I'd round my 4.5 up to a 5. The owners were incredibly kind and took the time to answer all of our questions from how best to enjoy the fish to explaining what they currently had in stock. We ordered the toro, tuna, salmon, and yellowtail and I can definitely see myself coming back here often. If I'm being completely honest, the toro didn't quite meet my expectations, which is the only reason I hesitated to give it a perfect score. That said, the salmon and especially the yellowtail were outstanding, it was fresh, flavorful, and everyone enjoyed it. I'm already looking forward to coming back to try the shrimp or scallop next time. Currently most items are frozen but I hope they can offer some fresh options to better enjoy day off and smaller quantities (half pounds) so I can buy a little bit of everything. Wow wow wow Came in a few weeks early to reserve some kumo oysters for Christmas and when I came in today, Christmas Eve, I got Peruvian scallops, masago, horseradish and cocktail shrimp sauce as well. Boy, Sicilian Italians are all about seafood and it pleased the crowd and everyone was happy how fresh and amazing the scallops and oysters were! A hit for a gathering and a reasonable prices! Got 5 lbs crawfishs today and I'm VERY HAPPY with what I got. The crawfishs are HUGE like baby lobsters. This place would see me more often as I get crawfishs from now on; next time I would get a box (10 lbs) instead of a bag of 5 lbs. These are so much better than the shrimps I got at Costco. I am done with this place after an awful oyster experience. I bought a box of oysters from this place before with a good experience. I came back today and made a smaller purchase. Instead of getting a whole box, I opted for 30 Kussi oysters at $2 a piece. I can tell you the damn oysters were mostly almost dead. It's the type where you eat the first piece, almost threw up, and hesitated to try a 2nd piece. If you do buy oysters here, just go for the whole box. After this bad experience and the outrageous price, I don't know about coming back again. read more

Had a potluck to attend, so stopped by here for some Peruvian scallops on a half shell. They now sell a pack of 1 dozen scallops for $15, which is great because I just paid $26 for 5 Peruvian scallops at a restaurant. Don't forget to get some of their fresh wasabi packet for $5 - this really elevates the dish, way way better than any tubed wasabi. We already had masago and ponzu so didn't need to pick those up, but they have it if you need. Simply rinse the scallops (helps remove the icy particles), and assemble. I promise you, this is always a hit at parties. Cash or credit card - they charge an extra 3% if you use card, so just bring cash. read more

We checked this place out before we even made a purchase. No regrets!! My number 1 place to go for fresh sushi quality sashimi in the OC. One try and got me hooked! Sea scallops are HUGE! Sashimi grade Salmon is legit at $9 lb. but it's not prepared for you. You have to take it home and slice, skinned, and cut it yourself. We get our lobster tails from here too. They are frozen but very fresh and lots of meat. Usually about $10 $12 a piece depends on size . Oysters are fresh and delicious also whole oysters, you got to clean and open it yourself. King Crab legs are also divine! Meat is so good. For Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners, we got all these yummy seafood from here. Danny and Diem are very helpful. Diem is very friendly and sweet, Danny, don't know when he's serious or joking with you... lol! My must stop in the OC for fresh seafood! What a great find. Been here a handful of times and I'd have to say I have never come across one person that was rude or not helpful I some way. Small shop but very clean and tons of items to choose from. Prices are clearly posted so there aren't any confusions. They take both cash and card but like any place they prefer cash. I've bought oysters from here depending on what kind they can range from $1 a piece to $1 and some change a piece. Uni is fresh but not always available so call ahead of time to see before making the trip. Scallops are amazing and so is their massage and fresh wasabi also recommend is their ahi tuna or toro Mmm Mmmm MMM!! My go to from now on for my oyster & uni needs. I used to go to restaurants and order oysters, which y'all know ain't cheap and if it's cheap it tastes cheap. I buy em from D&D Seafood and save a shuck load of money by cleaning and shucking it myself. I actually prefer to shuck, it's fun and rewarding. I like this place cuz he carries a wide variety and the ones I like too. I don't have to buy in bulk and eat the same oyster. One person eating friendly. On occassion I'll bring em to my friends' on a friday, they loooove how fresh they taste. That's coming from people who eat at 3-5 star restaurants. When uni is stocked I snag em, especially if they're delivered that day. Waaay fresher and better than the ones you get at the supermarket or many sushi restaurants. Beats a trip all the way to Santa Barbara. They also have wagyu and tomahawk steaks. Wagyu is cut to order. So you can get a thick or thinner slice. I'm a medium rare girl but I actually preferred the accidental medium well better (overcooked it in oven). The fat tasted better cooked that way. I split in two, was a big cut. I've had D&D Seafood on my mind for awhile but it wasn't until my friend said that I have to go like yesterday, lol. We browsed through their selection (I think about 4 freezers setup side by side) and ended up walking away with a slab of toro and about two dozen sashimi grade scallops. Danny was super helpful and knowledgeable on how to best enjoy our selections at home and loved his recommendations. We ate our scallops two ways - grilled and sashimi style (with a little roe, fresh wasabi, and a splash of ponzu). We had this on a Monday night and it felt like such a treat. For all of this, we walked out the door paying around $65 (we added roe and fresh wasabi to our purchase)... super affordable in my opinion! They have a vast selection of other seafood on hand including king crab legs, snow crab legs, and stone crab claws. We're eyeing their oysters (once we get a shucker), Chilean sea bass, and uni on our next visit. Parking on the street is a bit tight so be prepared to maybe circle the lot once or twice until you find the spot. Highly recommend giving this place a look! read more

