Receipt. Proof of visit. Party of 5.

The food was excellent. The beef, pork belly, and chicken were delicious. They have high quality beef here such as wagyu and beef toro. The meat may arrive thin and small, but will grow in size in the soup. So order the quantity carefully. The service was responsive. The ambiance is nice and it's a big location. It was a good Mother's Day for me.

I remember Shabuya being very popular 5 years ago. Haven't been here in a while and it's still good, but not as good as I remember. I will say it is great value for AYCE hotpot! The hotpot items seem very limited compared to other hotpot places. Missing some of my favorites such as quail eggs, kabocha squash, enoki mushroom... though they do have the best sauce bar situation. You can't really make a bad dipping sauce here. The Yuzu sauce and Goma are fantastic!! Meat quality was good but sides are limited as well - karaage chicken or fried gyoza! My conclusion is Shabuya offers limited variety with decent execution, but it is a bit boring in terms of AYCE selection. Host was super friendly and servers were attentive. Would only come back because someone else wants to eat here. Please bring back capsaicin extract.

Very spacious interior with a self-serve sauce and side dish stand. Meat quality was okay, you pay for what you get as their lunch deal is quite good. My issue was getting gaslighted several times -- I had ordered the sukiyaki broth and let the server know he gave me the miso one instead. He then gave me a new broth and insisted it on being sukiyaki when it tasted like miso again. /: I ended up switching broths with my friend since we were too far into the meal to leave but won't be coming back.

Decent Shabu place for $29.99. They have everything you would want for Shabu. The only thing missing for me was a peanut sauce but they had plenty other ones. Meat selection was okay. The Beef Toro and Pork Shoulder were our favorite. Service was good too. They forgot about is for a bit but we just called someone over to help us. Shabuya is a chain and I've been to some that were terrible. Luckily this location was great!

I'm always up for trying a new shabu shabu restaurant, so some friends and I visited Shabuya for our weekly dinner. Shabuya is located at the end of a shopping center with plenty of parking. They do utilize a Yelp live waitlist which we took advantage of. I put us on the waitlist 15 minutes before our arrival, and we only had to wait a few minutes to be seated even though there were quite a few other people waiting. The inside is spacious with high ceilings. The booths and tables have good spacing, and everything was clean. There is a 1.5 hour dining limit. They have a good selection of five broths including original house, miso, spicy miso, tonkotsu, and sukiyaki. I always go with spicy miso and theirs is pretty mild. They have a good selection of meats including five types of beef, two types of pork, and chicken. The only meat they are missing from our regular shabu shabu place is lamb. The meats were very fresh, and our orders for more were delivered quickly. Empty trays were also removed promptly. I really liked the setup of their sides bar. Our regular place has veggies and noodles on one side, and eggs, seafood, etc on the other side and there is often a line on both sides when it is busy. Both sides here have mostly the same items, and even though the restaurant was pretty full, there was never a line on either side. There is also a sauce station on both ends of the bar, so again there was no wait. Everything was fresh, and most item containers were near full. Their Asian chili sauce is HOT, much hotter than our normal place. I'm glad I tried some of it before asking for hot drops to add to my broth. Our server Danny was awesome. He was very friendly and fun, and took excellent care of us. I hope we get him again the next time we visit. We all really enjoyed our meal here, and $29.99 for AYCE shabu shabu of this quality with great service is a good deal.

Used to be my go to hot pot place but haven't been in quite some time. Our server was amazing and super considerate. Meat and sauces were good, but their salad/seafood bar could use some more options since both sides were basically the same. Would come back for the price if I'm in the area

Shabuya was so good! We went with a garlic based broth, made multiple trips to the buffet station for an assortment of vegetables and carbs, and ordered rounds after rounds of steak. The staff did a great job replenishing our hotpot broth and water. My personal favorite was making our own dipping sauces, since that really enhanced our steaks. The one thing that bothered me was that the waiter never mentioned that *they* have desserts. You have to ask for it yourself, otherwise they will not bring it up at all. It was kinda crazy that our waiter said that our guest can treat us out for dessert afterward, implying that dessert was elsewhere. Anyway, inside can be noisy because of the music and chattering, but it wasn't so bad.

