High end sit down restaurant at the South Coast Plaza. Lots of business and more formal meals here. Can here with hubby and baby on a weekend and it was busy, but not packed. The service is top notch: staff constantly checks in to make sure all is good, the lunch menu is simple but efficient: burgers, sandwiches, salads...etc. we order their mini sandwich and classic burger, but we're decent. Truffle fries are a must! Good place to enjoy some nice ambience and good service with classic food.

We came to The Capital Grille and it never disappoints. It's one of those classic spots you can always count on for a great experience. We ordered the 36oz bone-in ribeye and it was cooked perfectly, full of flavor, and definitely the star of the table. We also tried the lobster mac and cheese. It was good, but personally I would probably skip it next time and try something different. The asparagus was amazing, simple but done right. We also ordered a couple of mocktails that were refreshing and well balanced, which we really enjoyed. Service was great. Derek H. took really good care of us, attentive, friendly, and made the whole experience feel seamless. We requested a booth and they were able to accommodate us, which made it even better. Overall, this place continues to deliver. Great food, great service, and a classic ambiance that always makes it a solid choice.

We were shopping in this mall, so we decided to stop by for dinner. The decor is dark and moody. It wasn't so busy, so we were seated right away. They brought out a variety of breads and crackers! We weren't too hungry, so we share the Parmesan truffle fries and a tomahawk. The steak was flavorful and fries were nicely seasoned. Service was attentive as well.

Wagyu & wine special in the lounge

My wife and I met friends for dinner on Friday. We made reservations 6 days before on OpenTable for a table for 4 in the lounge. When we arrived, I was surprised the larger lounge tables were seated and that we were presented a 2 top with 2 additional settings and chairs. That really wasn't going to work and said as much to the young lady who tried to sweat us there. She made a comment and I remarked that we could just go downstairs for dinner. A minute later, another young lady appeared and asked if we would like to be seated in the dinning room. Though we love the feeling of the lounge, we accepted her offer. Tommie was our waiter in the dinning room and did I a superb job taking care of us. We opened with cocktails and ordered starters of calamari and prosciutto wrapped mozzarella. The drinks and starters were absolutely delicious! We each ordered something different for the main course. Our friends went for the lobster tail special and Wagyu & Wine while my wife and I opted for the dinner filet, mine Oscar style. Each dish was delicious and very well presented. It seems that TCG has changed their version of Oscar style as our last couple visits it was served sans asparagus! I have always looked forward to that bit, not sure as why the change, to have the guest order a side of asparagus? When all said and done, we had a very enjoyable evening even though we missed our seating in the lounge.

My family and I have always been big fans of this restaurant, but unfortunately the last couple of visits have been disappointing. I do want to start by saying that the service has consistently been great--our server today was friendly and attentive, and we really appreciate that. However, the quality of the food doesn't seem to be what it used to be. Today we ordered the 33 oz Wagyu Tomahawk for $185. The price itself isn't the issue, but the portion size definitely didn't seem to match what was advertised. We were told it would be more than enough for three people, but by the end each person only ended up with about two slices. The flavor was just okay, and after a similar experience during our last visit in January, we left feeling unsatisfied again. After spending around $500, we're honestly considering ordering DoorDash because we're still hungry. We used to really enjoy coming here, so it's disappointing to feel like things have gone downhill over the past couple of months. I hope the restaurant can address the portion and quality issues because we'd love to have the experience we used to enjoy.

The service and food at Capital Grill are always outstanding. The crowd who dines here tends to be on the older side, most likely due to the price point of the menu. Don't let that discourage you from going in and giving it a try. It is nice to receive great old fashioned service when dinning out.

Everything was amazing for our first time at The Capital Grille! Our server was attentive and had great suggestions. The food was incredible. I had the ribeye and scallops. So good. Will be back for another special occasion.

