I'd been looking forward to eating here and today we finally went for lunch. Utilized the drive-thru; an employee came out to our car to take our order down on a pad (along with several others). The wait was a bit longer than you might typically expect to spend in a drive-thru (well, except Whataburger LOL). I really enjoyed my cheeseburger (I like 'em greasy!) and they were very generous on the helping of fries though I had to add salt and they were a little floppy. Price was mid-range. This establishment is one of the slowest Drive-Thru's I have experienced. This is my 3rd time and my last time. Thirty-five minutes (15 minutes to order and 20 minutes to receive food) to finally receive my order only to be cold food. I don't mind the burger being warm/slightly cold because I can microwave it. You cannot do that with fries. So I parked and went inside to request hot fries. The lady was very kind and helpful. That was the only positive outcome from this order. And the fries were hot when I arrived home (3.5 miles). I was hoping it would have improved but it hasn't. I always give a business 3 opportunities before they lose my business. I've eaten at Dan's since it opened in the early '70s because it's always been one of the very best burgers in Texas. That hasn't changed. The fries are fresh just like the burger. They use a wonderfully flavorful ground beef. Their breakfast is awesome with my favorite being Breakfast Tacos. I rated 4* rather than 5* because their limited menu includes no veggies of any type. For me, that's disappointing. It doesn't affect the great food on the menu. read more

Been here more then 5 times haven't gotten my order right once and seems to leave items out also. Lots of wasted money I guess. No bacon no cheese no onions rings. Asked for no veggies seems to have put extra. They need help. At least 10 dollars extra with nothing to show for it. read more

While the food was delicious, I'm concerned with getting sick now because as I'm eating I hear a worker in the back coughing up a lung.. hopefully he wasn't dealing with our food. While we were ordering, the manager interrupted the employee taking our order so rudely to talk about another employee... in the MIDDLE of while we were talking. So rude! Surprisingly good breakfast spot in Buda. Designed like an old diner inside. Our waiter was singing and whistling as he worked. The place just felt friendly and upbeat. Good food, decent prices, good service, what's not to like. We will be back. Back about a month later for breakfast. Came in about 1120 noticed breakfast was served till 1130 so came in and seated ourselves. No one made eye contact or said anything to with us for quite some time. The store did not have the same feel as it did last time not very friendly or courteous. Finally a waitress asked if we had placed our order at the bar and we said no we were here for breakfast and did not know to order at the counter. Well the burger and onion rings were amazing but the chicken basket was pretty much diary queen chicken. The chocolate shakes were great. Three stars because I can actually find a better burger closer to home and the chicken fingers are not hand battered fresh. read more