Roseallday and the crew here are amazing. The food (broth, meats, seafood and veggies selections) blended together for an extremely enjoyable experience. Music playing, laughs and joy heard in the air. This place is awesome and can't wait to come back.

Came in with a 10 people group on a weekend. Go early and check in/make appt! Delish AYCE! You get your own personal broth pot to cook. Each meat plate has 4 slices of meat. What makes this place special is that they have clams, mussels, eggs(!!) and octopi at the veggie bar. Ponzu and yuzu are great to pair as refreshing sauces. Easy free parking in a shopping mall! The only concern is that we had to ask the server for tongs to pick up the raw meat(no cross contamination please), they weren't automatically given. Another negative at my table the burners were pretty slow to get to boil, the server said it's because I had tonkotsu flavor. Bonus: for birthday you can get a free drink (soda) if you let the server know!

We went to Shabuya and overall it was a really solid hot pot experience. We got seated super quickly, which was a great start. Everything is self-serve except for the meats, so you can move at your own pace and grab exactly what you want. The selection wasn't huge, but it was just enough to keep me happy without feeling overwhelming. Everything looked fresh, and I really liked that they had iced seafood, which made it feel cleaner and higher quality. For broth, we went with original and sukiyaki. The main difference was that the sukiyaki was a bit sweeter, which was nice for dipping meats and balancing out savory flavors, while the original stayed more clean and classic. We honestly went crazy with the meat; so many plates (as you can see in the pic). The meat was soft, tender, and really well-sliced. My favorite by far was #5, the prime flat iron steak; that one stood out the most. Super tender, great texture, and cooked perfectly in the broth. We also ordered the gyoza, which came fried and was actually really good: crispy on the outside and satisfying as a little side between hot pot rounds. Service was really quick, but you do have to flag down the waiters when you want more meat or help. they don't check in constantly. Once you get their attention though, they move fast. Overall, Shabuya was good, efficient, and satisfying; fresh ingredients, solid broths, great meat quality, and a smooth AYCE-style experience. Definitely a spot I'd come back to when I'm craving hot pot without the chaos.

Happy to announce we found our new Shabu spot! Everything from beginning to end was absolute perfection. I got on waitlist on Friday around 5:50. We got seated shortly after we arrived around 6:05. The hosts were friendly and welcoming. Our waitress was extremely sweet and thorough in explanation after we told her it was our first time here. She was a bit of a fast talker but I can roll with that. She was very helpful with choosing broths and meats as well. Everyone gets their own burner and pot and there is a self serve bar for veggies, noodles and additional add ins. We got the spicy miso and tonkatsu and the meats 1-5. Everything was high quality, flavorful and just simply delicious. They had a great selection of add ins at the bar and lots of sauces. I do wish they had kabocha pumpkin. Weirdly one of my favorite things lol, not a deal breaker though! There was lots of seating that was spread out enough. It got pretty busy but they seem efficient and well managed. It was also not too loud which is a plus for me. Price was on point as well!

Leilani was an amazing server at Shabu! She was very friendly, attentive, and made sure our whole table was taken care of the entire time. She checked in on us often, kept everything running smoothly, and had such a great attitude. You can tell she really cares about giving great service and making sure guests have a great experience. Because of her, our meal was even more enjoyable. We'll definitely be coming back and hope to have Leilani as our server again! If you want, I can also make you a shorter version for Google reviews those sometimes perform better