Diane and I treated four family members and the significant others of two of our grandchildren to a Christmas celebration dinner here two days before Christmas, and it was quite a feast. My goal was to order a cross-section of appetizers and side dishes for the table, and let everyone select their own entree and soup or salad if they desired one or both types of starters. So we began with two orders of Shrimp Cocktail, one order of Fried Calamari, four Cups of French Onion Soup, one Spinach Pear Salad and one Wedge Salad. The shrimp in the Shrimp Cocktail were large and meaty; the Calamari golden and a little greasy; the onions in the French Onion Soup well caramelized and the broth covered by well-melted cheese. The two salads were large and featured fresh greens. Mains ranged from my order of medium-rare Seared Tenderloin with Butter Poached Lobster Tails to Honey Coated Double Cut Mint & Honey Lamb, with Bone In Kona Beef, Miso Butter Seabass, Sliced Filet, 10 oz. Filet Mignon, and Scallop and Lobster Risotto in between. My son raved about his lamb, and no one complained about their chosen entree, so I assumed that they each liked what they received. Choosing sides for the table, I ordered Grilled Asparagus, Lobster Mac 'N' Cheese, Truffle Fries, Roasted Mushrooms, and Potatoes Au Gratin. One might think that with two potato dishes already and one pasta side that sufficient starches had been ordered. But when I asked Diane if she wanted anything else, she asked for Sam's Mashed Potatoes as well. So that, too, was ordered, and there was precious little room left for bread and butter plates on our large circular table. I have long been a fan of The Capital Grille's Potatoes Au Gratin and Truffle Fries, and everything else I sampled was also well cooked and excellent in taste. Except for a complimentary dessert plate bestowed on one diner who was celebrating a December birthday, as full as we were everyone else passed on dessert. Service, too, by our principal server Michelle M. was smooth, quick, errorless, and very responsive. Understandably, this close to the winter holidays the capacious dining rooms were all packed with well-dressed diners, but the restaurant did not seem overcrowded, and its white linen tableclothed ambiance was upscale and classy. I will surely return, but next time with fewer people in my party.

The Capital Grille always has incredible service and goes above and beyond to make your celebratory moments in life feel extra special. We've been going for years and each visit feels like a great experience at a familiar friend's house (albeit a fancy friend haha). My repeat orders are: Blackberry Bourbon Sidecar - a very well balanced drink that's not too sweet and very easy to drink. Parmesan Truffle Fries: a must-order, although the recent addition of Duck Fat Fries definitely gives it a run for its money. Maine Lobster Salad: especially on warm days, this is such a refreshing and delicious option. Generous chunks of perfectly prepared lobster with avo, tomatoes, and arugula. Perfect! Lobster Mac N Cheese: although it's part of the dinner menu, I even order this when I'm there for lunch and The Capital Grille is kind enough to accommodate. A decadent and elevated version of Mac N Cheese and a must try if you love lobster. For entrees their steaks are always prepared accurately based on our requests and we love their high quality ingredients and attention to detail. Highly recommend visiting The Capital Grille the next time you want to celebrate or are just feeling like a special treat!

I've had the pleasure of dining here twice now and both times have been a phenomenal experience. The service here is top-notch. For dinner I came here with my husband to celebrate his birthday and we were served by Tiffany L. She made sure that we had an amazing experience from beginning to end. I hope she gets recognition for this! We started off with the caviar dip appetizer, which I think was fun to splurge on. I recommend trying the caviar alone to taste the caviar. Otherwise it does get lost in the dip. I ordered the scallop and lobster risotto as an entree whereas my husband ordered the seared tenderloin with lobster. We also ordered potatoes au gratin as a side. Everything was absolutely amazing. Cooked to perfection! We were so full. We did not have any room for dessert. however Tiffany did bring over a little birthday treat for my husband. I've had such a great time every time I come here. I look forward to many more!

