Our mixologist-in-service, Faraz, did Heaven proud adding lovely moments of humor to the feast. We also loved the cozy, still elevated and esoteric vibe that also manages to welcome and create a familial aesthetic. -- Disappointing Persian food and painfully slow service I'm half Persian, have a large Persian family, and have eaten my fair share of Persian food. I'm a regular at places like Hatam, Bahar, and even Wholesome Choice, so I was genuinely looking forward to trying Heaven on a Fork. Unfortunately, this was a pretty disappointing experience, both in terms of food and service. My wife and I arrived around 11:15 AM on a Thursday, shortly after opening. There were only three occupied tables and what appeared to be six staff members working. I figured we'd get excellent service with that kind of staff-to-customer ratio. Nope. We didn't leave until nearly two hours later. We ordered water and hot tea. The tea arrived, but was never refilled. We asked for tahdig with three stews, only to be told, "Sorry, we don't have tahdig." What kind of Persian restaurant doesn't have tahdig? I gave them the benefit of the doubt, figuring perhaps they only make a limited amount and another table had already ordered it. We ordered the chicken shish kabob, joojeh kabob, and ghormeh sabzi. After roughly 45 minutes to an hour, our food finally arrived. I'll give credit where it's due: the presentation was good, and everything smelled delicious. Things were looking up. Unfortunately, the taste didn't live up to the appearance. First, the ghormeh sabzi. I'm genuinely confused about what happened in the kitchen because this tasted more like fesenjan than ghormeh sabzi. It had a distinctly pomegranate-like flavor and a large lamb shank. Yes, there were kidney beans and some herbs, but the flavor profile was completely wrong. There was also what looked like nearly an inch of oil sitting on top of the stew. Where was the unmistakable dried lime flavor? The fenugreek? The rich, savory, herbaceous depth that makes ghormeh sabzi so good? It was all missing. I've had countless versions of this dish over the years, and this was nothing like the ghormeh sabzi I know and love. Then came the kabobs. Almost no flavor whatsoever. I added extra lemon, hoping to bring them to life, but all I could really taste were the basic ingredients: chicken, onion, and pepper. Where's the saffron? The lemon marinade? That juicy, buttery, wonderfully seasoned chicken that makes a great Persian kabob so satisfying? Both chicken dishes were surprisingly bland. And to top it all off, the bread finally arrived at the very end of our meal, while we were asking for to-go boxes. Bread is practically a staple of a Persian meal, not something you bring out when your guests are packing up to leave. I'm giving two stars because the food was nicely presented and smelled promising. But good presentation can't make up for bland kabobs, a ghormeh sabzi that tastes nothing like ghormeh sabzi, and painfully slow, inattentive service in a restaurant that was nearly empty when we arrived. Love this new location of Heaven on a Fork! Really yummy Persian food with a fun, modern decor throughout the restaurant. We started off with the tahdik of course that comes with khormeh sabzi, fesenjoon, and ghaymeh. All 3 stews were fantastic, the fesenjoon was our table's favorite. We also ordered the zaytoon parvardeh which is an olive appetizer and is probably the best I've had at any Persian restaurant. My husband loved it so much. The lamb was tender and falling off the bone. The stew was rich with hints of tomato and lingering spices. We arrived at Heaven on a Fork around 6:20 pm on a Saturday during a holiday weekend and waited about 45 minutes for a table of six. The restaurant is walk-in only and fairly small, so I'd definitely expect a wait during busier times. The parking lot was pretty full as well. Our food took around 25 minutes to come out, which was longer than expected, but understandable considering how busy they were. We started with the Flatbread and Zattar Bread with hummus, and both were light and enjoyable. I especially liked the hummus. The Beef Koobideh was easily the highlight of the meal. It was incredibly flavorful with a great texture and honestly one of the best beef kabobs I've had. The Chicken Koobideh was also really good, and I think the Koobideh Combo is a great option if you want to try both. The Tahchin was solid, especially the crispy rice, while the Kase Kabob Bowl was good, it was not as memorable for me. The Fesenjoon was our first time trying the dish, and we weren't expecting the stew to be quite so sweet. I can see the appeal if you enjoy that flavor profile, but we would probably skip it next time. The Doogh also wasn't really for me. Overall, the Beef Koobideh alone is worth coming back for. What a gem of a find. We had heard that Heaven On A Fork was an amazing restaurant with Persian dishes that were scrumptious, well spiced and prepared with much culinary perfection. The line of people was out of the door and growing by the minute. We were blessed as when I checked in with the lovely hostess I asked if we could sit and dine at the two vacant bar spots and she said yes and seated us immediately. Great service. Eshan was our server and what a wonderful and professional individual with a gift for service. Mika was also helping us and I must say the customer service with all of the staff was stellar. We started with drinks as my wife had doghs, a yogurt drink, and I had an iced tea. For our entrees my wife had the koobideh combo and I had the chicken