ALWAYS THE BEST BURGERS! I enjoy the '60's dining experience complete with the red vinyl toad-type stools at the counter! NOTHING is complicated here. You want a burger, just list your ingredients and tell them how hungry you are! The fries are GREAT, always. And the customer service is over the top, even when they're short staffed and COVID is just outside the door! Help yourself to refill your fountain drink, or get more napkins but if you're there for Breakfast, rely on Cre for super experienced help. This location has a place to be able to place your order right up front to-go, a drive-thru, or you can dine in at the bar or one of the many table/booths available. If you are trying to make it for breakfast but there is a wait, you will be able to order from the breakfast menu as long as they take your name before the time they stop serving breakfast. Our party of 6 was seated within 15 minutes of arriving during peak time on a Sunday morning. Our table had an array of different meals from the menu and the overall verdict was that everything tasted great. The only thing that lacked a bit were the pancakes and the salsa for the tacos. The pancakes were good but definitely could have been better. Same with the salsa, it wasn't very spicy but I understand not everyone likes their salsa super spicy. Everyone's eggs were cooked how they ordered, the biscuits and gravy were delightful and the tacos were awesome! I'd have to say the tacos were the best option on the menu for the price, taste, and size. I could have got just one and that be plenty, but I ate half of the second and had one to take home. My first time eating here and I can say I was pretty impressed. The food was very good and fresh and hot. I hate going to a place and they serve you a burger with cold buns but not this place like I said everything is made as you order. Delicious food, made with good quality. Really enjoy the onion rings. The drive thru is a simple way to feed my family on the way home after a long day of work. The employees in drive thru are patient (ordering for a family of 5 here) and easy going. I didn't try Dan' s because there was no place to park and was in a rush to eat breakfast quick and leave because we were meeting our son to pick up our granddaughter. Dan's is probably a great place to eat since the parking lot was full and will have to try it out the next time we are in Buda. I really can't give it a decent rating since we didn't dine there but with the amount of customers that were there it has to be good. Dan's, the burgers are Tex-licious! It matters not which burger you chose (small, regular, double, triple whatever) they are a belly full. The sides are great too and especially the curly fries. Dan's has lots seating, cause they have lots of customers, especially around lunch on workdays. Service is always great even when they are super busy. I live in S. Austin but shop for groceries in Buda. Will wait in the drive thru line cuz it's worth it. Onion rings are really good. I get the medium burger with extra veggies to go. Never once has my burger gotten soggy on the drive home. Food is still hot. Good old fashion burgers, shakes and the sides. If you want a gourmet burger, this isnt the place to expect one. If you live in the area and go thru the drive thru and your food is soggy, sounds to me like you either drove for hours or spilled your drink in the bag. Dans has gone slowly down hill prior to, during, and after COVID! Today my wife and I went through the drive through ordered a med hamburger, small cheeseburger, and regular fries! Service was a crawl and when we got home both burgers were small and squashed terribly, fries were a mixed of seasoned and regular fries that were old and looked to be refried. Use to be a #1 place to grab burgers prior to the separation of husband and wife. Now I wouldn't compare it to Jack in the Box. I was a senior food service operator so I know when it's a struggle do to business, management, or ownership. This struggles in all areas of concern! My husband and I tried to come here on Easter last month but they were closed due to the holiday. Anyway, we finally made it back out today to try Dan's burgers and curly fries. We stepped up to the ordering area after entering the resteraunt and ordered two burgers and a large curly fry to split. It was hard to decide what size of burger to get since I had never eaten here. The burgers are not cooked to a specific way and are cooked well done. Which is a bummer for me since I like med to med rare burgers. The burgers came out and my husband and I both had jalapeños on it. My husband also had added cheese and bacon for some added flavor. The burger was decent but honestly nothing to write home about. I think the best burger so far I have had since living in Texas again has been Whataburger. Now, please note that I have only been here for a little over 2 months now and have tried maybe 3-4 burger places. The curly fries are a must here! A large is a big order for even two people so keep that in mind. At the cash register they had sample sizes to show the amount it comes in to make a better decision based upon your current hunger levels. Dan's Hamburgers just doesn't do burgers, the breakfast is dewicious! The Rooster family along with the Batman clan had two outings this week with barely a flaw to be found. Two visits, same results. This my friends is happening in Buda, Texas. Since when did they add a good breakfast? We actually suggested Dan's. First visit was smooth, seated in the back room with small tables pieced together to form a six top. Service was friendly and damn the food came out fast. I opted the traditional breakfast route with over easy eggs, hash browns, biscuits, gravy, bacon for good measure. Adding the wife's ranchero sauce from her migas was a smart move and near breakfast nirvana. Both visits the in laws picked pancakes, various meats, and eggs. Grandpa Batman's ham was a big as the pancake. Slices of bacon delivered on the second visit with a preference of soft won my heart. Eggs were perfect for every customer. Biscuits and gravy for a chain place was smashing. Thanks to our new found fuel we burned it on little Rooster's fourth round of minature golf is South Austin, Not to mention Great Grandma Batman's first round at the tender age of 85. Oh my!! These burgers are an ooey-gooey mess and it's wonderful!! They are HUGE!! They are juicy!! I love love love old time looking diners (even if they are fairly new). This place is pretty chic. The sides are all sold ala carte, but they give you enough for 3-4 people to share. Definitely worth the extra cost. Why, do you ask, if I'm raving about how wonderful the food is, am I missing a star in my rating? Well. Service is kind of MEH. I placed my kiddos at the bar area and was getting ready to order food and a young lady comes over as I'm getting them situated and my husband is at the front counter ORDERING OUR FOOD. She promptly said without missing a beat, you gotta order your food at the front, not here. Wtheck! Did I ask her to take my order? No. Am I smart enough to realize when you walk in the door and see the counter with the food menu and cash registers and signs that say order here to figure out that you order there? I'm quite sure I am that smart. So a simple hello. How are you guys today? Would have sufficed. So for that very obnoxious young lady, this almost perfect place loses a star... DISSAPPOINTING. I haven't been in in several months...too long...I was ready to see the folks I've become friends with & enjoy food prepared & served with passion! I received a genuine "welcome back" as I walked through the door, waited about 5 minutes for a seat while everything was meticulously cleaned after each guest departed! Marcos, Rue, Cree & Nellie asked how I was doing & shared their latest life experiences...sincere folks that make me feel @ home! My eggs, hash browns, bacon & toast were Awesome!