With the weather starting to cool, it's the beginning of the hot pot season. Shabuya is an AYCE hot pot chain with locations in Las Vegas and Honolulu; however, this location is in Fountain Valley. For $21 for weekday lunch or $30 for dinner, you get all you can eat meat, seafood, and veggies, which is a pretty good value. Beef/pork quality is good, and seafood is self-serve, so I generally pass on that. I personally don't prefer seafood that's been sitting out indefinitely; however, I'll use a few pieces of shrimp and shrimp balls to fortify the flavors of my broth. When you put in your order for meat, each "plate" of meat has three to four paper thin slices; therefore, each person in your group will likely have to order several plates to get their fill. Sauces are what really allow you to create flavor bombs for your meat and veg; however, they have limited options for spice and acid, and the garlic and sauce bases are quite watery/thin. On the other hand, I do like the meats and the unlimited self-serve veggies, and I'll always leave here full and content. I think that Shabuya is an OK option for AYCE hot pot, it's a good value option for unlimited meat/seafood/vegetable, and it's a crowd pleaser. For a better experience, I'd prefer more flavor options in the sauce bar. Note that wait times can be considerably long for a large group, so check in for your group with your yelp app as soon as you can.

Ask the Community - Shabuya

Do you have special prices for SENIORS?

Hi, sorry for the late response. We don't offer senior discounts at the moment.

How much for the regular?

The regular price for all-you-can-eat (AYCE) at Shabuya is typically $29.99 per person, though lunch specials may be available for a lower price, like $25.99. Prices can vary slightly by location and may also depend on the day of the week (weekday… Read more

How to make reservation?

You can try to call for a large party but, I don't think they really have reservations. Only waitlist on Yelp.

Is the a vegan broth option?

I believe the sukiyaki broth, the miso broth, and the water+dry kelp broth and the vegetarian broth are all vegetarian so there are several options. From the bar, there are plenty of veggie stuff - udon, ramen, multiple different types of tofu,… Read more

Does 12/31 have lunch menu or it's holiday menu?

Swai fish or fish fillet available here? Or specifically, what are the fishes serve here?

I believe Swai fish for the hotpot :) I always always get it. No fried fish here.

How much is it for lunch or dinner?

It's actually 20.99 for lunch and 29.99 for Dinner. Kids between 40-50 inches are 10.99

Is this location the same as Shabuya in LA and Alhambra? The menu appears slightly different.

They are from the same company but different locations will have different menu options

Do you still have outdoor seating as mentioned on your yelp page?

Shabuya doesn't have outdoor seating! That was when covid was around so they don't do it anymore

We want to visit on Saturday April 27, at 5pm. We'll have a large party of 10. Can you accommodate that? How do I enter in Yelp?

I believe parties of 7 or more you have to call in or if you join through yelp you put 7+.

Do they accept reservations?

No I don't believe they do however they have a Yelp waitlist

How do we contact you if when calling your store, it automatically hangs up?

Shabuya, Fountain Valley, phone service are currently down and it is unknown when they will get it fixed. The only way to ask questions is by going there physically and they are happy to help

Do you sell gift cards?

Yes! Shabuya sell gifts cards

What kind of sauce is served with the chicken karaage? Like what is in it?

There's different ones. One is like a spicy Mayo.

How do I contact the restaurant via phone? The number listed doesn't go through, and we're trying to make a reservation for a large party. Thanks!

From my understanding they do not accept reservations. But you can reserve your table via Yelp to get on the list. Or show up at open time to have a quick seating.

Can they do like noodles with garlic sauce?

This is not that kind of restaurant.

When is happy hour, and how much is it?

I don't think they have HH. They have lunch prices.

Do you still serve lunch, if so what is the price for that?

I believe it's still 19.99

Do they only accept credit cards? Do they accept debit?

