Tried this spot for the first time because of all the hype, but unfortunately it didn't live up to our expectations. We tried 3 dishes which were either a hit or miss. -Spinach dip naan: this was our favorite dish of the night. Loved how flavorful and unique it was, and the sauce paired well with it. -Tandoori fish: the texture of the fish was great and it melted in our mouths, but unfortunately the flavor was lacking -Chicken tikka masala: the flavor was great but we did find the chicken to be a bit dry However, service was great and the interior was very nice with lots of seating. Wow I'm so impressed!!! Every dish we tried was incredible. The spinach dip naan and the wings were the standouts!! Probably some of the best Indian food I've had in OC. The chicken tikka was pretty tomato heavy, but the chicken was so tender and delicious I loved it (got medium, but will def get hot next time). If you like spice, ask for their hot chili sauce!! It made every dish we added it to a little spicer - we all loved it.
I ordered takeout from Masala Waves and was impressed before even trying the food. Everything was packaged very thoughtfully, and the order even came in a high-quality reusable bag. Even with takeout, you can tell they put a lot of care into the service. I ordered the Fish Tandoori and Spinach Dip Naan. The Spinach Dip Naan was unique and really tasty, while the Fish Tandoori was incredibly soft and flavorful. Masala Waves exceeded the already high expectations I had from hearing so many good things about it. I'm definitely looking forward to coming back and trying more of the menu.
This was our second visit, and we came back because my wife and I were seriously craving their chicken biryani. It was just as good as we remembered! The flavor is always consistent, and every bite hits the spot. You also can't skip the chicken tikka naan, it's a must-order every time we come here. It pairs perfectly with the biryani and is absolutely delicious. The service is always excellent, and the hospitality is what keeps us coming back. Everyone is so welcoming and makes you feel right at home. This place is truly a hidden gem in Huntington Beach. Great food, great people, and a great experience every time. My friends and i decided to grab early dinner here! After hearing the hype, we finally had time to dine in and there wasn't a wait on a Thursday at 5:30pm. We ordered the spinach naan, tikka masala, butter chicken, garlic naan, mango chutney, drink: mango lassi, dessert: pistachio kulfi, free dessert cookie for birthday. Service was soooo warming since it was our first time. Mango lassi, we thought it would be a cold drink but it was room temperature so we did ask for cups of ice. Definitely coming back!!!
Solid. Came here recently. Friendly greeting upon entering. Seated straightaway on a warm Wednesday early evening. Service was excellent throughout the meal. We started with the Naan spinach dip which was very good. For entrees, we went with Namche Lamb (savory, rich stew with broccoli and cauliflower), saag paneer, and chicken tikka masala. Entrees come with a side of rice. We also banged out naan and mango chutney. It was all solid and we had plenty to take home. Btw, their to-go boxes and bags are awesome. They also have a small gift type shop in the corner. Parking is plentiful in this Beach Blvd strip mall. I am pretty sure we found our go-to Indian/Nepali joint.
I just want to say WOWWW truly can't say enough good things about this restaurant, staff, and the food! Everything about this place is so homey and cozy, which makes for a wonderful dining experience. Staff are extremely kind and friendly, and often check on you to ask about your meal, which truly offers a connection that's often lost in today's day and age. We were even given a free dessert, which I thought was very wholesome and telling of the service at this restaurant. Food was phenomenal with amazing fragrant flavors. We truly couldn't decide on a favorite. Definitely recommend checking this place out and I'd put it as one of my most favorite spots in all of OC.

The kick just wasn't there and didn't have as much flavor as a lot of my friends had mentioned to me. Luckily it wasn't heavy on the tomato taste like a lot of other spots. the chicken momo was new to me, and it had very flavorful chicken inside and was a unique experience. however it wasn't anything special to me and was pretty much a chicken dumpling with tikka masala sauce on the side. but if that you're thing then go for it!! the chicken tikka masala and saag tofu were exactly about what I was expecting; very good and up to standard but still nothing special. the garlic naan was top tier. the service was fast and efficient. they had almost a full house and they still brought our food out relatively fast. the restaurant can hold around 40-60 people and has nepali themed decorations. overall a great pic for nepali/Indian food.

I went on a Sunday night and got sat right away. It's pretty spacious with a good amount of tables available. There was a good amount of parking available as well! The food was so good! The portions don't look huge but it's very filling. My friend and I shared a spinach naan, chicken tikka masala, and a mango lassi and we had leftovers. The spinach naan was so so good! It was soft but stuffed with a spinach and cheese filling. It came with a sweet mint sauce which made it refreshing and you just want to keep eating it. We dipped it in the chicken tikka masala and that was good too! We got medium spicy for the chicken tikka masala and in our opinions it was just a small kick of spice (but we can both eat spicy). The chicken on its own can be slightly dry but if you break it up smaller and mix it with the sauce it's still really good! The mango lassi had really good flavor, you can really taste the mango and yogurt flavors. We did wish it was slightly colder but we still loved it! N
Three for lunch. The lunch menu is mostly Indian and so is the thali. We ordered two thali, a momo chicken and a mango lassi that we shared. We ordered medium spice. We could have turned it up a notch. Every dish was delicious. The rice is perfect, the Dahl (lentils) was lovely. We shared goat and lamb. Different aromatic sauces. Both were grand but the goat has bones and thet are a great size for dinner. We took home two to go boxes. The restaurant is denny style that is well decorated with musical instruments and murals all around. This was the exactly what you want for a long happy lunch.