First time coming here for HH. Nice decor, interior and bathroom were clean. We ordered the delicious raw oysters...can't beat their price, $1.50 each with minimum of a dozen per order during HH. The King crab legs special IMO weren't worth the $27.99 price because there were 3 skiny legs and two of them had off putting sections to eat, shriveled and tasted weird. I had to wait to ask for tools to open up the very spiny, prickly legs because 1 server was in the kitchen area and one teenage server was busy playing video games on his phone. I was in the mood to teach myself a new skill last weekend and decided to order an oyster shucking tool off Amazon in order to partake in an activity that I usually indulge in during happy hours (nicely shucked by someone else). Oyster shucker came and I opened my Yelp app immediately to scout out a worthy place with fresh oysters. This was a bigger hit than Santa Monica Seafood Market in Costa Mesa (around the area I live and much closer to me), so I thought it would be fun to venture out to scope out the fresh oyster scene around the Westminster area in OC. I called them up to make sure they still had some of the smaller oysters left (like Kumamotos and Shibumis) and heck yea they did. So off I went, got there and peered inside. It was busy, but I was greeted immediately by an energetic woman. I liked her already. She asked me what I was looking for and I told her I was in the mood for smaller oysters, hoping to get a dozen each of two kinds. She was still assisting a couple other customers so I thought I would wander around! I went to the back (receiving garage) and saw a man with a lot of tattoos shucking oysters like a badass - I asked him if it was okay for me to watch him for a bit since I have never shucked oysters before. He was happy to show me (in a slightly slow motion, bless his heart) and the energetic woman from front commented that this is a helpful lesson. Badass tattoo guy gave me some samples of the oysters he was shucking and they were delish - made me confident in buying 2 dozen oysters for myself to devour later on in the day. Paid and went on my way. Got home, turned on YouTube and learned how to shuck oysters in about 10 mins - their oysters were easy to shuck...that or I'm also becoming a badass oyster shucker ;) i will be back! read more

Was the fish fresh and service helpful? Yes. Will I ever do this again? No. I went to omakase once and figured I wanted to attempt what the sushi masters do, so I found this place with my sister on yelp and we gave it a try. When we walked in the storefront we immediately noticed the prices seemed to increase from what other reviews claimed-- salmon was $19/lb. The shop was empty so the man at the front helped us right away. It was our first time and to be honest his attitude was a little off putting. He seemed aggressive and when we asked him if we could order a half lb, he insisted it won't even feed one person. (It definitely was not too little for our family of 5 and we had a lot of left overs) We picked out a lb of toro and yellowtail from the freezer, and he sliced a lb of salmon fresh for us in the back. We also ordered a dozen kumamoto oysters as well as the frozen wasabi and masago. It all ended up being $107 ($105 because we paid in cash). Although he was aggressive at first, he did express a lot of concern when we began to ask about how to handle the fish to make sure it was good for tonight. He even said we could call him in case anything goes wrong. To be honest a lot went wrong: The toro was difficult to cut because it began to fall apart at the fatty streaks (which he warned us about). Shucking oysters was a lot harder than the videos made it out to be and we ended up using pliers to break the shell directly (lol). And it really was too much food and we didn't know how to store it for tomorrow. Overall the fish was really fresh and high quality! Stopped by this seafood market a while back and bought a box of oysters and a slab of toro. The staff was very friendly and offered to let me and my s/o sample each of the oysters that they had. All the oysters were good and fresh of course, but for some reason we couldn't tell the difference between their oysters...they all tasted the same. As for the toro, it didn't have much flavor. Overall, this market has a decent selection of packaged seafood, but probably not the place to go if you're looking for fresh off the boat seafood. read more
