I thought my Caucasian wife was seeing things until I started paying attention to who was being seated in our area versus the main dining area. 2. A lot of the sliced beef selections were frozen to their metal serving dishes. My wife and I had to prop the metal plates on the broth pot to thaw enough to remove the meat slices. 3. My wife trued the kumquat slushy, and that has now become her favorite beverage there. We're hoping this flavored slushy is always offered! I really think all the Chubby Group restaurant reviews are planted or compensated because no way was this a 5 star experience. I had a reservation and had to wait at least 10 minutes for the hostess to come and seat us. Then it took another 10 minutes for someone to even come to our table, explain the menu and take our order. Considering this is a restaurant that has a time limit for dining, we were not happy about this. The quality of meat and buffet items were average to below average. Some of the buffet items were not refilled and empty for long periods of time. I definitely would not waste my time waiting even an hour to eat here. Not sure I would even come back. read more

The servers come around asking if we want to add water to the broth which then makes the broth taste bland and then get salty again as it boils and loses its flavor. The restaurant is an elevated shabu shabu factory. I was really glad I got to go with family. My mom had found it on yelp and we were blown away by the variety of dishes that were there. For special occasions this is the place to go as you will see the pictures attached to this review. You will notice that each food is prepared with great thoughtfulness. There's regular upkeep of the area. They also said there's some servers who are very fun and other servers who are respectful of the precious time you get to spend with your loved ones at the table. Whoever you get I hope you enjoy the company. Our family certainly enjoyed ours! Okay this place is actually worth the hype. The quality of the meat is insane. It melts in your mouth. You can really taste the difference, especially if you're into wagyu. The vibe is nice but not overly fancy, which I liked. It feels a little upscale but still comfortable enough to just chill with friends. I would have given this place a much higher rating if my stomach didn't hurt insanely BAD for the next 2 days. We got here before it opened, and it already had a long Yelp waitlist. We were pretty high on the waitlist, and the only reason it took so long to get seated was that the staff took FOREVER to prepare the tables. You can choose 1 hot pot broth, and I chose the Tonkatsu. It didn't have much flavor, so I utitlized the sauce. There are many options of Wagyu beef and since you can get it by yourself, you don't have to wait for the waiter to bring it to you, which was a plus. The flavor and quality of the beef was solid. The Wagyu beef is the main reason to come! There was also hot food (which I think was the main reason my stomach hurt). The nigiri was eh since the fish on top of the rice was cooked and not raw. They had some BBQ Short Ribs that were super overcooked and hard. Desserts were not good. I tried the Strawberry Mousse and Tiramisu Mousse which both had a weird texture and tasted super artificial. The Earl Grey Roll was okay, and the ice cream was meh. A little disappointing but I guess that you don't come here for the desserts. Overall, I would have given this place a higher rating, but because my stomach hurt so bad after, I can't justify a good rating. We came here for our Valentine's Day dinner with the kids (but not on Valentine's Day obviously because we wanted to skip the crowd). Hahaha that's what happens when you get old! They have good quality meat, a variety of veggies and sides, and the service was great! The ambiance, design, especially the layout is very modern, organized and the staff/service was impressive. My only feedback is that the meats ran out fast but refilled within minutes. I would come back here again, it is a cheaper option than Chubby Cattle and the line isn't out the door. My friends and i came here on a saturday night and did not have a great experience. We were on the yelp waitlist for over an hour, then when we got the text that our table was ready we had to wait in the restaurant for another 15 minutes. We got seated at around 8:30 and alot of the hot bar foods were not stocked and the sauce area was a huge mess with many of the bins not having labels. The broths we got were sukiyaki and tonkatsu which were both misses. For one, they took 10-15 minutes to come out and another 10-15 minutes to start boiling. This limited our time to eat greatly. The sukiyaki was overly sweet and the tonkatsu tasted very gamey. Additionally, between 4 people you can only get 2 broths which limited our selection. By around 9:15 when we were ready for our next round of meat, there was no meat in the meat section. I asked a waiter why and they said the meat slicer was broken. However the meat was not refilled for the rest of the night, essentially making