Since this is a high class establishment with a suggested dress code, I definitely walked in with some pretty high expectations. My husband and I decided to go for a last minute date night this past Friday, and luckily we were able to snag a spot through Yelp Reservations. Even though it's right next to the mall, once you step inside you forget you're looking out at a parking lot. The vibe inside is very dark and moody. It is all ambient lighting and elegant decor with these framed pictures everywhere, so it feels very intimate and upscale. It's the kind of place where you want to dress up a bit and grab a martini. Our server was great too, really attentive and kept our glasses full while checking in on us at all the right times. Food wise, we started with the French onion soup and truffle fries. The soup came out piping hot with a thick layer of melted, bubbly cheese on top, which was the highlight for me. The truffle fries were also solid, they were super crispy and had a good scent of truffle without being overwhelming. For the main event, we shared the 24oz bone in porterhouse. I asked for medium rare and they nailed the cook on it perfectly. It was a massive, juicy piece of meat. However, I have to be honest, even though everything was cooked correctly, nothing about the meal really wowed me. For a high class establishment at this price point, I was expecting a flavor profile that I could not just get anywhere else, but it felt a little standard. It is a beautiful spot for the atmosphere and the service is top notch, but the food did not quite have that extra spark to make me crave a second visit. I am giving it a 3/5 because the food just did not blow me away like I hoped it would for a restaurant at this price point.

Restaurant is in the South Coast Plaza Mall, high end, formal setting but there is also a bar area which can be a bit less formal. Amazing service from our server Tiffany is the highlight of the great evening we had here. Always returned to our table with a big smile just to make sure we had everything we needed. We had been here before for their Wagyu Burger and wine Special which my husband loves. So we came back when we found out they had it again for a certain amount of time only. But this time I must say our server Tiffany made it extra special. Just the way she smiled and talked to us just made us feel so welcomed and taken care of. I ordered the roasted beet salad and each of us ordered the Wagyu Burger. She made sure she understood how we liked the meat cooked, with her follow up questions and when it came, stopped to make sure it was what we liked. Just her interaction with us was very pleasant, nice and wonderful! Her service uplifted the whole experience! Love, love, love her! We plan to be back to try out other items in the menu! I hope we get her again the next time we come!

Came for lunch, there was still seats at the bar, they have tv's to watch the game at the bar. Had the crab cake, and wine it was great and so was service. The entrance is kind of hidden, it's next to seasons, there's an elevator you can walk upstairs. Bartenders and servers were all great, will be back!

    Fabulous wine.

The space feels intimate because it's on the smaller side, and they thoughtfully stagger reservations so the dining room never feels overcrowded. You can be seated in the main dining room, on the outdoor patio, or on the indoor patio next to the penthouse shops. I come here at least once a year for my birthday because the staff are genuinely warm and make every guest feel special. They clearly care deeply about hospitality and creating a true culinary experience. Honestly, the entire team is top-notch, but on our most recent visit, Kara took especially great care of us. She remembered our preferences, made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed without needing to ask, and made my birthday feel special while also giving my husband and me space (I dislike when wait staff at smaller restaurants hover - they don't do that at all). The way the staff serves, takes orders, clears, etc. is like a really well-rehearsed dance - they want everything to be paced, smooth, and efficient (without feeling forced or robotic) and it really makes a difference. The food is delicious and beautifully presented, with thoughtful attention put into every detail of the flavor profile and color palette. They NEVER miss. I love how they refresh the menu a few times during the year to showcase seasonal ingredients while still staying true to the restaurant's overall identity. They also have a selection of dining experiences - I always go for the 3 course prefix during lunch and the portion sizes and timing of each course is perfect. Also highly recommend their afternoon tea on Saturdays. Couldn't find a more luxurious afternoon tea experience in OC! I genuinely hope they continue to do well! It's a pleasure to be a guest and feel pampered for a special day or an elevated casual meal with friends/family. Will be back many times in the future!

Definitely will be back for the dessert at least... and maybe the tasting menu. Apple (vanilla panna cotta, tatin, earl grey crumble, granny smith: compressed & gelee, green apple sorbet): You gotta come here for dessert. This was phenomenal. The earl grey crumble was delicious and plays well with the sweet tartness of the granny smiths. I'd say the component that felt out of place was the compressed pieces; they tasted like an fresh apple version of tandra which was too sweet and the layers meshed together. Main diver scallops (cauliflower, romanesco, capers, lemon confit, crostini): The scallops were so juicy and perfectly seared on the top. The cauliflowers were good but lackluster. The server told me there's cauliflower puree on the bottom which was yummy. Lemon confit who? There was an essence of lemon but nothing very present. Crostini was essentially like mini plain croutons. Wild Alaskan halibut (braised & fermented fennel, castelvetrano olives, preserved lemon): Only tried a bite of the fish and fennel. The fish was very nicely cooked and the crust on top was delightful. The fennel was sour due to fermentation but I didn't particularly enjoy it.

