlic ($12.99), a hot tea ($4.00), Coca-Cola ($5.50), a mojito ($15.00), and a margarita ($15.00). With tax ($17.71), our ticket was $209.16 before gratuity. The NOLA Grilled Oysters come sizzling on a hot griddle, with four different fillings, four pieces each, for a total of 16 oysters. The price might seem a bit indulgent, but not if you consider the effort and ingredients that go into this presentation. Each type was flavorful, and there wasn't a single one I didn't enjoy. The salted fish fried rice was an interesting experience. I enjoyed the dish, though the salted fish was less salty than I expected. Someone in our group, who usually doesn't like salted fish fried rice because they find it too salty, actually liked this version for its milder flavor. The plate also includes four large shrimp. The shaken beef was tasty and tender; the garlic noodles were al dente and had just enough garlic--not excessive. The sautéed garlic added a smoky, nutty taste to the bok choy. The quail was marinated well and tasted good--but I wonder if it was fried just a bit too long. After this meal, I chatted with a friend who lives in the community. He'd been to this spot before but dismissed it as just another seafood boil joint. After our conversation, though, he said he'd be willing to give it another shot. Came here for my dad's birthday because he heard good things. I was a bit put off because there's no air conditioning (or at least not on when we went in the August heat) and so it was really hot inside the restaurant. It's always a bit weird to eat seafood in the heat, especially if you're not near the beach lol. The service was great though, they were very kind, attentive, and did offer free ice cream at the end of our meal because it was so hot. The food was pretty good. Destination Seafood is officially a new favorite. Hours are 12 PM - 9 PM (Monday-Sunday), except Thursdays when they are closed. I love the music and the vibe here. The atmosphere is welcoming, and the space is clean, spacious, and comfortable, never cramped or chaotic. Our server, Aidan, was genuinely kind and attentive, which always sets the tone for a great experience. The food came out fresh and hot, and what I appreciated most was that it wasn't overly salty like many seafood spots can be. The sides were delicious. This is the spot for loaded oysters! They have a Nola Grilled Oysters Combo where you get a platter of 16 sizzling oysters brought to your table on a hot skillet (4 flavors each). The flavors include buttery lobster, cajun crab, green onions, and elote. The oysters are plump and juicy, and I really enjoyed all of the toppings! I would come back for these! They also have a variety of other seafood dishes. They have different seafood boil options. I got the Stone Crab Combo with stone crab, garlic noodles, corn, sausage, and potato. They give a good amount of crab, but I think the garlic noodles could have been a little more flavorful. I like that the combo already comes with the side items, so you don't have to order them separately like at other seafood boil places. Lobster Rolls are not bad. I first came in super happy when I realized that the ayce was not possible because I came in with my partner who was not craving the seafood boil rather another item on the menu . As we were contemplating what to get the lady keeps pressuring us to order something and almost yells at us for trying to get only one ayce. She walks by and gives a degrading look which makes me feel very comfortable which made me not support this corporation. Came here today for happy hour oysters which are $2 each. Unfortunately prices just increased from $1.50, but nonetheless we still wanted to try it out. The oysters were medium sized and very clean! This has been on my bucket list once I found out they had AYCE seafood boil, and that was a year ago. I came for dinner on Wednesday and it was slow. I love the vibe of the place. They had decorated for Lunar New Year. We feasted on the AYCE seafood boil Tier 1 which was $39.99 (includes choice of shrimp, crawfish, black mussels and unlimited sides). The first round we did all three with mild heat (plus sausage and corn in the cob) and for the sides we ordered garlic bread, corn, edamame, Cajun fries and vanilla ice cream (which is also unlimited!). Btw they had us share from one bag which was fine and I was surprised to not have a bib. Everything was good but the shrimp was the best; we had a second round of that. Had high hopes for this place but left quite disappointed. Came on a weekend night and the restaurant had only 2-3 tables at the time. We opted for the $1.50 happy hour oysters to start. The oysters were very tiny and in no way fresh. Seems like they reuse the shells and put canned or jarred oysters on it instead. For one, the oyster was off the shell when we got it.. Next we ordered razor clams. Taste was decent be size was small for the cost of $20.99. We later found that two razor clams were stacked to each other to deceive the look of one longer/bigger looking razor clam instead. Proceeded to ask the manager who replied it's just whatever shipment size arrives. There were a total of 5 stacked razor clams. It's definitely pricier than most other restaurants for the quality and quality of it. Finally, we also ordered the seafood bucket which was supposed to include 1/2 a snow crab (it was definitely frozen), 1 lobster tail (tiny and frozen), 1lb shrimp (digestive tract still intact, giving a sandy gritty texture), 2 corns, 2 fist sized potatoes (kid you not by fist sized), 2 pieces of sausage (like really... 