I paid with debit

I think it's important to compare this to Ini ristorante because I think with this place being new that it is quite similar to Ini especially with the japanese italian fusion concept. We ordered 3 things - vongole pasta. Previously they offered it uni but this one had claims and shrimp. We also got the pesto and the calamari. Calamari was crispy but it also was slightly too salty and seemed to be a lot of batter. The calamari pieces were small. The pesto pasta was okay, but the pesto wasn't the traditional pesto. I couldn't put my finger on it but it must've been the dashi. The udon was cooked well though. Soft, definitely not al dente. This vongole was the biggest miss. It had a taste that we also couldn't figure out, but it was not enjoyable to eat. We left the meal very dissatisfied. The friend I went with, who has gone before, also agreed it was disappointing. As someone who hates to waste food, we were very close to leaving nearly half of each dish there. My friend ended up taking it back. Later that evening, we both were feeling off. Idk, perhaps it was a coincidence. In the end, it was a truly sad experience.

When I got back to work in Santa Ana and opened my bag around 2:30 p.m., my ramen had NO NOODLES. It was literally just broth and toppings. I called the restaurant expecting a simple apology and a reasonable solution. Instead, the manager would not even speak to me directly and chose to communicate through a waiter the entire time, which made the situation even more frustrating. We went back and forth multiple times with the waiter acting as the middleman. First, they told me I could come back and pick up the missing noodles. That was not realistic. I was already back at work, and it takes me about 25 minutes to get from Fountain Valley to Santa Ana. Driving all the way back for a side of noodles made no sense. So I asked for what seemed like the easiest and most reasonable solution: a complimentary bowl of ramen on my next visit. Instead, I was told no, but they could give me "extra noodles" next time. Extra noodles next time? What exactly was that supposed to do for me when I was sitting there hungry with no actual ramen to eat that day? Then the manager, again through the waiter, said she would personally drive noodles to my job. I even told them that did not make sense because by the time she got there, it would be around 4:30 p.m. At that point, my lunch break would be long over, the ramen would be cold, and all of it would be a waste of my time, her time, restaurant resources, and gas. But I agreed, because at that point it was obvious they really did not want to simply offer me a free bowl of ramen on my next visit. And to be clear, I was not asking for some huge free meal. I was asking to be compensated for the ramen I already paid good money for and did not even receive correctly. For how expensive ramen is, that should not have been a difficult ask. About 10 minutes later, the waiter called back and said the manager would give me a free bowl of ramen next time I came in, which was the exact solution I had suggested from the start. I can only assume she realized how far the drive was and how unnecessary and impractical that solution would have been. Mistakes happen. Forgetting the noodles was one thing. But the way this was handled was unnecessarily difficult, inconvenient, and honestly kind of absurd. I did not ask for a refund. I was looking for an apology and some common-sense customer service. Instead, I got a lot of back-and-forth and a manager who would not even speak to me directly. Kudos to the waiter for doing their best to mediate the situation. Even they thought the situation could of been handled differently by the manager. Very disappointing experience. I will not be returning, and I would not recommend this place to others based on how this situation was handled.

Bao and Cal Shabu for the win, man. This is my new go-to for Shabu. Heard about this place, made…read morethe drive out from Echo Park... Worth every mile and cent. From the quality of the food to the taste to the service to the parking. All of it is A+. Bao and the young-lady that was on shift that day were all class and made the experience well worth it. We went with the King Kong order of the prime. Everything was super fresh and delicious. The sauces mixed takes everything to a 5 star rating for me. We will for sure be making the drive out here again. Thanks, Bao!!!

We stopped in here because we were going to a different place that we thought was closed and Shabu…read moresounded good and healthy enough. We found out this place is family owned for almost 30 years and one of the original in the area. The gentleman was very nice. Service was 100% excellent. We ordered two of the ribeye plates and had a dish of vegetable vegetables with some noodles on the side as part of our meal. This is a traditional Japanese style Shabu and if you want a different broth as an upgrade for it. The vegetable you get is what you get without refills and everything is all the cart. This place, reminds me a little bit of mojikiko Shabu except they actually give you unlimited vegetables. The meal I had was good. The service was excellent and the place is clean with individual table top seating. I'm not sure if I'll be back because the food is not really in line with what my boyfriend likes, but for me, it was good.