We were on a time constraint and felt once we got our food, we had to rush and eat it and cut the birthday dessert short and take it to go. We may need to rethink our future celebration dinners sadly or go back to the Anaheim location. The sea bass was very salty and overly marinated with the miso. The rest of our food once we got them were good; NY steak, filets, crab cake, lobster Mac and cheese, fries, onion rings. Unfortunately, the long wait time over shadowed the good food. Over $500 bill, didn't feel like a $400 service. Giving the 1 star for the good food and the server that was trying to keep many tables at bay because of the long kitchen wait times!

We ordered the truffle fries, seafood vongole, and lobster ravioli, and every dish exceeded our expectations. Each bite was flavorful and beautifully prepared. I liked how the ravioli was seasoned. It was light and tasted fresh. Overall, it was a wonderful dining experience, and we're already looking forward to our next visit!

On top of that the menu changes every couple of months, which for me is nice because every time I come here I experience something a little different. Do keep in mind this particular location I've been here enough now that I notice some patterns. there's going to be a seasonal fish that is featured. There's also going to be some kind of stuffed mushroom which I like because I like mushrooms. They always have scallops which are always cooked to perfection. I often order that added on to the entree. There will be at least one steak dish and a chicken and a pork dish. they always feature on the appetizers the lump crab cake. it is what it sounds like, a large lump of crab that is breaded. To me it's not a true crab cake but rather a lump of fresh crab that's breaded and fried. It's ok if you're in to that. The one dish I was curious enough to try today was their Kona crusted lamb loin. I don't usually order lamb unless it's an Indian or middle eastern restaurant. I like lamb but it's not exactly something I crave. so how they explained it was that the Kona was basically using coffee grounds as a dry rub on the meat. So I got curious and ordered it. The grounds basically add a slightly different texture and adds a slight bitterness. Sort of like char from a grill. It was ok and interesting but what stood out the most was the fact that the meat was so perfectly cooked and so flavorful and tender that it overpowered whatever the grounds added to the meat. so I would recommend this solely on the basis of how perfectly tender and flavorful the meat was.

You can tell it's been thoughtfully curated, and the staff really knows how to guide you through it. The pairings are intentional and elevate the entire experience, not just an afterthought. The ambiance is top-notch, effortlessly stylish, warm, and the kind of place that works just as well for a date night as it does for a relaxed night out with friends. And the food... the pork belly taco was absolutely mind-blowing. Perfectly balanced, rich without being heavy, and executed with real attention to detail. This is one of those places where everything, from service to wine to food; comes together seamlessly. Definitely a standout.

Instead, I called them and they were able to accommodate that change. Since, Bar Tinto is in WIP, we know that parking here sucks. So come early for parking, luckily they were able to hold our table. This review is for Jonathan Garcia's menu. Kushi oysters were served with a lime mignonette already in the oyster shell. Oysters tasted fresh and good quality. The ribeye vampiro was served on a corn tortilla, with a sheet of cheese, and balanced salsa. I was expecting nice thick chunks of ribeye, but it was a thin crispy slice. I enjoyed the dish, but I was hoping for more. I tried my friend's pork belly taco and it's delicious. The fattiness was decadent. I wish I ordered one for myself. In addition, as a wine bar I would expect a wider variety of wines. They are knowledgeable about the 5 wines on the menu. It's ironic facing a wall of wines, but only able to sip on 5 varietals and some spritz options. However, the desserts were delicious and I recommend saving room for both of them. Unfortunately, I would not return here. The customer service was attentive, but kitchen is slow. If you do decide to come here, then I suggest you practice patience or come here on a date with someone you really like. Also, check their IG for an updated menu, since it probably changes often.

Luckily, the gentleman manning the bar during my most recent visit was very friendly. Drinks are always great. I've tried a variety of drinks from the menu here, but my favorites are: -Love in Drunk, a lovely cocktail with cucumber and grapefruit flavors that create a fresh watermelon taste when mixed together -Bee's Knees, short but strong and sweet -London Mule, very herbal thanks to the gin and very refreshing
