Another gas station winner. They gave some top notch burgers and friendly staff. Word to the wise, you can't get drinks from them, you have to purchase within the c-store.

Great White burger, fries and shark sauce
    Valerie S.

Pretty good burger, it needed a bit more seasoning on the meat. The cheese and bun were really good. Fries have a nice, crispy, seasoned exterior. The shark sauce has a tangy, light spiciness to it. The restaurant as most know at this point is inside a Valero. There's three tables with chairs in the middle of the Valero inside. The restaurant only has tea to drink but being inside a gas station, there's plenty of drink options to buy. The service was ok, the worker looked bored or indifferent during ordering. The tables were pretty dirty and they don't seem to be cleaned in between people going in and out. I'm not sure if they belong to Shark Burger or Valero so that might be part of the issue. My friend and I stayed and visited a while and there was lots of food traffic so it's definitely popular. It's definitely more of a take and go than stay and eat. I'm glad there will be a Kyle location soon.

    Patty melt-tasty

First time enjoying Sharks Burgers. Kyle is closer but it was closed down we thought we would travel up 35 and get it. We ordered online and it was ready when we got there. The burgers are large and messy, so be careful if you eat them in the car. I ordered the mushroom and Swiss burger and it was good! Not so good for eating in the car due to the mess, but very tasty and big! Hubby ordered the patty melt and he said it was good as well. We didn't order sides this time but the burgers were filling alone!

This place continues to be a great place for burgers and fries. Service is fast, friendly and prices are reasonable. We eat here a couple times a month as my kids love this place.

We immediately ordered the Braised Short ribs as the menu said it took longer for this entree. So we ordered the Lobster Bisque. As soon as the bisque was brought to the table we were informed the short ribs were already ready. Since we just got the bisque we said hold the ribs until we eat the bisque. The bisque was tasty but it seems the recipe was different than I had had it a few years ago. Seems it was less tomato based than before but no complaints. When we go the entree it was good but you could tell with the ribs that sitting under the heat lamp while we ate the bisque had dried out the ribs just a bit. However, they were good and the sides were great. I'm really liked the spicy roasted Brussels Sprouts and the mash potatoes were very good as well. Had we known the ribs would have been ready so quickly we wouldn't have ordered the bisque - it just kind of threw off the timing of the dishes Enjoyed everything and we will be back!

Chicken with dumplings, the menu special for the night, was presented as a bowl of gloppy-glue with stuff in it. Waitress was accommodating friendly, and without attitude. The replacement to gloppy -glue was gumbo with someone's hair on the edge of the dish. A Chicken/BLT sandwich is something one has to try hard to screw up. And try-hard they must have. I skipped the onions and avocado, asking for lettuce and tomato only with mayonnaise on the side. The sandwich was served on toasted Thick Bread, a soggy, "Fryer-fat" non-crispy half breast of dry chicken, with limp bacon, wet lettuce, and tomato slices all on Dry Texas Toast. Shrimp Macaroni and cheese was lacking the creamy goodness of Mac and Cheese while the Shrimp were cooked with Cajun spice. This dish was no different than the rest. In conclusion I think Brooklyn's Down South suffers from Poorly executed food coming from an under-trained kitchen staff. Third time is the last time.

You can see the bakers hard at work making everything fresh from scratch. I look at the display case of goodies and know I'll be leaving with more than I came on for. I look over the menu and order the croissant breakfast sandwich with sausage and 3 Danishes (cheese, blueberry, and strawberry). When they call my name, I pick up the order and find a seat in the neighboring spot which sell coffee, tea, and other drinks (see separate review for Meridian). The croissant breakfast sandwich comes with a scrambled egg, sliced link sausage and a green salsa that has a nice heat to it. The croissant itself it nicely toasted and just crumbles in your mouth as you take your first bite. The sandwich is hearty and will fill you up. I liked the substantial metal flatware and plates but wished the iced tea glasses could be larger. All in all it was just what I needed to face another day of work.