our ayce experience very not ayce. The only items left to eat were the fried chicken nuggets, fries, and some dim sum. Furthermore, the waiter lady pressured us to close out our check before we even asked for it even though it was about 30 minutes before closing time and we were still fully eating. They also started cleaning up all the food at 9:30 even though they close at 10. I wish this was disclosed to us prior to us getting seated because we would not have proceeded with dining here if we knew we had less than an 1 hr to eat and could only get 1 round of meat. Overall i feel like we truly did not get our money's worth and we will not be back. I am also turned off from trying other chubby group establishments. I recommend dada or all that shabu if you are looking for better, higher quality hot pot. read more

Pricing depends on day and time of day. Quality is all excellent. Grab a bit of everything to try, then more of what you like. After X Pot in Rowland Hts closed, we definitely missed having a high quality hot pot spot from the Chubby Cattle group. So when we heard they introduced a new AYCE concept with a more approachable price point, we knew we had to check it out at Wagyu Factory. Even though the Tustin location is a bit of a drive for us, it turned out to be well worth the trip. Variety is absolutely the star here. The buffet lineup covers nearly everything you hope to see at an AYCE hot pot restaurant. Freshly sliced meats with different fat levels, from leaner cuts to rich, marbled options. A wide range of vegetables, mushrooms, and ready to eat cold and hot dishes to snack on while your pot gets going, surprisingly solid dim sum selections, and soft drinks are included, making the experience feel even more complete. After choosing your soup base from the tablet, you head straight to the buffet area. Starting with appetizers, both chilled and hot, and it helps pace the meal before diving into the real star, the meat. The beef selection is excellent, whether you want something lighter or more fatty, there is an option to match your mood. The self serve sauce bar is another highlight, letting you customize dipping sauces exactly how you like them, garlicky, spicy, sesame, or all of the above. I came on a Sunday night, didn't have to wait too long to be seated for two people (around 20 mins max). Hostess was friendly and our waiter explained the menu to us as it was our first time. He also walked us through getting the app which gave us the option to get a free A5 beef which was nice. We opted for the standard menu which was 43.99 for members and 49.99 for nonmembers on the weekend. I got the tomato broth which was light and tangy. The interior was nice and clean. There were many booth tables for various sized parties and the atmosphere wasn't super loud. The front part of the restaurant when you come in is also where all the sections for picking your dimsum, seafood, meat, veggies, desserts and side dishes are. Overall I thought the meat quality was good for ayce places. The veggies were fresh and area was kept pretty clean. It was mostly the staples such as mushroom, various cabbages, and squash just to name a few. The sauce bar was decent with many staples like sesame oil, chili oil, radish, garlic, and sesame sauce to name a few. Overall an enjoyable ayce experience our server did check in with us a few times to make sure we had everything we needed and refilled our broth. I would come again. It's an AYCE Wagyu hot pot place located in Tustin, and they have some of the best meat AND side options I've had at a hot pot place. I went around 7 pm and waited about half an hour on a weekday. The service is great here, I felt like the waiters were pretty nice and friendly, coming by every now and then to check up and take any orders that needed to be cooked in the kitchen. There's two menus sort of, there's the base one which is normally $46 per person, not counting lunch and any member discounts, and then a premium upgraded menu that adds premium seafood basically, for $100 per person. The normal menu gets you a lot, such as just access to everything you see. The meat selection was amazing, but I thoroughly enjoyed the sides 10x more. There were Wagyu sliders, Wagyu steak (an item you order from the kitchen), corn cheese, you name it. You also can choose from milk teas and lemonade slushes like at Chubby Cattle, which is nice. Everything, taste wise, felt like it was worth it and was a great experience to have. Overall I would hiiighly recommend Wagyu Factory for a dinner night out or anything really. The menu is amazing and the food was so good here. Especially the sides. It is AYCE and I loved the huge selection of meat, seafood, vegetables, appetizers, drinks, and sauces. They have large variety of high quality meat. I really don't understand how this place has such good reviews. Finally got to try this place today. We came with high expectations but was left wanting in everything with the exception of the meat. We arrived a little before they opened for lunch on Friday so we were seated