I love it here! So many snacks, groceries, and food to buy. I always look forward to the fruit Sandos (10/10) about $5 ish dollars. The hot food is delicious! Service is fast and it's such a fun place to get lost in and explore. They have a seating area where you can eat what you bought.

I work down the street and whenever I don't bring lunch for myself, I end up here. In terms of fresh food, most people go for the sushi (which is great) but don't sleep on the hot food bar! My favorite is the unagi fried rice. Hits every time Another thing I've noticed is they are always well-staffed! So annoying when you go to a grocery store and it's busy but they only have 2 check out lanes open. This tokyo central location always has 4+ lanes open which makes it easy to get in and out for a quick lunch. Appreciate the team here!

I've been shopping here for years, but during COVID, I just didn't have time to wait in the lines that went around the block AND the parking here is horrible and not enough. I used to shop on my Friday off around 3 p.m. before people would get off work and at least I could get a parking spot. However.... fast forward to all the new Asian markets popping up in Irvine, Huntington Beach and vicinity. It's easy to get in and out of Tokyo Central and slide into a parking spot. Most likely NOT a good thing for business here, but for now, it works for me. Everyone has seemed to flock to the new Asian markets. The quality of Asian items here is still good, IMO and they do have a nice variety of whatever you're looking for (not massive, just enough) The to-go fast food items and sushi are always filled and they do discount what's left at the end of the day. Note: Their poke and Hawaiian style (marinated) is always fresh and delicious. Also, poke is poke and the bowl isn't filled with unnecessary non-poke items. You can get a decent bowl (which is packed in a square container) for $13 and with all the poke joints popping up, I'd say $13 is a very reasonable price. At some, I've paid as much as $31 for, which do NOT even compare to TC's $13 option.

Great selection on a variety of items. Took home sushi grade salmon and it was a great flavor and texture

If you are looking for fresh sushi, sashimi and poke, this is the place to be. They have a food sold for $10.99 per lb. Personally, I still like Mitsuwa better as they have food stalls inside.

I love the wide selection of bento and Japanese's beverage here! Price is also reasonable.

I love going to Tokyo Central and picking up groceries and some of their prepared dishes. Their poke is very reasonable and quite generous with fish for the price. Their hot bar is also very popular ($10.99 per lb - don't miss the karaage chicken), but they are constantly replenishing it. This store is very big, with a huge selection of ramen, sauces, produce and much, much more. The only reason I don't give it five stars is that it's a little on the dingy side and the presentation looks a bit messy. It lacks that clean uniformity of an H-Mart, but I think it's the look that the chain (along with Marukai Market) go for.

This was my first time visiting this location. I've only ever been to the Yorba Linda one but I was pleasantly surprised by the ample selection of fresh fish and ready-to-go lunch items here. I picked up a variety of nigiri for lunch, and they even have tables if you want to dine in. I usually go to Mitsuwa in Costa Mesa for fresh fish or whenever we're doing carpaccio night, but I'm happy to see that this location offers even more options. Bonus: they also carry a nice selection of Japanese skincare products if that's your thing. Definitely worth checking out!

Tokyo Central offers an impressive selection of Asian groceries and ready-to-eat food options, making it a great one-stop destination for a wide range of cuisines. The overall experience is enjoyable, with well-stocked aisles and competitive prices that add great value. The freshly prepared food stands out the most--when it's hot and freshly made, the quality and flavor are excellent. It's clearly a popular spot, as the store tends to stay busy throughout the day. One thing to keep in mind is that parking can be challenging to find during peak hours, so planning your visit accordingly can help.

Tokyo Central in Costa Mesa may have convinced me to move to South California. This place was loaded with good premade food. A lot of choices and prices are better than North California. Why is this place so much better than the Tokyo Central in Cupertino? Thank you for blessing us with good food for the long trip back.

    Well priced sushi!!! April 2025

Wow this place is great!!! I love Mitsuwa Market but Tokyo Central is waaaay better! Great selection of Japanese food items. Great prepared food section. Great fresh fish and meat. Very competitively priced. 1000 times better parking. No food stalls but they do have a great hot food bar by the lbs.