kabob plate. The food and service was pretty good. We went on Friday 10/2 and our server Jonathan did a good job. We never really had Persian food before and he helped answer our questions. The tahchin was our favorite. The chicken was very juicy. The yogurt and cranberries in the rice was unique, it was nice to have rice cooked in multiple ways. The tahdig was good, but it was a little too hard and crunchy. The stews that came with it were really good though. A word of caution, the stews were very hot. We dined here on Tuesday 7/7/26 and to find they recently moved locations around the corner however the Yelp had not updated the address. Lucky that it was in the same complex and within walking distance. They literally were taking down the signs above. Food was exceed my expectations. We ordered Mediterranean Fries. It came with pickled onions which added a surprising taste. Next, the Avocado Salad was delicious! Crisp lettuce and amazing dressing tastes of cardamom made the dish stand out. The Koobideh Combo with beef and chicken and basmati rice was excellent! Service needed improvement. Our waiter looked less enthusiastic about serving, could have been a summer job. Didn't check on our table much aside from delivering our dishes. Ambiance was nice and on the higher end side. Very lux and a place where business people could do business over lunch. As soon as you walk in, the atmosphere feels instantly upscale--the plush velvet seating is so comfortable and sets a gorgeous, elegant mood for the dining room. However, the interior design team made one bizarre misstep: right near the dining area, they put up a miniature mock version of a bathroom (complete with a tiny toilet model) as a sign pointing toward the restrooms. So odd, no one wants to look at a toilet while they're enjoying a nice meal. It completely clashes with the otherwise sleek vibe. Thankfully, the kitchen more than makes up for the decor quirk: Must order are Combo koobideh and Heaven Stew, both tasted delicious. We have been coming to Heaven on a Fork for quite some time and have always had good experiences, so we were very happy to see them move to a bigger and nicer location. The food is still good, but this time the quality did not seem as good as it used to be. I don't know if something changed in the kitchen or if it was simply an off night, but several of us noticed the difference. The service itself was still very good. What really made us uncomfortable happened when it was time to pay. Our original waiter had been replaced during the meal by a female waitress, even though he was still working other tables. When she brought the credit card machine, she asked whether we were paying cash or card. We said card, and she told us she would remove the tip from the credit card transaction and asked us to tip her in cash instead. She then told us that if customers leave tips on credit cards, the owners do not give the tips to the employees and keep the money themselves. She said this has been happening to her and her coworkers. That was extremely uncomfortable. I ended up finding a $20 bill and gave it to her as a cash tip. The problem is that we have no way of knowing what the truth is. If what she told us is true, then this is a very serious and potentially illegal issue that California labor authorities should investigate. Employees should not have their tips withheld, especially if they feel they have to tolerate it because they need their jobs. On the other hand, if what she told us was not true and it was simply a way to get a cash tip, that is also a serious problem. Customers should never be put in a position like this. One of my friends wanted to report the situation, but I convinced him not to because we simply do not know which explanation is true. Unfortunately, either way, the experience made all of us uncomfortable enough that we do not plan to return. It is honestly a shame because we have always liked this restaurant, the service has generally been great, and the food is still good, although not quite at the same level we remember. I hope the owners look into both the tipping issue and whatever may have changed in the kitchen, because this was a restaurant we were genuinely happy to support. read more

I love HOAF, especially the famous lamb dish that comes out hidden in bread! Hands down, HOAF is one of my favorite places. It can get super busy on the weekends, and the location gives "hole in the wall vibes" because it's not super spacious, but that is the charm of it. I love it! Service is good, it can be pricy, but you get what you pay for. Everything from decor to quality of food, presentation of food, to service is top notch. The only thing i can say is watch out for parking, It can be a bit tight and tricky. So, when you want to exit, make sure you don't hit anyone or anyone doesn't hit you! The hosts, waitstaff, and owner are genuinely warm, welcoming, and attentive. Even when we've shown up close to closing or without much notice, they've gone out of their way to accommodate us and make us feel welcome. The restaurant is almost always busy, which says a lot, yet they somehow manage to get us seated with surprisingly little wait. You can tell the team works hard to keep everything running smoothly. As for the food, it's the best in the area. I've tried many different dishes over multiple visits, and everything has been consistently fresh, beautifully presented, and absolutely delicious. The quality has never disappointed me. If you're wondering whether it's still worth visiting after the move, my experience has been a definite yes.