so yummy! got the spicy coconut lamb and the chicken tikka filled naan with spinach. the spicy coconut lamb was very flavorful and had a good amount of spice. our favorite is that minty mango sauce, sooo good!! read more

Wow. I've seen this place on TikTok before but had a chance to visit it this week and it was great! Servers were attentive and recommended some pretty cool stuff. We got the tikki masala pizza, lamb tikki masala and the spinach dip naan! Tikki masala pizza (3/5): very very cheesy but has rrally good flavor! Journeyed to Masala Waves for cuisine of India and Nepal - and I was not disappointed! The restaurant is spacious and beautifully decorated. The fast and friendly service led me to a comfortable booth. I ordered the Chicken Momo dumplings - delicious! The Samosa were like two Himalayan peaks! The Onion Kulcha was great for sharing. The portion of rice could feed the family! The 5 star dish was the Fish Curry, wow! Perfect combination of salt, savor, texture, and flavor. I love trying me some fusion or unsung cuisines, so when my friend invited me to try some Nepalese you know I had to tap in. We walked into a beautiful wooden restaurant, proudly decorated with cultural art and lined with flags, then were sat and served by very friendly staff. For the food we got the chicken momo dumplings, tandoori fish, lamb biryani, garlic naan, and rounded off with a refreshing mango lassi. Each and every dish was a hit, boldly flavored, yet balanced. Fantastic Indian Cuisine! This restaurant has a family-style vibe to it with lots of tables and booths to boot. We were seated quickly and the server was helpful in guiding us through the menu. We got the following: 1) Spinach Naan (appetizer) - Great appetizer! Not too heavy and the dipping sauce was refreshing combined with the spinach loaded inside the naan. 2) Chicken Tikka Masala - Savory and sweet, all in one! This dish is a staple for me whenever I get Indian and this place did not dissapoint. 3) Goat Curry - The goat was bone-in; the meat was tender and juicy. 4) Chicken Biryani - Loaded with spices and full of flavor. 5) Garlic Naan - Pretty standard, nothing to note. 6) Mango Lassi - Great drink to go with all the hearty dishes! It was sweet and definitely refreshing. Note: For all of the meat entrees, we got the spiciest option available and it definitely had a kick to it! This place should be way more popular! The hospitality and ambiance is truly something else. Right as you walk in, you skip the wait and are immediately seated and met with friendly service. The restaurant is also kept very clean and thoughtfully decorated with colorful contemporary ornaments and art, reflecting elements of Indian and Nepali culture. All dishes come fresh, hot, and full of robust flavor. For drinks, their mango lassi is a first time must try, carrying a light, rich flavor and delicate texture. I definitely also recommend asking for a few orders of the garlic and spinach naan bread to eat before and during your main courses. My party of four only ordered the butter chicken and lamb masala, but it was quite filling and more than enough to satisfy! Our dishes all came with rice and selectable spice levels, which was a nice accommodation. The dessert was also solid and a pleasant way to end our meal; Pistachio Kulfi is the way to go if you would like to try their dessert. I would also notably mention that this place has many rather interesting items on the menu, like their Masala wings and pizzas, which may be a fun try. We are regulars at masala waves, we loveeee eating here. The food and the wonderful service from the staff there never disappoints! I'm always in a good mood when we go there! Paneer masala, Bhindi (okra) masala and daal soup are what we regularly order cuz they're SO GOOOD!! We recently got a chance to test out their Butter Chicken Pasta and it was SOOOOOOOO DELICIOUSSSS!! It's everything I want in a dish combining two of my favorite things, indian flavors + pasta!! Seems a little busy at night so I recommend coming earlier. It's a nice restaurant in HB meant for more casual dining. Okay seating and wait isn't too long. The people working are very helpful and nice. Food is also pretty good. If you have ever had Trader Joe's tikka masala and liked it, you should try this place. Their tikka masala hot is so good. Spice could definitely be amped up more as we got hot and it wasn't that hot. Their naan is so good so I definitely recommend. Overall would be back and try different items. read more

I LOVE this place. I went to eat here once and everyone was so so nice. The food is amazing that I was literally dreaming about the next time I'll eat it LOL. I live kind of a drive away so I always end up ordering this place on door dash and they're always so careful in the way that they package my food. It feels like my food was taken cared of before coming to me and that makes me happy. The containers and bags I do end up reusing, so that' a plus for me! Onto the food: my favorites from here that i ALWAYS order is the butter chicken extra spicy and their chicken tikka masala extra spicy as well. Pair these two with their spinach dip naan.. chefs kiss!! I always end up craving this place at least once a month. I'm not a big basmati rice girl, so I did call in one time to ask them to hold the rice because I didn't want to waste it and they replaced it with garlic naan instead so nice of them. If you like mango lassi, try it here!! most of the yogurt type drinks that I tried at other places are pretty liquidy, but they make theirs nice and THICK. read more