This place knows pancakes with four all the time specialty flavors (pineapple, strawberry, cinnamon…read moreroll and banana), one specialty (currently sticky toffee) and the basic buttermilk. While they claim to be a breakfast / brunch restaurant, all of the options I saw on the menu are breakfast options (no burgers, no salads, soups, sandwiches, etc ). So if you like endless variations on eggs and some creative pancakes / French toast this place is for you. If one or more in your party want something different, they may not feel very excited with the menu. They have quite an extensive menu beyond pancakes if that's not your thing. They have a specialty bacon that I really enjoyed with a stack of strawberry pancakes. The wife went with two eggs, two bacon, hashbrowns, substituted the sticky toffee pancake for the bread options. She thoroughly enjoyed the eggs, bacon and pancake. The hashbrowns were a bit of a miss. They tried to do something unique with the potatoes and they were not the right texture, being on the mushy side of things. Service was competent and prompt. The wife had decaf coffee and while it was quite good, our server could have been more attentive in keeping her cup full. The inside decor seemed unremarkable to me. With no partitions to speak of, it was louder than most places. On the positive side, it we clean, comfortable and well maintained. Definitely a place to return to when we are in the area looking for brunch.

We walked in, told the person at the front our name and were seated quickly. The restaurant is nice. It includes a little market in one section with various food items that you can purchase. There is also a seating area with couches near the market section. The restaurant has different sized tables for seating. Not long after being seated we were greeted by a waiter that did an excellent job taking care of us the entire time we were there. He took our drink order, gave us menus and some time to decide what we wanted. After a few minutes he brought us our waters and took our order. We ordered several items. El Olivo which is a garlic bread. It was okay. The bread was good. It was nice and warm and the garlic flavor was all on top. Whipped Feta which comes with grilled Naan and cucumber slices. The Naan was okay. It was a little cold and needed to be warmed up a little more for my liking but my kids ate it up. The cucumbers were fresh and crisp and the whipped feta was pretty good. It had a slight lemon flavor but not enough to where you could taste the lemon with every bite. Pork belly chicharron which had pork with avacado covered in a sauce. It came with tortilla chips. The tortilla chips were thick and crispy. Perfect for scooping up some of the pork belly. The pork belly was delicious. The sauce that covered it added flavor and the avacado was fresh. The Lamb chops came with Lamb, carrots and a puree. The lamb itself was excellent. It was cooked perfectly and was tender with each bite. The carrots were slightly sweet and the puree was soft. It was a good mix of different textures with each bite. The Truffle mac and cheese was a macaroni and cheese with chives and truffle flavor. This was very tasty. The macaroni was tender, the chives were spread out and added that slight onion flavor. The cheese was very flavorful. One of my kids ate almost all of this. Barbacoa Doughnuts which are mini doughnuts filled with barbacoa topped with a salsa. I don't really like barbacoa but I tried them and was pleasantly surprised. These were delicious. It was basically a soft and warm mini doughnut filled with flavorful barbacoa. The sauce on it added a slight spicy flavor. Patatas Bravas are potatoes with salsa and a garlic aioli sauce. These were very tasty. That salsa and aioli sauce are what gave this dish all of its yummy flavor. The potatoes had a crispy exterior with a soft interior. All of the ingredients mixed together made a very good side dish. One of my sons ordered the Dos Olivos Burger with Tater Tots. He said that the burger was okay. I tried it and I agreed. The tater tots were good. He ate those up with some ketchup. My other son ordered the Fried Chicken Sandwiches with everything on the side. He substituted a salad instead of the fries. He ate the salad up. He also ate the Fried chicken from the sandwich. He said it was good. He is not a fan of sesame seed bread so he opted not to eat the bun. I tried the red cabbage apple slaw that it comes with and it was okay. Lastly I ordered the Beet Salad which comes with beets, pears, and candied pecans. I don't usually eat beets but I wanted to try it. It was very good. The beet chunks were large and soft but not overly soft. The pears and the candied pecans added a crispier texture and the mixture of all of the ingredients along with the sauce that was on it made this a super sweet beet salad. Almost like a dessert. It was delicious. Overall the restaurant is a cool spot to visit. The market is a neat addition that adds to the ambiance of the restaurant. The service was excellent and the food was delicious.