During late fall, there is only bananas, melons berries, etc. in most stores. Fuyu persimmons, the higher fiber, juicy fruit you can eat like an apple or wait till it's like pudding, is on it's way out till next year. At Super King, there were lots of them for $1.69 a pound. Albertson's had them for $5 for 2 pounds or $2.50 a pound. Dragon Fruit was $1.99 a pound, usually around $4-5 a pound at the supers. The best cucumbers, Persian, were $1.79 a pound and up to twice as much at supers. I bought a honeydew melon for about $2, and it was great selling for about twice as much at Alberston's. Their Satsuma tangerines were a great buy and super sweet and juicy - pick those that are heavy for their size, with a deep orange color. I have never bought any meats but in the past, they've had some beef and pork parts you don't see in most supers. lots of Mexican and International items. I have had several of their pastries, most are pretty good and prices are fair. They have lots of specials on groceries that they place at end of aisle. I really like that they have a line for those with 15 or less. I was in and out of the check out line in 5 minutes. but during peak times it could take a lot longer. Lots of fast food places and McDonald's in this mini mall. The parking lot can be crazy.

Seems to me, it is less crowded than other markets. (If I can avoid crowds, I will). It was Tet New Year season and I needed to get a few ingredients for some dishes I planned to cook. My first priority was the fresh oxtail in the meat department. I have gone to many markets for this cut and it seems this is the best place for a ~2 pound tray of mixed size tails. The fat is all trimmed off, as opposed to other markets that leave a fat layer behind that you are paying for. It also depends on if you prefer leaner tails. Next, the produce section. I picked up some cailan (Chinese broccoli). For the most part, the Asian veggies are pretty fresh - since there is a higher turnover rate of Asian veggies in this area. It was good on this day. So many varieties of green veggies, I love it! The fruit section is also pretty impressive. Papayas, guanabana, dragon fruit, pommelo, tangerines, korean pear, manzano bananas,...Not your ordinary apples and oranges. Dry goods include a plethora of rice, including Thai sweet rice, Japanese rice (perfect for sushi rice), red rice (known for high fiber and low glycemic index)... Who likes Chinese Style sausage? Me! It is called Lap Xuong, in Vietnamese. I love making Thai sweet rice and serve with thinly sliced Lap Xuong - my mom fed us kids this often! And yes, they have a good supply of this here, so stock up, it will last forever in the pantry. Vietnam is the world's second largest coffee producer. You will see the crazy amount of coffee products sold here, for example, Vinacafe. Most are packed as individual serving packets which includes cream and sugar. Too convenient for consumption! Also perfect to have in your pantry. You shall be impressed with the chili aisle. Sambal of all kinds. You can make an awesome pot of chili with this heat! Lots of Lunar New Year items too. I am sure there are still some left for purchase if you didn't have a chance to pick some up yet. They do have a liquor department too. Asians can drink iykyk. The store itself is smaller if you compare it with places like Shun Fat Westminster Superstore or Hòa Bình supermarket. There is only one checkout counter and the staff all seem to be Vietnamese. They have their own seafood and meat counter with number tags where you can ask them to clean or cut fish, plus a small deli to go section. I also noticed their delivery vehicle outside that says wholesale, so it seems like they also supply restaurants in the area. Overall it feels like a neighborhood market that also does some wholesale business. The fresh section looked clean and there was no strong smell. I happened to see ground pork on sale for $2.49 per pound. The regular price was $2.79. Of course I had just paid $3.99 per pound earlier that day at 99 Ranch in Irvine because I wanted convenience. While we were there, a Vietnamese lady next to us was buying a big pile of meat and seafood and chatting with us while waiting for it to be cut. She said she always shops here. She ended up buying the last of the ground pork in the display. We asked if there was any left and the butcher said he had more in the back, so we immediately decided to grab two pounds. I think this place is perfect if you do not want to push a cart around a huge store and just need to pick up a few items quickly. They are open until 8pm.