very quickly once they opened. The server explained that if we sign up on the app as a member, we can get a free plate of wagyu. I showed him my app and he clicked through it really quickly to get my free plate of wagyu and scan my QR code for points. Then he went through the tablet for ordering at the speed of light. I barely caught all the information before he went off to set up another table. Long story short, we never got the free wagyu plate that he "helped" us order. We tried the sukiyaki, Hokkaido seafood, and tom yum broths. My daughter and I usually get the plain dashi broth at all the other shabu places but they did not have any mild broths other than plain water, so I asked for the sukiyaki broth to be diluted with half water for my daughter. I don't think they diluted it at all and the broth was too strong. Although my seafood broth had good flavor, the broth was also too thick and strong for my taste. I ended up having to add cold water to it on my own when most of my broth evaporated because the servers do not come to check on your broth levels. They were also too busy with all the tables that it was hard to flag down anyone. We were excited for the included drinks but unfortunately, all the slushies and milk teas were super sweet. They do not have any unsweetened drinks/teas except for water. It would be better if they have at least one unsweetened tea. The included meats were great and I do appreciate that they have various fatty and lean cuts for you to choose from. Unfortunately, there was no pork available when we went. The veggie selection is not as extensive as other places but what they did have was good and fresh. They had various sauces and cooked foods as well. I did not think the cooked foods were anything special and the one garlic scallop with vermicelli I tried had hard undercooked vermicelli that was inedible. My biggest disappointment though was with their ponzu sauce. It was not regular ponzu sauce. It was thick and super salty and tasted more like soy sauce than anything else. I even double checked the sauce bar to make sure I didn't get soy sauce on accident. I was not able to enjoy the food much because everything tasted so overly strong (broth, sauces, drink sweetness), and there was nothing mild to balance the flavors. Additionally, the booths are extremely poorly designed. The tables are not movable, which makes sense, but the booth benches are movable. However, the spacing of the booths are too wide and people sharing our boothed bench behind us pulled the bench closer to their table, which left us with a huge gap between our bench and the table. Unless you want to play tug a war for the bench with the people behind you, you may be stuck eating very far away from your table like us. My daughter's favorite food is hot pot and she asks to go to hot pot every week. This was the first time she said she did not like a hot pot restaurant. My husband and I were also very disappointed with the food and experience and we will not be coming back. There are much better places in Irvine with better pricing, food and service. read more

Came for dinner tonight and while there was a lot to like about this place, there's certainly a lot of room for improvement. Wagyu factory is located in The District near the AMC side of the plaza. There's a ton of parking and even $5 valet if you're inclined. The restaurant does reservations and uses Yelp's waitlist feature, so be sure to take advantage of that. The restaurant is new and deceptively large, but did still feel cramped with all of the food stations packed into the middle as soon as you enter. The staff were all so friendly, and our server was so wonderful and welcoming. That being said, this place was so understaffed; our server was having to tend to a whole area herself and with so many large parties that we had to wait for extended periods of time for items like the check or refills on broth. I don't blame our server for this, but rather poor personnel planning by management. On the food front, we got the classic buffet and tried the Szechuan, Tom Yum, and Spicy Miso broths. The Szechuan and Tom Yum were both really good, but the Spicy Miso tasted like Char Siu sauce (and not in a good way). The beef options were pretty good, but some of the cuts weren't very tender and didn't taste premium. While I appreciated the variety and customization you could do for your sauces, it was disappointing to see nearly half the hot items not be available to eat, with so many stations being straight up empty. The ice cream machine was broken, which seems to be a trend here. Logistically, there needs to be more access to plates and bowls at each station as well, I found myself having to go to one station to get a plate because the other stations didn't have any plates, nothing was very intuitive. Overall, this place has a lot of potential but has to work on their staffing and logistics to really shine. You're offering a premium meal, so it should be expected that you're providing all of the items you have to offer, with the best service possible.