It's been hard to find an authentic Indian restaurant that makes the perfect Chicken Tikki Masala! All portions were sharable and I loved the spinach naan dip. The texture and flavor of the Indian cheese was incredible. The chicken tikki masala was amazing. So buttery and tender! Our server was so so nice and sweet. We sat there for 4 hours catching up and he offered us free ice cream and kept refilling out water making sure we were comfortable! Big space and clean! Will be back for sure! read more

Was craving Indian food and this was in the area! Really happy we picked this place. There was ample parking, we were seated for the most part as soon as we arrived. Our appetizers came out very quick along with the rest of our food. We got the chili veggie momos and they were phenomenal. The chicken tikka masala and garlic naan are a classic and they got it right. We got veggie chow mein which was good. The chicken biryani had a bit too much mint for me personally, but the rest of the party enjoyed it. Would go back. read more

The food is absolutely terrible. I also got this takeout order to go and they didn't include any napkins so ended up with a mess of food I couldn't eat in my car. I really don't trust the food hygiene practices here, based not just on the absolutely careless presentation and wrapping of the food, but also due to the cultural standards of this Nepalese establishment. While I'm waiting inside, one can very much hear constant noises from the kitchen like constant and extremely loud, vigorous pounding and other noises you'd maybe expect to hear at a butchery rather than inside a restaurant filled with tables for diners. The staff isn't elevated to the standard of Huntington Beach in my opinion either, they're more running their culture in the midst of HB. It's just so disappointing when one can't trust the food to be safe, if there's ever a serious doubt, I always choose to eat as much as I'd consider within the threshold of safety. I've had much better Indian food in Hawaii in a place called Spice Up. In fact, Spice Up and Himalayan Kitchen in Hawaii are better than any of the Indian places I've tried so far in SoCal. It's too authentic here and I don't trust the hygiene, especially after reading past food safety reports for a given establishment. Response to Sal's comment on my review: - Not finding the cleanliness of your packaging and quality of your food up to my own expectations doesn't mean that I harbor hate, it means that I was surprised by the food, presentation, and experience given the very high ratings you have here on Yelp, and not in a good way, unfortunately. I appreciate that you are doing business as a restaurant owner because I know it's not easy and is a lot of continuous hard work, but the wrapper for the burrito was a disgusting mess before I even fully opened it and the samosa chaat was extremely watered down. The chicken didn't taste good. I've never been to a restaurant other than yours where a diner would hear such loud, alarming sounds continuously and be expected to enjoy their meal. Am I supposed to check to see if you gave me napkins with my takeout order before I leave your restaurant? I think it's much easier to just include a napkin or two with each takeout order. This just wasn't it. Was craving Indian food, so I ordered chicken tikka masala, garlic naan, and cheese naan. Cheese naan was cheesy and arguably the best thing of the 3. The chicken tikka masala just didn't taste right. Very tomato and jalapeño forward, and it just didn't taste like any other masala I had. I also asked for it to be hot, but it just was more jalapeño-y. Garlic naan wasn't really garlicky. I doordashed, so can't speak to service or ambiance, but the food just wasn't it. read more

Saw this spot gaining traction on tiktok so had to stop by!!! Sal was a sweetheart and helped us order based on our preferences and their top items!! We ordered the cheesy spinach naan, samosas, spicy momos, butter chicken, and lamb madras. The cheesy spinach naan was such a stand out! It came with a delicious mango mint sauce that paired perfectly, giving the dish such a fresh taste. Service was amazing and there is plenty of seating and parking!! 3.5 stars Inside, Masala Waves is absolute vibe. The decor is actually so much fun. My mistake was asking our waiter for recs despite having a general idea of which dishes I wanted to try. He had good intentions, but suggested popular menu items which are more intended for someone new-ish to this type of cuisine. Per his suggestion, we ordered the spinach dip naan ($9) which is much like a spinach quesadilla in naan form. Fine? But the Nepali momo chili chicken ($13) was much better starter. The chicken and veggies are seasoned with specific spices making them distinctly Nepali. Dipped in the creamy tomato sauce, it was the perfect bite. We also ordered the tandoori salmon ($20). The salmon is grilled in a traditional tandoori marinade served with basmati rice and grilled veggies. This was a lot more saucier than anticipated, however, I felt like the sauce didn't really add much to the flavor of the dish. We were served broccolini as our veggies, which was fine, but it just Americanized the whole dish. Idk. I'd much rather order the chicken sequwa next time. I also felt that the flavor of the chicken tikka masala was much more muted than usual. There were no huge grievances with our meal. There were some tasty bits, but overall lacked the robust flavors I was expecting. Everything tasted a tad too safe. I will definitely be back and ready to order with my heart. read more

The butter chicken was decent, but I also dipped my momos and naan into the sauce. We got a medium butter chicken - I recommend getting a higher spice level if you're looking for more kick.
