1/4 rib rack combo and tri-tip sandwich combo

Friendly workers! Food hit the spot. Will definitely return. Price is also reasonable.

    1/2 of a full order of tri-tip

I was in the mood for some nice, smokey barbecue, and a friend recommended Dan's to me. I also think they did so because my name is Dan. I just wanted the meat itself, and I sprung for a full tray of tri-tip, thinking it'd last me for at least a few days. It was hot, juicy, thinly sliced, tender, lightly drizzled with sauce, and even though I wish it was a bit smokier, it was still delicious. And I was right about it lasting for a while, I was working on it slowly for a full week. This place just overall feels like good vibes to me. I've gone a few times now and it's been busy every time, the people who work there are plenty friendly, and the meat has been consistently tasty.

I was at a job site in the area and my coworkers mentioned another BBQ place. Since the job ran a little late, I found Dan's BBQ was a mile away and decided to check it out. It's at the end of an older strip mall - can't miss it. I loved how they set up a kiosk to order food and pick up on the side - creative! Also, Dan is very helpful in deciding what to order. Since I always share my BBQ at home, I ended up with the sampler platter (ribs, brisket, pulled pork, cole slaw, chili beans and Texas Toast). I added Mac & Cheese because I wanted to eat something before I drove home. The mac & cheese was filling and has bacon bits on top. When I got home, I had a little bit of everything. Out of the meats, the pulled pork was my favorite. The chili beans have a mild kick to them, but out of the sides, the cole slaw was my favorite. There was way more than enough portions that I was able to have this for stretch this out a day or two. When I was leaving, I saw they also server burgers, fries and shakes. If I'm in the area again, I will definitely have to try it out.

This is not the brisket slices that they advertised. More like lunch meat.

For $38, you get 3 baby back ribs, 1 hot link, some lunch meat, and 2 small sides. That is my main complaint. The advertisement shows thick cut brisket slices. What you get is thin transparent slices of lunch meat. The flavor was just okay at best. Let's just say that I'm still looking for a good BBQ place in Modesto.

My party was seated fairly quickly. Our waitress took all our orders by memory - we were a party of 8! I got the Chicken Marsala: Chicken, sauce, mixed veggies, mashed potatoes, and gravy. I started off with the mixed veggies - they were cooked soft, just how I like them. They were also flavorful! Not just regular ole steamed frozen veggies, they definitely were buttered and seasoned or something. Next, the mashed potatoes. I'm not a mashed potato connoisseur - matter of fact, I usually skip eating mashed potatoes when they're available. These mashed potatoes however were so flavorful! And it was not only the gravy doing all the talking, it was both the mash and the gravy. I was impressed! Lastly, the chicken Marsala. The chicken itself was cooked to perfection, moist on the inside & fully cooked - and with chicken breast, we all know how hard that is to accomplish. The sauce was incredible. I have never had any Marsala sauce as good as that. So much flavor, very savory. Altogether, the flavors worked together and worked perfectly. If only I wasn't an hour away, I would come here more often. I hope to be here again someday!

Unfortunately the bread was not edible due to the taste of old grease. I simply discarded the bread and ate the 2 piece of turkey and bits of bacon. My son enjoyed the Tri-itip, but again the grilled bread tasted of old grease. He enjoyed the fries as well. The service was good and the atmosphere was pleasant, but at these prices, and the taste of old grease from the grill, I could not recommend this restaurant. The bill was $39.97 and we did not have anything to drink! Go democrats! Lol!

There are a few restaurants that share the parking so there is very limited parking. We had to go around twice to find a parking spot. We had reservations and were sat promptly. They had live music playing in the background, which is nice. We couldn't see it so I didn't know where they were at. It is designed in a circular way where the bar is in the middle so you cannot see across. We were greeted by our server and he was very attentive. He gave us some great recommendations and he was very pleasant. We started with the fig bruschetta and that was a 10 out of 10. It had little bacon bits on top which added a layer of flavor. We also had the spinach and artichoke crab dip, which was 10 out of 10. We added extra crostinis which is recommended. For a drink, I had the Cosmo, which was nice and refreshing. I also had a taste of the Old Glory and that was a nice refreshing twist on the old-fashioned, which was recommended by our server. I had the Calabrian Chile Shrimp Scampi over pappardelle pasta and it was the 10 out of 10. The layers of flavor with the capers, lemon, bacon and spice was perfect! I tried a piece of the crusted halibut, which was very moist and flavorful as well as the salmon. All was great on flavor. For dessert we had the brownie with vanilla ice cream, which is a huge brownie. I would say it's good for four people. I also tried the apple pie cheesecake which was very good and the mixed berry crumble that tasted fresh. I ordered an espresso martini to try it and it looked a little messy on the glass. As for taste, I felt like the Vodka drowned out the espresso notes. 6/10 As mentioned, our server was very friendly and attentive however he did fail to bring ice water when requested, but overall great experience .

The staff was really nice and welcoming, which made the experience even better. The inside has a modern feel to it very clean, stylish, and just a really comfortable space to hang out. What I loved most was the overall energy of the place it felt like a great mix of cozy and lively at the same time. Perfect for winding down, catching up, and just enjoying the moment. They were just good people who enjoyed what they did and that was awesome. The only annoying thing was it took three tries to get someone to bring a container so we could take one of the sandwich wraps home. The restaurant was clean, spacious, well lit, and cheerful. I appreciated the theme of the movie posters on the wall. That was clever. The food on the other hand was just ok. The fries lacked flavor on their own and could use salt or something. If it wasn't for the garlic on the one fries and whatever it was my wife had on hers those fries would have had no flavor at all. The wrap could have used more dressing, otherwise it was really bland. I had the burger with the egg on it. I forget the name. It had the same problem. Just a lack of flavor. The egg was overcooked. It would have been better if it was sunny side up so the yolk could run. I think it had bacon on it and cheese but I didn't taste either of those. The entire burger was just unremarkable sadly. Would I eat here again? Probably not. If I want a good place to go hang out with friends who work then sure. The staff was great. I just wish the food measures up to how cool they were.