2 slices of sausage), 2 sodas, and ice cream (which were never given to us) It's understandable that businesses may not be doing so well in the time and economy, but deceiving paying customers are only gonna make the situation worse. I've been here once before, but recently took my dad and bro here for my dad's birthday. Its a good size restaurant, nicely decorated and clean. Lots of seafood options. Between 3 people we got the mango squid salad, escargot, ship wreck platter which comes with a variety of grilled seafood and grilled corn, Thai style hot pot, and rice. I did pay $11 for a coconut ice cream coffee and it was worth it to try. I dont know how they make their coffee but I swear it had a slight taste of whisky or Henny but I ain't complaining. I dont usually eat escargot but I was able to eat a few here. Their ship wreck platter was expensive at $80 and their Thai hot pot was $52. I didn't bother to look at prices until after. A lot of the dishes you order here you can get for half the price somewhere else, but I guess it's for the dining experience. With tip, the lavish meal came out to $260 which is high for dining in this area. The prices alone wouldn't keep me away but im not sure if ill come back a lot. Maybe once in awhile. We saw advertisements of this restaurant on Facebook and Instagram, and they made it look so appealing. We ordered the fried quails and seafood salad from the menu. Off the menu, we ordered the baked seafood combo and the garlic crab combo. Here comes the verdict... The fried quails were very crispy, a bit salty, but the spicy dipping sauce was really good. The seafood salad was not what we expected. It was beautifully presented in a pineapple "bowl." Sadly, the bowl was very shallow and barely had anything in it. The salad was basically a bunch of red onions, carrots, pieces of sliced pineapple, microscopic sized squids, red clams, and 4 shrimp. This was definitely not worth $26.99!!!!! The naked seafood combo and the garlic crab combo were nicely flavored, but overly greasy. The crab tasted old, overcooked, and really dry. These 2 dishes were what lured us to the restaurant. We felt misled...For $29.99 each, the portions were really small! Definitely false advertisement, because they claimed to be the best seafood with the best deal in OC. Not true!! Overall, the only dish that we enjoyed were the crispy quails. Everything else was a thumbs down! The restaurant itself had a very inviting entrance. Service was just ok. Note, if you pay by credit card, they make you pay at the counter. I thought that was a bit odd. You'd think they would have the technology to ring you up and bring the receipt to the table for you to sign. Very open & spacious. Beautiful Christmas decor right in the center as you walk in. We were very excited to try them out but were left disappointed. Tier 1 didn't have much to choose from so we went with Tier 2 for $79.99 per person. Included with the package is 1 snow crab, 1 stone crab, 1 lobster tail & a couple of baby octopus. Unlimited shrimp, oyster, crawfish, mussels, non seafood sides and cocktails. The sauce was very buttery, garlicky and tasted more like chili oil. It was missing the cajun factor. Did not coat the seafood well. Crawfish is not in season so it was super soft & of course didn't taste fresh. The lobster tail was the most flavorful. Crabs were decent. Raw oysters were good. All other seafood on the list was just alright. As for sides we ordered cajun fries, street corn and spicy edamame. Nothing special to any of these items. I ordered 1 Dragon Fruit Lychee cocktail. Warning: it's a pretty strong drink. I don't have any complaints regarding service. We were too full to have any dessert. The owner made sure to offer us a couple of times some ice cream before we paid for our check which we kindly refused. Saw this place on instagram reels and was a little skeptical but the ayce seafood boil and unlimited oysters and drinks is legit! The spice levels were less spicy than other places so medium is like mild and spicy is like medium. Waiter and owner were very nice and helpful but not in the scary overbearing way. I went on Monday afternoon when places aren't crowded so it was a chill experience. They gave us a whole paper towel roll, trays, and seasonings on the side for our seafood boil.
